"..now to another sport, Softball. It may not have much of a national impact in Starblaydia but there are people across the region who like Talkin' Softball, and we'll go to commentator Jimmy Unagi at Earl's Park. Jimmy, what can you tell us about Softball?"

"Well Trey, its a bat-and-ball game similar to Baseball, which itself prehaps evolved from Cricket, which most Starblaydis will be familiar with. Most people's memories of Softball will be from Phys Ed lessons at school and, frankly, the game isn't much different from those halcyon days of our collective youth."

"Jimmy, who do you think the favourites are?"

"Well I'd be looking at the Druids, or perhaps the Crystils. Lamoni may even be in with a shout, but don't quote me on that."

"Thanks Jimmy, I'm sure our viewers will enjoy being introduced to this sport..."

"Official NANN coverage of the games of the first AOlympiad continues, live from Avid-Diord today. I'm NANN correspondent Graham Palin. Right now, I'll send it over to field reporter Kasia Hauderhall."

"Thanks, Graham. Before the events officially get under way, let's preview another sport that Ainorpisp will compete in here at the Games: softball. A lot has been made back home about the Ainorpispian team, who sport an athletic squad that should give the opposition a run for their money. In a field of 9 teams, they'll have their work cut out for them if they want to have a chance to medal."

"But don't overlook Ainorpisp, either. I'd look for this team, nicknamed 'the Amazons', to surprise some people here. Back to you, Graham."

"...and now we send it over to the softball field, where the Aquil women are looking to defeat the Turori Eels in their first game."

"Thanks Bill. Well, the coach of the Falcons hasn't announced the roster yet, so we'll just have to wait until the game starts to find out who was named to the team. However, the Aquil team would have to be in the running, as baseball is quite a popular sport, of course."

"I'm here with Mol Igltesa, one of the starters for the Vilitan softball team. Mol, what do you think of the Ainorpispan's claim to being a team to look out for?"

"Well Obviously we'll have to watch out for everyone, but as for Ainorpisp, I don't know if they have the program behind them to challenge for a medal. That doesn't mean we'll be going into the match any differently than when we play a more favored side like Crystilakere."

"What do you think of the Pispan nickname, 'The Amazons'? "

"I don't like it at all, actually, They should get their own Jungle, like us. I play for Tivalia right in the Tivali Jungle, so obviously we have our own, and I don't see why Those Pispans have to take someone elses."

"NANN is back, and with me now is the coach of the Ainorpispian national softball team, Andi Whittman. Thanks for joining us, coach."

"Thanks for having me.

"First off, what are your thoughts about your chances to challenge for a medal?"

"Well, obviously we're inexperienced in international competition, so if we do get to the later rounds, that in itself will be a huge accomlishment for our program. This team's made up with the top collegiate and professional players of Ainorpisp, so it's the best we can throw into the fray. It's an honor just to be here to represent our nation, but we're going to play our hearts out on the field."

"What about the nickname 'Amazons'? Where did that come from?"

"I think I should explain that the name 'Amazons' has nothing to do with a jungle of any sort. It's actually a reference to the historical nomadic tribeswomen that had a culture of warrior women. They inspired the Greek myths of warrior women, known today as 'Amazons'. So our team's named after them, we apologize if there was any kind of mix-up regarding the nickname.

"I know you have to go now, so good luck in your first game."

Welcome to LBC's live coverage of the first Aolympiad.

"Softball looks to be a challenge, with all of teams looking impressive. I would not think it out of the realm of possibility that Lamoni could walk away with the gold here," came the voice of correspondent Lisa Peters. "In fact, the Lamoni softball team would like nothing better than to avenge the soccer team's loss to Crystilakere with their first game. With me now is right fielder Kristin Kilpatrick. Kristin, how does it feel to be in the first Aolympiad?"

"I can't describe how good it feels to come to the first Aolympiad, and how proud we all are as a team. We are going to give it our all, and hopefully come away with a medal."

"Thank you Kristin, now back to you in LBC's Aolympic studios."

The ANN report released today showed that Abattoir's newly founded team will be facing a regional newcomer, Ainorpisp. The nations experience with baseball, and similar sports such as softball, give it somewhat a better hold on the situation than of some of the other events. Reporters will be standing by to make announcements on any activity from the team.

"NANN is back to the AOlympiad, where things are starting to look up for Ainorpisp in the softball competition. The Amazons, after losing a heart-breaker in their opening match against Abbatoir by a final tally of 5-4, came back to compete even better against regional founder Vilita's team."

"Today, the Amazons came out ready to play, and it was close in the early going. Vilita scored the first run of the game on an Ainorpispan error, but from then on, it was all Ainorpisp. Left fielder Sheila White tied the game up with an RBI single in the third, bringing the score to 1-1. The score remained tied until the fifth inning, when Katarina Kingston (third base) hit one into the outfield for a double. Right after that, catcher Roberta Alfwood moved Kingston to third and herself to first with a solid single."

"Then came the batter Ainorpispan fans have come to rally behind - Becca Tepes, the powerful shortstop from Everglade Villa, a suburb of Sarmatia. Tepes, who'd already hit a solo shot along with a two-run homer in the 5-4 loss to Abbatoir, continued her hot streak the moment she stepped into the batter's box. Knocking home a three-run homer, Tepes gave Ainorpisp a 4-1 lead. The Amazons held on to win by that tally behind the strong arm of pitcher Gwyn Ortega, who struck out the final two batters.'

"Again, the final tally in this one was Ainorpisp 4, Vilita 1. Currently the Amazons are in second place in the standings, with a record of 1-1. Next up, after their bye day, Ainorpisp and its powerful offense will take the field against the only team currently undeafeated, the Lamoni Hawks. Should be a great game."
