From: Sanjauna Coutermarsh, Ambassador, Allied States of Myrtannia

I have recieved your gracious invitation and am pleased to inform you that I will definitely be present at your banquet.  It will be a singular honor to finally meet the head of state of a nation that has thus far proved to be open and welcoming, based on the superb treatment my staff and myself have experienced since arriving in WhiteHall.  If there are any changes in the scheduling, do not hesitate to inform us at the Myrtannian embassy.

A thousand thanks for your invitation, and may peace be with you and your people for days innumerable.

On behalf of President Holton, the Myrtannian government and people,

To: Lady Sonya Sabre, Her Majesty of the Sylvanese Kingdom

From: Terrance Frampton, Bazalonian Ambassador

It is with great honour that I wish to accept the invitation you have sent in regards to the banquet and Ball being held at the Royal Palace. I wish to bring my wife Julie Frampton, and would like to confirm her attendance. It is an honour to be invited to the Royal Palace and an even greater honour to finally meet your majesty.

OOC- Sorry for the delay in the reply. But it is still Monday here for at least a few more moments. The invitation was meant to include Ambassadors and their families or an escort for the evening as well as all Senior Staff members and their families as well.

IC
The Royal Palace in WhiteHall was all abuzz. It had been far too long since an event such as this had graced the palace. In all actual fact, some of the servants now performing their duties had not even been born the last time an event of this magnitude had taken place.

Mirianwen Elosoquinde seemed to be everywhere at once. One moment she was supervising the staff as they prepared for the festivities, another she was welcoming the guests as they began to arrive. And their were seemingly endless numbers of the latter. One by one the honored guests of the evening began to arrive at the palace, the Royal Carriages having been sent to make their short journey here even more spectacular.

The trumpets sounded and the first such announcement came. “Sir Charles Xyon, Ambassador from the Free Republic of Lamoni!” Every head turned to watch the new Ambassador make his way into the Great Hall of the Palace. Then the trumpets sounded again. “Lady Sanjuana Coutermarsh, Ambassador from the Allied States of Myrtannia!” Once again every head turned as the Ambassador made her entrance.

The two were approached with joyous friendship by several key members of the Sylvanaes government, including the newly appointed Minister of Internal Affairs, Lord Cameron Nicholas. It was some time before the trumpets sounded again. “Sir Scott Kilp, Ambassador from the Dominion of Khazaron!” The entrance followed the same lines as the previous two with Mr Kilp searching out Mr Xyon and the two engaging in friendly conversation.

Mirianwen received news that all preparations for the banquet had been finished and things were now ready to begin. A stroke nearly ensued from the news. Not everyone was present yet. She immediately began to search for the whereabouts of…..The trumpets sounded again and she calmed - only slightly. “Sir Terrance Frampton, Ambassador from The Prime Ministerialship of Bazalonia!” Mirianwen relaxed almost completely. Now things could proceed according to plan.

As the guests resumed their banter, the trumpets sounded yet again. Mirianwen smiled. This would be the last entrance tonight. “Honored Nobles, Officials, and Most Honored Guests this evening. I now present to you Her Royal Highness, High Queen of The Sylvanaes Kingdom, and Ruler of the Fourteen Isles, Lady Sonya Sabre!” Cheers went up from the crowd as the Queen made her entrance. It had been far too long since the Kingdom had experienced this.

Queen Sonya bypassed the local Officials and Nobles to find the four Ambassadors whose presence in the Kingdom had brought on this event. The four seemed a bit nervous at first due to all the pomp and attention. “Honored Dignitaries,” spoke the Queen. “Welcome to the Sylvanaes Kingdom. It is my complete honor to welcome you to my home. Now, if you are all ready to dine, our banquet awaits us.”

The massive doors to the Banquet Hall slid open to reveal an array set out seemingly fit for a King. Or was that a Queen. Lord Dorian would not be in attendance due to one of his many adventures. This time he was in search of Dragon or some such thing.

Each of the Ambassadors and their spouses/escorts were directed to their seats at the Royal Table, two to each side of the Queen. (Lamoni and Khazaron on the left, Bazalonia and Myrtannia on the right). The pages assigned to each then went about the business of making sure all needs of their charges were more than adequately met according to standards normally reserved for royalty. As the dinner progressed, the Queen chatted idly with each person present. “Before the Ball begins” she said. “I would like to present each of you with a case of Aärlandë-Eldenwien. This is a fine nectar produced from local fruits and berries on a small scale, normally reserved for nobility here in the Kingdom. It should mix quite nicely with that rum you spoke of (She smiled at Mr Kilp) or some of that Lamonian Vodka I’ve been hearing about (another smile at Mr Xyon). The pages presented a bottle to each of the Ambassadors and also made preparations to send the gifts themselves to each embassy.

“Is their anything you wish to discuss while we have a bit of time?” The Queen seated herself and awaited the responses sure to come.

Mr.Kilp coudln't help but smile broadly as he looked about at the wonderous arainment of food, decorations, and nobility. This was his first time at being at such a function and one could see from the look of his face that he didn't know how to react to all the stimulation. Spacing out for a bit, he turned and then bowed his head to the Queen as she passed out the gifts of nectar.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you, Your Highness. I only hope that you find my government's gift of one of our finest cases of rum to be as wonderous as we find this."

Turning to look once again at the surrounding banquet hall, Kilp smiled broadly, practically exploding in wonder.

"I must say, your country is a welcome change from life in Archon City. So many times things get to crowded and..." he paused searching for the right words. "...modern, I guess is the word I am looking for, that I find myself getting to easily overwhelmed. But out here..." he made a gesture with his right hand, waving it about as if to try and bring in the whole of the country in on him. "...one can feel at ease and enjoy oneself at a much more relaxed pace. It is indeed a welcome sight to the region."

Looking around at all the pagentry and that special feeling that could only be termed 'royalness,' Ambassador Xyon felt that this could be a most enjoyable evening. Freed from the pressures of countering SAAS diplomatic moves against the SDL, he felt free; almost giddy. That Dorian & Sonya wasn't the most 'comfortable' with modern technology did not bother him in the slightest.

When the Queen passed out the nectar, Xyon wasn't surprised to see that Ambassador Kilp had brought Khazaronian Rum. While he was presenting his nation's present to the Queen, he slipped a note to the Khazaronian ambassador suggesting a trade of Lamodka for Khazaronian Rum between the two embassies.

"Queen Sonya, I would like to thank you and your nation for the very generous Royal Ball and Banquet that you have invited us to. As a token of my nation's appreciation for your decision to open the Kingdom up to international relations, I have a case of Lamodka. It should go well with the Khazaronian Rum and the Nectar. I also have to agree with my Khazaronian colleague here. Before I was appointed ambassador to the Kingdom, I was assigned to the department of the Lamonian Foreign Ministry that dealt with countering SAAS diplomatic offensives against both the Free Republic and the SDL as a whole. Coming here for a sunset appointment has been a great relief."

Queen Sonya smiled. I truly thank the two of you for your kind words, and wonderful gifts. It is pleasing to hear that things in The Kingdom have thus far been to your likings. I can say that life here is a bit .....um.....simpler, for lack of a better word. Yet the beauty and serinity of the nation as a whole tends to make everything more enjoyable without all the hassle of other places.

I do have a grand idea. We still have some time before the Ball is set to begin. The guests must have their time for socializing. What say we retire to my personal study and see how well the rum and lamodka mix with the nectar. Would that sound good to you?

Queen Sonya awaited the answer. and then added "If you think so much of this affair tonight, you really have to dress down and head off to one of the local villiage faires. Nothing like it anywhere. This is stuffy in comparison."

Xyon figured that such a discussion couldn't hurt as long as he didn't get drunk. "I shall be honored to join you for the discourse, Queen Sonya."

He then waited for the others to decide whether to agree, though he was fairly certain that they would all do so.

OOC - I will assume the other two did not care for drinks and conversation.

IC-
The Queen herself poured the drinks for herself and the two ambassadors. "To a wondrous friendship" was the simple toast she offered.

"Do not worry. This quiet spot for a drink is just that, for drinks. I have no desire to engage in meaningful international discussion at present. There will be plenty of time for that in the future." The Queen made a point to insure the visitors to her home felt no need to be political or on guard.

"It does please me that you find our small Kingdom to your liking. And I realize just how far from your own homes you are. Khazaron and Lamoni are both on the oposite side of the region. That leads me to the point of this private meeting away from the ears that always seem to be around" Xyon and Kilp both gave knowing nods.

"It is not my intention that you and your families should take up a permanent residence in the stuffy living quarters allotted with your respective embassies. That is no way for a family to live. My wish is for each of you to be as comfortable here in The Kingdom as possible. To the northeast of WhiteHall was a small village located on the coast. That village has been newly rebuilt after years of neglect and given the name Ambassadorea. This village is by no means any sort of metropolis - yet. It is my honor to present each of you with an estate located in Ambassadorea where you can build a lasting home for your family's future. There are no strings attatched to this gift. I simply wish to show my grattitude and allow all ambassadors here to live a comfortable life. Ambassadorship is simply a job - and no job should require one to give up a happy life with their family."

The Queen waited for the objections to this gift she guessed would come. But her decision had been made. Family always took precedence in the Sylvanaes Kingdom.

A quiet knock on the door and a few simple words let all present know the Ball would begin shortly

A map showing the local area will be made available soon.

Mr.Kilp smiled as once again he was impressed by the Queen and her kingdom's generosity. "I must say Your Highness, I am overwhelmed and humbly accept such a wonderous gift. My only regret is that I do not have anything of equal value to give back to you as repayment. Although I would like to add that your castles you gave our respective governments for the embassies are by no means small or stuffy. I'm sure my two sons would love to play in the halls..." Kilp seemed to trail off, lost temporarily in an errant thought, then smirked as he seemed to think of something. "Then again, maybe it is better that I do have a regular house away from the embassy. I wouldn't want my boys to annoy my staff to much." He chuckled as he said this and toke a sip from his drink.

There was a soft smile on the face of the Lamonian ambassodor as he listened to the response from the Khazaronian Ambassodor. "Indeed, I married my wife 6 months ago, and we haven't had the time to raise children until now. I am happy to announce that my wife is now pregnant with our first child." Xyon sat back with the satisfied look of a first time father, and sipped his drink.

Map of the Sylvanaes Kingdom
Local Province Area around WhiteHall

"My congratulations to you Mr Xyon. I hope that you are as completely blessed with this child as your own parents were with you. There is nothing like family. Lord Dorian and I have 4 of our own. Thankfully only the youngest two remain at home now.

And Mr Kilp, there is nothing to repay. You have already paid enough in the form of leaving your home to begin life anew here for the time being. I do hope you like it well enough to stay for quite some time. As for your two boys, I am sure that our young Prince Alexander would love nothing more than to have them accompany him horseback riding. If that is not to your or their liking he also spends a lot of time playing football at a private pitch behind the palace. All the children around here do."

She spoke to both men now, "If you make arrangements with my staff, they will see to your estates being prepared for your arrival. Take some time after tonight to spend with your families. The move had to be hard on them. If there is nothing else, might I suggest we make our appearances at the ball? Lovely night for dancing."

OOC: First I'd like to say sorry... I've had some net problems but are now fixed.

IC:

Mr Frampton was there, he was shown his seat but had decided to ask for a tour of the palace, he was shown the areas of the palace he was allowed to see before returning to the Great Hall he noticed the Lamonian and Khazonian Ambassadors with the Queen missing.

"Where have they gone?" he asked the Myrtannian Ambassador

OOC: I hope it's alright if I join your little discussion a bit late. tongue.gif

OOC - Nice of you to join us again Baz. Glad to have you back.

IC -

"There you are Mr Frampton. I hope all was to your liking. At another time we can make arrangements for you to see even more of the palace and grounds, I'm sure.

I was just telling Mr Xyon and Mr Kilp how much my youngest enjoys the horses and football. Do you yourself have any children?" The Queen was curious about such things. People with families tended to care more about the quality of their work. That and the fact that she wished to make Mr Frampton wait a while before recieving his new gift of the estate.
