Official Bid to Host the 56th AOCAF Cup
Nation Background Known throughout the multiverse for its majority population of sapient equines, the Equestrian States is a diverse and advanced island nation located in southwestern Atlantian Oceania. Ruled by Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, the Equestrian States is a constitutional monarchy in name, though the Princess and the royal family hold considerably more political power than in most constitutional monarchies and thus play an active role in the country's government. Technologically, the nation is very advanced for one that only emerged from isolation a few decades ago, combining technology imported from its allies with magic to quickly modernize without the pollution seen in many countries which undergo rapid industrialization. Described by many as a pleasant utopia inhabited by a friendly and diverse population of numerous sapient species which happily welcomes foreigners, the Equestrian States is a natural host nation with an economy which thrives on tourism and sports.
Resume The user behind the Equestrian States is one of NS Sports' more experienced hosts, having co-hosted six WCC events (including the last World Cup) as well as numerous other smaller tournaments such as the Di Bradini Cup, World Bowl, World Baseball Classic, and World Cup of Hockey.
Format By my count we currently have 28 nations signed up for the tournament, the same number we had last time around. The overall format will be simple enough, regardless of numbers: a single round robin group stage held in the Equestrian States followed by a knockout stage. If possible, I'd prefer to have 32 nations as it's the most straightforward format.
28 Teams: 7 Groups of 4; Top 2 to Ro16, Best 2 3rd to Ro16 30 Teams: 6 Groups of 5; Top 2 to Ro16, Best 4 3rd to Ro16 32 Teams: 8 Groups of 4; Top 2 to Ro16 36 Teams: 6 Groups of 6; Top 2 to Ro16, Best 4 3rd to Ro16
Tiebreakers Overall Record Head-to-Head Record Head-to-Head Goal Differential Overall Goal Differential Head-to-Head Goals For Overall Goals For Playoff (if necessary to determine advancement)
Scorinator & RP Bonus If chosen, I will use the latest version of xkoranate with the NSFS formula and xkoranate-style (additive) style mods. The latest AOCAF rankings will be used for the tournament. RPs will be judged based on quality and creativity over quantity and frequency. Bonuses will be fairly generous to encourage active RPing by all participants and a roster bonus will also be available, as usual.
Questions? Got a question? Feel free to ask it here, shoot me a TG, or get in touch via IRC. I'll try to answer it as best I can. |

You've also bid to host the next IBC; if you win host bid voting for both events are you certain you'd be able to run both tournaments while keeping up with RL?
Also, would this present any IC logistical and/or financial challenges to your nation? |

I'm quite confident it wouldn't pose me too much difficulty at this point, since I expect the overall workload would still be less than the typical WCQ MD. I'd also be following the same scheduling pattern as last time for the AOCAF with off days between matches, which should also help with keeping the workload manageable.
As for whether or not it would present any IC logistical/financial challenges, that's actually an angle that I'd really like to explore if I do end up hosting both. The short answer is not really, at least as far as the AOCAF Cup is concerned. The stadiums and infrastructure are already well established for hoofball/football/soccer and Equestrians are generally far more interested in the AOCAF Cup than the IBC. Things get more interesting where the IBC is concerned, with there being few dedicated stadiums in place and basically no public interest to begin with, which certainly wouldn't be helped by the Equestrian States hosting the two events at roughly the same time.
I've got some other ideas for dealing with it ICly, but they're probably more likely to impact the IBC than the AOCAF. Of course, all of this assumes that I win the host job for both tournaments, which could very well end up not happening given I've got a pretty strong rival bid for the IBC from Qasden.
