QUOTE (Masira @ Sep 18 2004, 05:17 AM) | The sovereignty of Balaal, Queen Masira, request permission to land, and occupy, her 6 milljon people on the main (green) island as shown in picture, keeping a reserve for future expansion on the small neighbouring island on the left.

We are a friendly kingdom who set out to populate a new land after the eviromental destruction of our homelands in a galaxy far away. Our former planet of Balaal suffered from raging ice and snow storms, and eventhough we got accustomed to the weather conditions by moving our beef-production underground, we were no longer able to maintain a steady production in sight of our growing community. After the greatest ice storm in 2000 years, known as Humesi, destroying more then 75% of our upper land resourses, we fled our homes and underground farmlands in search for a new peace, now offering our expertise in underground farming to the regions counsil. You can contact us through our Queen and Goddess, Masira, who wishes you all blue berries.

The Free Land of Triangunation requests part of the coastal strip of land south of Pedriana, facing Turori. Further expansion, if necessary, of this small (5m population) colony of Kaze Progressa would thereafter take place further east along this strip, towards NEWI Cefn Druids. This land can be marked red on future maps, preferably a shade lighter than that denoting Lamoni at present. |

Lord Virig requests access to the white region of Atlantian Oceania to place his nation.
He would prefer a strip of land along the western border with territory on the archipelago off of the shore. |

AJ Jenkin comes in stubling over his own feet, holding a bunch of charts.
"Ah, goodday. Me queen has sent me to inform the counsil of our expedition plans, as we would like to expand our terratory there also, as we believe to be the nation with the most credible history to back up our expertise when it comes to ice."
He chaoticly unfolds a few of those charts and presents the counsil with the next scenario:
![user posted image](http://213.51.82.49/expedition.jpg)
"As soon as we arrive we will install our defense system with a range of 25 km all around, limiting other nations to come near us. We are a friendly, peacefull nation, but we're not stupid. Ha!
Blue Berries all around!"
AJ Jenkin, First officer of Balaal, head of regional expeditions.

If my memory serves... the white region on the map is off limits for colonization. It is intended for scientific expeditions only. |

Origins: Big Pimento was founded when leaders of the Pimana and Huarento tribes signed the Treaty of Lekakis 50 years ago. The city of Lekakis was agreed upon, as it was the midpoint between Pimana territory to the west and Huarento territory to the east. The tribes had been rivalling each other ever since the Huarentos set foot on Big Pimento land over 200 years before. The Huarentos were a violent and nomadic people, willing to fight for territory where ever they went. The Pimanas, a sedentary tribe with a complex structure of government, attempted to resist the invasion of the Huarento through military action, but could not match the level of violence exhibited by the Huarentos. A concession was made splitting the island, leaving the Pimana with approximately 2/3rds of the territory and conceding the remaining eastern third to the Huarentos. However, after a few invasions by various colonialists, chiefs from both tribes realized the best solution for the security of the island was to unite together. After the signing of the Lekakis treaty, the city became known as Pimento City, becoming the capital of the new found nation.
Trade: Big Pimento, despite their high regard for human values, often coming at a cost to business and profitability, is enjoying an emerging economy. Retail is by far the biggest industry in Big Pimento, along with notable sized industries in Woodchip Exports and Automobiles. The governments' commitment to reforestation allows the Woodchip industry to be viable, all while not losing the natural beauty of the nation. Big Pimento also exports a large quantity of high quality tropical fruit.
Sports: The people of Big Pimento love their sports at all levels from professional to amateur. The nation's national sport has to be that of Basketball, as it holds its place as the nation's most prosporous league, as the Pimento team are one of the top squads in the World (OOC - Speaking of basketball, there's a World Cup that's going to get underway). Football is also gaining popularity as the national team continues to enjoy more and more success. Gymnastics are also very popular in Big Pimento, as the nation enjoys a well-coached and well-funded program. The Olympic Games are taking place as we speak and Pimentos are definately counting on good results in artistic gymanstics. Big Pimento are also highly involved in extreme sports or action sports, and plan to hold the first competition of its kind in the near future with the Nationstates X Games.
The local game of Three Corners or Triball, which came from the Huarento tribe, is still very popular. The game is played with three teams of four, two attackers, one defender and one pinkeeper. The pin is made from a lightweight wood, measures one metre and stands precariously on its own. In modern times, the ball is an inflated one similar in dimensions to a volleyball. A goal is scored when a player knocks over another team's pin. Contact in the form of hip and shoulder checks are accepted and encouraged. When a team's pin has been knocked over three times, they get knocked out of the game. The last team standing is declared the winner.
The field is the shape of an equilateral triangle with each edge measuring 80m. The field is seperated into four zones by a smaller triangle being drawn up at the 40m mark of each edge.
CODE | / \ / 1 \ /-----\ / \ N / \ / 2 \ / 3 \ ----------- |
The use of hands is only permitted in the neutral zone (represented by N) and on power plays. Power plays occur when a player commits a foul (Illegal use of hands, wrap tackling, tripping...) and is forced to sit out for 30 seconds. During that time, all players are permitted to use their hands in the guilty players' zone. This greatly helps the attacking teams, as goals are scored when the opposing team's pin has been knocked over and it's a much easier task to do this throwing than kicking and aids in defending since all players can use their hands, contrary to just the pinkeeper.
Three corners is unique, as no modern sports require players from opposing teams to co-exist at certain times. According to legend, entire villages would play against each other in ancient times with deaths occuring frequently as a result of settling off-field business.
Location: Big Pimento is located on an island on the southern fringes of Atlantian Oceania on a moderately sized island. The island is located to the east of Exham and can be found on the map if you directly follow the straight eastward (The island that remotely looks like Cuba). Neighbours in the surrounding areas are mostly ragtag tribes, somewhat like the Pimana and Huarentos once were, not having yet organized themselves for national status. These areas have yet to have been colonized by industrialized nations also.

OOC: consider this my introduction to the region (I know I've RP-ed in the WC with some of you), as well as my homeland request. Cheers The Protectorate of Legalese
Founded by a group of exiled lawyers, Legalese has grown to incorporate 350 million citizens. The capital is in Legalese City, in the center of the state, with additional cities serving as hubs for the mini-regions within the Protectorate. The passions of the Legalites lie in Sports, as well as the Law. 75% of the adult population is trained in the law, having received their Juris Doctorate at one of Legalese's publicly-financed universities.
In the sporting realm, Legalese's latest endeavour has been the Legalese Association Football Confederation, which governs the game known inside the country as soccer. The Black and Red, so named after the national colors, have quickly risen to contention for a World Cup spot, having finished as runner-up in the Tenth Cup of Harmony. Legalese's domestic league, the Legalese Soccer Championships, will soon be underway as well. Additionally, Legalese has fielded a national team in Cricket, holding a place in the INSCC.
Legalese is located on Atlantian Oceania's largest island, sharing a small portion of coast line on the lake set internally within the Island itself. Neighbors include Starbladyia to the North, as well as NEWI Cefn Druids to the west. |
