History
Nyssa was created from the wreckage of the Confederacy of Latao, which ceased to exist in the second Oceania-World War. After the collapse of the former Latao, the victory powers occupied most parts of the land and integrated it into their own territory, causing giant tracks of displaced people leaving their former home.

Most of these war-nomads have found a new home in today’s Nyssa. Still, the settlers aren’t completely free as the victory powers noticed the situation and started to control the new area too.

This “additional occupation” should be considered as a supporting service to ensure freedom, democracy and safety for the settlers and the other countries in the region.

Politics (Domestic)
The settlers have created a constitution which defines Nyssa as a federal democratic state. The constitution was freely written by an elected committee under assistance of allied diplomats.

When this constitution was confirmed by a people’s vote, three major parties have formed during the years:

• Republicans
• Socialists
• Liberals

Nyssa is being ruled by the following three institutions:

• National Executive Committee (NEC)
• Bi-chamberal Parliament (National Council & Senator Council)
• Judicative Branch (Supreme Court)

Electoral System
Nyssa is divided into 16 provinces. Each of these may send three Senators and a number of representatives (based on the population of the province) to the national parliament.
Citizens of 18 years of age are encouraged to vote inside his/her province and everyone above the age of 25 may run for a political office.

• The National Council consist of 300 Representatives
• The Senator Council consists of 45 Senators
• The National Executive Committee consists of 7 Departments
• The Supreme Court consist of 11 Judges

The in-percent strength of each party in both chambers of the parliament defines how many departments in the NEC and how many judges in the Supreme Court it may take.

After an election, each party nominates candidates it would like to send to the NEC. These candidates must then be elected by the members of both chambers of the parliament.
The chambers of the parliament also elect the members of the Supreme Court.

Politics (Foreign)
Since the country still haven’t got its full sovereignty from the victory powers, Nyssa currently has five important questions of international notice on the agenda:

Recognition of Territory
There is still the pending request of Nyssa to ask the international community to recognize its area in region 18 where tracks of displaced people and settlers moved to after the war.

International Status
Currently, Nyssa still is a “Protectorate” and it has to comply with orders of many other nations that limit its sovereignty. There are also powers that wish for re-unification with the other state of Latao.

Re-Arming
One of the most sensitive questions might be if, when and how Nyssa’s army should be (re) built and armed. International-strategic policies may have demands that could be difficult to unite.

Withdrawal Time Table
Nyssa is still under occupation of foreign power’s military that control wide parts of public life, such as police and borders. A majority of the people and many politicians desire a clear time table for the withdrawal of foreign troops and the complete return of Nyssa’s sovereignty.

Diplomatic Relations
International Diplomatic ties are still a highly sensitive term for many Nyssa’s politicians. We appreciate that our politicians are still not welcome at many places, because a lot of people still mix Nyssa with ex-Latao. We will have to work hard to bring that idea out of people’s mind. Nyssa holds good relations to its neighbor countries very dear, especially for economic co-operation.

Military
None; as the country is currently under allied occupation.
