1 - Amarenthe (91%)
Smart play has earned the White Tigers two straight wins, including a crushing victory over Chacor. With a struggling Legalese team up next, this third match should ultimately serve as a confidence booster since Amarenthe has already provisionally qualified, the only 2-0 team so far.
2 - Spruitland (89%)
The Bunnies opened their AOCC experience with a masterful 10-3 smash over Milchama in eight ends. Next up is the tough and gritty Dorian and Sonya team, look for a close match there as the two teams battle for an outright lead in Group B (both are tied at 1-0 having had their bye days).
3 - Dorian and Sonya (88%)
Dorian and Sonya have the best odds in the tournament at 9:2 and they are proving their worth so far, taking Bettia to task by a 9-7 score on MD1. Now they have the Spruitlanders to contend with, and Group B is already shaping up to be the one to watch as they battle for curling supremacy.
4 - Myrtannia (86%)
Myrtannia opened their AOCC match series with an 8-4 victory over struggling Legalese. Their fans are the rowdiest in the buildings, their flags and curling apparel the most distracting but their team's the one to watch as Myrtannia heads into an important game against Chacor.
T5 - Iksonic (84%)
Iksonic showed its offensive prowess against Legalese on MD1, 8-5, but faltered against the Amarenthian defence on day 2 to go down 6-4. They are 1-1 but they are far from defeated. Iksonic will take their bye day to recuperate, practice lightly and strategise for game four against Chacor.
T5 - Krytenia (84%)
The Krytenians are mid-pack on the power rankings, oddly enough, because they're mid-pack in the standings. They lost 7-6 to Milchama on day one only to come back and down Bettia by the same score the next day. Now, they have the day off like their fellow 5th-ranked squad Iksonic.
7 - Bettia (83%)
Don't let the 0-2 record fool you. Both of Bettia's losses have been ultimately out of their hands and by narrow scorelines, and Milchama is still smarting from its 10-3 jangling at the hands of the Spruits. Look for Bettia to earn its first win on MD3 - without it, they'll probably be out.
8 - Milchama (79%)
Milchama's play was uninspired on MD2, thus they have dropped to 8th. And they are in serious trouble now with the possibility of a loss to the hungry Bettians, who are 0-2 and struggling to stay out of that bottom and sole elimination spot. It's all uphill from here for the Milchamans.
9 - Chacor (77%)
Chacor was literally owned by Amarenthe on day one, but they have had one day to rest and rejuvenate their spirits and confidence. Chacor was a strong team coming in but that crushing loss has forced them to have to prove it against an upbeat, markedly more confident Myrtannian squad.
10 - Legalese (68%)
Legalese has been a terrible squad at the inaugural AOCC, losing 8-5 and 8-4 to Iksonic and Myrtannia, respectively. Their offence is struggling, their defensive strategy seems to be off and they don't look like they're having fun. Legalese may very well be the first team eliminated. |
