Kafra, Nedalia - The official draw for the Champions League III was completed this evening here in Kafra, bringing with the dawn of what many hope will be another round of intense competition. The AO CL is reknowned as the best regional club competition in the universe, with powerhouses from Starblaydia and Vilita attempting to take home the crown in this illustrious tournament.

Last year champions, Vilita's Yeaddin Owls, although they did not qualify through conventional means, will be at hand to defend their title. However, many will wonder about the absence of the Sarzonian sides, who did well last time round. Two of the 4 Semi-Finalists (Yeaddin Owls, Karakan Wolves) will be back for more, while the other two (Montepool Waves, Stanton Town) are nowhere to be seen.

Regardless, it will no less be just as intense as last time round, if not more so. A few newcomers from Hockey Canada, Oliverry, and Milchama will be ready to make some noise against veteran squads from Starblaydia, Vilita, Lamoni, and Krytenia, amongst others. Suprise quarter-finalist Rappor FC from Nedalia will be looking to go one step further this time round as well, although they wont be the only ones. Hypocria will be presenting the same sides as last time, and they will be looking to improve on their perfomances as well. Bettia, on the other hand, will be sending two newcomers to the tournament. Nojika will be hoping to do one better, while the new-old nation of Nyssa will be sending their new champions in hopes of doing their country proud. Ladies and gentlemen, here's hoping this will be a wild ride. Enjoy.

Nedalia Premier League teams look to light the AO on Fire

Kafra, Nedalia - Nedalia was abuzz this afternoon after the draws were announced for the third installment of the AO Champions League. The general sentiment is that the two Nedalian teams, Rappor FC and Dorpar AC (champions and runners-up respectively), stood a good chance of qualifying to the knockout stages of the tournament. Speaking to one of the leading broadcasters of Nedalian football, Mr. Vern Tap, we asked him what he thought of the chances:

"I think there is a very good chance both teams can make it through. Rappor is, I think, more talented than Dorpar, but thats not to say the runners-up wont be capable. Indeed, the fact that Tim James, the current Premier League Player of the Year, was sold to Krytenia will have its effect on the team, but I still think they have what it takes to make it through. As for Rappor, there isnt a more complete team in Nedalian football today. They didnt win two consecutive titles on luck, and dont forget, they were quarter-finalists in the last Champions League."

Dorpar AC, on paper, look to have it easier than their counterparts. The only proven team in Group B also happens to ne the NS Champions League reigning champions, Starblaydia's Iskara Daii, who are favorites to not only to qualify, but to do so without losing a single game. They will be looking to better their suprise quarter-final exit in the last CL, especially as it was to a Lamonian side. Along with Dorpar, they are the only two teams to represent proven leagues in Group B (ofcourse, the Liga Starblaydia is eons ahead of the Premier League in terms of recognizability), but the wild card of the group will be Milchama's Great Alexandria. Not much is known about the Milchamian league here in Nedalia, and it will be the first time a team from there is represented in the AO CL, but suprises are never too far off. The match, ofcourse, that every Nedalian will be anticipating is the one against FC Shaw of Nyssa. There is no need to explain why.

The other Nedalia Premier League team also happens to be the more accomplished of the two. The champions retained their title with relative ease in Year Three, solidifying their stance as the best team in Nedalia. They also didnt do bad at the last CL, gaining a quarter-finals berth before finally losing. While on paper, Group D looks more even overall than Group B, Rappor looked to be one of the favorites to qualify. The other favorite would have to be Vilitian side Irougil FC, who although were not involved in the last CL, come from possibly the most accomplished league in the region, something that will definitely play its part. Pylos Reavers of Hypocria will be also gunning for that qualification place, and given the track record of the Hypocrian League, they stand a very good chance of qualifying to the knockout stages, something that they didnt do last time around. Rounding out the group will be Roenech FC of Nojika, perhaps on paper the least favored team to go through. That being said, there isnt a definite favorite in this group, with all 4 teams holding firm the possibility of making to the next round.

Sukatra Tigers have been drawn against Vilitan outfit Jungle Strike, Oliverry's East Rubbermade, and Nephi Bears of Lamoni. Manager Ian Walkinshaw told The Enlightener "Well, we've really got our work cut out here, although qualification isn't beyond us. If we can perform well at home, we may stand a chance".

Nojika Readies Top Clubs

Rozier, Nojika - During the last A.O. Champions League, Nojika was represented by two of its greatest teams - Rozier City and Coral Cove FC. And once again, Rozier City will represent Nojika as the Nojikan Premiere League champions, and with hopes of making it at least as far as Coral Cove did previously. And as the runners-up in the Premiere League, Roenech F.C. will make a run for the A.O. Champions League champion title.

"Both teams are extremely talented, it's just a matter of bringing out that talent...just as Coral Cove did late in the competition last time 'round," said Rozier City head coach Randy Mulder. Both Nojikan teams are faced with talented groups - Rozier City to face off against the Wolves from Lamoni and Roenech to go up against Jhanna City of Starblaydia. "Tough teams aren't always the most talented. More often than not, there's just a few players who carry the rest of the team to the top, while [Nojika] on the other hand have two teams with many skilled players all with the desire to compete at the highest level," said Roenech F.C. captain Ty Baron.

Also today, Rozier City and Roenech FC coaches released starting line-ups and rosters --

Lamonian teams prepare for CL

Both the Karakan Wolves and the Nephi Bears have returned to the 3rd AO Champions League, and both are looking to improve upon their performances. Karakan is the early favorite of the two Lamonian teams, both for how far into the knockouts that they made it in the last CL, and for their surprise victory against Starblaydia's famed Iskara Daii in the quarters. However, don't forget about Nephi. They might not have fared as well as Karakan in the last CL, but time is known as the great equalizer. Either way, both teams are looking forward to the upcoming matches, hoping to be able to take the trophy home this time. Both teams are expected to use the 3-5-2 formation in the CL.

DORPAR AC:

Matchday One saw a Nedalian squad face off against a Nyssan side in what was one of the most hyped and intense matches on Nedalian soil. Permission had to be given from the President himself for the match to actually take place, finally getting the go-ahead. The match itself was anti-climatic, with the players being careful not to let things get out of hand with the potential of crowd trouble not ever far off at all. Thankfully, the match passed without incident, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Krytenian Ray Lausano, who came in from Casuals New Osteria for $3.6 million at the beginning of the season to replace outbound Tim James, had a good debut, scoring in the 14th minute to the delight of the Nedalian crowd. It was not to be a night for celebrations in Dorpar, however, as FC Shaw equalized with 7 minutes to go in the game, ending the match in a draw.

In the other Group B match, Iskara Daii ran out easy winners against Milchama's Great Alexandria, putting 4 past the GK. That leaves them on top, with Dorpar and FC Shaw tied for 2nd place.

RAPPOR FC:

The more illustrious of Nedalia's two representatives was also the more successful on Matchday One. In a tough matchup in Rappor, the team ran out 2-0 against Vilita's Irougil FC, a great victory considering the quality found in the Vilitan league. New signing Khalil Jamhurra was instrumental in the victory, scoring both goals for his new club.

The $7 million signing in the offseason started his Rappor career in grand fashion, and is already being touted as the best signing the Nedalian champions have ever made. Jamhurra himself announced he was ecstatic at the way his season has started, claiming that "if I can put 2 past a Vilitan side, then the sky is the limit." The Rappor faithful hope this is just the beginning.

In the other Group D match, Hypocria's Pylos Reaver started off their campaign in marvellous fashion, defeating Oliverry's Oliver City FC 3-0, catipulting them to 1st in the group. Rappor sits in 2nd, with the two losing sides on the night respectively sitting in 3rd and 4th.

Milchamian teams fare poorly against Staryblaydis on MD1

The two Milchamian participants in the AOCLIII did not fare so well on Matchday one losing both of their matches by a combined score of 6-1. The Desert Foxes could not get their offense started and despite some good play could not get past Jhanna City of Starblaydia losing 2-0. Great Alexandria also had a Starblaydi opponent, unfortunately enough for them it was Iskara Daii the current NS CL champions. Alexandria played well for patches and even scored the first goal but in the end were no match losing 4-1.

Desert Foxes game summary:
The Foxes came out determined to show that they were better than Chaialim and it showed in the early as some good one-twos between Clyde Misterson and Yaniv Alexander almost brought a goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately Alexander's shot hit off the cross bar. It was a theme that would be reapeated throughout the match. A little later Jhanna City got their first goal as Cherry Garcia scored on a pass from Contall Rumaoa. Down 1-0 the Foxes tried to rally but their best chance failed as Bobby Martin's shot beat the keeper but not the post as it went wide of the goal. The second half saw Jhanna City double their advantage in the 48th minute on a unlucky and controversial penalty on an iffy Tom Thade foul. No matter which side you were on Itechton Matranga's penalty was taken perfectly and not even Milchamian national side starting goalie Tuck Koolerc could stop it from going in. The rest of the half though was dominated by the Foxes but they could not beat either or the post and ended up losing 2-0 despite outshooting Jhanna City 12-6 and with shots on goal 8-3.
Desert Foxes 0 (You have to beat the keeper and the post)
Jhanna City 2 (Garcia 22, Matranga [pen] 48)

Great Alexandria game summary:
Great Alexandria came out on the field looking like the graceful champions they are- in Milchama- in the world though they are not and it showed. Although from the first whistle Great Alexandria seemed to get the better of the play and even scored first in the 4th minute as after a great solo run by Yonatan Mitayel, Spot Nielson found himself open in the box. He made the most of the oppurtunity finishing Mitayel's cross beautifully. His header put Great Alexandria up for 32 more minutes until Left-Back Leopoldo Lopez put in a corner kick after the Alexandrians could not keep up their herculean defending effort for the half. The first half ended 1-1. We will not report on the second half as we see nothing useful happening there.

Iskara Daii 4 (L Lopez 36, 82 Mussorgsky 52 Raphaelo 74)
Great Alexandria 1 (Nielson 4)

Nephi Times - SPORTS

The results are in from the first matches of the AO CL III. While both Lamonian teams lost their first matches, they both lost by only one goal.

Karakan: The Wolves faced Nojika's Rozier City squad today, and lost 2-1. Given the trouble that Nephi had with this same squad in the last CL, this result is not surprising, but it also does not make for a good start. Maybe this will remind those lads that they are actually in an international competition; which is not some little lark against last place Lemnos FC. If Karakan plans on repeating or improving upon the results of the last CL, they will need to play better than this of a certainty.

Nephi: Meanwhile, the Bears played against Vilita's Jungle Strike FC, and lost 1-0; with the single Vilitan goal scored using a header. That's right, the Vilitans scored after the ball hit the head of one of the Vilitan squad. Otherwise, the match was a fairly boring defensive showdown, with worries that Nephi's scoring capabilities might not be all that is desired this time around. Hopefully, we will be reversing ourselves after Nephi faces it's next opponent in the CL.

Tigers Roar Ahead

East Rubbermade 1 (Un Oliverrois 87)
Sukatra Tigers 3 (Bartrum 12 76, Evans 33)

For the second post in a row, this sports writer has felt compelled to use a 'roaring' analogy in the headline - but it was worth it as the Tigers made a flying start to their AOCL campaign, coming away from Oliverry with a stunning 3-1 win.

Sukatra started positively with Jenkins and Suhail causing a constant threat on the wings, and it was some exquisite interplay between Jenkins and Marcus Baxter that led to the first goal, before Jenkins sent in a looping high cross for Morgan Bartrum to head home.

The Tigers' dominance continued, and it came as no surprise when their advantage was doubled on the half-hour mark. After stealing the ball from an onrushing East Rubbermade striker, Craig Faruq hoofed a long ball forward which the nippy Darren Evans was able to latch on to. After nutmegging his man, Evans dinked the ball over the approaching keeper to send his team into the half-time break two goals to the good.

Sukatra continued to look comfortable in the second half, although they didn't create so much in the way of attacking play, seeming more content to defend their two-goal lead. Thirty minutes into the half, that became a three-goal lead courtesy of a neat free-kick routine which saw Baxter lay the ball off for Bartrum to crash the ball home from 25 yards.

East Rubbermade did grab a late consolation, but by then the three points were secure.

Honours Even in Eight-Goal Thriller

North Pole United 4 (Some Canuck 15, Another Canuck 45, And Another One 67 71)
Butetown Dragons 4 (Mattan 1 16, Ffagan 87, Dans 90+1)

Butetown Dragons were also on the road, travelling to the frozen wastes of HC to face a United side looking to make their home advantage count. Those plans were immediately scuppered as Nedalian international Mattan pounced on a loose backpass to put the away ahead after just 42 seconds.

However, it didn't take North Pole long to get themselves back into the game thanks to a low shot taken just inside the penalty area. The Dragons didn't let that affect them, and they put themselves back in front almost immediately when Mattan spotted the North Pole goalkeeper off his line and floated in a lob from all of 40 yards.

The rest of the first half was a real end-to-end affair with plenty of opportunities for both teams. Hard Dans was particularly busy and had to be on top form to keep his side in front. Unfortunately for him, he could do nothing about their injury-time equaliser, which took a wicked deflection off Zahir Hassan's shins sending Dans the wrong way.

The vast majority of the second period was dominated by the home team, and they looked to have won it with a two-goal salvo midway through the half. However, the hosts hadn't reckoned on the guts and attacking flair that saw Butetown's finest achieve their best ever league finish.

With three minutes to go, Husni Teague saw his shot turned around the post for a corner, and Eurys Ffagan rose up to head home for what seemed to be nothing more than a consolation. The Dragons kept pressing forward and they earned another corner deep into injury time. Desperate to gain a point, all eleven men poured into the area and it was goalkeeper Hard Dans who became Butetown's unlikely hero. The ball was drilled in close to the goal and was only partially cleared, finding Dans unmarked at the top of the area to thump the ball home through the crowd of players, sparking scenes of near-delerium amoungst players and fans alike.

Nojikans Undefeated After Day 1

Rozier, Nojika - After the first matchday of the A.O. Champions League, Nojika's top teams stand undefeated. Rozier City faced off against a tough Lamoni side that faired well in the last competition while Roenech F.C. forced a draw against Hypocria's Hypocrium City. "We started off slow, and even allowed an early goal - but we eventually got into the swing of things and played our game and played it well," said Rozier City captain Carlos Amoa, who scored a game winning goal late in the second half. Roenech F.C., even though they only recieved one point for forcing a draw, were more than happy to be competeing against the regions' top clubs for the first time and for remaining undeafeted after their first game. The final scores and goal scorers are as follows --

Rozier City: 2 - 1 :Karakan Wolves
Rozier City (Follett 72, Amoa 83)
Karakan Wolves (Towers 36)

Roenech F.C.: 1 - 1 Hypocrium City
Roenech F.C. (Baron 41)
Hypocrium City (12)

D'oh!
YEADDIN, VILITA - Caledon Simpson were defeated, rather unsurprisingly, in the opening game of their AO Champions League campaign, going down two-nil to regional champions Yeaddin. The Owls scored once in each half to bury the men in navy blue. Clark Eji'a, the half-Marligantian, was given an especially hard time.

All is not lost though, as Caledon are confident of points in their next two games, against Hockey Canadian side North Pole United and Butetown Dragons of Bettia.

YEADDIN OWLS (VIL) - 2
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 0

Mercia Beaucoup
IRKUTSK, HOCKEY CANADA - Much better news for Mercia Bromham, as Robin Spivey's goal landed the Southerners maximum points against Hockey Canadian side Irkutsk. Mercia seem to be by far the strongest side in this particular group, and manager David Bixler is upbeat about his team's chances.

AO Champions League III

It’s Champions League time again and just like last year Hypocria will be represented by the Hyper League’s “big two”.

Champions Hypocrium City have invested heavily in the summer and success both at home and abroad is expected by their fans. With veteran national team captain Paul Blake marshalling the defence and the nation’s leading international goal scorer Andrei Shirko leading the attack the prospects are good. Add to that mix the newly arrived Krytenian international Kevin Keda and Vilitan midfielder Thierry Columbo and coach Christian Dogbe has the strongest Hypocrium City squad in years to call upon. After reaching the second round last year, before being mauled by Sarzonia’s Woodstock Wild, the fans will be wanting to see their side go at least one stage further.

Hypocrium City - City of Hypocrium Stadium (62,000 capacity)

Coach – Christian Dogbe (Vilita)

Formation: 5-3-2

First Choice Eleven

GK – Alex Derevko

LWB – Ricky Poskas

LCB – Goran Baric

CB – Paul Blake (Captain)

RCB – Craig Goodison

RWB – Chris Golla

LCM – Thierry Columbo (Vilita)

CM – Kevin Keda (Krytenia)

RCM – Brian Snell

SC – Andrei Shirko

SC – James Eagles

It has been a relatively disappointing couple of years for the Pylos Reavers. They may have lifted the first Hyper League title but since then the Reavers have been playing second fiddle to their rivals from the capital. But last season’s second place finish earns them a second crack at the Champions League and they will be looking to do better this time around after failing to qualify from the group stages of the last competition. With Bettian hotshot Judson York in attack and Hypocria's undisputed number one Ricardo Kindelan in goal anything’s possible.

Pylos Reavers – Oceanside Stadium (50,000 capacity)

Coach – Alex Santoro

Formation: 4-5-1

First Choice Eleven

GK – Ricardo Kindelan (Captain)

LB – Maelog Mumtazi (Bettia/Hypocria)

CB – Victor Gredenko

CB – Karl Nalepka

RB – Kieran Drakes

AML – Stephen Pope

MLC – Brian Beck

MC – Nick Caraiani (Krytenia)

MRC – Augustin Borgetti

AMR – Theodore Petras

SC – Judson York (Bettia)

Decent Start for the Autocracy

They may have struggled last year but Pylos Reavers got off to the best possible start in the third edition of the Champions League with a 3 – 0 home win over Oliverry’s Oliver City FC. Bettian international Judson York scored twice in the first half and defender Nalepka headed in a third shortly after the interval to send the fans home happy in the knowledge that their team currently top Group D, ahead of Nedalia’s Rappor FC, who beat Irougil FC 2 – 0, on goal difference.

In a tightly fought contest in the capital champions Hypocrium City were held 1 – 1 by Roenech FC of Nojika. City went ahead after twelve minutes through Shirko but the visitors fought back and Baron equalised shortly before halftime. The result leaves both sides two points behind Starblaydia’s Jhanna City who ran at 2 – 0 winners over the Desert Foxes in Milchama.

Nephi Times - SPORTS

Karakan: Karakan got it's first CL III group points today with a convincing 4-1 victory over Hockey Canada's Irkutsk squad. The victory also moves Karakan to second place in Group C, just under Krytenia's Mercia Bromham, who has won both of their matches to this point. Karakan faces Mercia Bromham in the next match, which will be key for Karakan as they attempt to make it into the knockouts for the second time; still hoping to do better than last time, with it's surprise victory over the Iskara Daii.

Nephi: Another loss was meted out to the Bears in today's match. The only surprising thing about the loss was that it was to Oliverry's East Rubbermade FC squad, who are playing in the AOCL for the first time. Nephi keeps it's one goal loss CL III record by losing 2-1 in this match, and 1-0 in the match before that. Nephi is currently in last place in Group F, with not one group point to it's name.

Great Alexandria draw as the Desert Foxes get shutout again

Great Alexandria had a good day today as they drew Dorpar AC 2-2. The Desert Foxes on the other hand gave up a soft goal and could not come back and got shut out for the second game losing 1-0. Great Alexandria has a good chance to qualify right now only one point behind the second place FC Shaw who play Iskara Daii next match. Daii look like a cinch to qualify having already beaten the other two teams in the group and looking for the first round sweep with a win over Dorpar. The Desert Foxes are not out of it though. If they can score then a win in their next match against Hypocrium City then they would be only at least 2 points behind 2nd place. Now onto the abbreviated match reports:

Desert Foxes:
The first half was close as the Foxes almost scored thrice. The first chance went high as Misterson tried to catch the keeper sleeping but instead the ball went high and the score remained 0-0. The second oppurtunity was off a corner kick as an unmarked Kelly Mihm headed the ball wide. The third oppurtunity was on a free kick as Bobby Martin bent the ball around the wall but it was saved easily by the keeper. The half time score was 0-0. The goal came for Roenech FC in the 47th when <Eugene Hammons> beat a napping Foxes defense to put the ball past Koolerc and Roenech in the lead. The Foxes could not recover losing 1-0.
Roenech FC (Hammons 47)
Desert Foxes (will score next game)

Great Alexandria:
Oof I want to post this now but I need a match report and I don't want a match report so here are the scorers.

Great Alexandria (Timmons 37 Nielson 75)
Darpor AC (Lauger 24, 82)

OOC: sorry if I get names wrong.

Hypocrium City 0 - 0 Jhanna City

It was a clash of capitals on matchday 2 as Hypocrium City hosted Liga Starblaydia champions Jhanna City. And in the end it was the home fans who were the happy as they saw their side pick up a creditable point against a very talented Jhanna team. Veteran defender Paul Blake was named man of the match for his efforts and his tremendous blocking challenge as he threw himself in front of an Itechton Matranga shot was repeated endlessly on the sports shows that night.

“We went easy on them. They had girls in their side after all”, striker James Eagles told reporters.

Judging by the expression on Christian Dogbe’s face at the final whistle the coach didn’t share that light hearted sentiment. Perhaps it was because he had missed out on a chance to avenge his native Vilita’s defeat in Starblaydia in a World Cup qualifier that was eating at him? Or perhaps it was the fact that his side have now picked up just two points from two home games? With tournament debutants Desert Foxes up next he will certainly be looking for his team to record their first win.

The Imperials drop into third place in Group E after Roenech FC’s 1 – 0 win over Desert Foxes in Nojika. Roenech move into second, level with Jhanna City on 4 points.

Irougil FC 2 - 0 Pylos Reavers

Over in the Tropics Pylos Reavers suffered an, albeit expected, 2 – 0 reversal against Stellar Division side Irougil FC. But, despite the defeat, Reavers are only a point off the top spot in Group D after leaders Rappor FC were held to an entertaining 3 – 3 draw in Oliverry. Reavers face Rappor in their next match.

A Win & A Loss For Nojika

Rozier, Nojika - "We deserved the win," said Roenech FC coach Gary Nettles after the club earned 3 points with a 1 - 0 win over the Desert Foxes out of Milchama. "We know who the better teams are in our group," said Nettles, "and now it's just a matter of getting out on the field with Jhanna City and exploiting their weaknesses." Roenech's only goal came in the 47th minute from Eugene Hammons, who had taken five shots on goal in the first half - all of which sailed high over the crossbar or landed in Koolerc's arms. The goal came from some simple dribbling through the middle by Hammons who proceded to turn central defender Liam Henderson - leaving Hammons open to take a shot at goal an score. Next up for Roenech FC is Jhanna City - one of the regions top clubs from Starblaydia. "We're confident in our skills and endurance. We're confident we will be victorious over Jhanna City," said Roenech captain Ty Baron. Roenech FC currently stands in second in the group - tied with Starblaydia's Jhanna City in points.

Rozier City on the other hand, did not fair as well as their fellow Nojikans - falling 1 -2 against Mercia Bromham. The match did however prove to be very exciting for fans from both sides as all three of the goals came in the second half in just a 12 minute span. Spivey and Powell each scored a goal to give Mercia Bromham a 2 - 0 lead over the Nojikan champions. Three minutes after Powell's goal, Rozier City forward Shayne Follett elegantly headed the ball to put it past the opponents keeper - the ball came from a long cross from midfielder Tom Maynard. "Our problem this time around was that we weren't able to produce anything offensively for a long time, so we weren't able to take shots at the goal and test their keeper. Next time, this won't be a problem, "said Rozier's only goal scorer, captain Shayne Follett. Rozier City now sits in 3rd place, tied with the Karakan Wolves in points, whom are currently placed in 2nd. Mercia Bromham sits atop the table with 6 points after two games.

Wood You Believe It?
SIMPSON, NORTHERN LANDS - After the Owls came the Dragons. But Butetown's finest could not escape the wrath of the Caleys in a five-goal thriller at Walton Gardens.

The Bettians took the lead in the twelfth minute through Mattan, only for Caledon's own Nedalian talent, Tim James, to equalise. James scored a second before half-time, however with seventeen minutes to go, Hasni Teague scored thanks to a wicked deflection off poor Andy Snelders.

However, it was the man with quite possibly the longest name in the Champions League, Jean-Christophe Wood-Collins, who won the game for Simpson. He somehow managed to find the net in a goalmouth scramble just a few minutes from time. Next up for Simpson are Hockey Canada's finest, North Pole United, who will be hoping to knock Caledon off second spot.

CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 3 (James 23, 38, Wood-Collins 85)
BUTETOWN DRAGONS (BET) - 2 (Mattan 12, Teague 73)

No Joy For Nojikans
BROMHAM, NOVA MERCIA - Six out of six for Mercia as they blew apart Nojikan side Rozier City in a seven-minute spell in the second half, a victory that leaves them three points clear at the top of Group C.

Both sides were happy to play cautiously in the first half, with neither keeper particularly busy. The home side, however, came out invigorated in the second half, and six minutes in, Adrian Belmore struck a long-range effort, which caught his team-mate's heel and went in. Robin Spivey was given the goal by the match officials, despite Belmore's claims. Another six minutes saw the Krytenian side score their second - Hypocrian Michael Powell netting from a free kick.

A lapse in concentration saw Shayne Follett rise unmarked to pull one back for the visitors, but Rozier never really threatened after that. Mercia get a chance to really roar away at the top as they face Lamonian side Karakan Wolves.

MERCIA BROMHAM (KRY) - 2 (Spivey 51, Powell 57)
ROZIER CITY (NOJ) - 1 (Follett 62)

Mixed result as Foxes win but Alexandria lose

MD4 of the AOCL was a mixed bag for the Milchamian teams in the draw. The Desert Foxes got the first ever win for Milchamian soccer team in AO beating Hypocrium City 3-2 while Great Alexandria lost their match to FC Shaw 2-0. The Foxes who had had trouble finally put all their troubles to rest as Misterson scored twice and Bobby Martin added a third. Great Alexandria on the other hand had a terrible day looking tired from the get go before finally conceding in the 44th minute. The second half for the Alexandrians went from bad to worse as at times it looked lucky that they were not down 4 or 5-0. In the end a second goal for Shaw did come in the 77th minute.

The Desert Foxes on the other hand had a great day and finally got over their scoring drout in a big fashion scoring 3 goals in the first half. The first goal came in only the 3rd minute as Clyde Misterson snuck into the box and Liam Henderson put in the pass to score and make it 1-0 Foxes. That was just the beginning for Misterson who got out of his slump in a big way as he scored his second of the game in the 25th minute when Yaniv Alexander found him on a run which he perfectly executed and lobbed the ball over the keeper and into the goal for a 2-0 lead. Then he could have had a hat trick in the 31st but his header went off the post. His play was not to be in vein though as he got an assist on the third goal as he found Bobby Martin on through pass and Martin had a finishing touch of a striker as he scored to make it 3-0 Foxes. Hypocrium City would score twice in the second half but it would not be enogh as the Desert Foxes won 3-2.

Final Scores:
Desert Foxes 3 (Misterson 3, 25 Martin 32)
Hypocrium City 2 (too lazy to get names

FC Shaw 2 (look above)
Great Alexandria 0 (Don't Desert Foxes get shutout)

Nephi Times - SPORTS

KARAKAN: The winning streak of Krytenian squad Mercia Bromham has been snapped by Karakan, leading the MB squad to a 3-3 draw. This leaves Karakan in Group C's second place by virtue of goal difference, as Nojika's Rozier City also came to a draw today against Irkutsk from Hockey Canada. Should the matchups continue, Karakan would likely face either MB or Rozier City again. The Wolves would love to win a rematch against Nojika's Rozier City squad.

NEPHI: Continuing their losing ways from the last CL, the Nephi Bears lost to Bettia's Sukatra Tigers 2-0. There really is not much that we can say about Nephi's situation, other than that it is not desirable.

Posted by: Nedalia Nov 9 2005, 02:39 AM
OOC: Since we only have 24 teams in 6 groups, the 3rd place teams with the most points qualify. If there is a tie on points, then we look at goal difference. If there still is a tie, then goals scored.

AO Champions League III

Group D

Pylos Reavers 2 – 0 Rappor FC

It was a fine evening in Pylos as the Reavers took to the field against Group D leaders Rappor FC of Nedalia and the night was destined to get even better. The Hyper League runners up produced an excellent display to take all three points from the reigning champions of Nedalia. It was Krytenian international Nick Caraiani, full of confidence after his recent goal for his country, who was at the heart of the Reavers performance. He netted a fine goal in the first half after being set up by York and teed up Beck for the second goal shortly after the interval.

The win takes the Hyper League side to the top of Group D at the halfway stage and Alex Santoro’s side are now well placed for an assault on the next round.

Group E

Desert Foxes 3 – 2 Hypocrium City

Hyper League champions Hypocrium City may once again be sweeping all before them in the domestic league but the Champions League is proving an altogether tricky task. Fans of the Imperials were expecting a win against tournament new boys the Desert Foxes but a first half horror show in Milchama in which City went 3 – 0 down ruled that out. Total embarrassment was spared by a Kevin Keda double, clearly not wanting to be outdone by his compatriot Caraiani, in the second half.

The result leaves Hypocrium City languishing at the foot of Group E, 5 points behind leaders Jhanna City but just 2 behind second placed Roenech FC of Nojika.

United Pole-Axed
SIMPSON, NORTHERN LANDS - Caledon are looking good in second place in Group A after a convincing victory over the Hockey Canadian lightweights North Pole United in a one-sided encounter.

Caledon hit the cruise control early on, as Tim James opened the scoring on seven minutes with a scorching volley which left the United keeper stranded. Cameron Stevenson headed the side two-nil ahead from a corner on the half-hour, and the Caleys looked invincible.

The second half petered out somewhat, with substitute Alan Huw's strike the only meaningful contribution, but the result has sent the side's confidence soaring as they entertain the Yeaddin Owls on Matchday Four.

BROMHAM, NOVA MERCIA - Disappointment for the Mercians as they were held three-all at home by a resurgent Wolves side. A Robin Spivey brace, coupled with a goal for Druidan überstriker Adrian Belmore, were cancelled out by goals from Towers, Boyd and Nixon.

Mercia will be tooking for better luck in their return fixture against Irkutsk of Hockey Canada, where three points will all but assure qualification.

MERCIA BROMHAM (KRY) - 3 (Spivey 11, 61, Belmore 72)
KARAKAN WOLVES (LAM) - 3 (Towers 23, Boyd 67, Nixon 80)

Karakan: Maintaining second place in Group C, the Wolves got into a 2-2 draw with Nojika's Rozier City today. We suspect that Karakan will be able to get into the knockouts for the second time in a row if they keep this pace up, and hopefully do better this time than last time. Karakan faces Hockey Canada's Irkutsk squad next, and this will help to determine if Karakan can do it again.

Nephi: Never ceasing to surprise people, the Nephi Bears managed to defeat Vilita's Jungle Strike FC today, 3-2. The winning goal came from a fluke headbutt of a kick from Jungle Strike FC's own goalkeeper. The Nephite victory assures that Bettia's Sukatra Tigers remain in first place in Group F; at least until the next match.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
SIMPSON, NORTHERN LANDS - You are reading this correctly. The club champions of Atlantian Oceania came to Walton Gardens, and left with absolutely no points. It was, ironically, a half-Marligantian, Clark Eji'a, who scored the only goal of the game. His beautiful strike halfway through the second half was enough to secure three points for the Caleys, and tie them on points with the Owls, second only on goals scored.
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 1 (Eji'a 67)
YEADDIN OWLS (VIL) - 0

Tough Times Ahead
BROMHAM, NOVA MERCIA - A two-one defeat to bottom side Irkutsk of Hockey Canada leaves qualification for the second round still in the balance. The Mercians will have to defeat Rozier City to assure qualification, but it's exciting times ahead in Group C.

Milchamians Beat Starblaydis

The Milchamian exacted some revenge today as they beat the two Starblaydi sides that they lost to in MD1. The two wins catapulted Desert Foxes to second place while it left Great Alexandria still in last place but only one point behind second place. Qualification is looking good for both of the squads who are now looking to gain confidence before playing in the NSFA Cup and the NSCL. Now onto the match report:

Great Alexandria: It looked to be another huge defeat for the Alexandrians as they played current NSCL holders Iskara Daii eventhough they were at home. The Alexandrians were not going down easily as like the first game they struck first as Spot Nielson showed some great skill and dribbled past Philips and Lopez before sticking the ball in the corner of the game to make it 1-0 Great Alexandria. After the goal though, the Alexandrians were put on the defensive as Iskara Daii took some pressure on them as Mbidzo and Raphaelo played some good 1-2 ball. This play could have led to multiple goals but the play of the Alexandrian defenders particularly Yoni Pieleon saved multiple goals. In the second half the Alexandrians actually extended their lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute when Spot Nielson passed the ball right to Claus Floren who scored brilliantly from a header. The Starblaydians did manage to pull one back in the 79th minute when Frederic La Salle scored on a free kick right outside the Alexandrian box.
Final Score:
Great Alexandria 2 (Nielson 10, Floren 50)
Iskara Daii 1 (La Salle 79)

Desert Foxes:The Foxes were looking to get some momentum after thier victory over Hypocrium City in their last match. This game though they did not start out so well as Misterson and Jonathan Corey had some miscommunication at the front which led to some miscommunication at the back which led to first goal of the match as Itechton Matranga came right thru the defense almost unchallenged before scoring the first goal of the match to make it 1-0 Jhanna City. On the road and in trouble the Foxes grouped together and played their one great strategy get the ball Misterson and let him do whatever. The strategy worked as Misterson ran wild and found Jonathan Corey for the tying strike 24 minutes in. His shot in the 36th minute led to corner kick which led to another goal this time by Mack Berghoff. The Foxes went to the break leading 2-1. The second half was all Desert Foxes as they began to control the tempo and silence the home crowd. Doni Kunalin showed why he was picked to be a Milchamian international as he made good pass after good pass and smart decision after smart decision. His best pass of the day though was a thru pass that springed Clyde Misterson thru the City defense and for a goal in the 77th minute to the Foxes the W.
Final Score:
Jhanna City 1 (Matranga 8)
Desert Foxes 3 (Corey 24, Berghoff 36, Misterson 77)

AO Champions League III

Group D

Oliver City FC 0 - 2 Pylos Reavers

Their Hyper League title challenge may have come off the rails but the Reavers are looking good in the Champions League after Alex Santoro’s side recorded their third win in four games. Midfielder Brian Beck opened the scoring on 50 minutes after what had been a close first half. Just 8 minutes later it was two when the ever dangerous Judson York raced away from the defence and slotted coolly past the keeper to seal the points.

Reavers are now on 9 points and still top the Group D table, two ahead of Vilita’s Irougil FC who recorded a 2 - 1 home win over Nedalian champions Rappor FC.

Group E

Roenech FC 2 - 2 Hypocrium City

Hyper League champions Hypocrium City are still looking for their first win in Group E after another draw, their third of the campaign. Kevin Keda’s late show had failed to save the Imperials in Milchama in the last match but his late strike did salvage a point in Nojika. It was the second time in the game that City had come from a goal down, Eagles having cancelled out the Nojikan opener in the first half.

Hypocrium City remain bottom of the Group on 3 points but the Imperials are just a win away from second place. In the other match Desert Foxes of Milchama stunned fans of Starblaydia’s Jhanna City with their 3 - 1 in the Starblaydi capital. Jhanna stay top but are now just a point in front of the Foxes.

KARAKAN: The wolves grabbed another three points today with a 1-0 victory over Hockey Canada's Irkutsk squad. With Mercia Bromham's loss to Nojika's Rozier city, this puts Karakan on top of Group C via goal difference. Karakan faces Mercia Bromham next, in a match to determine knockout placement. Expect a fiery and powerful show from both sides in this one.

Nephi: Nephi shocked everyone by winning 2-1 against Oliverry's E. Rubbermade FC today, placing Nephi in third place in Group F. Nephi faces Bettia's Sukatra Tigers next, and it should be interesting to see if Nephi has the heart and determination to retain the third spot in this group.

A win and a loss

The Desert Foxes miserable start to the campaign has been almost completely undone as their last 3 matches look like this 2-1-0. This puts them at 7 points and on top of Group E on goal difference over Jhanna City. Despite this recent success they are still in a precarious position as both 3rd place Hypocrium City and 4th place Roenech FC have 6 points. A win in their match will clinch it for them. Meanwhile Great Alexandria have been eliminated as they lost on a 90th minute goal to Dorpar AC. This put them 4 points behind second place with one match left to play.

Great Alexandria: In one of the most boring games in Great Alexandria history the game went thru a 0-0 stalemate with much of the play being in the midfield. Both teams struggled for control of the midfield and the battle never ceased as it just went from one side to the other. There was only one real victory in the battle and that was by Dorpar AC in the 89th minute when X got the ball and beat Harry Merriman to the ball and passed it perfectly to Y who took a tough shot that went off the crossbar and right into the path of the oncoming Q who scored the only goal of the game.
Final Score:
Dorpar AC: 1 (Q 90)
Great Alexandria (eliminated w/o scoring sucks)

Desert Foxes: The Foxes day starte dout well as Clyde Misterson got into the flow early getting the ball in the 5th minute and then passing it off to Yaniv Alexander who crossed the ball right into the path of the dashing Eyal Keller who got a beautiful header goal to put the Foxes on top 1-0. They quickly made it 2 as Keller was again a part this time passing off to Martin who brought the ball forward before lobbing the ball over the defense and right into the path of Clyde Misterson who scored again to make it 2-0 Desert Foxes. That was the lead at halftime but it was quickly cut into as in the 48th minute Roenech pulled one back when Harrison Wilburn found Eugene Hammons on a corner kick to halve the lead and make it 2-1 Foxes. Then after 20 minutes of silence Roenech started to attack again when Dean Navarro tried to find Ty Baron but failed. He would try again 4 minutes later and this time was successful but goalie Tuck Koolerc stuffed Baron and forced a corner. Willburn took the corner and Koolerc punched the ball out but unfortunately it went right to the foot of Kaiji Delmar and he put it over Koolerc and the defenders in the net to tie the game at 2. Final Score:
Roenech FC 2 (Hammons 48, Delmar 79)
Desert Foxes 2 (Keller 5, Misterson 12)

Simpson Simply Super
BUTETOWN, BETTIA - After the stunning win against the Owls, this away match could have been in danger of becoming a wash-out. But there was no signs of hangover, as the Caleys roared into the second round, three-one. Daniel Mucorache put the visitors in front, before Wood-Collins and Tim James added a goal each. Mattan's strike for the Dragons was scant consolation, and as the final whistle blew, the celebrations began in Simpson.
BUTETOWN DRAGONS (BET) - 1 (Mattan 81)
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 3 (Mucorache 21, Wood-Collins 40, James 86)

One More Point. Please?
ROZIER, NOJIKA - The wheels have seemed to fall off Mercia's wagon of late, but thanks to the fact that the best four third-placed teams qualify, a point is enough to see them through.
Rozier dominated the game after Belmore's quick strike, and the three points were only fair - and leave the group on a knife-edge to boot.
ROZIER CITY (NOJ) - 2 (Trickett 31, Follett 66)
MERCIA BROMHAM (KRY) - 1 (Belmore 3)

AO Champions League III

Group D

Pylos Reavers 2 - 1 Irougil FC

The national side may have failed in the quest for World Cup qualification but Hypocria’s club sides are fairing rather nicely in the AO Champions League. Fans of Pylos Reavers are particularly happy after seeing their team record it’s fourth win in five Champions League games. The 4-5-1 system used by Reavers coach Alex Santoro has been found wanting in the Hyper League this season but against regional opposition it’s been very effective.

The Stellar Division outfit took the lead at the Oceanside but two goals in the second half from Bettian hotshot Judson York turned the match on its head and guaranteed Reavers a place in the knock out round.

The win takes Reavers on to 12 points and guarantees them top spot in Group D, a far cry from the last tournament when the side from Pylos finished bottom of their group with just 2 points. In the other game Nedalian champions Rappor beat Oliver City FC 3 - 1 in Nedalia. Both Rappor and Irougil now have 7 points and both can still qualify with the right results, one as group runner up and the other as one of the best third placed side. Oliver City are out of the reckoning.

Group E

Jhanna City 1 - 3 Hypocrium City

The Hyper League champions had been struggling in Group E. Three draws in four games had seen the Imperials drop off the pace. But an excellent win in the Starblaydi capital has dragged Christian Dogbe’s side back into contention.

Vilitan midfielder Thierry Colombo stunned the home fans into silence with a smartly taken opening goal but Purple Peril pinup Cherry Garcia equalised before the break. Left back Ricky Poskas curled a freekick beyond the reach of Thaddeus Gonzalez and into the net. With the minutes ticking away Keda set up Shirko to seal a crucial 3 points.

In the other game Milchama’s Desert Foxes were held 2 - 2 at home by Roenech FC of Nojika. Group E is by far the tightest group in the tournament with Desert Foxes and Jhanna on 7 points and Roenech level with the Imperials on 6 points. A point in the last match at home to the Desert Foxes could be enough but a win would certainly see Hypocria’s biggest club into the second round.

KARAKAN: Karakan has dropped into second place in Group C after concluding a 3-3 draw with Krytenian side Mercia Bromham. Rozier City handily won their match against Irkutsk, which left Karakan two points short of the first spot. Therefore, Karakan's next match will be against the same Bettian Sukatra Tigers side that eliminated Nephi today. We suspect that Karakan will have better luck against Sukatra than Nephi had. Still and all, this should be a good match.

NEPHI: Nephi was eliminated in today's match against the Sukatra Tigers. A win would have seen Nephi into the knockouts, but this was not to be. Better luck next CL, guys.

Milchamian Teams Advance

Both Great Alexandria and Desert Foxes fans had something to celebrate today as their teams advanced to the second round of the AOCL. The Foxes did it in a defensive struggle as they tied Hypocrium 0-0 to finish in second place. While Great Alexandria did it in style as 2 goals from Spot Nielson led them to a 3-1 victory over FC Shaw as they advanced as one of the top point getting 3rd place teams.

Desert Foxes: Their match is not worth reporting because who cares what happened in a nil-nil draw if your not from Rejistania. So that means its time for some hard core analysis about their match against Rozier City.
Desert Foxes v. Rozier City: Another Nojikan side for the Foxes as they faced Premier League runner-up Roenech FC twice in their group with one draw and one loss. Rozier City though are better and with the Foxes again having some trouble scoring this should be a tough matchup. The Foxes might advance but it will be a hard fought two games.

Great Alexandria: The title holders did make it to the next round just to not be outdone by the Foxes as they were during the Milchama Cup (Octafinalists). The game they did it in will probably go down in Alexandrian history as early the game did not go there way and FC Shaw got some good attacks in. The most brilliant being in the 18th minute when after some fancy footwork X found Y wide open in the box but Y's header as marvelously stopped by Mario Paquili to keep the score level at zero. Shaw would strike first though as only 10 minutes later Y made a great move on Pieleon that sent him unmarked into the box and this time his shot did not miss as the Shaw took a 1-0 lead. By halftime though the lead would be gone when a goal kick by Paquili found Billy Timmons in the middle and Timmons saw Spot Nielson on a run. Timmons hit Nielson perfectly onside and past the defense. Nielson then showed his great finishing to tie the game at one. That was the halftime score. The second half brought joy for the Alexandrians as only 2 minutes into the half Yonatan Mitayel was fouled right outside the box. Quentin Myler took the ensuing free kick with perfection to give the Alexandrians a lead they would never relinquish. After the goal the Alexandrians continued to dominate the play as Mitayel and Nielson started to take the game too the Nyssans. Soon Spot Nielson showed why he is considered the next Milchama soccer star as he skated past two Shaw defenders before unloading a cannon shot in the right corner of the net to give Great Alexandria the game clinching 3rd goal.
Final Score:
FC Shaw 1 (Y 28)
Great Alexandria 3 (Nielson 40, 78 Myler 47)
With the win Great Alexandria play a Hypocrian side Pylos Reavers. Reavers made it to the quarter finals last time and should be no easy for the Alexandrians to overcome. If they do beat Pylos Reavers look for a long run from the Alexandrians. Although this reporter expects them to lose in the second round.

Pole-Axed, but Pole Still Axed
VANCOUVER, HOCKEY CANADA - It was a game that, in the end, meant nothing. A draw in the Dragons-Owls match made this one academic, and though United scored the only goal (and a peach at that!), they leave the competition.
For Simpson, though, it's onwards and upwards after their second-placed group finish. Next up is the second round, and two legs of knockout football against more Vilitan opposition, this time in the form of Irougil FC
NORTH POLE UNITED (HCN) - 1 (Edmonton 37)
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 0

Owls Of Anticipation
KARAKAN, LAMONI - Three apiece means the second round for Mercia, alas that is where the good news stops. The Woodsmen have been given an almigty tough draw - they face a side that's already visited Krytenia this season; the Yeaddin Owls. The reigning regional champions will be looking to kill the tie in the first leg in Yeaddin before finishing the job on the road. And Mercia? They'll be looking for a little more pluck.
KARAKAN WOLVES (LAM) - 3 (Nixon 33, Towers 51,77)

AO Champions League III

Group D

Rappor FC 1 - 2 Pylos Reavers

Aside from a slight blip in Vilita the Reavers have been in fine form in the Champions League. Alex Santoro’s side recorded their fifth win in six games to win Group D by a rather healthy 5 points. Theo Petras put the visitors in front in Rappor but the reigning champions of Nedalia hit back with an equaliser just two minutes into the second half. It was left to Judson York to once again steal the show, and the points with a trademark run and shot.

In the other game Irougil heaped more torment on bottom side Oliver City FC with a comprehensive 4 - 0 home win to secure second place. Reavers and Irougil go though as group winners and runners-up respectively and Rappor sneak in as one of the better placed third ranked sides.

Group E

Hypocrium City 0 - 0 Desert Foxes

The Hypocrian champion’s Group E clash with the Desert Foxes was delayed for almost an hour with traffic and crowd congestion around the City of Hypocrium stadium was given as the reason why. Whatever the truth the delay enabled both teams to get reports from not only the other group game in Nojika but from the other groups too. Which possibly goes some why to explain the outcome of the match as, safe in the knowledge that a point would be enough, the sides played out a dull and lifeless bore draw, City‘s fourth draw in six outings.

Dull and lifeless maybe but it was enough for the Imperials who advance as one of the best third placed sides. Their opponents from Milchama also advance as runners up to the Starblaydis of Jhanna City, 2 - 0 winners over Roenech FC on the final day.

Second Round Preview

Milchama provide the second round opposition for Pylos Reavers. The Reavers have home advantage in the first leg against Great Alexandria who finished third in Group B. Although whoever told the Alexandria Times that the Reavers were quarter finalists in the last tournament was lying through their teeth. The side from Pylos couldn’t manage a single win in the last edition of the competition and finished bottom of their group. The second round is the furthest any Hypocrian side has reached.

Hypocrium City are back in the second round but will have an uphill task ahead of them if they want to advance any further. Imperials Vilitan coach Christian Dogbe will face a tough homecoming as his side travel to Group F winners and reigning Stellar Division champions Jungle Strike FC.

KARAKAN: Karakan seems to be doing well in the first leg of the first round of the AO CL III knockouts; routing the Sukatra Tigers 3-1. If Karakan can pull off another win against Sukatra, they will advance to the next knockout round with no trouble at all. We're not sure who exactly that Karakan would face in the next round, but we expect that it will be a challenge. Still, seeing as how Karakan defeated Starblaydia's Iskara Daii the last time around, anything can happen. The Wolves will just have to wait and see.

Hypocrium Hefticaly

The on fire Strike set ablaze once again in their first leg against Hypocrium City. The hyppo laden club were no match for their Vilitan counterparts, netting their only goal of the match on a freak goal half an hour in where a low flying bird was struck by the errant shot of a Hypocrium midfielder, redirecting the ball catastrophically just under the cross bar. This goal cut the deficit to 2-1, however Strike would just keep pounding through for the final 4-1 scoreline.

Initial reports are that the Bird has sufferred two broken wings and a severely bruised ego, though he'll certainly have a story to tell his grandkid birds.

One In, One Out

Rozier, Nojika - Both competing Nojikan sides were met with feirce competition and still proved they too were tough teams to beat. For Nojika's Premiere League champions, Rozier City, they ended the group stage with a 3 - 0 win over Irkutsk to finish first in their group with 11 points. Rozier City, during the group stage matches finished with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, and were able to produce 12 goals while allowing 8.

However, Premiere League runners up, Roenech FC, were not quite as able to produce the wins to move on to the second round. Finishing the final matchday of the group stage with a 0 - 2 loss against Jhanna City, Roenech finished the group stage with 6 points, just 4 points behind Jhanna City who finished first with 10 points. Roenech FC finished their Champion's League season with 1 win, 3 draws and 2 losses and forced just 7 goals and allowed 9 goals.

And after the first match day of the second round, Nojikan fans around the country are sure that they have the team that will be deemed, the team to beat. Rozier City came out on top over the Desert Foxes from Milchama with a 4 - 2 victory and a chance to advance even further into the competition...

Walton On Sunshine
SIMPSON, OUVERDIA - They came, they saw, they went home with their tails between their legs. Simpson dominated this match against Vilitan side Irougil, with Nedalian saviour Tim James smashing home a brace, and young Zack Starkov netting from a corner. One of the few plus points the Vilitans will take from this match is the fact that they did grab an away goal. But you feel Caledon have one foot in the quarter-finals.
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 3 (James 23, 64, Starkov 80)
IROUGIL FC (VIL) - 1

Owls Of Frustration II
YEADDIN, VILITA - Once again, Nwoko's Bar was helping Krytenian fans drown their sorrows. Admittedly, it was quite a few less due to MISA's support of the Druidan national side, but the consolatin flowed freely. Mercia's capitulation at the hands of the Owls sees them almost certainly eliminated, barring a resurrection of Gilmeecian proportions in the second leg.

KARAKAN: With a 0-0 draw with the Sukatra Tigers of Bettia, Karakan easily moves on to the Quarter Finals. Who will they face next, you might ask? At the moment, it appears that Karakan will face Starblaydia's Iskara Daii again. Seeing as how the Wolves defeated the Daii in the last CL, we expect that the Starblaydis will be pulling out all of the stops this time. As the Iskara Daii is the best (or, most recognizable) Starblaydi squad, this rematch will be seen as a potential AOCAF preview. Certainly, it looks like the fans will be even more hostile than the players will be.

Milchamians crash out embarisingly

With almost identical in both first and second legs the two Milchama have crashed out in the second round of the AOCL. Great Alexandria could not even manage to find the net against Hypocrian side Pylos Reavers losing on aggregate 4-0 while the Desert Foxes defense kept on giving up score as they lost on aggregate 8-4. The only thing we can say now is may it help them in the NSCL which is much bigger and harder.

Rozier City - Off to the Quarters
And to face Vilita's Yeaddin Owls

Rozier City came out on top of the Desert Foxes twice in the second round, each time winning 4 - 2. This allows the Nojikan club to advance to the Quarter finals where they will face the Yeaddin Owls from Vilita.

"This competition is something we want to win. We're going to fight as hard and as long as is needed until it's all over," said forward captain Shayne Follett, "And hopefully, with a little luck and skill, we will be the victors of the whole damned thing."

Confidence in the young lads is running high and they hope to be able to produce a score line that nobody is expecting out of them against a tought opponent.

The final score of the Desert Foxes vs Rozier City match;

Desert Foxes 2 - 4 Rozier City
(Corey 36, Martin 73) - (Trickett 17, Correa 51, Follett 68, 81)

Reavers Through as City Fall

Pylos Reavers v Great Alexandria

Reavers fans must be wondering where this form is coming from after watching some pretty average displays in the league this season. But in the Champions League Alex Santoro’s side are on fire, winning seven of their eight games to date. Now the side from Pylos have come further than any Hypocrian team before them as they eased past Milchama’s Great Alexandria and into the quarter finals.

Goals from experienced winger Theo Petras and Krytenian international Nick Caraiani in Pylos gave the Reavers a 2 - 0 advantage going into the away league. In Milchama Petras found the net again to add to an earlier goal from Judson York to secure a 4 - 0 aggregate win.

Pylos Reavers now face Krytnian opposition in the form of Caledon Simpson, who overcame Vilita’s Irougil FC, for a place in the final four.

Hypocrium City v Jungle Strike FC

They may be the nation’s biggest club but Hypocrium City have failed to progress past the second round stage again. The writing was really on the wall after the 4 - 1 hammering in the Tropics in the first league where the Imperials goal came from a bizarre incident in which a wayward effort from Snell actually deflected in off a passing bird.

The first leg result meant that the Imperials needed a 3 - 0 home win to progress. For a time it looked like they might do it when Shirko opened the scoring in the first half and Keda made it two in the second. But as the home side pushed forward they were caught with a sucker punch, a Vilitan goal that ended their involvement in the tournament.

It's Goodnight From Them...
IROUGIL, VILITA - Pride restored for Irougil, but the tie to Simpson. The Vilitan side just couldn't get the clincher they needed to advance on away goals, and the Krytenian Season Five champions squeaked through. Next up for Caledon are the Pylos Reavers, and a return to home shores for Nick Caraiani. The first leg is in Hypocria later this month.
IROUGIL FC (VIL) - 1 (2)
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 0 (3)

...And It's Goodnight From Us
BROMHAM, CAPITALIA - Six goals, end-to-end football, and amost godmodly hat-trick from Adrian Belmore...why couldn't this have been the first leg? As it is, the Mercians bow out with at least some pride intact. The Owls, meanwhile, are off to face another side from Bromham's group - Nojika's Rozier City.
MERCIA BROMHAM (KRY) - 3 (3) (Belmore 11, 61, 84)
YEADDIN OWLS (VIL) - 3 (6)

The Nedalia Premier League Year Three champions found the exit door after being guided there by Starblaydia’s Iskara Daii in the 2nd Round. Despite being Nedalia’s most successful team in the last couple of years, Rappor FC has not been able to show the same tenacity in the third installment of the AOCAF Champions League, barely getting by the group stages before falling to Iskara Daii.

However, Dorpar AC continues to go from strength to strength, defeating Jhanna City of Starblaydia over the course of 2 legs in the 2nd round. Last CL, it was Rappor FC who made the quarter-finals; this time, Nedalia’s representative in the final eight will be the runners-up of the Year Three.

With the 1st Leg of the Quarter-Finals over, Dorpar will find themselves with a mountain to climb at home, having lost to Vilitan side Jungle Strike FC 2-0 away from home. Hopefully, they will be able to pull a favorable result infront of the fanatical Dorpar crowd.

History & Popularity, Not Skill
Yeaddin Owls shut out Rozier City

It's become apparent to all Nojikans, that in Atlantian Oceania, it's a club or nation's history and popularity that give them an edge, not their skill. "We're better than them," said Rozier City and Nojikan national team captain, Shayne Follett after his champions league match against the Yeaddin Owls. "How they won is beyond any of us."

Players, coaches and fans around the nation have come to the conclusion, that competeing in any sort of competition outside Nojika has become "pointless" because of the edge teams gain over other teams becuase of their rich and popular history.

Now that Rozier City and the Nojikan national team are both out of the competitions they were previously competeing in, coaches and officials from Nojika will determine later this month when and if they will ever compete in football competitions outside Nojika again. Should a decision be made not to compete outside Nojika, Nojikan players would no longer compete in the AOCAF tournament or the AO Champions League, and would not get involved in the World Cup. "I, and a lot of other players in the league, would support the decision and wouldn't mind staying in and competeing only against one another within the Empire," said Rozier City captain Carlos Amoa.

"Hell, I couldn't even tell you who scored the damned goals and when they were scored - that's how ridiculous the outcome of this match is," said an angry and clearly upset Follett.

The final score of the Yeaddin Owls vs Rozier City;

Yeaddin Owls 3 - 0 Rozier City
(UNKNOWN) - (none)

D’oh!

Pylos Reavers 2 - 2 Caledon Simpson

They may have been playing in front of 50,000 of their own supporters down at the Oceanside but Reavers’ “twelfth man” couldn’t tip the balance in favour of the home team as the side from Pylos were held 2 - 2 by Krytenia’s Caledon Simpson in the first leg of their AO Champions League quarter final.

One player who was certainly up for the encounter was Reaver’s Krytenian international midfielder Nick Caraiani and that clearly showed as the midfield maestro laid the first goal on a plate for striker Judson York. Caledon hit back twice in the second half but Caraiani ensured that the spoils were shared with a sweetly struck free kick that curled up and over the wall and nestled into the top corner, beyond the reach of Scott Jensen.

Pylos Reavers now travel to Krytenia without any advantage from their home leg and having conceded two away goals as well. But Alex Santoro’s side already have three away wins to their name in this tournament, in Nedalia, Oliverry and Milchama. Also Reaver’s have a huge incentive to do well as their current league position is a long way off the Hyper League’s two Champions League places so only by winning the tournament can they guarantee their entry in AOCL IV. That and the fact that, if the media are to be believed, the Champions League performances are all that are keeping Alex Santoro in a job after the perennial title challengers have dropped like a stone in the Hyper League.

This quarter final is easily the closest of the four as Iskara Daii and Vilitan duo Yeaddin Owls and Jungle Strike all took commanding leads in their ties. Iskara Daii continued Starblaydia’s recent dominance over their rivals from Lamoni with a 4 - 1 win over the Karakan Wolves. Jungle Strike won 2 - 0 at home to Nedalia’s Dorpar FC and elsewhere in the Tropics the Yeaddin Owls overcame Nojika’s representatives, Rozier City, 3 - 0.

Nojika, RPs are actually well rewarded within the scorinate system...but so is consideration for how the country did last year with its two club and how the club itself did last year. Your RPs were very well written and it was a pleasure reading them, and come next CL, Id have to imagine, based on your participation of your clubs the past two years, coupled with your RPs, on paper ud have one of the stronger sides in the tournament.

But let me assure you, there has been absolutely no bias, I write them as they are scorinated. The only thing I did change was that I gave Daii an extra something for winning the NS CL (I figured that had to be rewareded somehow since it represents club strength.) But again I assure, please dont take it personal, it was just the luck of the numbers.

Bite, Scratch, Advance
PYLOS, HYPOCRIA / SIMPSON, OUVERDIA - Tim James was hero of the hour in both legs as he scored in both matches to hand the Caleys a four-two aggregate victory over a determined Reavers side after two tough games. James and JC Wood-Collins put Caledon into the lead twice with two precious away goals in Pylos, however twice a Krytenian stood in their way. Nick Caraiani, formerly of Kallia and Linford, made sure that Simpson's advantage was a theoretical one.
The second leg, however, saw more defensive-mindedness, and two quick counters led to the two goals that put Caledon in the semis. Next up? Er...
PYLOS REAVERS (HYP) - 2 (York 34, Caraiani 81)
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 2 (James 17, Wood-Collins 55)

CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 2 (4) (James 22, 50)
PYLOS REAVERS (HYP) - 0 (2)

Owls About That?
KAFRA, NEDALIA - We've seen this lot before. Caledon's semi-final opponents are none other than the first team they played in this competition; the Yeaddin Owls. Going by the group results, the Owls are strong favourites for this one. However, Yeaddin's away form in this competition hhas been atrocious, and if the Caleys can make the most of the first leg at Walton Gardens, a ticket to the final may just be possible. Here's hoping.

They Came, They Saw, They Got Mangled
SIMPSON, OUVERDIA - So much for the strength of the Yeaddin Owls. They were rolled over with some aplomb by Caledon in this Walton Gardens mismatch. Tim James, one of the favourites for the tournament's Ballon D'Or, was inspiring in his solo run for the first after thirty-two minutes. Alex Varov added to the misery before half-time, and though the Owls pulled one back, Varov struck again late on. Simpson can almost smell the DMS turf, and only a complete capitulation in Vilita will deny them. Though Nwoko's will do a roaring trade either way.
CALEDON SIMPSON (KRY) - 3 (James 32, Varov 43, 84)
