Welcome to the 5th edition of the Atlantian Oceania Champions League, where the best domestic clubs in the region will vie to claim the title as the best club in AO.

The draw for the Groups is set for Sunday January 15th with the first matchday to take place on Tuesday. Unlike UICA events, where the group stage is scorinated as a whole, including the knockout rounds, each matchday will be scorinated individually. Good luck to all participants!

OCC: All RPing will be done in this thread while scores will be posted on IDSN on the NS forum and linked to in this thread.

CF Traian manager Adrian Tudor was both excited and frightened at the fact that they were the only Borsolan team out of the three submitted to make the AOCL. Stuck in Group G with Krytenia's Ousevale Borough, Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's Vegai 4th Quad and the FC Segadors Bergamants of Pacitalia (which he assumed were all from fairly well-established countries in this world's footballing scene), he could barely imagine just what he'd need to put his players through in order to prepare them for these upcoming matches. He was not even aware as to who they would face off against first, meaning that more sleepless nights were surely on the way- not just for him, but for the entire association. This problem was only compounded by his high school friend, none other than the Governor-General Anton X himself, calling him personally one day during practice.

Without looking at caller ID, Mr. Tudor said, "Who might this be?" He asked this with an air of anxiety, for the draw had occurred that morning and he was still running over various scenarios in his head.

"Adrian, I bid you a good morning," the dark voice without any distinguishable Borsolan accent replied. "I do apologize in advance, for this must be very inconvenient timing; regardless, I have a question to ask." In spite of his rather modest upbringing, Anton's speech managed still to be as eloquent as anybody's in the Despotate's higher rungs; he did, however, stutter occasionally during speeches he gave to the public, indicating that he had not received any formal training in this art.

"Sir, do go ahead." Adrian was noticeably shocked about this confrontation, especially so early in the tournament.

"Do you believe your team has the right equipment?" Anton's voice was deep, monotonous, and fairly creaky as a result, but that's how he talked to everybody when he wasn't giving a speech.

"Do you want an honest answer, or do you want my polite answer in the negative with an undertone of shame?"

"You just gave an honest answer, Adrian." It was here that the idea was offered: Anton stated, "I am willing to send a million florins for your club."

His voice noticeably filled with dishonor now, Adrian said, "Sir, I don't believe I could take this."

"Adrian, don't get the wrong idea in your head - it's coming out of my own pocket, and not the government's treasury like some other public officials in this country have been known to do."

"That is not precisely why I was refusing- and do not get me wrong, that's comforting- but you only make a few million florins a year for your services to this country, and even then you blatantly refuse to take all of it. I can't let you do that to yourself for the sake of a private entertainment institution."

"Is that what they're calling sporting clubs nowadays?" Anton replied with a quick snigger. "Nevertheless, I'll let you think on this one. I note that your predecessor had left you with quite the lacking budget."

Adrian's predecessor as manager of CF Traian had led the club into a rather deep debt that the latter had only managed to get out the year before he was fired; Adrian was only finishing up his first year as manager of the club that had seen better days; with his leadership, they had managed to win the Championship, something not accomplished for 17 years. Still, despite the bonuses and the increased attendance now, the club continued in their financial woes.

"Alright, Anton. I'll... think about this unusual proposition." With that, he hung up. Normally, he wouldn't take anything from another person without having a guaranteed way to repay them anyways, but he had his doubts.

Adrian was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the antics of the Party, and on top of that was never particularly trusting of politicians in general. He thought Anton was a good man, but he was aware of the corruption that power could bring, and was also not aware if such corruption was happening to his beloved colleague; he held a strong distaste for Ioana Melinte (and so did Anton, albeit secretly and not as strongly), and was afraid of the lady and her morals. The Party did have a policy of ensuring that corruption in government would be dealt with swiftly, as aided by the opposition groups; nevertheless, he doubted such promises were always carried out.

With that in mind, he was not sure whether or not the money would purportedly come from the Governor-General's own pocket or from that of the office's accounts.

And then he realized he needed to get back to practice.

Damn, he thought to himself, this Championship thing is really getting to me.

AOCL V Live Coverage, only on AirSport 1!
All the news about sport you'll watch!

So it's official; Integral are facing down Mandragora, Cednia Beach, and Royal Emberton in Group C; Associated Digital are fending off Qidade Savana, Cafundo do Juta and Arcticala Inlet in Group F. All but one of these sides is from one of the region's top world-cup winning nations, so one way or another there's glory to be found.

Integral manager Tobi Worner was reportedly "quietly confident" about the draw, but Associated Digital manager Wil Pankt could not be reached for comment, though was allegedly heard saying "We'll at least gut the Jinsayans before Cafundeu and Vilita take us down." We believe Jinsayans in this context to be a misunderstanding of the pronunciation of Jasiyun, the nationality of Qidade Savana.

So here we've got the lineup of Integral FC. Don't forget, they're playing in the Black & Green. We've also italicised the players who are expected to form what is known as the "starting 11".

Manager: Tobi Worner

Sentinels: The sentinel, or "goal keeper", is the player who is the last line of defence. He wears a different colour strip to the other players, and is permitted to use his hands.
Rarnin Hearst (Captain)
Homas Mornfod

Guardians: The guardian's role is to manage the defence of their team's half, and negate the opponent's strikers.
Graehm Fortt
Allian Brost
Timmith Chorch
Doncan Norrin
Samael Spiet
Daved Spendar
Luys Boford
Chras Hoges

Proteans: Proteans tend to adopt positions in the middle of the pitch, and contribute to attack or defence whenever needed.
Shorn Bennt
Pattrik Write
Danniol Parkar
Kyvin Smyth
Stethen Roze

Spearheads: The spearheads are the players responsible for scoring, outwitting the opponent's defence and putting us ahead
Lonni Brack
Thax Akirax
Navan Smairt

Tune in after these messages, where we'll answer the question that's been on everybody's lips: just what does "offside" mean, anyway? We have leading football expert Jimmin Tarr in, with some of the latest theories.

Strike are one of the most storied clubs in Vilitan history, and always boast a very strong, very Vilitan starting lineup. Some of the best players in Vilita history have come through the gates of the locker room of Jungle Strike FC, including Callum Banda, Inaki Soler, Ricky Ezis, Jimmy Kater, Santo Kecker and many others. It took 12 seasons before Strike would win their first Stellar Division title, then they waited until Season 18 to win again. But Jungle Strike were clearly the dominant team before the gap, winning 6 of 7 Stellar Division titles, a streak matched previously only by the Yeaddin Owls. Strike did the double twice in that time period, and even pulled off the 'Triple' winning the Stellar Division, Vilitan Cup and Tropical Trophy all in Season 20/21.

Strike have been to the knockout stages of all the great International Competitions they have entered, but never followed through with a championship, last being eliminated in the Semi-Finals of Champions League 8. Strike were strong performers in the Inaugural Atlantian Oceania Champions League competition, knocking off Jhanna United and Spraatan Tigers en-route to an appearance in the final in South Soettia where they would ultimate lose to Sarzonia's Woodstock Wild. After missing out on an invitation to AOCL II, Strike returned for AOCL III and once again shone brightly. Unfortunately, another fine international run would end in the Semi-Final stage at the hands of Starblaydi powerhouse Iskara Daii, who would go on to lose in the championship match.

Given the downslide of Krytenian club Caledon Simpson, AOCL III champions, Strike are undeniably the most successful AOCL team among the AOCL V entrants. While none of the players on the current Strike roster were around for the Venom's previous AOCL championship attempts, they will hope to learn from their coaches and boosters who were there about the experience, and use it as a motivating factor to gain an advantage over the opposition. Riding on the back of an incredibly successful V-League 27 season, and in preparation for the AOCL V, Jungle Strike FC made a couple of new signings. First, Strike made Vilita National headlines be coercing Jomur Hulyer, a Yeaddin Academy trainee and midfielder who committed to Marine Coast United despite their relegation after Season 26, to switch allegiances down the coast to Lonngeylin, even after helping Marine Coast rebound with promotion back to the Stellar Division in Season 27. Hulyer, while not the first, may certainly be the fastest player in history to represent each of the 'Big 3' in Vilitan Sports; Yeaddin, Marine Coast and Strike.

While Strike are not the winningest club in Stellar Division history, they are the most consistent. Strike have never finished below 6th in the Stellar Division table throughout 27 seasons of competition, the only team that has finished in the top half of the Stellar Division table in every season of its existence. Led by the clubs all-time youngest player, future Vilitan starlet Yves Gadois, and supported by a plethora of current Vilitan National Team players, the Strike squad will be tough to beat, and looking to complete a triple salvo for the first time in club history by taking home the AOCL title.

Cednia Beach AFC are one of the founding members of the Stellar Division and one of the few teams who has competed in the Stellar Division for every season of its existence, having never finished below 11th. Cednia Beach are the only Turorian team to ever win the Stellar Division Championship, having done so multiple times. The clubs all-time top player was Goalkeeper Milauo Slietah who made nearly 600 Stellar Division appearances for the club. Slietah is also notable as being the first goalkeeper to ever score a hattrick in an International match, for the Turori National Team against Starblaydia, and having been elected into the World Cup Hall of Fame. Slietah, along with fellow Turorian Marlian Hunial, helped form Cednia Beach AFC for the inagural Stellar Division season.

The Coconut Kickers are making their second Atlantian Oceania Champions League appearance, but first since the inaugural edition of the competition, with no Turorian representative being sent for editions 2-4. After winning their second V-League champions in Season 26 to the delight of the entire nation of Turori, who had no National Team competing at the time, Cednia Beach outperformed all expectations as a first-time entrant into the UICA Champions Cup, qualifying for the group stage and then advancing from the group stage to the knockout rounds. Cednia Beach debuted internationally in NS Champions League V, along with the Yeaddin Owls and Jungle Strike FC. Cednia Beach topped their group then proceeded to win their round of 16 match up. In the Quarter Finals, they faced none other than their rivals the Yeaddin Owls and were helpless to stop the eventual tournament champions who knocked them out of the competition 4-1 on aggregate. Cednia Beach did one better in NS Champions League 7 where they made it to the semi-finals, this time, Avoiding the Owls, but instead, getting ditched 1-2 on aggregate by Iskara Daii, who would also go on to win the tournament, this time, by dispatching of the Yeaddin Owls.

Ever since, the Coconut Kickers have spent a pretty penny trying to nab talent away from the Owls, especially anyone with Turorian blood, like World Cup 20 Final goalscorer Tanner Nerni. Cednia broke the bank when they spent 4.6kT on Antonis Siazzu, an all time Vilitan League record in Season 22. However, with the Owls eliminated from International Competition, and Cednia trying to make a name for themselves, the Turorian club put all their eggs in one basket, spending 12.7kT, nearly 3 times the all-time record Vilitan transfer, to acquire the rights to 19 year starting Vilita National Team forward, and half Turorian, Kristofer Kilpter. The beach have made other signings to bolster their side for the AOCL V, including Krytenian forward Eric Tyler and Turoki Tide midfielder Rexii Tzikas, but it was the magnitude of the investment that the Turorian favorites made in a player from their rival club that has put all the attention on Kilpter, who will play his first match for the club in the AOCL group stage.

Manager:: Jeremie Emeka

Stadium:: Cednia Beach Center (103,000)

Biggest Victory Margin:: 6-0 v. Lopinka (Season 3)
Highest Scoring Game:: 5-5 v. Marine Coast United (Season 1)

Most Appearances (All Time):: Milauo Slietah (593)
Most Goas (All Time):: Carmine Mbidzo (63)

Projected Starting Lineup:

GK:: Jaqe Planst [VIL] - 16 Years Old

D ::: Diauro Dlaminii [TUR] - 19 Years Old
D ::: Yoains Konoaafeo [TUR] - 20 Years Old
D ::: Uajiala Pulkki [VIL] - 18 Years Old
D ::: Eda Shindhi [VIL] - 19 Years Old

M ::: Tiika Diirotora [TUR] - 19 Years Old
M ::: Cristoh Nrubari [VIL] - 20 Years Old
AM:: Damien Weir ----- - 16 Years Old
AM:: Rexii Tzikas [VIL] - 18 Years Old

Arcticala Inlet will participate in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League for the second time, first since AOCL I. Twice V-League champions, the Inlet have also won 7 Vilitan Cup titles, tying them with Yeaddin Owls for the most all time. Arcticala were also Declasse champions in Season 4, and have won 4 of their 8 Tropical Trophy appearances. The list of former players at Arcticala Inlet reads like a who's who of the World Cup. From Vilita's Callum Banda to Cockbill Street's Rhianna Peters or the incredible Half-Starblaydi, Half-Rejistanian super breed of Syku-Lyku Agbayani, it is no surprise that the Electricians have had their fair share of success throught the years.

The "Electricians" nick name for the club has evolved through iterations of the clubs actual name, being referred to in Starblaydi press as "Electrical Outlet" rather than "Arcticala Inlet". Fresh media caught on, and 'Electrical Outlet' got shortened to 'Electrical' which eventually led to the nickname the team possesses today. *The club had a new stadium built during World Cup 34 and won their Season 25 championship playing in the beautiful new stadium. Unfortunately, during the V-League gap between Seasons 25 and 26, the maintenance costs on the new stadium were too great for the club to pick up, and the stadium fell into moderate disrepair, so the Electricians returned to their original home, Inlet Stadium, for V-League 26 and will remain in the relatively low-capacity arena until renovations are complete at their World Class facility.

Arcticala recently competed in the UICA Globe Cup, but did not have much success, winning their first 2 rounds to qualify for the group stage before crashing out at the bottom of their group. Besides the AOCL, Arcticala previously competed in NS Champions League 7, but did not achieve the same success as the Yeaddin Owls, Strike or Cednia Beach. Arcticala have been fighting for many seasons to be mentioned in the same breath as Yeaddin and Strike when the top clubs in Vilita are mentioned. Perhaps now, with Marine Coast bouncing back and forth between Declasse and Stellar Divisions, and the 3-Time NS Champions League Finalists Yeaddin Owls being shut out of a place in the AOCL, for which they would have been the only previous AOCL champions competing, it is an opportunity for Arcticala Inlet to finally establish themselves internationally as the elite club that they have been proving to be domestically, Finishing inside the top 3 in the standings for 17 of the previous 21 Stellar Division seasons.

Manager:: Cp. Callum Banda

Stadium:: Inlet Stadium* (32,000)

Biggest Victory Margin:: 6-1 v. Corra (Season 7)
Highest Scoring Game:: 1-7 v. Jungle Strike FC (Season 6)

Most Appearances (All Time):: Syku-Lyku Agbayani (270)
Most Goas (All Time):: Serge DuPont (79)

Projected Starting Lineup:

GK:: Aranora Jaded [VIL] - 15 Years Old

D ::: Azestella Ajhabeck [STR] - 17 Years Old
D ::: Jimii Tzemo ----- - 19 Years Old
D ::: Akin Diijelhma ----- - 19 Years Old

M ::: Biju Mutale ----- - 19 Years Old
M ::: Resaie Kentiak [VIL] - 17 Years Old

Fabresa questions Pankt’s reality-processing abilities
SAVANA—In a press conference today, manager Rikarda Fabresa laughed off a comment by Associated Digital FC manager Wil Pankt that his club would “gut” KQ Qidade Savana, looking ahead to the Falcanian club’s matchday 2 visit to stádie:qs in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League. When prompted by reporters, Fabresa proceeded to go on something of a tirade about her club’s reputation:

“[Pankt]’s new to this whole club competition thing, I think he can be excused for not knowing that twelve seasons in a row, we’ve made the last sixteen of the Champions’ Cup or the final of the Globe Cup. That’s better than Yuba United! I love saying that. We’ve been in more UICA finals than Yuba in the last twenty-five years. We’ve won more league titles than Yuba in the last twenty-five years. I don’t expect him to read a slani almanac, but to make that sort of remark without at least having a glance at the [UICA club] coëfficient ranking? That’s not a man I’d trust to tell me the time, let alone manage a football club.”

The Atlantian Oceania Champions League will be the first external test for clubs from Falcania, which have never participated in UICA competition. Due to its isolation, Falcanian football culture is markedly different from that of the rest of the world; in particular, it has unique tactical terminology. Associated Digital’s first test against conventional tactics will be a stern one, hosting Cafundelense champions EC Cafundó do Juta, followed by their visit to Paripana. The Falcanian press seem as baffled by the rest of the footballing world as the rest of the footballing world is by Falcania; one video report even claimed that Qidade Savana has a nationality.

Qidade Savana’s first AOCL match is on Wednesday against Arcticala Inlet AFC of Vilita, to be played at stádie:qs. Both Roje’das and Cafundó do Juta have an seemingly-easy route to advance from Group F should they play to their full potential, which might make their clash on the final day of group play rather less exciting than usual.

Despite having more history than Coral Cove FC, more knowledge (like knowing the shape of a soccer ball) than Integral FC and more experience (at the world cup...) than Qidade Savana, the three Vilitan League entries in the AOCL struck out in a big way on the first matchday, Kristofer Kilpter's debut goal for Cednia Beach the only tally on the board for any of the three teams.

Strike were at home at their generically named Lonngeylin Coliseum, and continued their international snide much to the dismay of fans who had thought the team turned a corner by hiring Calaesa Mitaroka prior to their outstanding V-League 27 season. After being dumped out in the first match of the UICA championships, Strike were unable to find the net against Nojikan side Coral Cove as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw. Mitaroka was without excuses following the match, knowing that it is a side they could have beaten, but cautiously optimistic, even with former UICA Champions FKM still to play.

In Turori, Cednia Beach AFC shocking went down to Falcania's Integral FC who were representing Falcania for the first time ever in international sport. The Falcanian's are sure to understand the game a little better now after watching highlights from the match. Cednia Beach made too many errors and looked nothing like the team that advanced from the group stage in the UICA Champions league, or that has finished top 2 in the Stellar Division for two straight seasons. Big new signing Kristofer Kilpter did not disappoint early, converting his first chance to the delight of the home fans, but the 1-2 defeat leaves the Coconut Kickers at the bottom of the table.

There is not much to say about Arcticala Inlet's defeat to Qidade Savana. The Electricians were outplayed and outscored by the opposite on foreign soil, and will have to improve, ensuring to take 3 points in their home matches to aid progression to the knockout stage.

It was never unexpected, really. Walkden F.C. walked off the pitch after a 2-0 to the hands of Errion Vega FK (one of Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's entrants). It was a weakened team, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway if they played their strongest. The managers shook hands in silence, while the sound of the fans roared all around them. The assistants' shook, and they both went into their different dressing rooms.

They really didn't play badly at all. In fact, a few times they outclassed their opponents and had some good chances. They lacked the finishing touch however, and their goalkeeper was on top form. Every shot Wilkinson had was either saved or went wildly off target for some reason or another. It was weird, he normally never played like that. The first half finished goalless. A deserved half time score for Walkden.

The second half. The players played just as good as they did in the first half, yet somehow worse. The Errion manager had brought on another striker and switched to a 4-3-3. That must have made a difference, because Errion were ahead 5 minutes later. The blazing shot skimmed Gibson's fingertips. Errion continued to dominate the ball, and seemed to relax more. Walkden opted for another defender, substituted Edwards, who had picked up a knock from an Errion defender, for Jayden Morgan, who slipped awkwardly into central defence. This didn't make any difference as Errion headed in another, the keeper not bothering to save that one. Wilkinson felt strange as the end approached. He was relieved to hear the full time whistle.

The dressing room was silent. The players waited for the manager to come in. When he did, they all sat in silence for another 10 minutes. Then he nodded. The players got up and left the room. All that anyone could hear was the sound of boots on concrete, clacking their way towards the team coach.
