It is that special time of year that us in West Guiana dislike the most our choice, the people's choice to elect or re-elect our president who will lead this country for the next five years. However though during this time, we must honor the past in hopes the future will bring better days.
Five years ago President Calman was assassinated while he was at a polling station in August of 2007, shortly after he won the election but his vice President Don Hum took office two months latter. In April 2008 he to was killed, and his Vice President Bev Humpington took office, in January 2009 she was impeached for treason during the West Guiana Civil War.
Now five years latter we come together..or should I say divided of who should represent West Guiana. The three candidates this time around are:
President Samuels of the Socialist Party, his platform is simply to continue the same policies, which in recent months have put West Guiana in a recession with unemployment now around 8.7%.
Mike Jackson of the United Communist Party, who believes in the greater good of the nation, by reinforcing funding towards education, health care and defense. He believes that the nation should nationalize its oil industry saying that doing this would decrees the national debt, which under Samuels has doubled to 12.9 trillion.
Ashley La'Verna of the Democratic-Republican Party who believes that West Guiana has become to socialistic in its national priorities and needs to start encouraging growth in the privet sector once more. She believes the National Healthcare Act of 2008 needs to go saying that is has taken over insurance companies and forcing the government in areas where it doesn't belong. Never mind that she is in favor of banning Gay Marriage and regulating a woman's right over her own body. ----------------------------------- First Presidential debate coming soon! |

The first of two debate for the presidential candidates in this debate the topics will largely focus on education, diplomacy, economy, energy sustainability, defense/military and personal rights. Each candidate will be given three minutes to give an answer for each question. _____________________________
Now for the three of you, each has touched on the importance of a good education in this country going forward what is your plan for West Guianan students?
President David Samuels My plan to further advance education in West Guiana is to first start with the number of teachers that we don't have, right now the national average of student to teacher ratio is 16:1 and that is way to high in my own opinion. We need to provide grants to those who wish to become teachers and help pave their way into and out of college. Next we must focus on the education standards in math and science because in this century all the needed jobs will be electronics and better technology.
Mike Jackson Look unlike the President my plan would involve the nation as a whole, what we need to really do is increase funding towards education. But it's not the number of teachers that is what we need, what we need is schools that center around one type of career to help students. What I propose is that by the eight grade each student will take a test of what interests them the most. By high school they will be funneled into programs that will help them in their interests, their entire high school studies will be focused on what career they'd like to go with moving forward. This would save money and time, what my advisers have estimated this would save the nation around WG 4.7 billion dollars over ten years.
Ashley La'Verna Unlike the other two here my plan is simple, allow schools to be privatized companies can simply pick which students that they want to have in their schools and the rest can be in public schools, this plan would save the nation around $74.2 billion each year. |
