Sarzonia Stars

Coach: Chris Trautwig
Assistant: Troy Perkins

ROSTER (starting 11 in bold):

Goalkeepers
30 Tom Beneditto (Portland Timbers): After an up-and-down career with the Under 21 national team, Beneditto is looking for redemption. At 24 years old, he's also looking for a spot on the senior national team.
1 Marco Taglianetti (Saugerties Snakes): After leading the Stars during a previous AOCAF tournament, he's back to lead the team in its return to the tournament that brought the team into the world scene. He's now 32.

Defenders
2 Jeff Comstock (Nicksia Knights): After the Knights' surprise run through the NSFA Cup, Comstock signed a free agent contract with them. He brings speed and grit to the team. He's 25 years old.
4 Landra Tennison (Woodstock Justice, women's team): She earned a spot in the starting 11 on the Stars after an impressive tryout where she out-physicaled several men despite her 5 foot 6, 133 pound frame. At 29 years old, she'll stay in the starting 11 if she continues to play well.
5 Peter Salivani (Randolph Reavers): The older half-brother of Under 21 national team star Ettore, Peter took on his stepfather's last name after dealing with child abuse from his father Jordan Simmons. At 26 years old, Peter brings similar skills to the table.
8 Jeffrey Raven (unsigned): The older brother of Under 21 midfielder Jenna, Jeffrey only recently picked football back up after he quit the game four years ago. The 24 year old earned a spot in the starting 11 mostly on talent.
9 Kurt Laughton (Joe Gibbs University): Even though he's only 23 years old, he graduated from Joe Gibbs University at 19 following intense home schooling. Perhaps the smartest player on the pitch from a schooling perspective.

Midfielders
6 Larry Greig (Woodstock Wild): This 30 year old recent signee is one of the most rugged defencive midfielders in Sarzonia. Led the SFC with four red cards last season, so he needs to control his temper. Is in the best shape of his career.
19 Jenna Raven (Under 21 national team): After the abolishment of the Under 21 national team, Raven signed with the senior team, but will be getting experience playing in the AOCAF tournament first. She's 23 years old.
11 Bill Lucifer (Bristol): Led Sarzonia's top minor league with 22 assists and looks to continue in his role as the playmaker with the team in its SFC debut season. He turned 26 last month.
14 Steve Sanderson (Woodstock City College): After serving four years in the Incorporated Sarzonian Navy, this 29 year old went to school and played a couple of seasons for City College. His tenacity from serving in the military has led him to the team, along with his ability to play both defence and attack well.
16 Mark Davis (New Isselmere Dragons): Usually the first player off the bench for Juergens when Grieg starts getting heated, he could play defence in a dire pinch. He's 28 years old.
12 Mike Cole (Bristol Braves, minor league): Even though the Braves are listed as a minor league side, they will be promoted to the Sarzonian Football Confederation due to their dominant record and impressive attendance figures. Cole is also a rugby standout, having led the Sarzonia Galaxians to a surprise berth in the knockout rounds their first time out. At 25 years old, he gives Laughton a run for his money for brain power.

Forwards
15 Roy Spencer (Under 21 national team): Still listed with the Under 21s in spite of his age-related ineligibility and the team's abolishment, this 24 year old is looking for a pro team to sign him in spite of his aggressive nose for the goal.
46 John Clinton (Braeden Bayonets): Clinton starred for the Under 21 national team after replacing scoring legend Kenny Cooper but a last place performance at his last tournament there left him with a bad taste in his mouth. Just turned 27.

AOCAF X: The Spruitland Wabbits

Coach: Pete Peeters (34)
Peeters recently ended his playing career as left wingback for the Sativa Stoners, and was appointed as Cor Bensen’s assistant coach. He will be in charge of the squad for AOCAF X. He represented his country 9 times as a player.

Goalkeepers

1. Tristan Verelst (21, GK), Makosile United, Vilita – 1 caps, 2 conceded (15 U21 caps, 24 conceded)
Won the previous Under-21 World Cup with the Bunnies and has been more than holding his own in the Vilitan Stellar Division. Tipped as a future number one, Verelst gets to start in the AOCAF to gain experience.

12. Elmer Holt (31, GK), RFC Godiva – 0 caps
Secure goalkeeper of RFC Godiva, where he’s used to playing in a defensive team. Elmer has been called up as a backup goalie in the past, but has never left the bench. His age makes him a solid temporary backup rather than a future prospect in need of experience. Probably won’t leave the bench this time either.

Defenders

2. Fabiano Vos (32, DRC), Sporting Mayo – 11 caps
Technical defender, strong at set pieces. Prefers to play in the center, but can play on the right as well.

3. Asa Noegel (28, DL), Sporting Mayo – 24 caps
Fast, talented wing back with a killer cross. Was a starter for World Cup 23 Qualifying, but a few mediocre seasons at Mayo has made him fall slightly out of grace. He’ll be eager to prove he still has what it takes.

4. Nicolas Romeijn (26, DC), RFC Godiva – 3 caps
Pacey central back, was considered to be the man for the future a few years ago, but has since been passed over by some younger talents. Had a few substitute appearances, AOCAF X will be his first chance in the starting line-up.

5. Jakke Budts (26, DC), FC Albertine – 1 caps (4 U21 caps)
Jakke has been a solid center back for Spruitland champions FC Albertine for several seasons now, and he feels he deserves more than his one substitute appearance in AOCAF IX. This will be his chance to prove himself.

15. Detlef Weber (21, DLC), Taliki Tihrara'ny (Rej.) 0 caps (19 U-21 caps, 1 goal)
Regular starter for the Bunnies in the past three Under-21 World Cups, Detlef is looking to get noticed among the big boys to break into the senior squad.

16. Stan Hondts (25, DR), New Brux FC – 2 caps (9 U21 caps)
Flakey wingback, loves to rush forward, sometimes at the cost of his defensive duties. Stan got his two caps in AOCAF IX, and is waiting for a few retirements to move up a notch.

21. Chris Yugo (24, DL), Fonstown Rovers – 1 caps (5 U21 caps)
Solid and pacey wingback. Was once tipped as a future senior starter, but hasn’t been able to live up to those expectations so far. Appeared once in AOCAF IX.

Midfielders

6. Fisk Zachariah (27, MC), Rudderwick Rovers – 5 caps
Was once expected to push onwards for a starting central mid spot in the World Cup squad, but inconsistency has made him drop down a notch. For Fisk, too, AOCAF X will be his first chance as a starter.

7. Carlo Nicols (29, AMR), Noordlo Rovers – 10 caps
High-scoring right winger, can make a hell of a difference when he’s in form. Tends to be somewhat inconsistent, but has been able to keep the off-days to a minimum lately. Was the starting right winger at AOCAF IX, and occasionally comes off the bench in World Cup games.

8. Eduard Haacht (27, AMC), FC Albertine – 0 caps
As FC Albertine’s playmaker, it’s a bit of a surprise that he has never been called up to represent his country. A lack of pace is the most probably reason for that, though he makes up for that with great technical skills and precision passing.

11. Torsten Prins (21, AMLC), Noordlo Rovers – 2 caps (15 caps, 2 goals)
Won the Under-21 World Cup with the Bunnies. One of the candidates for the future left winger spot. Gets his chance in the AOCAF to gain experience.

14. Louis Pierre (29, AMRC), Sativa Stoners – 5 caps
Energetic attacking midfielder, can play right wing as well. Scores fairly easily. Last appeared during World Cup 23 Qualifying.

17. Thadeus Quintin (28, AMLC), Fonstown Rovers – 4 caps
Aggressive left winger, keeps going til he drops, which he occasionally does. Another WC23Q bench-sitter who got replaced by younger talent and now reappears in the AOCAF.

19. Ulrich De Ridder (25, MC), Thiel United – 2 caps (8 U21 caps)
Reliable midfielder, if not very spectacular. Was U-21 international and part of the AOCAF IX squad, but a lack of technique seems to limit his chances of breaking into the World Cup squad.

20. Fox Molyneux (24, AMC), Sativa Stoners – 0 caps
Fast attacking mid, loves to infiltrate the box. Has steadily progressed over the years at New Frigobox FC, and moved to Sativa last season, where he plays a more visible role. This is Fox’ first inclusion in any national squad, so he’ll be motivated.

Forwards

9. Ben Thorsen (32, SC, captain), Thiel United – 15 caps, 1 goal
Pacey little fellow, despite his age, with a surprising amount of power in his short legs. Was team captain in AOCAF IX, and a regular substitute in the BoF and WC23 Qualifying, but has since been passed over by younger talent.

10. Harry Ooyevaar (23, SC), Rudderwick Rovers – 2 caps (10 U21 caps, 3 goals)
Harry’s senior international experience is limited to a few substitute appearances in AOCAF IX, but his name is usually in the top ten of the First Division goalscorers list. He’s a strong, physical forward, with a nose for being in the right place at the right time.

13. Edmund Kidder (31, SC), Sporting Mayo – 5 caps
Intelligent striker, can be invisible most of the match and decide the game with a sudden touch of brilliance. Yet another BoF and WC23 Qualifying bench-sitter who was passed over by younger talents but was dug up again for the regionals.

18. Juri Kocarov (22, SC), Lepus FC – 0 caps (11 U-21 caps, 3 goals)
Has been part of the Under-21 squad for years, but always a step behind the top young talents. His temperamental nature and regular suspensions may be part of the reason for that, though when he’s in form, Juri’s pace can be lethal. Has a characteristic left ear, with a sizeable chunk bitten out of it by an Oaker player in U-21 WC16.

JASTICA NATIONAL TEAM

Updated: September 5, 2005 at 10:28pm after injury to substitute Frank Shant

Coach:
John Fisk
Age 45
Hometown: Kasai, Jastica
John has been coaching the national team for 3 years now preparing them for games at the regional and international level.

STARTERS
Note that Jastica does not use numbered jerseys

Goalie:
Luke Fields
Age 31
Hometown: Kili, Jastica
Has played internationally for over 10 years now. Is known for his spectatular saves and great leaping ability though sometimes he is overconfident.

Defenders:
Kirk Urlach
Age 28
Hometown: Volta, Jastica
Has played internationally at the left defender position for over 5 years now. IS extremely reliable and has finally matured into a solid player.

Greg Vasher
Age 29
Hometown: Victoria, Jastica
Has played internationally at the centre defender position for over 10 years including under-21 ball. Extremely reliable and the cornerstone of any defense.

Mike Brown
Age 26
Hometown: Volta, Jastica
A last second choice to be put at right defender spot. Extremely enthusiastic but has not had much experience abroad playing football.

Midfielders:
Vince Tate
Age 25
Hometown: Kalahari, Jastica
Despite his age he plays with extreme patience, waiting for attackers to make a mistake before pouncing. Rarely goes offensive.

Frank Dustin
Age 34
Hometown: Marra, Jastica
A well seasoned veteran of the game. Has played for almost 20 years at both the adult level and under-21 level internationally. Brings solid experience to the midfield of Jastica's national team.

Gary Driter
Age 40
Hometown: Marra, Jastica
Though he has only 2 years of international experience he knows the game as well as anyone in the world. That said with his age he tends to give up on balls that others might pursue.

Tony Manderton
Age 21
Hometown: Atlas, Jastica
Pure speed on the right side. His sprinting ability is superb though many observers feel he needs more experience before playing for the national team.

Forwards:
Jim Sandervessie
Age 37
Hometown: Marra, Jastica
Questionable as a starter however his arching corner kick is by far one of the best in the sport.

Kevin Vandersteel
Hometown: Kili, Jastica
Age 35
His lack of speed diminishes his skill as a strategist. Will out think and outplay most defenders however the lack of speed allows him to be only effective to a point.

Eka Tikarem
Age 33
Hometown: Atlas, Jastica
The 'pest' on the team. Is able to 'goad' opposition defenders into at the least making mistakes by constantly taunting them while the game is in progress, at the worst commiting flagerant fowls. The nicest guy off the field but a real annoyance in any defenders end. Has the most accurate shot on the national team too which makes him even more annoying.

Substitutes:
Harry Colon (goalie)
Jake Iceland (goalie)
Peter Oronoc (defender)
Edward Regal (defender)
Quincy Mustaville (defender)
Frank Shant (midfielder) injured - broken nose (out for remainder of the tournament)
John Carter (midfielder)
Steve Sheridan (midfielder)
George Gakar (forward)
Mike Lomari (forward)
Gus Petrosomos (forward)

Hockey Canada AOCAF Squad

The Hockey Canada Canucks will be coached by Toe Blake to lead the Canucks to a few wins. The Manager for the team is in queston.

Goalkeepers:

90- Kyle Thomas [18] (Cefn Albion) 54 Caps- Great goalie and experienced, he's writing the Hockey Canadian record book while he's still in his teens.
33- Damien Marx [24] (Darkside FC) 2 Caps- Good goalie to back up Thomas, Marx is just playing at the wrong time. Pity for a great keeper though.
0- Alexi Tarasov [25] (Vancouver FC) 0 Caps- On the rare occasion that Marx cannot furfill his duties as a keeper, Tarasov will step up gratefully.

Defenders:

4- Yanic Perrault [25] (Yakutsk) 49 Caps- 2nd highest scorer only to Kulkarni, Perrault just might make the Hall of Fame one day.
6- Petr Sylanko [33] (Anadyr) 24 Caps- The aging defender has been plagued with injuries but has the heart to continue.
8- John Cormack [35] (Vancouver FC) 16 Caps- Cormack may not be the quickest defender, but his sense of play makes him a dangerous threat to other teams.
10- Timmy "Timmah!" Johnson [29] ("Special" Care Centre) 14 Caps- He's "Special" off the field, but really "Special" on the field.
12- Kenny McKormick [29] (Revuocnav) 19 Caps- He's poor showing and underbelly of Hockey Canada. But his playing skills make him top-notch.
14- Evgeni Zimin [34] (Federal District) 23 Caps- A small and quick defender who isn't afraid to scrap up the field.
16- Leopold "Butters" Scotch [29] (Irkutsk) 20 Caps- He's got talent, but just afraid to use it in most games.
17- Tommy Hydulov [20] (Vancouver) 0 Caps- The rookie has big things expected.

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 95 ] Jawz Oaker [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jawz Oaker is the son of Colonial Sile and Oaker national midfielder Arthin Oaker, who moved to Vilita early in his career after his impressive performances for Oaker in past World Cups. Jawz was called up to the Vilita Under 21 squad as Oaker did not participate in the Under-21's, qualifying through his residency and his Mother, a Vilitan. The young keeper spent most of Season 15 on loan to Mavaloiao, before being recruited by Doug Freech's Lopinka side, Declasse champions looking for a starting keeper for their return campain in the Stellar Division. However, hometown Makosile's vast improvements in Season 16 saw the youngster quick to return home to bask in the spotlight with one of Vilita's rising new powers. Despite earning the Goalkeeper of the year award, Oaker's team was not able to compete and spent more time at the bottom of the table then the top, prompting the young keeper to depart once again, this time to Champions League bound inland Peaks FC.

[ 91 ] Jimmy Jaded [ - Turoki Tide - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 14 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jimmy Jaded became one of the youngest players in Vilitan history to receive a professional contract when his Turoki Tide were invited to the Vilitan Declasse in Season 18. Jaded was the only keeper left at the small Turoki club after senior keeper Mital Siegalafel retired at the age of 47 due to injury and fatigue. The Tide will be looking to bring in some experienced cover for Jaded during the season, but the youngster impressed former Goalkeeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker enough to become the youngest player ever called into the Vilitan Under 21 squad, Duiker asking Jaded to cover as backup for Jawz Oaker in Under 21 World Cup 18. The potential of Jimmy Jaded was quickly spotted, and the youngster made a cross-town switch to the Stellar Division to join Turoki United for Season 21.

------- GK ( AGE: 30 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

After the dissolution of the Giant Zucchini government, Shelton applied for a Vilitan passport and which was granted, allowing the 29 year old Goalkeeper to claim eligibility for the Vilitan international teams.

DEFENDERS:

[ 5 ] Petros Alfieri [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 32 GOALS::SR: 1 U21: 1 REG: 1 )
Petros Alfieri is just the next in the ever growing list of impressive defenders coming from the Marine Coast Academy. Coached by utility player Baron O'Toole and defensive great elekim Cairns, the Marine Coast Academy has already graduated names like Cairns, Enzo Ahat and Sibusiso Azaiez. Alfieri, a strict Central Defender, has a bit of a temper to overcome before seeing a regular starting role with the National Team, being sent off multiple times in the Vilitan League season, including an embarrassing dismissal against non-league Mliona-Lpaka that led to Marine Coast's early exit from the Vilitan Cup. After 9 seasons with Marine Coast, Alfieri moved back to his home in Turori and took a place with Cednia Beach AFC in Season 19 After a season back in Turori, Aflieri was offerered a player/coaching role at Inland Peaks and opted to take the position.

[ 67 ] Ade Hinds [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 24 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Ade Hinds transferred to Turoki Isle for Vilitan Season 14 after the Islanders made a surprise shift towards Vilitan based talent, offloading foreigners Alejandro Vantrease and Henrik Bastale, but returned one season later back home to Eastal Lunar. ------- D R ( AGE: 27 GOALS::SR: 2 U21: 0 REG: 2 )

[ ] Jonathon Bijl [ - Mliona-Lpaka (TUR) - ]
------- D/DM L ( AGE: 32 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ 93 ] Jaloey Afrikka [ - Turoki United - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 37 GOALS::SR: 1 U21: 1 REG: 1 )
Jaloey Afrikka is one of the quiet talents in the Vilita lineup. A regular in the team since graduating from the Under-21 side, Jaloey is always in the roster somewhere, either starting or on the bench, when the Vilitan teamsheet is announced. With the retirement of Vilitan defensive legends Giacomo Adika and Enzo Ahat, Afrikka finds himself as first-choice Central Defender for the World Cup 19 Finals. Afrikka will have added confidence after returning home to Jlinal Cove FC, the club where he got his start, after a stint in the Stellar Division with Turoki Isle and Strike FC. The well travelled Afrikka isone of few players known to have featured for the Vilitan Trio, after signing with Yeaddin Owls, Afrikka featured for Strike FC and Marine Coast United in addition to a host of other teams throughout his career. Afrikka has announced his international retirement following World Cup 22.

DEFENSIVE MID:

[ 36 ] Aman Dedur [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 26 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Aman Dedur moved to Lonngeylin City after playing in his home country, The Eagles Nest. While Dedur's performances were not spectacular, his talent was spotted by Inland Peaks who groomed him into a midfielder worth the look of Marine Coast United in season 15. A series of impressive performances including the Stellar Division Championship promted a move to the Yeaddin Owls.

[ 33 ] Michele Mariano [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- DM LC ( AGE: 27 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 0 REG: 1 )

[ 31 ] Christian Sanou [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
------- D DM RC ( AGE: 29 GOALS::SR: 2 U21: 2 REG: 0 )
A star out of place in his lowly club side, Sanou is leading the new crop of Defensive Midfielders being trained under Vilitan legend Jurgen Ramzi. Ramzi was recruited by Jlinal Cove FC after their relegation to the Declasse Division of the Vilitan Football Pyramid, and since has introduced a wealth of Defensive Midfield talent to Vilitan head coach Helmut Vilkaus. Under-21 International Sanou has risen from absolutely nowhere under Ramzi's leadership to bypass Liverpool England based Antonis Ratuva and Corra Rangers' Lai Otieno to challenge Ramzi himself for his place in the starting lineup for World Cup 19. Sanou established himself in the Vilitan squad, and earned himself a transfer in Season 16 to Vilita Cup 15 winners Eastal Lunar, after many seasons at Jlinal Cove.

MIDFIELDERS:

[ 52 ] Thierry Columbo [ - Turoki Isle - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 26 GOALS::SR: 2 U21: 3 REG: 2 )

Columbo was an instant hit at the club, and helped lead them to the Declasse Division title and a place in the Stellar Division starting in Season 14. Columbo became a hot commodity after performances for new club Makosile, and signed with Strike FC for Season 17. After a pair of mediocre seasons with Strike, head coach Santo Kecker decided it was time to bring in some new talent with the clubs earnings from their position atop the Stellar Division in season 18. Midfield Star Antonis Siazzu took Columbo's role at Strike, eventually forcing the midfielder to move on and sign a deal with Turoki Isle midway through season 19.

In his first season at Strike, 17 year old Marelja started nearly every match and tallied 8 goals from the wing, helping Strike to the Stellar Division title. Dishing out the single largest transfer fee since Riccardo Appolloni's transfer to Inland Peaks in Season 16, 19 year old Vilitan wing phenom Esorijan Marelja made the switch to inconsistent Jlinal Cove FC with a promise of being the centerpiece in which the squad would be molded for time to come

Mitaroka never developed into the powerhouse force that was expected from his early performances, but is expected to make a great coach one day do to his leadership both on and off the field at Yeaddin Owls AFC. Mitaroka has indicated he may retire from the International scene after the World Cup Finals in Turori, to concentrate on coaching and regional competitions. After a long and successful career at Yeaddin Owls AFC, Mitaroka moved to Inland Peaks in Season 17 to take on a role as Player/Manager

[ 44 ] Bevan Holness [ - Mavaloiao - ]
