NICKSIA (ASP) -- The Nicksia Knights, a team perennially on the outskirts of playoff contention in the Sarzonian Football Confederation, announced Saturday that they have agreed to sell midfielder Darwin Russell to Parkville F.C. for close to $10 million Sarzonian. Russell is coming off six matches in the Baptism of Fire Cup where he and the Sarzonian national team dominated their six opponents, outscoring them 17-2.
"While we are saddened to lose a player with the talents of Darwin Russell, we believe that it gives him an unbelievable opportunity to shine in the NEWI Cefn Druids national league," said Knights general manager Harry Benson. "We are sure that Russell will be an asset to Parkville F.C. and to the league."
"I'm going to miss Nicksia, I really am," Russell said as the team boarded a flight to its training location for the World Cup. "But this is an incredible opportunity for me to be the first foreign player in that league and it's a chance for Sarzonia to increase its profile in international football."
Knights coach Josh Niedenfuerer announced that Kerran Johns was the front runner to assume Russell's position in the starting 11 at the moment, but "there's still training and preseason football ahead of us.
"It's going to be strange not having Darwin in the lineup, but it gives another player a chance to shine. It's also going to be a major boost for our league."
League commissioner Buddy Landry hailed the transfer, saying that once the transfer fees are handed over, "the entire league will be in the black."
"We are well ahead of our budget projections for getting out of the debt we had gotten into when we founded the league," Landry said. "Success on the pitch brings success in the financial picture." |

The Daily Druid
RUSSELL SIGNS FOR PARVILLE Ian Question-Mark on the start of a foreign invasion to the Druid league?
Parville F.C. unveilled their new signing Darwin Russell yesterday, making them the first Druid Premier League club to sign a non-Druid player. Russell, a Sarzonian international, will strengthen the Druid league leaders in their weakest area of the field, the midfield.
Russell cost the Parkies 2.8 million groats* from Nicksia Knights in his home country. His former manager at Nicksia, Harry Benson, was disappointed to let Russell go, but said that it was a good move for Darwin to become the first Sarzonian player to play his games out of the country.
Meanwhile, his new manager, Phillip Martin, seemed more than happy with his new acquisition. "Since we lost our two Druid international wingers a few years back, we've not been overly fantastic in the middle third of the pitch. However, signing Darwin should be the answer to our problems. He's young, eager and talented, just what we're looking for."
Darwin should make his Parkville debut at home to bottom club Great Tawney Owls on Saturday. While people across NEWI Cefn Druids are hoping that their club will sign a foreign star, but seeing their hopes come to nothing, Parkville have gone out and started to build their team of internationals.

Champions add to winning squad
In the run-up to WC16 Qualifiers, newly-crowned Starblaydi Alpha League champions Iskara Daii have made two signings.
Rodriguez Da Silva, 24, recently announced as the #1 for the Starblaydia national team has moved from Internashionale to the Daii in a shock move for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of 8 million Credits (around £4M). Rodriguez stated he 'enjoyed his time at Inter, but feels he has to be winning trophies to keep his new place in the national side'.
Ceri Salisbury, 21, has been snapped up after being released from the Vilitan Stellar League club Yutzie Sorma. Salisbury is thought to be the 'missing link' at right-back for the Daii, a mirror to 23 year-old Rastian Salaam at left-back. This move can only improve his chances of being seen by the national coach.
For those interested, Iskara is a district within the Starblaydi captial of Jhanna, while 'Daii' is the ancient Starblaydi word for 'knights', akin to 'Samurai'. |

TWO IN, ONE OUT
The international transfer window in Krytenia is now shut, and there were two major transfers on the international scene:
SNHP XTFUINXM - The Melmond international goalkeeper cost a national record €K14m in cash and players from Aldi Reds. The deal saw his Krytenian counterpart ADAM VERNAZZA go the other way. Vernazza was immediately exchanged to Morales Blacks in the MPL.
JOHN LEWIS - Promising young Spurland international who cost AFC Westleigh €K4m. Still only 20, a precocious talent.
Meanwhile, COLIN ULVÆUS has signed a new two-year contract at Kingsford side Elders, despite interest from Patriots FC.
The domestic window opens later this week - latest rumours are of ACIENKO RIMMER and CHRIS LYDERSEN both leaving for newly-promoted Casuals Osteria. |

Reavers in bid for Sarzonian Youngster
The Hallad Reavers, recently promoted to the Starblaydi Alpha Divsion and famous for their youth academy, are said to be in talks with Sarzonian club Burlington Braves over their young Sarzonian International, Emacio. Though a price has not yet been arranged, the youngster's worth is thought to be around C2.5 Million (Starblaydi Credits), which is around US$3M or nearly £2M. (British Pounds)
Emacio, 22, is currently appearing on the Sarzonian bench in the AOCAF and the Reavers are obviously looking to add to their firey, tough, attacking squad which includes Starblaydi defender Moses Brown and Under-21 Captain and star-striker Eomer Hall.

Braves agree to transfer of Emacio
The minor league Burlington Braves have agreed to a transfer of midfielder Emacio to the Hallad Reavers for a fee of approximately $6 million Sarzonian. The fee is 2.5 millioin Starblaydi credits.
"We will miss having Emacio in our lineup," Braves General Manager Harry Solson said. "But this is an incredible opportunity for him to earn a spot on a team with a great future. We wish him the best of luck."
"I thank the Braves for the chance they gave me," Emacio said. "I look forward to the challenges in the Alpha Division and the opportunity to compete for a roster spot on the Hallad Reavers."
The Braves said they will have a ceremony where his jersey is retired and the fans will have an opportunity to bid the youngster farewell.
"He's done a lot for the team and the country," Sarzonian national team coach Bryan Marshall said. "We look forward to watching him develop with the Reavers."
"This can only be good for Sarzonian football," SFC Commissioner Buddy Landry said. "Emacio is the second player to be transferred to a foreign league. We're thrilled for him." |

Transfer Excitement in Starblaydia
Some major transfers have been happening in the past week, here's a low-down on the movers and shakers in the Starblaydi Alpha Division post World Cup 16-qualifiers.
Jacobs Joins Reavers Starblaydi Under-21-come-Turorian Reserve Duncan Jacob has moved from his home town club of Corinthian Spirits to up and comers Hallad Reavers. Jacob, 23, moves to join the Reds and their hard-hitting, attacking play for around C1.4M. He will link up with Starblaydi Internationals Eomer Hall and Moses Brown.
Sarzonian Starlet moves to Hallad Also joining the Reavers is Sarzonian youngster Emacio, moved from Sarzonia's Burlington Braves for around C2.5M. Insiders believe this 23 year-old will soon win a starting place in his National team, and feel that his attacking-midfield stylings will suit Hall and Co. perfectly. Braves' sources say that Emacio's squad number will be retired, which is a great honour to bestow on such a young player, which can only show the true potential this young man has.
Bigon Back with the Pennies Former Starblaydi International Enrico Bigon has returned to Penningworth United after the collapse of the Kingsford Premier League. Bigon, 35, moved to club Elders and became the first Starblaydi to play abroad, in the years Kingsford won the World Cup. Now Enrico is back, and the fans are very pleased indeed. He will be returned to the number 2 shirt, and re-join ageing Lazerevski and Bentley, who play up front.
Kingsford Striker to Sign for Inter? Internashionale are said to be lining up a bid for Kingsford International Striker Saturn Calcéte, capitalising on the Aftermath of the KPL collapse. It is thought he will be the perfect cutting edge for a fantastic midfield that includes 3 Starblaydi Internationals, inlcuding legend Stefan Haldorsson. It is not thought that wages would be a problem, and Calcéte, 26, is looking for a new club, as are all Kingsford-based players |

A Brace of Braves move from Wapahkoneta Transfer News in Starblaydia
Two Wapahkoneta players have moved to the Starblaydi Alpha Division, in somewhat surprising moves.
National 'keeper Ationokonee, 29, has joined Up-and-comers Hallad Reavers from P'catewah Metequeghke, translated as Black Forest. He joins Sarzonian Youngster Emacio and Starblaydi heroes like Eomer Hall, the nine-goal scoring machine of U21WC5. The fee is believed to be short of a Million Credits, around US$1.2M
Short of a striker or two, Internashionale have snapped up 21 year-old Wesekahnee, the star of Wapahkoneta's embryonic national side. Around US$2.6M have come from Inter's coffers to Silverknife (known in Wapahkoneta as Moni Maanethi). Inter are also trying to sign Kingsford's Star-Striker Saturn Calcéte, who it is though would make a dream attacking line-up with Calcéte, Wesekahnee, de Souza Lima, Haldorsson, Vikerman and Benson. Now maybe they'd just need a few defenders and they'd take their first Alpha Title for around six years. |

(OOC: Since we have more than 5 active leagues in the region, I figure it wouldnt be such a bad idea to revive this Transfer/News/Rumors thread...I'm constantly looking for players from abroad to join the Premier League, maybe this could serve as a source to advertise players as well.)
KAFRA, NEDALIA - With Year Three of the Premier League drawn to a close, the tinkering between teams has begun. The biggest move, ofcourse, is the $8.4 million switch 22 year old Tim James has made to Krytenia, leaving behind his former club (and current CL participant) Dorpar AC. The Premier League Striker and Player of the Year expressed his gratitude to the fans for having faith in him, claiming he will be able to improve his football by moving to Nedalia's northern neighbor. One thing is for sure; he will be missed immensely as Dorpar will struggle to replace him.
Khalil Jamhurra, former U21 star and current Lions national squad memeber, has made the switch from Aanjar to champions Rappor FC for $7 million. Despite Aanjar finished higher than many expected, a move to the current champions of Nedalian football was too tempting to pass up. Many view it as a move that may further heighten Jamhurra's career, despite the fact that he is already considered to be one of the best players in Nedalia today.
Since the fall of the Druidian League, former Parkville striker and bad boy of Nedalian football Mattan has been left without a club. Although there was interest from the Premier League, the team that finally signed him on free transfer was Butetown Dragons of Bettia. The 28 year old striker has had his ups and downs, with his lowest point being when he was omitted from the WC24 squad by national manager Randy Gamman. However, he is back in Lions' colours this time around, and will join many Nedalian counterparts in the Apex League.
The rumor has it that quite a few Bettian players will be heading the opposite direction, making them the first to participate in the Premier League from the Apex League. Officials have not confirmed or denied these comments, but sources state as many as 3 players will be seen in the Premier League in Year Four, with one of them an accomplished Bettian national team member.
Finally, it has been revealed that the very first youth academy in Nedalian football will be opened by Shoreland United of Kafra. It is expected that the team will begin to see the benefits around 2-3 years from now. Currently, they are scouting the best young talent in and around Kafra, with the promise that they will train them while seeing them through high school.
More updates as we get them from the offseason of the Nedalia Premier League.
