With the announcement that Latao and Starblaydia had agreed to talks in Lamoni, a secure site was placed in readiness in eastern Lamoni. All that remained was to wait for the arrival of the delegates from both nations so that the talks could begin.

Two men of power that shall remain unnamed for now:

Sir, Lamoni has agreed providing a secure site for our talks with the Starblaydi leadership, everything is prepared, they’re awaiting our representatives and they have submitted the message to Jhanna – an official reaction is not yet known.

I understand. Let the Lamonian experts report their government what they have seen, then bring them to the Salzberg residency, lock the shelter and place a protection squad at the door and the area; ensure that any further communication from the experts group will not take place.

As for the conference, we send a low-ranked delegation of 20 people there for this first round. Let’s see what they want and clarify our points. The men shall stay there for three days. Be friendly, but do not agree on anything.

It hadn't taken long to produce, what with the strength of the Starblaydi economy and the power of her Armed Forces. Taking a quick stop-over in Nedalia to complete a previous agreement, the helicopter taking the delegation that was to meet Latin representatives in eastern Lamoni quickly took off into the western skies and made yet-another stop at the []iIndris[/i] Battlegroup off Nedalia's southern coastline.

From there they travelled by Starblaydi frigate to the wates south of Lamoni, wary of any Latin naval units both under, on and above the water. The following message was sent to the Latin embassy:

CODE
.:: Finance Ministry Transmission ::.

Further to your previous transmissions, please make preparations for the transferral of a sum of money between our two nations.

Lord Juan Bruntos
Minister of Finance
Protectorate of Starblaydia

Two military helicopters then ferried the delegation team of eight men to Lamoni. Upon disembarking from the helicopters, it was plain for all to see that three of the Starblaydis carried suitcases handcuffed to their wrists. The meeting would soon begin.

Peter Fischer left the room for a moment, to report the interessting news home:

"Sir, the Srarblaydi councilor has brought the money and showed it as proof - what should we do now ?"

Listen to their conditions...and let Lamoni arbitrate, but the chances for success are good.

When everyone had made it into the building, and the doors were locked (for security reasons), the new Lamonian Vice-President Arthur Greene got the meeting started.

"I welcome the delegations from the nations of Starblaydia and Latao to the Free Republic, and hope that we can get this situation resolved with a minimum of conflict. Now, I turn the floor over to the Latin delegation."

The Vice-President looked at the head of the Latin delegation, and waited for him to start speaking.

Gentlemen, thank you for arriving. We all know what we're here for, so I keep my self short: Our claims are known. Thank you.

The Latao delegate sits back on his chair.

-The Lamonian nuclear weapons experts-

Being shown three former Lamonian nuclear weapons by the Confederacy of Latao had confirmed the suspicions of the head of the expert group. He seriously wondered if Latao had more of them somewhere that they weren't showing. As he was making a satellite radio report to Lamoni, he noticed that there were a lot more Latin troops around then there had been. Really getting suspicious now, he kept an eye on them as he finished his report. As he signed off, one of the Latin troops fired his weapon at the radio, wrecking it. Before the head of the expert group could say anything, the Latin soldier in charge started speaking.

The Latao speaker wasn't touched by this cheap attempt to make the Latin delegation nervous. "If the Lamonis can't count their own nukes they sold, it's not our bad" he said, smiled and took a sip of his Grappa.
"Where is our money, Mister ?"

"Vice President Greene," the head of the Starblaydi delegation acknowledged the Lamonian as he stood to speak, though was interrupted by the Latin delegate demanding his money, "Mister Fischer, I believe we have everything you are asking for right here. Gentlemen, if you would?"

Of the seven men remaining in the delegation, six stood up. Three with their wrists handcuffed to the suitcases and three others with the corresponding keys. The handcuffs were removed and the cases opened. The six men withdrew automatic weapons rather than handfuls of Starblaydi Credits. Accredited as Diplomatic Pouches, the suitcases containing the 'money' had been legally protected from search by international laws. Previous checks by Lamonian security were for any weapons secreted about the person of the Delegation, but the suitcases had been exempt from that.

In one swift motion the men pulled out the guns then pulled their triggers and sprayed the twenty men of the Latin delegation with bullets. Not a single one was to be left alive.

QUOTE (Latao @ Aug 10 2005, 12:17 PM)
Immaterially (Immediately?) after these terrible news have become public

OOC: And they became public how, exactly? This shooting happened in a room somewhere in Lamoni. Plus they have orders not to leave a single Latin alive. So, from everyone else's point of view, you've attacked Starblaydia for your own reasons.

If you want to try and do an RP of your delegates trying to escape and get word out of my delegation's actions, please let's do that. Otherwise your government has no idea what is going on.

That was a strange sound, the Lamoni based radio operator thought as the connection with the nuclear weapons experts ended. Standard procedure was to capture all such priority contacts on tape, so the operator was able to rewind the tape back to where he heard the sound. Although he wasn't able to clearly hear the sound through the ending of the communication, he thought that the sound might be a gunshot. So, he called his superior over, discussed it with him, and they went over to a specialized computer to filter out everything BUT that sound.

"Gunshot." The superior said as he mulled it over. "Call the expert team again, and if they don't answer, we've got a problem on our hands."

After several radio calls had gone out without reply, a report was sent to President Stone.

Mr. President, as we recieved the latest report from the nuclear weapons experts, the radio operator heard a sound in the background.  Once we filtered everything else out, we determined that it was a gunshot.  As we have had no further contact from the nuclear weapons experts, we conclude that the gun in question might have been aimed at the group's radio.

When President Stone combined this bit of intelligence with everything that he'd been hearing from both Starblaydia and Latao, Stone and the cabinent held a war vote. The result was a majority in favor of going to war. After official notification was sent to the Lamonian Senate, a declaration of War was sent to Latao.

Given the recent actions of the Confederacy in continuing to harbor nuclear weapons and possibly kidnapping Lamonian citizens sent to your country to disarm the nuclear weapons, the Free Republic has no choice but to declare war on the Confederacy of Latao.  Have a nice day.
