Soul Expression Looks To Gain River Access

Soul Expression offers the peoples of the region south east of Soul Expression, the possibility of becoming Soul Expression citizens. They will enjoy ALL the benefits our current population have. They will benefit from our efficient govt, our devotion to the people, our peace with other nations, our flag. Our nations will be one.

Soul Expression has alloted a substantial amount of funds for the restructuring of the region to the south east. It is our sincere hope that the citizens of this area will immediately feel they are benefitting from this venture and to immediately see themselves as citizens of this great nation.

We will start by building a port, to open up trade with the south and further relations with the nations there.

Soul expression has no connection to water and the river's end is the closest water source. We desire to build a port there to start trade through there with the nations of the south. The new canals will allow us access to the northern states as well. We beleive a port there would be greatly beneficial for trade in the area, as well as a very profitable venture for us. we also express great desire to have access to a waterway to begin undertaking proper submarine exploration, something our nation has neglected until now. Owning a small parcel of land across another nation is undesireable to us and extremely impractical, which is why we believe that developping the whole region would be more beneficial to all parties involved.

It would be specificly interesting to know what the southern nations think about this as they are the ones that would benefit most from a new port of trade in the region.

The Islands of Vilita have no objection to the small acquisition of land by Soul Expression for the purpose of encouraging trade. However, as suggested by Soul Expression, the motion will not be fully accepted until some nations directly affected by this move and new trade route voice their opinion.

Aethyrea has no objections to the acquisition of land by Soul Expression. I believe that the addition will increase commerce along the strait (river?) that Soul Expression and Aethyrea would share.

If this goes through, Aethyrea would like to open up discussions with Soul Expression regarding trade between our nations.

Wasnt extension to the waterway already approved?

I wasn't sure if it was, or if you would be extending your holdings to reach the sea - either way - it think its a good idea. It increases commerce.

Crystilakere would like to see plans for the treatment and integration of river-bank natives into the Expressionist society. Will there be plans for equal treatment, will their way of life be preserved via reserves or chartered regions of undisturbed land. We would like to see more detailed information on this subject before giving our approval for this expansion. Otherwise, we would indeed take a favorable stance due to the increase in potential trade.

Southeast of Soul Expression is quite a large chunk of land.

Novus Atlantica objects to this expansion until a more specific request is made.

The office of Land Allocation has provided the following Diagram of the effects of the Proposed expansion of Soul Expression to the South East to gain port access to the River.

user posted image

Land expansion will remain general in this nature as it is more realistic. The office of Land Allocation will use common sense to allocate the proper, realistic amount of land based on the information provided in the RP, the nations current status and discussions with concerned nations.

In the future, If requested, The office of Land Allocation will include a graphical representation of the requested expansion and insert it into the main post.

The Lienese government wishes to take this opportunity to support the expansion of the Soul Expression nation into the aforementioned territory. We would also like to enter into discussions to expand the trade between our great nations.

Although the Allied States of Stralphi is far from the proposed expansion, I feel that trade around the southern nations will also enrich the northern nations. I support this proposal.

Respectfully, how more specific do you want us to be? Be specific, please.
We want access to a waterway to the south? We will build a port there(the thing is, we already started building a port there when the extension was previously approved).

The Free Land of Soul Expression
"I was doing time in the Universal Mind..."

UN Category: Left-Leaning College State
Civil Rights: Superb Economy: Thriving Political Freedoms: Excellent

Location: Atlantian Oceania
The Free Land of Soul Expression is a very large, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 187 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Gambling, Book Publishing, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

The Giant Worm is protected from hunting and slowly coming back from the brink of extinction, expensive lawyers are hired to defend citizens in court for public urination charges against their pets, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and minority children spend hours bussing to schools miles away from home. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Soul Expression's national animal is the human, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the idea.
btw, the minorities bussing to faraway schools wasn't what I had in mind, he he, I think I clicked the wrong choice by mistake. I never got this result when I encountered this issue before).

There is no reason to believe we will behave otherwise with our land and citizens from the south, the language from that area has already been adopted as an official language of Soul Expression. Millions of people apply for immigration to Soul Expression every year.

Soul Expression considers itself a beacon of hope for humanity. We would feel extreme shame if we denegriated ourselves by commiting the same errors history has seen.

The Armed Republic of Crystilakere
"Alas the Oaoli Si mona Ieta"

UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Some Economy: Reasonable Political Freedoms: Very Good

Location: Atlantian Oceania

The Armed Republic of Crystilakere is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 416 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Education, and Law & Order. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 66%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Cars are banned from built-up areas, space research funding has hit a recent high while several military bases are being closed down, the Crystilakere Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise, and the government spends millions of crystals every year prosecuting spammers. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Crystilakere's national animal is the tigris, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the crystal.

Eh, it seems Crystilakere takes better care of its animals and vegetation than its citizens.

Soul Expression might be inclined to object to future Cristilakere endeavors due to their apparent lack of civil rights. However, we believe it is not our right to question foreign governments on the administration of their internal affaires. We are well aware of the necessities, sometimes sacrifices, a country might make to acheive a greater good.

I agree with Crystilakere, Nationstates Description or not, he raises a good point which should be resolved by your hands, not the Nationstates coders, before the land expansion is granted!

The choices Soul Expression made in Nation States are extremely pertinent as it was a conscious effort(with obvious results) to give our citizens these benefits of life.

Our citizens are called Souls, not Expressionists.

Soul Expression believes Crystilakere is not competant enough in the matters of Civil Rights and Political Freedoms, to question us on those issues when Soul Expression already demonstrates a greater capacity for those ideals than Crystilakere. Crystilakere would hope to achieve the standards Soul Expression's citizens enjoy as a fact of life. Is it not arrogance for a nation to demand of us, accounts on civil rights when they themselves are unable to display adequate civility themselves?
This demand from Crystalakere only incites us to take notice of the superfluous questions and be even more critical of their source.

Despite their fecitiousness, and that voices heard are 4-2 for the expansion, Soul Expression will still answer Crystilakere's unfounded worries.

The natives are not only willing, but have been anticipating this moment for a long time. They ask for nothing better than to become Soul Expression citizens. They will be fully integrated into our glorious society and will be treated no better or worse than any other citizen of Soul Expression. they will enjoy the same liberties as every other Soul, that is, to live any way they want to.

Do you also want to know what we will do with the soil and stones dug up to build the port? I dont recall such details needed when a few nations wanted a canal, something that is way more detrimental to the environment. Why all the hassles for an enlightened nation that wont destroy anything at all?

I think Soul Expression has a point. The cannel project happened over night without one iota of thought about natives or the eco-sysyem...well, at least not by the majority.

Really, who's to even say that the land in question is even inhabited? Or that the natives residing there, haven't accepted this with open arms?

Soul Expression did a fair job explaining this expansion in the opening post of this thread.

I have already supported the river expansion, but I wish to reiterate that the economic benefits will benefit both the new Souls, those around Soul Expression, and those all around the region.

This thread has nothing to do with me, my national beliefs or the state of civil rights in my nation. This thread is about your nation expanding in order to benefit your national trade route. In expanding you will be acquiring land currently inhabited by local tribes. We would be interested in knowing what your plans were to integrate them into your nation or will they just be ignored in the name of money. By opening this trade route, your ships and people could be passing through our waterways and docking in our ports. We'd like to know what kind of people we will be dealing with, and even whether trained Soul Expression natives will be greeting us at the dock, or if they will be enslaved natives.
