Seeing as things are rather slow on the UN front at the moment, here's a nice juicy proposal to get yur teeth into.
Weapon Concealment Prohibition A resolution to tighten or relax gun control laws. Category: Gun Control Decision: Tighten Proposed by: Bjorktzchetzky Description: AWARE that without a license, firearms are prohibited;
FURTHER AWARE that only one person that usually feels safe with the firearm in concealment, that being the holder;
BELIEVING that discharge of or intimidation with a concealed firearm would more often than not cause unnecessary destruction to property or wounding of nearby civilians in the situation of a robbery or other illegal act;
NOTING that more casualties have been inflicted on civilians, both with concealed firearms and without, when a concealed firearm was used to attempt the resolution of an illegal act than criminals;
Therefore-
Article I: Weapon concealment in a public place is punishable of a minimum incarceration in prison of 5 days and not to exceed 31 days AND/OR a fine not to exceed a 6-month salary of the offender in question, unless the income of said offender is minimum wage or lower (in which case the offender is to serve a minimum of 10 days in prison), to be decided upon by a court of law.
Article II: Military personnel and undercover agents of the law are exempt from the prohibition as long as they can provide sufficient identification upon search by suspicious authorities.
Article III: Civilians are subject to arbitrary search without refusal in a public place by an officer able to provide sufficient identification and have suspicions of concealed weapons unjustified by race, religion, sex, dress, or otherwise prejudicial reasons.
Article IV: Under the conditions that the contents of Article III are violated by either party, the offender is punishable with a fine of no less than a 6-month salary of the offender AND/OR a minimum of 10 days in prison to a maximum of 60 days, unless the income of said offender is minimum wage or lower (in which case the offender is to serve a minimum of 15 days in prison), as sentenced by a court of law.

All in all it's a good idea, but I'm not too sure about the mandatory sentences set out here. Different nations may have different attitudes towards this sort of thing - some may prefer stricter sentencing, while some would prefer to be more leniant. Also, there wouldn't be many nations comfortable with conducting on-the-spot searches. Therfore, Bettia says NO. |

In addition to Bettia's reasons, i'm voting no because Lamoni grants concealed carry liscenses. |
