Official Bid to Host the 55th AOCAF Cup

Nation Background
Known throughout the multiverse for its majority population of sapient equines, the Equestrian States is a diverse and advanced island nation located in southwestern Atlantian Oceania. Ruled by Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, the Equestrian States is a constitutional monarchy in name, though the Princess and the royal family hold considerably more political power than in most constitutional monarchies and thus play an active role in the country's government. Technologically, the nation is very advanced for one that only emerged from isolation a few decades ago, combining technology imported from its allies with magic to quickly modernize without the pollution seen in many countries which undergo rapid industrialization. Described by many as a pleasant utopia inhabited by a friendly and diverse population of numerous sapient species which happily welcomes foreigners, the Equestrian States is a natural host nation with an economy which thrives on tourism and sports.

Resumé
The user behind the Equestrian States is one of NS Sports' more experienced hosts, having co-hosted five WCC events (including three World Cups) as well as numerous other smaller tournaments such as the Di Bradini Cup, World Bowl, World Baseball Classic, and World Cup of Hockey.

Format
Signups have not yet opened, so I don't know exactly what kind of numbers to expect, but the format will be simple enough: a single round robin group stage held in the Equestrian States followed by a knockout stage. A Round of 16 will be utilized if the total number of participants reaches 24 teams. If not, the first knockout round will be the quarterfinals. I'll update this section with specifics once I get a clearer idea of what kind of numbers we'll have.

Scorinator & RP Bonus
If chosen, I will use the latest version of xkoranate with the NSFS formula and xkoranate-style (additive) style mods. The latest AOCAF rankings (once they are updated) will be used for the tournament. RPs will be judged based on quality and creativity over quantity and frequency. Bonuses will be fairly generous to encourage active RPing by all participants and a roster bonus will also be available, as usual.

Questions?
Got a question? Feel free to ask it here, shoot me a TG, or get in touch via IRC. I’ll try to answer it as best I can.

After hosting AOCAF 52 with 24 participants with a 16-team knockout, I can honestly state it seems like a good idea in theory but works out worse in practice:

After that, I'd personally recommend at least 32 participants for a Round of 16, anything less I'd now suggest going straight to the Quarterfinals.

Thanks for the advice, I'll consider that. A potential alternative could be to have the Ro12 play-in that I used in the WPIC with 24 group stage participants.

Even as recent as AOCAF LIII (the one I hosted), we had twenty-four entrants and I used a Round of 12: AOCAF LIII
