"Send out a ping" said Cpt. Holt. "I want to know which other allied ships are in the region."

Admiral Placillo recieved the transmition from the President and quickly got to work. With the Xilean Channel being cut off there would likely be some major activity outside Abattoir in International Waters. Small patrol fleets were to be sent out to ensure that no vessels trampled about Abattoir's sovereign waters.

The Admiral quickly skimmed over the letter again.

QUOTE
To: Admiral Placillo, Naval Headquarters in South Port
From: President Antoine Mavisko Tariskany

Admiral Jaron Placillo,

Tension within the region seems to be escalating, and right now I think it would be best to protect our best interests.  Be on the defensive, and watch for any activity in and around our waters.  The Xilean Channel has been cut off by some Sarzonian debris, and I think the hinderance could cause some hostilities.  Don't step on any toes, and make any communication with foreign ships friendly and yet forward.

Sincerely Yours,
Antoine Tariskany

The Lamonian task force had finally made it past Legalese, sending a radio message of goodwill to their allies. They noticed a lack of returns from where Sarzonia should be as they passed by (OOC: as Sarz has left the region). Thinking that this was odd, a radio message was sent off to a Lamonian commo satellite, and a reply that Sarzonia had left the region was sent back about thirty minutes later.

Defence Ministries of Around Atlantian Oceania,

The Protectorate of Starblaydia wishes to know if any actual action regarding these 'pirates' has been taken. We also offer to put our grey AORDO hats on and come down there and bang some heads together until the situation is resolved.

Protectorate of Starblaydia

Dear Lord Carlite Orfosi,

The Free Republic of Lamoni has a naval task force in the area that is searching for the pirates now. As they have not attacked merchant traffic for a little while, we suspect that they are at some secret base or other. Lamonian recon sats have been detailed to assist the task force locate the pirates. Any intelligence that Starblaydia is willing to share would be appriciated.

Defence Ministries of Around Atlantian Oceania,

Currently there are no illegal activities observed in the south-western waters near Latao, except a few Crack-Dealers from the Holy Saints.

OOC: These pirates won't be affiliated with Nova Roma in anyway; just decided to RP for them.

IC:

They didn't know how, and frankly they didn't care, but the pirate fleets had managed to slip by the Falcanian patrols... mostly through luck. Extremely bad weather and an increase in naval traffic spread the Falcanian forces too thin. Over a period of several weeks, the pirate ships had managed to slowly trickle through the Secocia Sea, loop around Florianapolis, and wind up off the coast of Bazarain.

The pirates were worried, however, due to the proximity of their fleet to Nova Roma. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, the pirates regarded Nova Roma and Latao as rather pirate friendly places. Laws were lax and taxes few. As long as the pirates didn't disrupt Roman trade, everyone was left alive. Unfortunately, the relocation meant Roman fleets were running extremely thorough patrols; a scout ship had even caught wind of Nojkan vessels in the area. Very dangerous times for a pirate, especially with a handful of nations scouring the eastern seas for them.

Unfortunately, the lure of wealth was too much for the pirates; the Vilitan Cove was a very busy place, with tankers and merchant ships travelling from Nojika, to Vilita, to Nova Roma, to Abattoir, and to Lamoni. Attack plans were created and shared between ship captains. The attacks would begin soon, and hopefully the pirates would be quick enough to get what they were after and leave the region before they were caught looking down the barrels of some of Starblaydia's new warships.

One of the sailors onboard FNS Feather jerked awake. It was the dog watch and he was tired. He saw a black, moving shape on the horizon. What was it? He looked at the bottle in his hand. Surely it wasn't that strong? Meh, he wouldn't report it and risk a court-martial for being asleep and drunk on watch.

Little Brigsby. Top-of-the-line Lamonian cargo-ship. It was en route from Vilita to Nova Roma. Specifically: Capva. The capital port city linked directly to the Roman capital.

Its cargo? An electronic treasure. Computers, watches, plasma TVs, stereo systems, gaming devices, the likes. Word had it that the ship was even carrying advanced targeting equipment and several weapons calibration devices, all of which could be sold on the black market for an extremely high price. The fact that the Brigsby captain was broadcasting his location every twenty minutes on every frequency certainly didn't help the ship as the entire pirate fleet heard the calls. Within minutes, they were ready to strike.

----

The seas were getting rough, cloud cover was thick, and waves were slamming the ship, rocking it from side to side. Captain O’Donnell was just about to radio in his location when a transmission interrupted.

"This is the *static* requesting immediate assistance! Our main *static* is shot and we're taking on water. Life boats away and we are requesting *static* and pick-up! *static* If anyone is out there *static* please help! I don't know how long we'll be able to keep up *static* transmission, our radio is *static*"

The captain looked to his first mate who promptly nodded. They tried to get back to the ship, but there was no response.

"Buggers likely lost their radio. Any idea where it is?"

O’Donnell looked up out of the front window and saw a dark object; he squinted. Some lifeboats and a ship. Luckily, the trade route would take the Brigsby right alongside the damaged ship. Anywhere else and the cargo ship would have had to call the Roman or Vilitan portmaster and get help from them. The captain readied his crew to pick up the lifeboats and slowed the cargo ship down.

----

"ARIGHT MEN! DON'T SHOOT UNTIL WE MEET THE CAPTAIN! AND EVEN THEN! DON'T SHOOT UNTIL I GIVE THE ORDER!"

The man shouted above the roar of the waves and lad next to him spoke up.

"What's the order going to be!!!???"

"YOU IDIOT! I'LL JUST SAY 'FIRE!'"

----

After the last pirate was brought aboard the ship, a hand ran off to the control room. Several minutes later he came back with the captain.

"I hope you're all safe ---"

"FIRE!!"

The pirates pulled out a variety of Glocks, Desert Eagles and Colts and dropped the crew at hand. The captain and a handful of other crew members fell. A pirate with a large backpack kneeled down, opened his bag and handed to his friends several submachine guns. They scurried off, and several seconds later the report of gun fire was heard and the groaning of the engines and rudders followed as the ship altered course. The pirates had seized control of the ship.

"TOO EASY!!"

"You don't have to yell, sir."

"SHUT UP YOU WENCH!"

Recieving the radio call 'SOS' from somewhere on the trade route between Vilita and Nova Roma, a nearby Lamonian cruiser was sent to investigate. When they got to the spot of the SOS, the only things on radar were a Lamonian merchant ship, the Little Brigsby, and some unknown ships that were headed away from the Little Brigsby. More curious than cautious as yet, Captain Zimmler called the Little Brigsby on the radio.

"FRLS Zeus to Little Brigsby, come in Little Brigsby..."

"Tell me again why we're up here," the co-pilot asked over the roar of the engines.

"We're up here," the pilot - a Group-Captain - said, "because we are fulfilling an essential intelligence-gathering operation essential to the security of the region from those nefarious pirates."

"Yeah, right," the Electronics Officer remarked.

In truth, there was something to be said for the majestic, cult form of an SR-71 Blackbird screaming across the skies at god-knows-how-many miles per hour. It wasn't every day that Starblaydi Air Force Command got to use them so openly. They were up there to check out the area, providing real-time, useful coverage that mere satellite photos could not create.

The pictures were being real-timed to a large room of intelligence officers, who were in direct contact with the Blackbird's crew.

<Highclass, come right, vector three-four-niner.>

"Roger, Motel," the pilot confirmed, coming to three-four-niner."

"Holy moly," the electronics man said in the rear "would you look at that,"

"That's a goddamn fleet," the co-pilot said.

"Highclass to motel," the pilot said, "are you getting this?"

"Roger, Highclass, transmitting co-ordinates to all AORDO craft now. It's huntin' time."

"FRLS Zeus this is Little Brigsby. We've had a slight error in our course calculation; this damn storm's screwing with navigations."

The pirate captain cut the radio and switched to a lower frequency.

"Move in now; we've some serious trouble. Lamonian cruiser. We need some damn backup."

He didn't like calling for back-up; those that came to the assistance of the cargo-ship would get a slightly larger share when all of the goods were sold, so of course, nearly the entire pirate fleet came to help.

Stolen corvettes, patrol boats, yachts, and other small ships began converging on the cruiser's location, swarming out of the hidden coves and caves that they had been lurking in. Within five minutes, the Lamonian cruiser would be surrouned by lightly-armed but extremely maneuverable craft.

"So," said Cpt. Holt to the terrified sailor. "You were asleep and drunk on watch? and you saw a ship on the horizon? And didn't report it? Get to the engine room."

He turned to another sailor. "All ahead full. Coordinates sent by Starblaydian SR-71s. It's wreckin' time!"

"Oooh, right you are, darling!" said the sailor, daintily pulling the lever.

"What have I told you about that, Hutchkinson?!"
