(OOC:Let's just pretend that this takes place before my whole "Let's get to LC announcement.)

As the conversations between the Lamonian and Khazaronian bigwigs where going on, Khara became aware of the presence of a man standing behind him. It was the ship's comms officer, Khara excused himself from the table and met with the man. "What's the news?" he said, noticing that the man carried a recently printed piece of paper.

"We've just recieved word from back home, Abbatoir has officially joined the war."

Khara nodded. "That was a given." he said, then seemed to be mulling over something in his head, staring at the floor of the room. Finally, after several uncomfortable minutes, he returned his gaze towards the officer. "I want you to contact the Nedalians and see if they would be interested in joining our little effort here. If they agree, request that they have their forces ready to go as soon as we enter their waters. That way we can keep moving without having to stop much." The officer nodded, saluting Khara as he left to relay the message.

Alvin Reckno was going over the list of equipment, people that had been sent to TLC to aid in it's defense against the invading armies.

Everything on the list from food supplies and salt shakers to the Main Battle tanks and ammunition on the list.

It was categorised into 5 areas. Arms, which where pretty much the pistol side-arms and assault rifles purchased from the PIW and the sniper long-range rifles, the Ammunition/Projectile category used to show how much ammunuition and other stockpiles of tank projectiles had been sent over. Heavy Equipment, this was all the various tanks and such that had been sent. Non-Combat Supply. Included the various food, medical and general items to run a campaign. The fifth category was a full 2 million personnel from cooks and administration staff to hospital nurses, doctors and such to infantry regiments as well as people manning the Heavy equipment.

The deployment of the troops was still in full swing, about half of the total 2 million had been sent into TLC and the 900 or so Heavy AirTransport planes had already deposited all of the heavy equipment in TLC. There where engaging in minor war games to prepare for an upcoming assault.

"Hang on... There are no Artillery units or even any SAM launches. I thought we where going to send them in the initial wave?" said Alvin Reckno.

He got off the chair he was sitting on and range the Minister of Defense, "Hey, Lucas, There are apparently no Artillery or SAM equipment that we have deployed into TLC. Why's this?"

"We have Artillery and SAM Units?"

"I'm sure I saw it on the PIW order form ages ago."

"Well I'll go look and if we do I'ss send a thousand or whatever. Is that alright then?"

"Yeah, go for it."

...

Later a second wave of Bazalonian Heavy cargo planes with a fighter escort followed the same path as the initial wave...

In this second wave 1000 T-Rex and 1000 Panther Self-Propelled Artillery units where sent to TLC along with 1000 Porcupine SAM launching armoured combat Vehicle. A total of 15,000 additional troops where required to man these equipment

Alliance Security Room, 16 Canford Street, Graham City

Chief of Staff Andrew Jons sat in the Security Room waiting for General Myers, Admiral Stroumopolis and General Delioao. The battle for former Legalese had been fierce but fast, with the three divisions covering the withdrawal of Headquarters and Administration Division. They had taken fairly light casualties in the battle for the City, but simply lacked the numbers with which to combat the massing Starblaydi and Footballian troops. The latest group of Bazalonians was being deployed to the front line, though the command structure was getting a little hazy, it was quite clear who was in charge, and that was the dear General Myers. The three staff officers arrived, apologized for their lateness, and then began their briefing with the PE and the rest of the War Cabinet.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the war did not open well for us. The first Battle of Lake Bekk was not a good showing for us, and while we caused some damage, the attack on the Justus means that we have been reduced in effectiveness in operating within Lake Bekk. While we have our own borders secure, we cannot guarantee we can stop a battle of attrition. Our ship-building facilities on the Lake are limited to Gunboats and Frigates, and we cannot transport our heavier ships to the facilites there. We need to create more shipbuilding facilities and upgrade our air-superiority priority over the Lake. We can match and beat the Starblaydis in terms of technology, but we cannot match them in numbers. We need to make every downed Highlander-V count for eight-to-ten Starblaydi F-23S.

I have the casualty lists for you to consider from the Lake Bekk, Crystil Channel and Legalese City Battles."

"Legalese City is ours, my Lady!"

Lord Carlito Orfosi, Minister for War - previously merely 'Defence' - was giving his daily update to the Inner Council. Finally the former capital of Legalese was theirs, and the surrounding cities would soon follow in its wake.

"Thank the Lord," His Holiness Philippou Tsalikassis clasped his hands together and muttered a not-so-silent prayer for the fallen. It was about as useful as anything he'd ever done on the council up until now, such was the sheer blandness of his personality. Viannor was beginning to wonder if investing this particular priest as her pawn on the council had really been worthwhile.

"Why so many casualties?" Lord Bruntos asked. The Minister for Finance was having his purse cut from the silent theif that was the armed forces; everything that could be spared was being thrown at the military machine in some form or another. "We've had the men and material to conquer that city three times over by now."

"Those bloody walking tanks," Orfosi spat, they had been the bane of every single report back from the Legalese City sector, "their entire system is set up to fight on streets and in buildings."

"So don't fight them there." Viannor spoke for the first time since the meeting had begun. "You all know as well as I that the Army is nigh-on unbeatable on open ground, so the key is simple. Fight them on a field, not a pavement. We'll bring our forces to bear on them: fast, mobile and aggressive. We will surround their cities and pound them out of existence. Blue will be replaced by purple.

"Or I will want to know why."

The armoured column was racing across the north-eastern parts of the Allied States. This was their country, now, the open plains dotted with roads, farms and small settlements making up their hunting ground. T-7 Gilgamesh tanks were proving to be excellent vechiles for crushing all before them. They had not been worth their price tag in the crowded streets of Legalese City, as few tanks would, but when the horizon could be seen the Gilgamesh was King.

A succession of armoured fists had swept across the land at breakneck speed, skirting around the cities, the Army ready to deal with those later. With close-in air support from deadly helicopter gunships and daring attack-fighter pilots, as well as the skirmishing provided by the Errant Utility Vehicle, the Starblaydi Armoured Cavalry unit was working in it's fully, most deadly effect.

The Clansmen had attempted to put something of a roadblock in their path - a loose collection of units that could join together to form something other than a hopeless defence against the oncoming armour. Even so, hopeless it had been. As well trained and organised as they were, even the greatest communications and intelligence-sharing battlefield system in the region simply could not make up for the swift and brutal juggernaut that was the vanguard of the Starblaydi Army.

They had smashed through the thin defensive line, circled around to their left and annihilated the eastern flank of the Clansmen. As the western half attempted to form some kind of a battle line, defensive pocket, or whatever their commander had envisaged, the tanks had turned on them quicker than ad been thought possible. The roadblock had proven to be nothing more than a speedbump, and Starblaydia's forces pressed ever onwads in the open country, making sure each city was surrounded, cut off and pounded from all sides.

Behind the lines, however, Starblaydia's Law and Order machine had kicked in. Thousands upon thousands of police officers swarmed into the lands of former Legalese, keeping looting and rioting to an acceptable minimum. Many were veterans who had pacified Legalese during the ten years it had been under Starblaydi control, and others were experienced in the annexation of Aquiliana, and some who had even been young men and women when Nemya was brought under Starblaydi control.

The police walked around in their black uniforms doing the normal things that policemen do across the world, but behind them came something more sinister. The nstrument of terror and control: the KERES. They murdered, assassinated, burned, blew up, threatened, kidnaped and cajoled. These female operatives were there tp bring Legalese into Viannor's shadow, to pacify and silence the people as they did so effectively to the other five and a half billion people living within Starblaydia's borders.

Soon they'd get their hands on the oil fields of southern Legalese, now the northern tip of The Lowland Clans itself. Once they had those, the Inner Council and Viannor would have acheived their immediate aims - any further progression was at the discretion of the Lady-Protector, though the will of her people would play a part.

Aboard the KNV Carain, Patriarch Khara and the assembled League commanders were holding meetings and discussing strategies when a aide of Khara's stepped into the room. Rising from his chair at the table, Khara excused himself and walked over, taking a slip of paper from the aide and promptly dismissing him. After a minute of looking it he walked back over to the table. Clearing his throat, he adressed the allied commanders.

"Gentleman, according to our latest reports from the front lines in the Alliance, the Starblaydi forces have succeeded in sending the Clansmen reeling. It seems that they have already begun the pacification process in the northeastern, northern parts. I propose that we table any further discusssions until we are in Alliance territory. It's time wew gave our allies the help the deserve and need."

Khara looked across the table at the other commanders and waited for any of them to respond.

(OOC Note: Basically I'm going to go under the assumption that whoever wanted to join my little SDL force that's heading for the Lowland Clans has already done or will on the way. Provided that there are no objections, I was going to have us move forward with the next step.)

10th Army Battlefield HQ, English-Legal Border

General/1st Frank McKenzie, commander of what was left of the 10th Army Group was in conference with his fellow commander, General/3rd Gavin Gibbs from the 13/1st Army. The fact that the most junior commander in the 13th Army Group was here instead of the commander of the Army Group Major-General/3rd Aidan Brooks pretty much told the story. Most of the 13th Army Group was trapped by Starblaydi forces in a small pocket between Okerson and Plainsville.

They were still on the Legal side of the border which was a good sign, but the situation in front of them was not. The Starblaydi Army had blown apart the defensive perimeter of the that the ASA had established around the Grey Zone, and had barely managed to form a defensive line before getting hammered again by the Gilgamesh tanks. Despite their weakness in the cities, the things were the utter bane of any army in the field, especially one so acclimated to fighting in cities. But they were getting the weapons. Already a whole over-strength division of M-1A Longhamners had arrived in the Western Theater, fresh from the English factories. They needed to be put to good use.

"The Starblaydi Army has surrounded the cities, and they are pounding the portions of the 10/1/2nd and 10/1/3rd Urban Combat Infantry divisions, plus about four battalions from the 10/1/4th Armoured in Sagdineo. We've also got a majority of the entire 13th Army Group trapped in the Plainsville/Okerson corridor. Nadiaville is clean, and those elements of the 13th Army are supposed to form up with the Fusiliers that are coming up from the District. We need to get these guys out of the cities. Bazalonian troops are expected to reach the front lines in about five days, and by then there won't be much of the 13th Army Group left to save," said McKenzie.

"Well, the solution is pretty simple, an immediate counter-attack." Gibbs was known for his takilan spirit. McKenzie had always been the cautious one, but he saw Gibbs point. "We need to test there defences, and since they are focused so much on the siege of the cities, then we need to get them on the defensive. They don't have much in the way of protection from a flanking assault, and we can use portions of the interstates 3 and 4 as the main roads for our retreat back to the lines. The Longhamners will form the spearhead, breaking through at a narrow point on the south-west entrances to the city from Interstate 3," he pointed to the maps.

"Yes, but how do we know this can succeed? Sagdineo is easier to defend for the Starblaydis because we only can attack in about five different places, and only two can be used for major attacks on the city. The number of troops needed to break them out might be more than we can handle, and at this point I don't think we should risk it. "

"Point taken, Frank. We don't know this will succeed and it's a gamble of the highest order. But if we lose portions of an Army and an entire Army group after the beating we took in former Legalese there is no way on the face of this planet we will be able to take back the initiative until we hit about halfway into Alliance territory."

"Yeah, you're right. Before I endorse this, I want to hear some details"

"It does Frank. Alright, so this plan needs to succeed, and we are going to need a lot of artillery and those Air Force pukes to give us some heavy support. The Plainsville-Okerson corridor needs the heaviest assault, so I think that's where we need to concentrate our forces. Get the 10/2nd and 10/3rd Armies over to the Interstate access where we can move them into attack the Corridor. The Longhamners coming up from England will join you here, at the off-ramp to the Highway 12. It'll be the main root for our assault. Communications with the 13th Group are still sketchy, but once we break the siege we should reestablish communications as quickly as possible and then get them out of there."

"What about Sagdineo?"

"We need enough forces to keep them occupied and from reinforcing the Corridor. We also need to get the forces out much quicker. While the 13th will probably be able to fight it out, what's left of the 10/1st Army is going to be very tired. We might have to bloody stretcher them out. I'd day elements from the 15/1/1st and the 10/5th lead the attack into Sagdineo. When the Bazalonians and the Fusiliers get here, they can take the line while we get the survivors cycled out. With the Abattoirians entering the war, I don't know how much we will be able to get for the defence, but I think Jeremies and Giannopolis will be able to handle them with the 21st and the 3rd."

A hothead with a plan. This guy could be useful. McKenzie was on the phone and the attack would begin two days from now.

Interstate 4-15 Junction, Legal Republic

General Gavin Gibbs sat in the cupola of his C-6HC Heavy Command Crawler. The Interstate, normally incredibly busy, was devoid of civilian traffic. With the unearthly quiet and the snow falling all around them, it certainly did no favors for the morale of the men. But they knew there job, and they would do it well. The Longhamner division was about twenty minutes ahead of them, and recon units from the 10/2/4th Division had already scouted out the battles lines of the Starblaydi forces. With the picture here complete and the one in Sagdineo having been ready for teh last half-an-hour, the assault was ready to begin. "Colonel Watts, this is General Gibbs, Operation Breakfast is a go, begin air bombardment."

"Aye, sir. B-7S Kearny's ready for attack. Go order received, uploading realtime RSS-V feed now."

Gibbs watched as a new icon appeared on the AFAS.net command screen. He clicked on it and watch the air battle unfold from the recon drone about three miles away from the battle. The Highlanders had already cleared out the fighter air coverage with a series of diversionary hit and run, ambush, and air field attacks. The Kearny's approached on a vector about two-point-three-seven clicks away from the rear of the battle line, and began to launch their missiles and pre-sighted bombs. In the distance, thunder could be heard and bits of rock and snow could be seen flying into the air.

"Artillery Divisions, this is Gibbs. Open fire, PS coordinate sets alpha through gamma."

The artillery behind him boomed as they fired, moved forward about a hundred yards, and fired again. The rockets from fixed positions in the rear were fired, and timed to be a secondary barrage once the Longhamners hit.

"Colonel James, this is Gibbs, you are authorized to engage. Hit them hard man!"

"Yes, sir."

The first offensive battle for the ASA began.

Starblaydi lines, outside Okerson
"Where's that bloody air cover gone?" The leading General in charge of the central thrust into The Lowland Clans was not a happy man as shells and rockets began falling amongst his position, coming from the south-west.

"They're chasing airborne targets," his staff sergeant yelled back, as a great gout of flame was thrown up into the air not two-hundred metres away.

"Bloody flyboys!" The General cursed. "Can't see past the end of their own HUD."

Starblaydi lines, outside Sagdineo
Though the Starblaydi forces surrounding cities such as Okerson and Plainsville were in greater numbers, they were more exposed than the men and women assaulting the lakeside city of Sagdineo. Here Starblaydia enjoyed dominance on land, at sea and in the air. There were only two main routes for a counter-attacking army to approach from, and both of these were admirably covered in force.

Footballian troops were being brought in around the Bekk by train, building up a pressure on the defenders of the coastal city that would soon becoem too much to bare. Sagdineo's outskirts and taller buildings were decimated by artillery and air assault pounding away at them day and night. The troops that were valiantly defending the city simply had to be relieved, or at best gotten out of the city.

The Allied States Army attacked with the righteous fury of an army knowing their fight was a long-shot at best. As much as the aircraft dropped, or the artillery belched or the men fired, the besiegers of Sagdineo we re totally and utterly prepared for the counter-assault. As the ASA tried to break into the city they were caught in a series of ambushes and flanking manoeuvres. Men raced down hastily-blocked roads, caught like rats in a trap, and murdered as such when Gilgamesh tanks and Errant armoured vehicles closed the lids on their traps and brutally cut down the ASA men like rabid dogs.

The attack was blunted, halted and repulsed. Even within sight of friendly, determined defenders of the city, their relief and evacuation effort was decimated and as the Clansmen attempted to retreat in good order, they were harassed and chased every step of the way, until the retreat became a route.

The corridor that General Gibbs had attempted to make into Sagdineo had gone horribly wrong, with Starblaydia's local commanders on the ground taking the opportunity to push on, to push into Sagdineo and also further into The Lowland Clans itself, conquering mile after mile of fresh new snow-fallen land. Sagdineo was all but taken, and Starblaydi forces could now push into the northern territories of the Alliance of Nine States with ease.

Starblaydi lines, outside Okerson
"They've established their corridor, dammit!" The General, riding in the cramped confines of his Command Personnel Carrier, had enough of a picture on the tiny map in the rear compartment to know that the initiative here, in the centre of the entire front, was wavering back to The Lowland Clans. The supply corridor stratagem, destroyed so successfully to the far north, was here intact and strengthening by the minute. Starblaydi forces were only able to shoot at one thing at a time, and their enemies had provided them with many to shoot at, in all directions.

Here he needed the extra weight to fight off those new bloody Longhammer tanks. The Clansmen had obviously learned that in the open field, a Gil would waste one of those other crawler tanks like a a spider hit by a newspaper. It was in the cities where the crawlers came into their own, outmanoeuvring and pummelling the big heavy Gilgamesh. The tracked ASA vehicle was certainly a good match for the Gil, but Starblaydia's experiences in land warfare would surely prove their design to be the superior one. Either way, he had no way of punching a hole anywhere along the corridor without leaving gaping, exploitable holes in the siege of Okerson. He needed more troops to get the initiative back, and press on into the States and their precious oil fields.

Sky above Abattoirian Border

The naval battle in Lake Bekk was long gone. The defence of the Clans' southern border was the priority now. Airfleet Peregrine, led by the Feather, began preparing for the attack. Leading by example, the Hermes-class sub-carrier FNA Rington carefully descended its underbelly, and reversed until it became as an extension of the Feather's runway. The deck crew began to manoeuvre the Birds of Prey from the Feather to the Rington. When a flight had been transferred, the Rington closed its belly and flew back into formation. The FNA Kate's Bay moved to take its place.

FNA Rington - Hangar

Chief Petty Officer Sandil Sammugam helped his colleagues shoulder the hefty missile into position under the BOP's underwing hardpoint. The missile was fresh off the line at Jay Industries, fitted with one of those fancy plasma thrust thingies to propel it. All Sandil knew was that you handled them with care. This particular model was the PDMRAGM "Meathook," optimised for penetrating tank armour and killing everything inside. Gently he stroked it with his palm. There, that was the last plane prepared for launch. He hurried to an intercom terminal at the side of the hanger. "This is CPO Sammugam. Flight A are fueled and armed. Descend to engagement altitude." He closed the channel. Falcania would be tempered in the forge of battle.

Abattoirian Radar Station 36c - Abattoirian Border

It was not the grunt's day. He had recieved a dressing-down from his sergeant about his lax appearance on parade, and assigned menial duties. In this case, mopping the floors of the radar station. Sighing, he put his mop in the bucket and squeezed it out. There had thus far been no activity from The Lowland Clans or any of their allies in this area.

Suddenly there was a beep from the console.

Then another.

The grunt ran to the output screen. The other guy, whose job it was to look out for this kind of thing, had gone for a coffee. On the screen, blips were just coming from nowhere. The grunt frowned. What did this mean?

His colleague returned with two mugs of coffee. "What's the noise? Don't tell me we're picking stuff up?"

"I don't know what this means. There are dots everywhere!"

"Hmm." The colleague walked to a window, and drew the blinds open. "Probably a glitch or something."

"What's that, then?" The grunt pointed. The colleague squinted. He could just about make out a small oval object coming from the clouds.

"I dunno." He checked the readings. "It's on the screen, but if it's a plane it would be much nearer than the computer says it is."

"There's another one - and another. A fourth!" The grunt was beginning to panic. "What are they, aliens?"

"Don't be so paranoid," said the colleague, grabbing a pair of binoculars and pointing them towards the object. "It's probably just, just a-"

"A what?"

"It looks like... like a big blimp. Wait, what's it doing?"

The grunt seized the binoculars and looked. "Oh my-"

Not far from Abattoirian Radar Station 36c - Abattoirian Border

"This is Jester 1, reporting in." Flight Lieutenant Vincent Frank adjusted his heading slightly and pointed his Bird of Prey towards the Radar station. "Jester Flight, commence bombing run on target alpha-seven. That is, to clarify, the Radar station over there."

Jester Flight were a household name back home in Falcania. Colloquially known as the Jesters, they were the Falcon's Air Force's aerobatic squadron, being unique in that as well as their peacetime aerobatic display role they were also in fact a fully operational military unit, as they were about to demonstrate rather colourfully on a cluster of Abattoirian radar stations on the border.

"Make 'em laugh, Jesters." Frank smiled, as he dropped his payload of 250kg bombs onto the antenna.

KNV Carain, Somewhere in the Crystilakere Channel

The deck of the Khazaronian Expedtionary Force flagship was buzzing with activity as deck hands and officers scutteled about attending to various matters of course and communication with the rest of the fleet. Amid this commotion the door to the bridge opened, letting out a large creaking noise. A nearby officer noticed, and before he could fully step through, snapped to attention and shouted: "Admiral on deck!" Everyone stopped dead in their tracks as Khara stepped through door, taking a brief moment to survey the room before nodding. "As you were." he said as he walked towards where Admiral Voors was standing.

"What's the ETA on our arrival to Allied waters?" as he folded his hands behind his back, looking out through the window at the array of ships in the fleet.

"We're about three and a half hours from Allied territory. Although I must say, even once we get to their south-eastern coast, it's going to take quite awhile for us to even unload."

Khara looked at the admiral and then back out to sea. "We'll get there when we get there and fight when we are ready. No need to try and hurry ourselves along to quickly, that's when mistakes happen."

Admiral Voors nodded, a bit of apprehension in his face.

"Can we reach Alliance Naval Command yet?" asked Khara as he turned around and looked at the comms station.

The Admiral nodded. "The weather is fine, so we should be able to get a clear signal out to them. Shall we try contacting them?"

Khara nodded as he walked over to the station, the officer already pushing buttons and turning knobs. A minute later he pressed down a red transmit button, holding his earphones close to his head and giving the thumbs up to Khara.

"Alliance Naval Command, this is the KEF flagship KNV Carain, repeat, Alliance Naval Command, this is the KEF flagship KNV Carain. We request permission to enter your waters and coordinates for the nearest convient landing destination."

The officer let go of the button and the message was sent. Now all that remained was to wait for the reply. A palpable sense of tension seemed to eek its way across the deck, as most knew they where close to a battle the Khazaronian armed forces had not seen in many years.

"Stalled?" Viannor spat out the word right back in the face of her highest-ranked General. "How has the mightiest army in the region become stalled," again, she used the word like a curse, "in its inexorable march across Calania?"

Lord-Commander General Aerys Fyreskar was not a man to be cowed by words, opinions or insults, particularly when a woman was tossing them in his direction. He simply stuck out his chin, and repeated the foundations of his comments.

"Our armed forces are at the very gates of Graham City, we have conquered our way over almost half the total territories of The Alliance of Nine States," he had grown accustomed to using the States' own terms for what everyone else called 'The Lowland Clans' over the months. "Our supply lines are at their maximum, beyond even what our military theorists predicted, we have their oil fields under our control, their populace resists, but to no great effect. If their armies were at the city of Jhanna's door, we would fight with every last ounce of strength - it is no different with the Clansmen."

"Then sap their strength and destroy them!"

"My Lady," he replied, "it has taken almost all of our strength to get to this point. Our forces have required everything to get to where they are, to overcome the Alliance's technical superiority. Frankly I'm amazed we've done so well under the circumstance, we've performed spectacularly against one of the greatest military forces in the region."

"You sound like the war is over already, General." Viannor stared at him intently.

"If we don't take Graham City and subdue it, then all is lost. Falcanian, Khazaronian, even the thrice-accursed Lamonians will throw their weight at us. Battle-hardened we may be, a sledgehammer to crush all before us we may also be, but against such odds, none could stand in the open territory between their capital and our borders. We must subdue Graham City at all costs."

Viannor pondered this for the moment. Here was the turning point in her Empire's foray into glory, this would be the point at which Starblaydia would ascend to the rank of first among nations, or they would be crushed under the heel of half a dozen paltry states, toppled by those weaker than herself. That could not happen.

"Graham City must fall." Viannor said, calmly and coldly. "and it will be subjugated."

The Lamonians had not been slacking off all this time. Twenty Infantry divisions had been part of the SDL fleet led by the Khazaronians... all twenty divisions riding in Lamonian merchant ships, and Myrtannian ships that went over to the Free Republic with the fall of Myrtannia (OOC: Yes, I got his permission for that).

The Lamonians were ready to fight alongside Clannish and other allied units, and were ready to get back on solid ground after spending so much time aboard ship. The soldiers all thought that the merchant ships that they were on were nothing more than giant targets. They reasoned that on solid ground, you could at least dig a foxhole, shoot your weapon, or run for protection. On a merchant ship, there wasn't much you could do, other than pray.
