The Queendom of Sportgirls is a tiny island city-state in the region of Atlantian Oceania. It is approximately 30 km2 in area, with a population of 13,984 at the last census.

Government

Sportgirls is a parliamentary monarchy. Succession to the throne is strictly matrilineal, following the principles of primogeniture but applying them to women instead of men. Should the line ever fail, a new queen would be selected by and from the House of Nobility.

The Queens of Sportgirls have been Margareta, born 1875, crowned 1906, died 1934; Stefania, born 1897, crowned 1934, died 1966.; Kirsten, born 1916, crowned 1966, died 1984; Ingebjørg, born 1937, crowned 1984, died 2008; Kirsten II, born 1982, crowned 2008.

The Queen may create life peerages for up to 21 citizens at any given time, styling them at the pleasure of the Crown. These peers form the upper house of parliament, the House of Nobility.

The citizenry elect representatives to the lower house, the House of the People, using a proportional representation system. Fourteen members are elected each year to a seven-year term, for a total of 98 members. No person can ever serve more than one term in the House of the People.

Nationality and citizenship

Sportgirls nationality may be acquired in three ways:

From birth to a Sportgirls citizen.
For men only, by marriage to a citizen. Such nationality can be revoked should the marriage fail before seven years have elapsed; this is not automatic.
Both men and women foreign nationals may apply to the Queen through the Foreign Ministry for a grant of nationality. An average of 9-12 such grants are made in a typical year.

Citizenship is limited to women, more specifically to mothers. Any Sportgirls national who gives birth becomes a citizen from that moment. A mother who is granted nationality by the queen also becomes a citizen with the grant.

Citizens have certain privileges that nationals do not. Only citizens may vote or hold elective office. The peerage and certain commissioned posts also require citizenship, including military officers, police commanders, and all judges and barristers.

Sport

Sportgirls made its international sporting debut in World Cup 49. It was then noted for having a single national sports team of multi-dimensional athletes who represented the nation in all sports fielding an official national team. That experiment was once abandoned, but has been revived and built around six sports. Primary sports are association football, netball, and rugby sevens. Secondary sports are baseball, gateball, and volleyball.

Famous Sportgirls athletes include Olympic speedskating medalist Megan Sullivan and soccer star Caitlyn Ballantyne of Cafundeu's Ranca Toco.
