Official press announcement

Yesterday, in a press conference, Sam Gagnon told the press that he was steping down the leading the party. He told us that his political career was over and, that, after 20 years as a political man, he steps down from politics. To succed to him, 4 persons are proposing their candidacy:
- Richard Lajoie
- Frédéric Malenfant
- Guillaume Poulin
- Henri Durocher

A vote will be held between the party's supporters in about a month to know who will lead the Federalist Party to be the candidate to presidency of the party. Three debates will be held about 3 different topics: "Health and sports", "Education" and "Social welfare and Economics". The first debate will be held in Saint-François, at the "Centre des congrès Jean-François-Lajoie" on December 20th, 2014 at 7PM. The second one in Oliver City at the "Oliver City Regional Hall" on December 30th, 2014 at 7PM. The last one in Marshalliston at the "Centre des congrès de la région de Capitale" on January 6th, 2015, still at 7PM. We welcome everyone to the meetings and we all hope you'll come.

From our observations we know that Sam Gagnon is a true statesman, leader and intellectual. He has left a lasting positive legacy and we are sure Oliverrian federalists thank him for his continual service to the party's beliefs and principles.

The best of luck to Mr Gagnon.

Gagnon reacts to the comments!

Now that his political career is over, he wanted to explain why he stepped down as a politician. First, he had problems with his family. His father was very sick and he wanted to be near him. Also, after 20 years, he felt that his career was very complete: prime minister under Turcotte's government, the Empire, and President from 2007 to 2014. Some other facts, like the accomplishment of a stable Federalism in Oliverry(guaranteed by the 2nd Republic's consitution), the Limbrogidlian independance that got negociated, the injections of funds in Social welfare organisms and in sports made that he was happy about his career. Now, he will get back to his first hobby: being a good father.

A new candidate enters the race!

Current leader of the opposition, Jean Levasseur, will try to run as a candidate for presidency of the Federalist Party. He told us that he will stay as leader of the opposition as well as being candidate for presidency of Oliverry. He told us that his goal is to continue Sam Gagnon's politics, plus, giving legislative independance to Limbrogidlia. His other important project is to force Presidents to be parliamentary leaders of their party, which, in a popular debate forum, was being accepted by 80% of the population.

The 3 debates have been completed! Here are the main thoughts about each candidate:

- Richard Lajoie:
Very conservative person. Wants to modify the Federalist party's ideas. About health and sports, he wants to go back to a private healthcare service and wants to go back to sport's roots. About Education, his thoughts are that to go back to religious schools might be ok. And, about Social Welfare and economics, he wants to ban gay marriages and prostitution, all legalized by Oliverry. As well, he wants to fund wars ans such.

- Frédéric Malenfant:
Was ok with Gagnon's ideas, but not ok with him about social welfare: for him, prostitution should be banned.

- Guillaume Poulin:
Very Francophile, he will follow one of the laws of Oliverry carefully, the one about French Language: French is, and will be, the only language of the republic. His economic stance is very liberal, even though he leans a bit towards centre. About education: there must be no religious school since, according to him, they brainwash people to believe in something they don't want to. About health and sports: He wants a 100% free healthcare service and also wants to fund sports so that people don't always stay in front of their computer or the tv.

- Henri Durocher:
This is a perfect Federalist: he led the Federalist Party of Olive to lead 2 legislatures at the provincial parliament. Under him, no province will be able to secede. If a province even tries, they will get their fundamental liberties removed until they stop trying to secede. As well, he is very impulsive, which might lead the party to accept things even if they're bad for the nation.

- Jean Levasseur:
He will follow the same pattern than Sam Gagnon.

Last poll's results:

Who would you want to see leading the Federalist Party?
Jean Levasseur: 36%
Frédéric Malenfant: 22%
Guillaume Poulin: 20%
Richard Lajoie: 14%
Henri Durocher: 8%

The voting will be tomorrow. Only Federalist Party's members will be able to vote for the next candidate to the presidency.
