QUOTE (Kakin @ Sep 19 2006, 03:03 PM)
Message Title: Warning. Factor 1.

MESSAGE TO ALL NATIONS.

With the storms of War on the horizion, Kakin would like to remind all nations that ANY attempt at murder, torture, unauthorized enterance to Kakin with be severly delt with.

ANY attempt at war, conflict, skirmishes will be forced IMMEDIATELY back and there WILL be a counter-offensive.

Signed,

General Zeek
Commander of Kakin Ground Forces

"And Kakin is where, exactly?"

"Dunno, Chief."

"Check the map, see if any plans go through it."

The military aide had a brief look through his pile of maps on the table, to see if any of the simulations run would involve Kakin. Only a few that involved the theoretical conquest of Pacitalia - the war sim boys had way too much time on their hands - there were outlines of plans of wars with pretty much every nation in the world, never mind Atlantian Oceania.

"Nothing likely, Chief."

"Well then, recommnd that the new music sensation 'ASP|RE' gets sent to them, just to torture their ears a little when their girls scream for that damn boy band."

"Yes, sir," the aide chuckled, making a small note in the appropriate file.

Khara looked at the release that the government of Kakin had handed out to all governments of the region. He couldn't help but chuckle at it for a minute or two. "A little paranoid aren't they?" said Khara to Minister Arani, who was sitting across from him in his office.

"Who can blame them? Practically every analyst and news outlet in the region has been speculating that some kind of war is on the horizon." said Arani.

"Everyone just needs to calm down. If we think a war is coming, and then start act like one is, then of course it will show up on our doorsteps." said Khara.

Arani shrugged. "I suppose you've got a point their. What do you want to do in regards to their announcement?"

"Nothing. I'm more concerned about what's going on in other areas of the region right now."

Falcon pressed a button on his desk. "I love those guys at Jay." A map table on a thick pedestal rose from the floor. Needlessly decadent, but amusing nonetheless. "Remind me, Miss Valens, where exactly is Kakin?" Benila wielded a laser pointer, gesturing to a smallish landmass not far from Falcania. "Hmm. Right out of the firing lines. No major resources, no oil worth invading for. No real reason to involve it any military strategy. What's their military like?"

Michael Hack brought up some figures on his palmtop. "Defensive budget... Just over seven billion of their gold pieces. Nearly 1.5 billion Talons."

"Hmm," Falcon mused. "Nothing special then. So why the paranoia? Perhaps we shall never know."

Capitalizt Defense Alliance Headquarters, Aeropag, Jativa

General Mitchell Mendoza (Commander-in-Chief of the Capitalizt Defense Alliance): Ah, what do we have today…Nedalia are building a bunch of slani ancient weapons, Starblaydia are being their usual arrogant selves…what’s this? Some strong words from a nation with no ability to back them up. Al, how far are the States from Kakin?

Al (computer): Kakin is thirty kilometers plus-or-minus five kilometers from either Kaiwu Island or Syoko Island. Shall I download a more accurate map to measure?

Gen. Mendoza: That won’t be necessary, Al. Has the CCCP responded to their statements?

Al: Searching…The CCCP has increased its readiness level to E–Gamma in response to regionwide military buildups.

Gen. Mendoza: Increase our threat level to 1–1–9.

Al: Threat level increased.

Gen. Mendoza: Kakin really doesn’t have much of a chance of stopping an invasion, do they?

Al: The strength of—

Gen. Mendoza: That was a rhetorical question, Al. Issue a statement stating that the CDA will not tolerate any attack on the nations of Paripana, and will respond with the full force of our military.

Al: Message on-screen. Do you wish to make corrections before it is sent?

Gen. Mendoza: Ah, I love this thing…Send the message.

Al: Message sent.

Gen. Mendoza: Also inform our members that we will require an additional cut of their profits should a military situation arise.

Al: Done.

Gen. Mendoza: Now I guess we wait…Ever heard of a game they used to play in the old United States a couple hundred years ago? “Tetrak” or something?

Al: “Tetris”?

Gen. Mendoza: Yeah, that’s it! Download and display on screen.

"Zeinab, what's the latest from the Parliament Building in Kafra?"

"Well Chris, the Parliament approved almost unanimously the proposed increase in the Defense budget for the next year, amidst controversy on whether this increase would cut into the education and healthcare budget, which was the rumor circulating. Member of Parliament Johansson Franks reassured the nation, however, with a speech given after the vote, explaining the increase will have minimal to no affect on the other budgets.

The proposed increase will raise the Defense budget to nearly K15.2 trillion, or $24 trillion, which is an all-time high for Nedalia. The previous high was K11.9 trillion, or $19 trillion, which was set last year. With several aircraft and vehicle military production plants, as well as 3 shipbuilding facilities, constructed the past couple of years, the focus of the Dala'a administration has been without a doubt the military.

As tensions continue to increase all around the AO, the increase in the Defense budget does not come as a shocking surprise. However, that did nothing discourage the protesters outside of the Parliament Building, believed to number around 3,000 people. They've been vocal all afternoon, demanding that the money be put to better use.

This is Zeinab Showadeh from outside the Parliament Building in Kafra, back to you Chris."
