The Republic is dead, the Presidency has been abolished and a new era has arisen. Today, in a ceremony in Hypocrium, Titus Drax officially adopted the title of “Autokrator” and declared that the nation had been reborn as the “Imperial Autocracy”.
Since the military coup that had removed the democratically elected President Jacobi and installed, then General, Drax as the nation’s leader Hypocria had been a Republic in name alone but now even that illusion has been cast aside.
However Hypocria’s leader remains hugely popular with the people after strengthen the economy, lowering taxes (a 3% tax cut on the eve of this announcement has been described as a “happy coincidence” by officials) and leading the nation out of the international wilderness. The cult of personality surrounding the leader has grown immensely since his rise to power with thousands of statues and posters bearing his resemblance scattered throughout the capital and every other major city and national symbols such as the currency and the vast international airport carry his name. It is undeniably this popularity, unseen to this scale ever before in Hypocria, that has enabled the new Autokrator to assume the absolute power he holds.
With this transformation has come other changes. The Departments that made up the central government are now Ministries, their Directors are now Ministers. The Republican Palace, the Republican District of Hypocrium and the Republican Guard are also set to be renamed.
The Autokrator, after leaving the ceremony, headed straight for Drax International and the jet waiting to carry him to his first imperial engagement, a meeting with other national leaders in the city of Bisarley in Northern Starblaydia.
