The night had been wonderful, but now was beginning to draw to a close. The orchestra had been marvelous both in ability and selection of music. The Queen had danced with all three of the male ambassadors and despite what they tried to claim, they had all done very well. Ms Coutermarsh had made her rounds, dancing with nearly every unaccompanied person that was present. And none of them had seemed to mind at all. Mr Xyon and Mr Kilp had both found their better halves and danced the night away with them. Mr Frampton seemed to be floating, even more so after the arrival of his wife. The two had a glow about them as they danced and talked quietly with one another.

She had thoroughly enjoyed herself tonight, the Queen decided. The only disappointment was the absence of Lord Dorian. She would have him make it up to her on his return.

The guests had begun to leave, each taking their turn to compliment the Queen on such a lovely ball, and she waited patiently for each of the ambassadors to bid their goodnights before making their way home for some much needed family time. In the case of Ms Coutermarsh, she guessed it would be more of a chance to check out the local nightlife. She thought for a minute, but could barely remember what those times had been like.

It was getting late and it had been a big day with some big news. The music was great, but somehow I think as long as it was somewhere in the ball-park of a tune the Frampton's would have thought it heavenly. They both felt like giddy little school children and hadn't felt this close for ages. But the night was drawing to a close and the couple where emotionally drained.

They headed for the exit and towards the Queen.

"Thank you, so much. Tonight has been wonderful" said Mrs Frampton
"It certainly has." added Terrance, who looked at his wife with a strange smile and they both erupted into a giggling laughter for no apparent reason.

"In fact, I have some news. We have talked this over, and we want you to be the first outside the diplomatic office to know... We're Pregnant. Apparently we have been for 6 weeks." Terrance said before gazing into the eyes if his wife and then back to the Queen for her response.

The Framptons and the queen exchanged a few words of congratulations and thanks before farewlling each other and the Frampton's left with their spirits higher than they had been for ages.

As the night came to a close, Ambassador Xyon walked over to where the Myrtannian ambassador was nursing a Bourbon, and slipped her a government communication detailing potential plans for a ferry service between the Lamonian mainland and the closest of the Myrtannian islands.

After handing Ms. Coutermarsh the communication, he invited her to the Lamonian embassy sometime for some chit-chat. With a polite word of leavetaking, he walked over to the Queen, and thanked her for the wonderful time that he and his wife had had at the ball, and the same words of polite leavetaking. With that, Ambassador Xyon and his wife went back to the embassy for a well deserved slumber.

Ambassador Kilp smiled and turned to his wife, at the question of the Queen asking for a dance. His wife nodded her approval and danced with her, a bit nervous as he went out onto the dance floor. The words 'Don't screw up.' kep repeating over and over in his mind as he traded steps with royalty. Finally when the dance was over, his wife and he enjoyed the rest of the night with each other and at the conclusion of the ball, thanked the Queen for a wonderous evening and for her offer of a house-warming present of one of the works of art.

It didn't seem to take to long to pick out one piece they had eyed earlier, and after clearing it with the Queen, they again thanked her profously and departed back for home. On their way out they noticed the Frampton's being rather giddy and joyous, even for a party. It seemed to be infectious as the Kilps couldn't help but smile too as they left.
