Oh and on a side note, if anyone wants to put up a sign-up thread, feel free to.
Done!

Consider 95X in! Since we're the first ones in, maybe we'll be the last... nah, we'll probably be the first ones out, too.

But we might as well show up.

Druida make their long awaited return. Although who's been awaiting them, we don't know...

And who knows, a hosting bid might be in the offing at some point down the line...

Capitalizt SLANI and 자스연 (Jasīʼyūn), after finally sorting out some massive paperwork issues with the Union of Atlantian Oceanian Football Associations, enter their teams into the nineteenth Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football.

(OOC: Capitalizt SLANI and 자스연 (Jasīʼyūn) are two separate sports organizations, both located in the http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Unified_Capitalizt_States, that field separate teams in football, the Olympics, and other competitions.)

Will Aurendia participate in AOCAF 19?

<Shakes Magic 8-Ball>

Yes.

We'll give it a go...

Not that I know of.

This brings us up to either 20 or 21, if Unified Capitalizt States is allowed to send two teams.

Another thread said AOCAF will start after AOCC ends; I'm not following that like a laser or anything. The only confirmed hosting bid so far is Bettia; I think Druida isn't submitting one now but is considering it in the future (unless I'm mistaken).

Additionally, I'm just the guy that started the sign-up thread, I don't have any official capacity over it or anything.

The *censored* am I missing this one.

The Jacks is backs, baby.

Posted by: Delesa Mar 5 2007, 08:37 PM
Well get after some rather successful world cup qualify round... until the very end any ways... we are in!

Personally, I'd prefer to start it after the World Cup has finished, as suggested in the Brainstorm thread.

Ulzaxid confirms their spot.

Posted by: Bettia Mar 9 2007, 04:21 AM
Including the two Commerce Heights teams, I make it that brings us up to 24 now.

I was considering it this time, but a lack of time, plus a liking for Bettia's ideas, have put that idea on hold for now.

Posted by: Pacitalia Mar 17 2007, 07:07 PM
So, with 27, are we going to do three groups of nine, best sixteen overall get through to the knockouts, or what?

Noooo, World Cup 33 was bad enough tongue.gif
We could get one more team and use four groups of seven…

Posted by: 95X-Scottfire Mar 17 2007, 09:23 PM
If necessary, I guess an entertainment brigade of the Scottfire Army can be forced at gunpoint (unfortunately, how things usually happen there) to suit up and take the field.

OOC: As people have probably figured out, soccer/football isn't anything I know anything about, but I try anyway for the sake of participating. Too bad we have a region of currently 76 nations and only 26 nations (counting UCS only once) have signed up.

Posted by: Ulzaxid Mar 18 2007, 02:57 AM
The group system used in WC33 was brilliant. However I don't particularly like 3 groups of 9 or 9 groups of 3. I thin 4X7 is better. Also, good lord. 27 teams. I think the biggest AOCAF I've taken part in was 20.

Posted by: Atheistic Right Mar 18 2007, 03:51 AM
AR wishes to sign up.

Posted by: Bettia Mar 18 2007, 09:15 AM
Ah, 28 - that makes things more managable. Four groups of seven with the top four qualifying sounds good.

If there are no more hosting bids, I'll start making preparations in the next couple of days. There's just the small matter of the World Cup final to attend to first.... smile.gif

BTW Vilta / Star - when will the AO rankings be updated? Would this be after the world rankings are updated?

Posted by: Vilita Mar 18 2007, 05:49 PM
Yes, once the rankings are finalized I will post the new AO Rankings, just prod me on IRC or AOL if I forget and we're ready to go

Posted by: Druida Mar 19 2007, 09:27 AM
I don't know why, but I'm not allowed to post in the sporting events forum with my newly moved main nation, Schiavonia. Which is awkward, as I want to sign them up for AOCAF 19 instead of Druida. Any chance someone can resolve this problem?

Posted by: Vilita Mar 19 2007, 01:30 PM
try again smile.gif

Posted by: Bettia Mar 20 2007, 09:28 AM
Okay, I'm starting to get everything organised. Just one teensy question though:

Does everyone trust me enough to scorinate my own matches or does anyone want that 'honour'?

Two things to bear in mind:

1. On the two past occasions that Bettia has hosted AOCAF, I have scorinated my own matches (as it didn't seem to be an issue back then), and I was as fair as I could possibly be (I distinctly remember the Aroras being on the receiving end of a 4-0 thumping by Pacitalia).

2. Back then I wasn't ranked as high as I am now, so I was more likely to lose.

In the interests of fairness it would probably be better for someone to scorinate my matches. Any takers / opinions?

Score yourself through the group stage, but allow someone else to do the knockouts.

Okay - I'll ask the question again nearer the time.
