Proposed Regional Softball Tournament

In the tradition of such tournaments as the AOCAF (now in its fifth running) and the so far one-shot Ainorpisp Invitational Tournament, the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp wishes to invite all comers to a new tournament. Instead of the regional mainstay sport of football/soccer, we would like it to be known that we would like to host a regional championship tournament of our national sport - softball. Participating teams should be national teams instead of individual clubs, in order to best represent the nations involved. Through this tournament, we hope to further strengthen our bonds with the AO international community as well as celebrate the spirit of athletic competition.

Venues for this tournament include:

Everglade Villa Stadium (Everglade Villa, Central Province) - Capacity: 40,000

National Field (Sarmatia, Central Province) - Capacity: 56,000

Fernway Park (Bastogne, NE Province) - Capacity: 43,571

Vrjiebutier Stadium (Neu Amsterdam, SE Province) - Capacity: 45,000

Participating teams will be grouped depending on the number of entrants and will then play a round-robin schedule against each team in their respective group. The top finisher of each group will then move on to the quarterfinals in a more tournament-type single elimination match schedule until a champion is determined. Ainorpisp's National Team will compete, but all comers are more than welcome and encouraged to participate - and team rosters would be very helpful.

Big Pimento look forward to sending a team made up of the finest beer leaguers in the country. We're solid beer ballers and usually play our best semi-intoxicated, but we'll see how we'll fare going bone dry. Worst case scenario, we'll just get liquored up in the hotel room.

A 45-man evaluation camp is currently taking place and the roster will be narrowed down to 25 shortly.

So far, there are 5 nations registered for the Softball Tournament, but more nations would be more than welcome. Also, to those nations participating and who haven't already, please get your rosters up ASAP.

In the interim, the Ainorpispian team would like to invite Lamoni to compete in an exhibition match as both teams have official rosters now. The game would be held at Fernway Park in Bastogne as a friendly match to open the festivities, and will have no consequences regarding official standings.

The Sacred Land of Ainorpisp is pleased that Lamoni has agreed to the exhibition game, and will make the necessary preparations. While we await the arrival of the other nation's teams and hope for more entrants, this will give both Lamoni and Ainorpisp both a taste of international competition. In accordance with the exhibition game, the Ainorpispian National Team (AKA Ainorpisp Amazons) have released a gameday batting lineup.
