AO Forum :: > Regional Discussion > Protests Hit Outer Cities

Posted by: Krytenia Mar 25 2005, 09:26 PM
Protesters hit the streets of the Outer Cities of Krytenia, mere days after word reached the Alliance of Unaligned Krytenian Settlements (AUKS) that their request to be wholly incorporated into Krytenia had been denied. The protests were mainly peaceful, however three arrests were made after a fight broke out between a small group of protesters and a police officer in the village of Heforsley.

A spokesman for AUKS said:
"We are highly disappointed in the Atlantian Oceanian decision not to grant Krytenian sovereignty over this area. We intend to rectify this as soon as possible, and hopefully the Chairman will give us his personal backing once again."

Chairman Warzycha was unfit to comment at this time, as he has been taken ill and is under medical supervision.

Imperator Tyrannvs was quoted today,

"Political protests are such a bother. May I recommend execution of the dissenters?"

Imperator Tyrannvs was quoted today,

"Political protests are such a bother. May I recommend execution of the dissenters?"

Chairman Samuel Warzycha, fresh from his hospital stay, today quoted:

"We are in full support of the AUKS movement, and are in the process of renewing all nessecary documents. Please, we beseech this land be granted to us."

President Lauir was quoted as saying, "Territorial accusations bore me more. Not like anyone else needs the land right now, we might as well let the terrorist bastards have it. Oh, and its something else for others to take should the need arise..."

President Lauir was quoted as saying, "Territorial accusations bore me more.  Not like anyone else needs the land right now, we might as well let the terrorist bastards have it.  Oh, and its something else for others to take should the need arise..."

Chairman Warzycha listened to the soundbite again in his personal chambers. An aide entered the room.

CW: "Can the Xileans not even support us without threatening us?"

Aide: "Apparently not. So what happened with the arrest attempt then?"

CW: "The intel was a pile of crap. Our men stumbled upon the Jhanna Amateur Dramatics Society."

Aide: "Oh boy. So how did they get out of there - surely they were arrested?"

CW: "They were, but then claimed to be Druidan - the case was thrown out on the grounds of insanity."

Aide: "So what are we going to do about the land problem?"

CW: "What can we do? All we can do is sit here and wait for a decision while the Outer Cities go to Hell in a handbasket. Or Xile."

Aide: "Give me Hell any day of the week."

The two men chuckled.

The Lamonian Foreign Ministry made a statement on the matter:

"The Free Republic supports Krytenia's quest to add the so-called 'Outer Cities' to their nation. The land is already virtually Krytenian by virtue of there being so many Krytenians living there, anyway. This should not be taken as a measure of support for Krytenian terrorist actions, however. The Free Republic denounces terrorism as a means to any end."

President Tariskany looked at the report, laughed, and carried on with his daily reading of the comics.

The Chairman read the paper, and turned a strange shade of violet.

"BEDISTAN?!?!?!? The AO Council have given the Outer Cities to BEDISTAN?!?!?!?"

His aide looked up.

"Maybe we should send an envoy there, come to an agreement."

"Aggreed, my aide. Get me Mr Gomina. He's our best shot..."

(...) (AUKS) that their request to be wholly incorporated into Krytenia had been denied. (...)

Latao Secretary of foreign Affairs, Müller asked the Federal President:

Did I understand that wrong, or my English so worse ? The AUKS wants its territory and its people to be integrated into the state of Krytenia, what the state of Krytenia denied ? - Well, usually it's the other way around

The Federal President then replied:
If these people feel that they belong to Kryteria, why denies the government there that their own people join the homeland, which would even increase their territory ? These Kryterians and "relateds" confuse me...

Hm..we can only guess what this is all about - maybe the AUKS would demand large payments from the Kryterian state...

The Confederacy of Latao will however not mix itself into these internal affairs of the souvereing state of Krytenia, unless we are explicitly invitied to do so. Latao doesn't have many interessts there, since this is not our direct neighbourhood.

Paul Gomina had been driving for a good eight hours now, and was glad that he was nearly at the destination. He admired the scenery of the Bedistani capital, then consulted the SatNav unit on the dash. He swung the saloon to the right, and continued on.

A few minutes later, he parked the car, took out his briefcase. He stepped up to the building, and checked the plaque on the wall.

"Bedistani Foreign Office. Yup, this is the place."

Public Broadcast:

The Holy Saints fully supports Krytenia's claim upon 'The Outer Cities' and see no reason for their rejection of said territory.

On noticing the Krytenian delegate's arrival, Foreign Minister Teko Gastapo invited him into his office.

"So, I understand you're here regarding Bedistani occupation of the so-called 'Outer Cities'. To be perfectly honest, this was the result of a mistake on the part of our western reconaissance units - we simply didn't notice the Krytenian claims in the area. Now, to be honest, I see that it would be fair for you to have your original claims restored. On the flip side, it would be difficult to move the Bedistani citizens that have already gone out there, as they are still weary from the move to Atlantian Oceania. So I'll simply ask you: what terms would you agree to in this situation?"

Mr Gomina furtled around in his briefcase, pulled out a map, and unfolded it onto the table.

"This area here (points to the dark cyan area) was our original plan, put before the Region. Luckily, for the most part, this will not be imposing on major Bedistani cities in the area. This, Mr Gastapo, is Proposal One.

However, the problem lies (points to purple area) here. Washington. Proposal Two is simple. The 'purple bit' stays wholly Bedistani.

Now, for both Proposals, we further propose that the are has a 'transitional phase', say, eighteen months, where power is transferred. During this time, we propose that the Outer Cities themselves remain part of Bedistan, but prepare for Krytenian rule. This will also give both nations time to change border arrangements, switch currency use in the area, and otherwise get the logistics out of the way."

Well, that was easier than I thought, Gastapo said to himself. "Proposal Two looks perfectly acceptable to me. And eighteen months seems long enough for a transitional phase."

Gastapo extended his hand. "You have yourself a deal."

Gomina shook Gastapo's hand, folded up the map, and closed the briefcase. He turned to his Bedistani counterpart and spoke.

"The Chairman will arive personally tomorrow, to sign all the paperwork and make this official. I must say, this was quicker than expected. We should negotiate more often!" Gomina chuckled, and beamed a wide smile. Today was a job very well done.
