LAND AHOY!

user posted image

The first great extension to the map. A new large mass has been sighted to the south of the region.
The key system has been overhauled too to include various new icons plus the colours are changed a bit. A new colour for new nations only and the red is closed off. Think about exploration, you can't jump to the middle (ignoring air, that?s not fun) the outer areas have to be taken to gain the inner areas. You may want to update your icon status as I have changed the airports a bit and added dock icon (To be used where there is a MAJOR dock). Each nation can have 1 plot each, apart from AORDO members who can have another block if they can specify how it will help the defence of the region. I do suggest you nab some of the northern blocks and start transport routs into the cove area and we can build out from there. Areas like 3 would be ideal for a canal if you take one block but if you are willing to wait you could take two then once the ones below become available finish it off with little expense. Or you might fancy some eastern islands.
btw, where there are a lot of islands to the west, they come under the property of the block they are closest to but you can take them individually for free (provided you don't take any more than 3)

30 and 16 so we can keep the southern borders safe, and we will paradrop in forces and equipment on confirmation... also, the general THS governement would like to have the 3 islands closest to space #2 as Air stops for transports and the like. - THS AORDO Rep.

Oh, and BTW, this will be my last expansion for a LONG time... no more territory needed till i reach bout 3.5 billion.

Posted by: Salmantic Apr 19 2004, 11:14 PM
20 would be great for an Airbase. Salmantic could build an airbase for AORDO use free of charge to AORDO. Salmantic would also Man the base up to 90%. this would give a strategic airbase in the south, which i think is needed? Thats the only territory I would ask for.

BTW Great job on the map!!

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 20 2004, 08:10 AM
Done.

And Holy Saints, you realise if you were to, at some point, gain 28 and 29 you
could bridge the two land masses. Just a thought.

Transport networks, cities and bases will be marked once people have claimed what they want.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 20 2004, 09:50 AM
Vilita would like 16 & 30 please ":)

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 20 2004, 10:27 AM
smile.gif Done.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 20 2004, 11:52 AM
all my stuff looks like "new nations only" stuff ohmy.gif

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 20 2004, 11:59 AM
I was worried that might be the case. As long as your names on it though smile.gif

Posted by: Salmantic Apr 20 2004, 12:03 PM
In the new territory an AORDO Air base is being built smack dab in the middle. 2 cities have sprung up due to work on the base. One on the coast by 13 and one next to the base. A rail system from one city to the other is also under way

Posted by: Vilita Apr 20 2004, 12:05 PM
Vilita would like section 34 as the sole inhabitence of it's Puppet Nation, "Turori"

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 20 2004, 12:32 PM
map updated.
Tachbe has set up the first ferry link to the new land mass and a rail link across it. 4 cities and a military base have been set up along the coasts. With the new ports on the inner coast established the option of a ferry link is avalible to the Vilitan colonies

Posted by: Vilita Apr 20 2004, 12:33 PM
Ferry to the south point and continue straight accross to the opposite land mass.

No links to turori

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 20 2004, 12:50 PM
done, map will be updated when there is a new change

Posted by: Holy Saints Apr 20 2004, 10:18 PM
...hm... sure, when is my next expansion slot? or may i just get those two regions right now?(28 and 29 i mean)

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 21 2004, 11:03 AM
Okay, rules are crap. People can have what they want within reason (my reason).
Equilibial is now also on the map after just joining.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 21 2004, 11:18 AM
Vilita would like 32 and provincial rule over the native peoples of 20, to be integrated into the Vilita system over time.

Posted by: Salmantic Apr 21 2004, 11:51 AM
Salmantic is interested in connecting a rail-link to the Tachbe/Vilita ferry link from the city outside of the AORDO facility. once the territories have been taken, then a rail system around the central mass of water would be usefull.

Posted by: Holy Saints Apr 21 2004, 04:35 PM
transport time....

Ok, on the ones where you suggested a bridge, put one. then, for the other three, put military bases to the north coast of each. Also, add a Harbor at my capitol. please add 1 city on the north coast of the mainland New Island provence i have.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 08:05 AM
Done. Will be updated shortly.

Posted by: Samonina Apr 22 2004, 12:41 PM
plot 19 would be nice
We could have AORDO outposts/military training in and around the coast and islands assosciated with it as well.
On a personal note, i think Samonina is starting to look a bit pathetic and small anyway.

Normaly I wouldn't give away such a large amount without a seconds though but in your case you deserve it, you've been here a while and helped but you havn't had a single expansion. By the way if you ever want to enlarge your home land west a bit your free to chip at my border, up to a point smile.gif.
Okay, can all those who have take new land, including me, hold back untill we have atleast 2 new nations on the map.

Posted by: Samonina Apr 22 2004, 02:18 PM
thanks for letting me have that land, Tachbe. I prob wont be needing any more anyway.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 02:21 PM
any roads, cities etc?

Posted by: Samonina Apr 22 2004, 02:30 PM
The City of Rosaar in the main cove on the northern coast. You'd better make that a dock too. as for roads etc, just add them as you see fit, to benefit the region further. Whatever is going, really.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 02:38 PM
The dock symbol is for major major docks only.
I will add roads and the city in for the next update.

Posted by: Samonina Apr 22 2004, 02:51 PM
orite whatever. im just a small country. make sure u keep me in my place sad.gif

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 02:57 PM
Now now, were a team. Which means you do exactly as I say.
No, you a small county on the map but your important to the region. I am just saying that a city in a cove thats just started up is no more a dock than, err the capital of Villiges. By major dock it would be a world leader in a startigic location. Now Holy Saints capital is the capital of the largest county on the map and is th eopposite side of 'the new land'. Tabla is the capital of the leading naval power and is the key ferrly link to loads of countries. East Gate City is a massive city along the C. channel and is a key stop off point with great transport links across the channel and onto the mainland.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 22 2004, 02:58 PM
There are a lot of Villages on there for a puppet smile.gif

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 03:02 PM
a puppet has rights too you know!

Posted by: Samonina Apr 22 2004, 03:21 PM
its okay, i see where your coming from. i was just being facetious. thats got all the vowels in the right order!!

Posted by: Holy Saints Apr 22 2004, 04:12 PM
oh, and the islands all the way to the south, add bases in the center of the right one of the double island and in the center of the other one.

thanks.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 22 2004, 04:16 PM
done for next update.

Posted by: Crystilakere Apr 23 2004, 12:15 PM
The map is too sporadic, people have land all over the place... There is no free land adjacent to me can 21 be moved a bit north and given to Crystilakere? smile.gif

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 23 2004, 01:20 PM
I am sure Vilita will be willing to donate extra land. I'll make a few more islands round you place.

Posted by: Xile Apr 24 2004, 08:13 AM
I would like to claim the areas deemed 20, 2, 3, 5, 24 in the southwestern corner of the map as "living" space for Xile's 1.8 billion inhabitants. I would also like to try to claim #12, which is deemed 'free land' on the map if at all possible to make room for Xile's thriving industrial and technological sector.

Thank you.

Posted by: Abattoir Apr 24 2004, 08:39 AM
I would like to claim the territories of 18, 23, 11, 12, 22, 20, 19, and 21 in the southeast corner for my 1.8 billion citizens. With my massive military and sprawling industry, I believe this would be enough land to suffice my inhabitants for the time being, thanks.

Posted by: Crystilakere Apr 24 2004, 08:51 AM
Can you make one of those islands Diamindokere, my puppet?

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 24 2004, 11:29 AM
updated.
welcome to the region.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 24 2004, 11:37 AM
Okay people, I fear the current map won't stand the test of time. I added the southan island as an extension and I was planning to keep doing that but I doubt we could do an effective map with the current system long term. I could try to tweat and improve the current oen to last longer but I didn't design it to handle this much. I can re do it all, simmiler design and format, but done in a way that I can make fixed rules for claiming land an expanding. But before I do anything I wnat to know if anyone would object to starting over with the map, they could hold a simmiler position depending on how differn't the map is. I don't know what the end result owuld be myself. So, do you feel it nessesery or waste of time?

Posted by: Samonina Apr 24 2004, 01:12 PM
well dont do anything rash, Tachbe. i dont think the map needs redoing just yet. people dont need as much land as they are asking for, really. i think you should just be a wee bit stricter about who gets what. ppl were asking for 5 or 6 plots.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 24 2004, 01:20 PM
the plots for new nations are more than justified. its the awarding new plots to old nations that messed everything up to begin with

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 24 2004, 01:24 PM
It sthe claimed land all over the place, its hard to lay down rules and be strict when loads of things have already happend. To introduce all round rules would mean peopel will be forced to give up alot, or move entirly, to give anyone an exception would be unfair to others. We either continue down the current road and attempt to minimise the affects or start over. The current plan I have woudl alow peopel to occupy areas they currently do with a few exceptions. All colonial land eliminated. New rules including limitations on expansion, fixed borders and colonial registartion and requirements. All of this would solve alot of problems but could not be intorduced for the current map.

Posted by: Samonina Apr 24 2004, 01:30 PM
hang on a min actually. what about all the nations that we are expelling soon?that would free up space. just seems silly to start again.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 24 2004, 01:49 PM
Its not a question of space, its how everything is running. And it's not exactly starting again. I iwll ahve a map ont he same kind of layout with simmiler areas but it will be slightly bigger with more differn't areas and more defined features. Just about everyone will be entitled to an area simmiler to there own in the same place, not entitled to colonial land.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 24 2004, 02:05 PM
samonina, trust this, it will be beneficial what tachbe is doing

Posted by: Samonina Apr 24 2004, 02:34 PM
ach silly me. ive tried to argue with tachbe before and it just dont work.. sad.gif

I will post up a prototype soon, there you can see most changes

I object. just make expansions, but! the next few should be large islands with defined rules on them to limit expansion, and afterwards only AORDO members can establish military outposts on outlying islands near the boarder and new nations can claim land on these islands.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 25 2004, 12:49 PM
Don't worry about it THS, It's not going to be completely started over, it's just going to be reverted to pre-idiotic expansion age

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 25 2004, 03:21 PM
There is one thing. The scale of the new map would be diffenr't and there will be new block arrangment, all block siwll be smaller. The southern island is removed again since it doesn't fit well. One thing you may object to, but I ensure is needed is this section of the new rules which speeks of ways to expand home land territory. "... Expand into a nearby area that you border. Requires 500mill pop. Can only add one new block every 500mill and maximum of one a month...." I will release the full rules soon. The larger nations will be the most affected I wont deny, your starter blocks will be smaller and expansion limited and slow, but that sthe way of real nations. The UK has a bigger population than France but is half the size. Nations can be more dense or sparce but in reality that can't simply add another block on the side and move their citizens in. All the rules I have worked out are nessesery to stop any future massive expansions.
There are no rules on puppets because theres no way to know if somthing is a puppet so it would be unfair but I ask you not to abuse the absence of rules.
I myself will have a very long term period of ONE overseas territory and a halt to all new puppet creation.
Oh and all new borders will be PERMANANT, the sizes FIXED

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 25 2004, 03:46 PM
Full rules (minus one segment that won't make sence witout seeing the map)-

Each nation can take one block each.
Nations with populations 250 plus can register as a colonial power.
A registered colonial power can take any free area of land they border (ONE BLCOK), or if they are an island, the closest land block or any island within their sub region. If their economy is high then they can have any two blocks anywhere on the map.
A nation with a low economy can't become a colonial power but if they are already and dropped to low they can keep their colonial territory. The borders on the map are permanent. If you wish to expand your home land you have 3 options.
1. Expand into a nearby area that you border. Requires 500mill pop. Can only add one new block every 500mill and maximum of one a month.
2. Negotiate with a neighbour to hand over land.
3. Declare war on a neighbour to take land.

I will post up the design tomorow.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 10:20 AM
Yes, by entering in the possible need fo for war for some nations to get land I thought would make it more realistic and.... interesting.

Now, I am about to post up the map, Now I am sure people will complain about losing territory so just imagine the scales slightly differn't and everything is bigger.
Those last two nations will ahve to re-apply as I got rid ogf the south isle.

Oh and if you object to the map I am welcome to any constructive comments above nationalistic agenders.

Posted by: Vilita Apr 26 2004, 12:20 PM
Perhaps we should start a new thread with the new map, also would it be possible to show a smaller version, like just resized in the main thread, and then make it clickable to go to the larger version, this map does a trick or two with the forum and makes it all out of whack

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 12:20 PM
Oh I forgot to say about Irsland.

That island is like our equivilent of Antartica, its position on the map is not its real position, hence the double line, it is infact way off some where. Its a little place I put in just to see what people make of it, It is a barren inhospitable ice covered wasteland way off in the distance. But it has unique wild life and geography, it has mineral reserves and fish stocks. Basicly I want to see what ternd people take towards it, you can do what you want apart from try to claim all of it or claim it has your home land. You can build a science outpost, military base, nuke silo, oil drills or turn it into a regional park, you can set up a small city or claim large areas (claims are not politcaly valid, you claim is your own and could overlap with others). Anyway, like I say what you want, any ideas, treatys, experiments. You could dump nuclear waste for all I care I want to see what happens smile.gif!

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 12:22 PM
Vilita, I was worried it might happen, but it works fine on mine. I was going to start a new thread once everyone else has given thumbs up.

I could make a smaller version for quick viewing, 50%, and have the full version on the website?

Posted by: Vilita Apr 26 2004, 12:36 PM
Yea, doesnt even have to be 50% ... 60-75% would probably do fine

Posted by: Salmantic Apr 26 2004, 02:04 PM
awesome map! Salmantic profusely approves! Northern territories will get interestingas time goes on i think.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 02:12 PM
Hurrar!
If Holy Saints approves I think it's a winner.

Posted by: Holy Saints Apr 26 2004, 02:57 PM
nice nice nice:

could you move THS over so its just at the end of that river, but still touching ocean, with AM in space 13?

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 03:00 PM
So you want space 11. Okay, I guessed you would want moving but I didn't guess to there. Okay, I will get on it.

Posted by: Salmantic Apr 26 2004, 03:10 PM
ok, so the whole registration for colonial wutever thing..... hows that working? we just say we want to colonize if we meet the requirements?

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 03:13 PM
Yer. 'Registering' is basicly saying you want to, I just wanted ot make it more formal smile.gif.

Posted by: Xile Apr 26 2004, 03:19 PM
I think the new map is great, withholding the fact that I'm not on it :-).

So I suppose I pick my plot of land...and #2 in the Northeast looks promising.
I would also like to register for colonial priveleges.

Thank you.

Posted by: Tachbe Apr 26 2004, 03:26 PM
can do, will update shortly.

Xile is now ready to become a colonial power.

--------
Reposting of rules after I made a tiny ammendment and added Irsland

Each nation can take one block each.
Nations with populations 250 plus can register as a colonial power.
A registered colonial power can take any free area of land they border (ONE BLOCK PER MONTH - MAX 5), or if they are an island, the closest land block or any island within their sub region.

In the case of Irsland, it is an inhospitable island that nations may want to set up scientific or military outposts on. They can claim small areas of land too but its quite worthless.

Crystilakere is not yet within the requirements for a colonial power, however we would like to signal our intentions not to persue this. Our land is fine and we are not currently looking to expand beyond block 5, the islands to our Northwest, assuming they are still available when we are able to expand. After this we have no plans to use our future colonial abilities.
