Treaty of Errion Vega Gets Majority But Fails Confirmation In First Vote
Entrance into alliance delayed by unexpected resistance in Senate, Second vote to come soon.

-KONIGSEIFERT, GEISENFRIED
In a turn of events that was unexpected by many political analysts, the ASPIRE Charter, called the Treaty of Errion Vega by most lawmakers, has failed confirmation in the Senate, with only 54 assenting votes including the Chancellor's, to 47 dissenting, enough to get majority, but not enough to reach the two-thirds mark required to make it law. By the constitution of Geisenfried, the Crown can make executive decisions concerning foreign treaties, but they must be confirmed in the Senate by at least two-thirds majority, or 68 votes. The Archduke Andreas, the brother of King Alexander, applied his signature in Errion Vega, however, the two major minority parties, the Conservatives and Social Democrats, usually rivals, have combined to give stiff opposition to the treaty in the Senate. While the Conservatives were widely expected to be in opposition, the level of disapproval of the treaty from the Social Democrats has surprised most analysts.

As written in the constitution, the majority vote combined with the chancellor's approval means that the treaty can go into a second vote with no changes to the document after another long debate. However, if the treaty stalls, it may spell the withdrawal of Geisenfried from ASPIRE altogether.

Progress Made For ASPIRE Treaty, But Still No Confirmation
Six more votes needed for acceptance of treaty.

-KONIGSEIFERT, GEISENFRIED
After another round of debates and speeches, the Treaty of Errion Vega made some progress, getting 8 more assenting votes, making the count 62-39, but still needs another 6 votes for acceptance. The Liberal Party now has put forth unanimous support for the treaty, based on the Chancellor's heavy support for the treaty. Some small inroads were made into the Social Democratic Party, but there were no changes in the votes for the Conservative Party, which remains rock-ribbed in its disapproval of the treaty. Only a couple fiscal Conservatives who think the trade bonuses in the treaty are enough to give it approval have given assenting votes. Another vote, with more discussion, is due soon.

Progress Lost And Reversed In Third Vote, King To Speak For Fourth Vote.
Five votes go back to dissenting, treaty may fail if no major change made in next couple votes.

-KONIGSEIFERT, GEISENFRIED
For those looking for the confirmation of the Treaty of Errion Vega in Geisenfried, it may be time to panic. In the third vote, 5 more dissenting votes popped up, moving the count to 57-44. King Alexander IV, in a rare speech in the Senate, is set to speak in support of the treaty in the soon coming fourth vote. If the treaty does not get the two thirds majority within two more votes, then Geisenfried will be forced to withdraw from the ASPIRE treaty and alliance.

King's Speech Gives Treaty Necessary Boost
Royal Federation of Geisenfried now an official member of ASPIRE

-KONIGSEIFERT, GEISENFRIED
After the first speech from the king in the Senate in a long while supporting the Treaty of Errion Vega, 12 Social Democrats switched their decision concerning the alliance, giving a 69-32 vote in favor, enough to officially ratify it and confirm Geisenfried's dedication to the accords set in Errion Vega.
