From founding to independence
Pedriana was founded in the late 2010s (October 2003 IRL) mainly to serve as the nation of Bedistan's delegate to the region of FIFA. Pedro I, whom the land was named after, was installed as Pedriana's dictator with full support from the Bedistani government. Though seen by most of the world as a separate nation, Pedriana actually remained a Bedistani dependency for several years.
Much like Great Britain in the mid-18th century, Bedistan in the 2020s became otherwise occupied and began to forget about its colony of Pedriana. Unlike the United States, though, Pedriana had no need to go to war to become fully independent; the mother nation willfully granted independence instead. However, the dictatorship in Pedriana lived on under the semi-psychotic rule of Pedro I.
The dark times
Once Pedro I died, Pedriana fell into chaos. Over a period of a few years, unspeakable horrors from the then-nearby nations of Oglethorpia and Kingsford emerged from the jungles and terrorized the land. Eight-foot-tall, eight-legged Giant Evil Spiders were taking over. The vast majority of the humans in Pedriana fled for neighboring nations, but a few stayed behind. Pedro II, the son of Pedro I, would be the one to finally tame the spiders. Well, not tame, exactly, but at least keep them from overrunning the dictator's palace. The Giant Evil Spiders agreed (they're semi-sentient, after all) to live under Pedro II's rule, and Pedro became the new dictator. One year Pedro even managed to get about a dozen of them together and sent them to play in the Giant Evil Spider Football League hosted by Little Miss Muffet.
Modern times and Atlantian Oceania
Eventually the Giant Evil Spiders started to die off as a result of pollution from neighboring nations, though they remained Pedriana's national animal. Humans moved back in for some inexplicable reason--over a billion of them. The cities and towns swelled and Pedro II ran out of ways to oppress them all. Pedriana even made international news again as part of some sort of exile plot involving Bedistan, Halfassedstates, and a football coach.
Pedro II died just a few months ago. When his son, Pedro III, took power, he chose to style himself Emperor of Pedriana rather than its dictator (though he still has all the powers of his father). He also decided that FIFA had become too boring for his modern nation and made the decision to move to Atlantian Oceania after receiving an invitation from the leader of Vilita. Pedriana is already competing in the second AOCAF tournament, its first sporting event since the demise of the old GESFL. |
