KARAKAN: Karakan seems to be doing well in the first leg of the first round of the AO CL III knockouts; routing the Sukatra Tigers 3-1. If Karakan can pull off another win against Sukatra, they will advance to the next knockout round with no trouble at all. We're not sure who exactly that Karakan would face in the next round, but we expect that it will be a challenge. Still, seeing as how Karakan defeated Starblaydia's Iskara Daii the last time around, anything can happen. The Wolves will just have to wait and see.

Hypocrium Hefticaly

The on fire Strike set ablaze once again in their first leg against Hypocrium City. The hyppo laden club were no match for their Vilitan counterparts, netting their only goal of the match on a freak goal half an hour in where a low flying bird was struck by the errant shot of a Hypocrium midfielder, redirecting the ball catastrophically just under the cross bar. This goal cut the deficit to 2-1, however Strike would just keep pounding through for the final 4-1 scoreline.

Initial reports are that the Bird has sufferred two broken wings and a severely bruised ego, though he'll certainly have a story to tell his grandkid birds.

One In, One Out

Rozier, Nojika - Both competing Nojikan sides were met with feirce competition and still proved they too were tough teams to beat. For Nojika's Premiere League champions, Rozier City, they ended the group stage with a 3 - 0 win over Irkutsk to finish first in their group with 11 points. Rozier City, during the group stage matches finished with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, and were able to produce 12 goals while allowing 8.

However, Premiere League runners up, Roenech FC, were not quite as able to produce the wins to move on to the second round. Finishing the final matchday of the group stage with a 0 - 2 loss against Jhanna City, Roenech finished the group stage with 6 points, just 4 points behind Jhanna City who finished first with 10 points. Roenech FC finished their Champion's League season with 1 win, 3 draws and 2 losses and forced just 7 goals and allowed 9 goals.

And after the first match day of the second round, Nojikan fans around the country are sure that they have the team that will be deemed, the team to beat. Rozier City came out on top over the Desert Foxes from Milchama with a 4 - 2 victory and a chance to advance even further into the competition...

SIMPSON, OUVERDIA - They came, they saw, they went home with their tails between their legs. Simpson dominated this match against Vilitan side Irougil, with Nedalian saviour Tim James smashing home a brace, and young Zack Starkov netting from a corner. One of the few plus points the Vilitans will take from this match is the fact that they did grab an away goal. But you feel Caledon have one foot in the quarter-finals.

YEADDIN, VILITA - Once again, Nwoko's Bar was helping Krytenian fans drown their sorrows. Admittedly, it was quite a few less due to MISA's support of the Druidan national side, but the consolatin flowed freely. Mercia's capitulation at the hands of the Owls sees them almost certainly eliminated, barring a resurrection of Gilmeecian proportions in the second leg.

KARAKAN: With a 0-0 draw with the Sukatra Tigers of Bettia, Karakan easily moves on to the Quarter Finals. Who will they face next, you might ask? At the moment, it appears that Karakan will face Starblaydia's Iskara Daii again. Seeing as how the Wolves defeated the Daii in the last CL, we expect that the Starblaydis will be pulling out all of the stops this time. As the Iskara Daii is the best (or, most recognizable) Starblaydi squad, this rematch will be seen as a potential AOCAF preview. Certainly, it looks like the fans will be even more hostile than the players will be.

Milchamians crash out embarisingly

With almost identical in both first and second legs the two Milchama have crashed out in the second round of the AOCL. Great Alexandria could not even manage to find the net against Hypocrian side Pylos Reavers losing on aggregate 4-0 while the Desert Foxes defense kept on giving up score as they lost on aggregate 8-4. The only thing we can say now is may it help them in the NSCL which is much bigger and harder.

Rozier City - Off to the Quarters
And to face Vilita's Yeaddin Owls

Rozier City came out on top of the Desert Foxes twice in the second round, each time winning 4 - 2. This allows the Nojikan club to advance to the Quarter finals where they will face the Yeaddin Owls from Vilita.

"This competition is something we want to win. We're going to fight as hard and as long as is needed until it's all over," said forward captain Shayne Follett, "And hopefully, with a little luck and skill, we will be the victors of the whole damned thing."

Confidence in the young lads is running high and they hope to be able to produce a score line that nobody is expecting out of them against a tought opponent.

Reavers Through as City Fall

Pylos Reavers v Great Alexandria

Reavers fans must be wondering where this form is coming from after watching some pretty average displays in the league this season. But in the Champions League Alex Santoro’s side are on fire, winning seven of their eight games to date. Now the side from Pylos have come further than any Hypocrian team before them as they eased past Milchama’s Great Alexandria and into the quarter finals.

Goals from experienced winger Theo Petras and Krytenian international Nick Caraiani in Pylos gave the Reavers a 2 - 0 advantage going into the away league. In Milchama Petras found the net again to add to an earlier goal from Judson York to secure a 4 - 0 aggregate win.

Pylos Reavers now face Krytnian opposition in the form of Caledon Simpson, who overcame Vilita’s Irougil FC, for a place in the final four.

Hypocrium City v Jungle Strike FC

They may be the nation’s biggest club but Hypocrium City have failed to progress past the second round stage again. The writing was really on the wall after the 4 - 1 hammering in the Tropics in the first league where the Imperials goal came from a bizarre incident in which a wayward effort from Snell actually deflected in off a passing bird.

The first leg result meant that the Imperials needed a 3 - 0 home win to progress. For a time it looked like they might do it when Shirko opened the scoring in the first half and Keda made it two in the second. But as the home side pushed forward they were caught with a sucker punch, a Vilitan goal that ended their involvement in the tournament.

IROUGIL, VILITA - Pride restored for Irougil, but the tie to Simpson. The Vilitan side just couldn't get the clincher they needed to advance on away goals, and the Krytenian Season Five champions squeaked through. Next up for Caledon are the Pylos Reavers, and a return to home shores for Nick Caraiani. The first leg is in Hypocria later this month.

As it is, the Mercians bow out with at least some pride intact. The Owls, meanwhile, are off to face another side from Bromham's group - Nojika's Rozier City.

The Nedalia Premier League Year Three champions found the exit door after being guided there by Starblaydia’s Iskara Daii in the 2nd Round. Despite being Nedalia’s most successful team in the last couple of years, Rappor FC has not been able to show the same tenacity in the third installment of the AOCAF Champions League, barely getting by the group stages before falling to Iskara Daii.

However, Dorpar AC continues to go from strength to strength, defeating Jhanna City of Starblaydia over the course of 2 legs in the 2nd round. Last CL, it was Rappor FC who made the quarter-finals; this time, Nedalia’s representative in the final eight will be the runners-up of the Year Three.

With the 1st Leg of the Quarter-Finals over, Dorpar will find themselves with a mountain to climb at home, having lost to Vilitan side Jungle Strike FC 2-0 away from home. Hopefully, they will be able to pull a favorable result infront of the fanatical Dorpar crowd.

Yeaddin Owls shut out Rozier City

It's become apparent to all Nojikans, that in Atlantian Oceania, it's a club or nation's history and popularity that give them an edge, not their skill. "We're better than them," said Rozier City and Nojikan national team captain, Shayne Follett after his champions league match against the Yeaddin Owls. "How they won is beyond any of us."

Players, coaches and fans around the nation have come to the conclusion, that competeing in any sort of competition outside Nojika has become "pointless" because of the edge teams gain over other teams becuase of their rich and popular history.

Now that Rozier City and the Nojikan national team are both out of the competitions they were previously competeing in, coaches and officials from Nojika will determine later this month when and if they will ever compete in football competitions outside Nojika again. Should a decision be made not to compete outside Nojika, Nojikan players would no longer compete in the AOCAF tournament or the AO Champions League, and would not get involved in the World Cup. "I, and a lot of other players in the league, would support the decision and wouldn't mind staying in and competeing only against one another within the Empire," said Rozier City captain Carlos Amoa.

"Hell, I couldn't even tell you who scored the damned goals and when they were scored - that's how ridiculous the outcome of this match is," said an angry and clearly upset Follett.

D’oh!

Pylos Reavers 2 - 2 Caledon Simpson

They may have been playing in front of 50,000 of their own supporters down at the Oceanside but Reavers’ “twelfth man” couldn’t tip the balance in favour of the home team as the side from Pylos were held 2 - 2 by Krytenia’s Caledon Simpson in the first leg of their AO Champions League quarter final.

One player who was certainly up for the encounter was Reaver’s Krytenian international midfielder Nick Caraiani and that clearly showed as the midfield maestro laid the first goal on a plate for striker Judson York. Caledon hit back twice in the second half but Caraiani ensured that the spoils were shared with a sweetly struck free kick that curled up and over the wall and nestled into the top corner, beyond the reach of Scott Jensen.

Pylos Reavers now travel to Krytenia without any advantage from their home leg and having conceded two away goals as well. But Alex Santoro’s side already have three away wins to their name in this tournament, in Nedalia, Oliverry and Milchama. Also Reaver’s have a huge incentive to do well as their current league position is a long way off the Hyper League’s two Champions League places so only by winning the tournament can they guarantee their entry in AOCL IV. That and the fact that, if the media are to be believed, the Champions League performances are all that are keeping Alex Santoro in a job after the perennial title challengers have dropped like a stone in the Hyper League.

This quarter final is easily the closest of the four as Iskara Daii and Vilitan duo Yeaddin Owls and Jungle Strike all took commanding leads in their ties. Iskara Daii continued Starblaydia’s recent dominance over their rivals from Lamoni with a 4 - 1 win over the Karakan Wolves. Jungle Strike won 2 - 0 at home to Nedalia’s Dorpar FC and elsewhere in the Tropics the Yeaddin Owls overcame Nojika’s representatives, Rozier City, 3 - 0.
