The UN is meant to mediate international matters, not interfere with the sovereignty of a nation. These past couple of resolutions, have done just that, with the exception of the international waters proposal. Basically, it just pisses me off that the people who play this game are that incompetent. Therefore, I will be withdrawing from the UN at this moment, in protest of the retardardation which it pulls my nation into.

You inform the United Nations that The Nation of Abattoir will no longer participate in its corrupt, hollow debates. From this moment forward, your nation is on its own.

Realizing what problems? This resolution is not just stupid, it isn't well presented at all. Also, young marriage is sometimes a cultural aspect, not just an act of necessity in rural areas. This, and not even the United States government manages marriages as it is a states right. I agree with Abattoir here, the UN has no place in marriage.

That is blatantly violating human rights; people should be able to choose when they want to marry, for one. No.

That is the part that troubles me the most. That's taking parental rights out of the equation. What if the parents of both 15 year olds believe their respective children to be responsible enough to marry and are willing to give consent? They're up sh!t's creek without a paddle.

However, there is a loophole:

CONSEQUENTLY, all persons engaging in such a marriage illegally, and are over the age of 18, will be charged with "Illegal Marriage to a Minor" and will be punished accordingly, at the discretion of the state.

If you choose to remain in the United Nations, that could be one of those laws that your government allows to die of neglect by lack of enforcement.

However, put me down as a staunch opponent of this law.
