Dryads AOCAF Kits

Head Coach: America McNany (35 years old) - Mari City . Coach of the 3-time MAFC champion Mari City Maulers, and the woman who brought Myrtannia football to the next level. In her first round coaching the Myrtannian national team, McNany led the Dryads to a 1-3-0 record in the group stage, including an upset victory over eventual champion Starblaydia. After reaching the knockouts for the first time in history, McNany's Dryads ousted Vilita 3-0, and knocked out AOCAF XV host Bazalonia to reach the semifinals. Despite two hearbreaking losses, the Dyads still finished fourth in AOCAF XIV, the best finish in the history of Mrytannia football. This time, she's made it her goal to improve in the group stage, though this may prove difficult considering the draw for their group.

Assistant Coaches - Rachell Gabino (28). After being injured against Lamoni in AOCAF XIII, Gabino attempted a comeback in the MAFC with Salahadin City. Two rocky seasons later, Gabino officially announced her retirement as a player, and became the coach at the University of Blackheart. Since then, she's become the mentor of Myrtannia's strikers, who have improved even more since the last AOCAF.

Filiberto Nedina (39) - The man who coined the phrase, "Shutting us out is like shooting squid in a barrel.". Started for the Dryads in AOCAFs XIII and XIV, and played an additional two years in MAFC afterward before officially retiring. Now, he's the defensive coach, and helped select several new defenders whom he thinks will help Myrtannia improve in the back third of the pitch.

Goal Keepers
16. Flo Krabel (27) - Blackheart FC. Starting goalie in AOCAF XIV, but after falling into a rut after failing to stop the offenses of Starblaydia and Pacitalia in the knockouts, she took the blame for Myrtannia's failure to advance past the semis. Since then, she's redoubled her efforts, and gained more experience in MAFC play. Now, she's ready for her third AOCAF, and will do her utmost to keep the ball out of the Myrtannian net.
00. Tiesha Grollman (26) - Bunkal

Defenders
9. Orpha Mega (23) - Gohanda. Newly crowned 'Queen of Myrtannian Defense'. Led the defensive effort for the Dryads in AOCAF XIV, and has consistently been the MAFC's premier defender. She is expected to lead a new, improved Dryads defense to hold the line while the strikers attack.
31. Tamar Ristaino (20) - FC Rajaff. A defender whom Nedina says has 'guts, brains, and a whole lot of bravado'. One of his new additions to the defensive unit, and co-leader of caps in MAFC last season.
8.Charolette Marrington (23) - Halosen City The other of the new starters brought in from the MAFC by assitant coach Nedina, who was third in caps in the league after Mega and Ristaino.
26. Francesco Buvens (30) - Mari City
20. Santo Nordlinger (27) - Halosen United
40. Machelle Burzlaff (19) - FC Rajaff

Midfielders
14. Daisey Martignago (25) - Salahadin City. Decidedly the top midfielder on the team, and expected to help out on both sides of the pitch. Could be dangerous if she gets into a corner kick situation. She had 10 goals result from her expertly aimed corners in the MAFC last season.
12. Rueben Czupryna(33) - Blackheart FC
4. Iesha Alimo (24) - Damascos
2. Shu Ellebrecht (26) - Skalatur
17. Eneida Nonu (28) - Lahar
18. Sarina Hammang (27) - Niniisto

Forwards

7. Dania Figary (24) - Halosen United. Myrtannia's only returning original starting forward from AOCAF XIII, and under-respected by Myrtannian media all the while, she scored the only goals in Myrtannia's last two AOCAF games in the knockouts of AOCAF XIV. In AOCAF XV, she's been given the captaincy, and could finally get the attention she's rightfully earned. Led United to its second straight MAFC crown last season.
10. Deeann Massetti (23) - Blackheart FC. Massetti is famous for being the only player on the roster to score a goal in AOCAF XIII, scoring a hat trick in Myrtannia's only victory there, 3-1 over Dorian and Sonya. She is also the only Dryad to score a hat trick in AOCAF play. In AOCAF XIV, she finished in the top four in goal scoring for all players, and is still a very dangerous forward. If possible, she's only gotten more dangerous since AOCAF XIV.
65. September Rollock (21) - Blackheart FC. Rollock displayed much skill and talent in her AOCAF debut, finishing second in scoring for the offensively potent Dryads as they shot their way into the knockouts, then into the semis.
22. Rozalynn Gabino (19) - Halosen United. Younger sister of retired Dryads/MAFC veteran Rachell Gabino, and dubbed the 'future of Myrtannian football'. Gabino has spent two years in the MAFC, and in both seasons was second in scoring for United, as well as leading the league in goals scored with headers. She's vastly improved from AOCAF XIV as well, and starting experience will only help her play better still.
33. Asley Danoff (27) - Mari City
21. Tocarra Khat (24) - Niniisto
11. Myong Tuman (18) - Vanhaanen - MAFC's Newcomer of the Year, leading all newbies in goals. Has been given a slot on the team to give her experience on an inter-regional scale.
41. Sabra Nang (16) - Siggurd Jarlson High School - Not yet in the MAFC, but she's expected to sign a contract once she graduates from school. Yet another talented striker from SJHS, she could appear on the MAFC pitch soon, and as a potential future starter on the AOCAF pitch.

*Age of player in parenthesis, colored number denotes starter, linked names have pictures!

Starblaydia's Style will be +1: vaguely attacking

Notes:
1) Many of these players can be found in The 'Starblaydi Sports' Category on the wiki. If they're anybody, they're linked to their article in there. Plus you get grammatical lessons in this note too, this time, so good for you, hope you learned something!

2) The best starting eleven are, thankfully, numbered 1-11 and are in bold

3) I actively encourage, nay nearly demand, that if you RP first you pick my scorers (if any).

4) Player bios on the less-interesting players will come when i have the inclination

Bettia AOCAF 15 Squad

Style Modifier

We don't do defence - we trash defence.

In typically gung-ho fashion, Bettia will be playing with as positive a style modifier as possible (+5), utilising a highly attacking 3-4-3 / 3-2-5 formation.

Roleplaying

If RPing first, the FAB give our opponents permission to RP / godmod pretty much anything they like... just don't kill or maim anyone, cos that's just not very nice is it?

The Enlightener, the Blessed Realm's brightest daily, is pleased to announce Bettia's squad for their latest AOCAF, and it's an intriguing blend of youth and experience. We all know what they're like on the pitch, but what are they like on the sinde? We asked sports psychologist Geoff Winterstone to delve into the minds of our squad to answer the pertinent question - what kind of animal would they be?

Manager:
Stuart Abdul-Rahim
"Bettia's former star striker has certainly injected a real attacking mindset into the team with his oft-repeated mantra 'We don't do defence'. I think if he was an animal, he'd be a wasp - he won't rest with just one goal, his team'll keep stinging and stinging and stinging until their opponents cry out for mercy."

Goalkeepers:

1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 28, 138 caps.
"Yes, I think that if Bettia's long-time number one shot stopper was an animal, he'd most likely be a cat, what with his amazing agility. He also enjoys tearing expensive furniture to shreds."

2. Safwan Sulaiman - Irogil FC (Vilita), age 20, 6 caps
"Young Sulaiman, one of many former Under-21s who have graduated to the senior squad. If he was an animal, he'd be a monkey, thanks to his amazing acrobatics and his safe pair of hands. He also enjoys vandalising cars."

Defence:

3. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Makosile United (Vilita), age 28, 105 caps, 1 goal.
"A former under-21 who has become a veritable rock in the Aroras defence. If he was an animal, he would be a bear - go in for a 50-50 challenge with this fellow, and you could be feeling more than just a little grizzly. Just don't leave any pic-a-nic baskets laying about nearby."

4. Stephen Harris - Grappenhall, age 22, 14 caps
"A talented youngster who has claimed a starting spot after a good showing in AOCAF 14. If he was an animal, hmmm, I'm not too sure, but he wouldn't be a donkey. Perhaps a shire horse, thanks to his tireless workrate and rather daft-looking haircut."

5. Jon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 29, 125 caps.
"A vastly experienced centre-back whose many sparkling displays in the green and gold have held Bettia together when put under the cosh. If he was an animal, he would be an owl - that's a wise old head on a relatively young pair of shoulders he's got there (thankfully, they're all his own). Watching this guy nick the ball off an opposing forward is a hoot."

6. John Hanson - Akani Sands, age 28, 49 Caps
"A more than capable centre-back with plenty of international experience. If he was an animal, he'd be a donkey - dependable, reliable, and very adept at hoofing the ball up the field. During the summer, he can be found on Akani Sands beach letting children ride on his back - parents needn't worry, it's not as dodgy as it sounds."

7. Clayton Howes - Lorshill City, age 21, 10 caps
"This lanky young centre-back is a very big prescence in his own penalty area, and also the opponents' area where he can cause all manner of trouble from set pieces. If he were an animal, he'd be a stork - his comically spindly legs are worth the admission fee alone."

Midfield:

8. Badr Warlow (captain) - Gabalfa City, age 30, 87 caps, 20 goals.
"This midfield general has almost unmatched prowess from dead-ball situations, and his leadership skills has seen him promoted to captain. His indomitable spirit and 'lord of all he surveys' attitude means that he'd be a lion, the king of all the beasts. Plus, his family all belong in a zoo."

9. Ali Ap Tegryn - Lorshill City, age 28, 51 caps, 10 goals
"Bettia's diminutive playmaker who has set up many a goal in his time. If he was an animal, he'd be a sparrow - small, energetic, boisterous, and very vocal. Very appropriate too - when he was a kid, he hung around in gangs making a lot of noise."

10. Ziyad Farmer - Porasse (Nedalia), age 28, 45 caps, 3 goals
"This Nedalia-based midfielder loves nothing more than to run with the ball from his central position to set up an attack. If he was an animal, he'd be a bull - his powerful charges up the middle are an imposing sight, plus like all good Bettians he absolutely loathes the colour red."

11. Cledwyn Foyle - Tamrida, age 22, 8 caps
"Cledwyn Foyle has proven to be an excellent passer of the ball, finding his teammates with pinpoint accuracy. If he was an animal, he'd be an eagle, and not because of the load screeching noises he makes when he scores a goal, or catches a rabbit."

Wingers:

12. Jamie Kingsholm - Grappenhall, age 28, 44 caps, 1 goal
"After a shaky start to his international career, Jamie Kingsholm has become a vital part of the Aroras machine. If he was an animal, he'd be a raven - if he left Bettia, we'd all be doomed (doomed in a footballing sense, anyway). He loves to dump on his opponents from a great height. (Hmmm... perhaps he'd be better as a seagull or a pigeon?)"

13. Jason Abdullah - Butetown Dragons, age 28, 98 caps
"Butetown's winger has the pace to put any defender to shame. He would most definately be a dragon, thanks to his firey temprement and legendary skill. Such a shame he doesn't have wings - now that would be cool."

14. Egryn Vaughan - Lorshill City, age 20, 14 caps, 1 goal
"Vaughan's trickery on the ball makes life very uncomfortable for any left-back unfortunate enough to be marking him. Bearing that in mind, if he was an animal he'd be a porcupine - very difficult to handle. You can insert your own 'prick' gags here."

15. Laurie LeClerc - Zupera (Nedalia), age 28, 45 Caps, 10 goals
"Zupera's flying winger is truly a sight to behold when in full flow. If he was an animal, he'd be a stallion - his magestic runs up the flanks are magnificent. According to his wife, he also has a massive cochjjkfbh... oh, do excuse me - I sneezed there."

Forwards:

16. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 28, 122 caps, 55 goals
"Bettia's wonderkid... well, he would be if he was ten years younger. He's still bloody dangerous though. Thanks to his lightning pace and the way he pounces on anything loose, he would obviously be a cheetah. That's where the similarity ends though - apparently, the rumours regarding some unusual spotted markings on his back are totally false."

17. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 27, 147 caps, 72 goals
"Another Vilita-based player, Hutton would most probably be a terrier thanks to his sheer tenacity, pedigree and boundless energy. His 'cocking-his-leg-up-against-the-corner-flag' goalscoring celebration has to be seen to be believed."

18. Gwrlais Devanallt - Akani Sands, age 20, 22 caps, 14 goals
"A dangerous youngster who finally gets to strut his stuff on the big stage after tearing many an under-21 defence to shreds. If he were an animal, he would definately be an arora - he may look harmless enough, but take your eye of him for a second and he'll have your head off. Well, not literally of course, but you know what I mean."

19. Gwarthen Rhydderch - Lorshill United, age 20, 13 caps, 6 goals
"If young Mr Rhydderch an animal, he'd be a shark, and not because he lends his mates money at extortionately high interest rates. He's a very deadly predator who can rip defenders to pieces if they let their guard down for a split second."

20. Tariq Al-Jahani - Gabalfa Rovers, age 21, 10 caps, 2 goals
"Tariq is one of those players who seems to do nothing for eighty-nine minutes, and then BAM! He pops up in the right place at the right time and scores the vital winner. If he was an animal, he'd be a scorpion - this guy has one hell of a sting in his tail."

21. Ieuan Howerth - CPD Porthbalfa, age 28, 37 caps, 4 goals.
"Well this one's a no-brainer. No, I don't mean Howarth, I mean his animal alter-ego. In keeping with his club nickname, he's most definately a flea - he jumps around all over the place and irritates his opponants immensely."

The Modifier is +3.

MANAGER
Sam Dilford : Age-41
When he was announced as successor to Brent Vent by the NFA, the desicion was met with widespread criticism. You would be hard-pressed to find a more popular man in Nedalia nowadays, however, after leading the Lions to the World Cup 29 Finals with a team widely viewed as a bunch of has-beens, he is now recognized as a national hero.

GOALKEEPER
Henry Tillment : Age-24 : Bronkstone FC : Uncapped
The Nedalia Premier League's current Goalkeeper of the Year, the youngster has unseated Bettian based Hard Dans as the Lions' No.1 after a spectacular season with his club. This will be his first international tournament, and if his performances domestically are anything to judge by, he could be the 2nd coming of Derrell Lynch.

DEFENDERS
Gradd Corona : Age-29 : Brickell United : 82 caps/1 goal
The Lions' Left Back could very well be the most reliable player on the entire squad. Now the elder statesman on the backline after the retirement of Mohammed Khadra and Hans Lamm, he has the responsibility of guiding the younger players. Terrific form for both club and country.

Ben Turner : Age-28 : Rappor FC : 75 caps/3 goals
The other returning starter, Turner hasn't exactly lived up to his billing of being the next Cole Zenith. Many experts believe his presence in the first team is a sign of a lack of quality central defenders in the country, stating his form for both country and club are nothing noteworthy. Regardless, he keeps his position under Dilford, hoping to prove the critiques wrong.

Cris Donne : Age-22 : Porasse FC : 11 caps/0 goals
Could be the best defender in the country; the encouraging thing is his age. Continues to get significantly better season after season, earning himself a spot on the Lions' World Cup 29 squad. Led his club's resurgence this season in the Premier League.

Khalil Khasem : Age-26 : Porasse FC : 24 caps/0 goals
Has the uneviable task of replacing Hans Lamm, but has proved he could be capable of it. He works well with Donne at the domestic level, so it should be to the benefit of the Lions that they are starting together. Was a backup for the Lions' during their World Cup 29 campaign.

MIDFIELDERS
Jesmin Il-Mohafet : Age-23 : Aanjar FC : Uncapped
The Left Midfielder will replace Nedalia's most accomplished and legendary player of all time, Nene, and is part of Dilford's brand new midfield lineup. Had a very solid season for his underachieving club, resulting in his call up. Perhaps will never live to the expectations set before him by Nene, but his dazzling dribbling ability and pace could cause many problems for opponents.

Houdini : Age-31 : Shoreland United : 64 caps/8 goals
Never lived up to the expectations set before him after captivating the country as a teenager. Has always been solid, but his love for the flamboyant has never been equaled by his determination or motivation. Could be the most flairistic defensive midfielder in the world, but reliable he is not. Still, has enough talent to be successfully replace Nedalia's 2nd ever captain, Trent Hardman, a player who was the complete opposite of Houdini.

Culmer : Age-30 : Dorpar AC : 31 caps/1 goal
Always spectacular at the domestic level, never more than a backup at the international one. He gets his chance to prove his worth for his country, albeit a bit late in his career. Still, he is at the peak of his form, and has atleast 2 World Cups in him if he impresses here. Replaces spectacular attacking midfielder Innit Point.

Constantine : Age-31 : Shoreland United : 98 caps/19 goal
The new captain of the squad and the only surviving member of Nedalia's famed midfield. The right winger still has the pace to blow by anyone, but now possesses the maturity not found earlier in his career. His dribbling ability is 2nd to none, and his new found tenacity could catapult him into becoming a Nedalian legend.

FORWARDS
Tim James : Age-32 : Caledon Simpson (Krytenia) : 116 caps/60 goals
Nedalia's all-time leading scorer and its finest striker ever, he now is the only player featuring on the squad that is based outside the ever improving Nedalia Premier League. Superior shooting skills is sometimes countered by inconsistent form, but remains the Lions' number one option going forward. The last star remaining on the squad from Nedalia's famous '2nd Generation' (Point, Nene, Khadra, Hardman, Lamm, and James).

Jimmy Kelly : Age-28 : Captera Athletic : 48 caps/19 goals
Perhaps the NPL's most prolific striker ever, he has the record for goals scored in a single season, scoring 33 in Year Five. Last season, he hit 30 goals in only 26 appearances, with Captera coming in 2nd to Shoreland United. Has had to settle for being second option in the Lions' offense after James, but his goalscoring tally is still impressive. The ultimate goal-poacher, but is so much more.

KEY RESERVES
Julian Kassem : Age-18 : Shoreland United : Uncapped
The NPL's current Young Player of the Year, netted in 16 goals and will be James' replacement when he calls it quits. Striker out and out, has amazing pace.

Lumiere : Age-29 : Bronkstone FC : 9 caps/3 goals
Will forever be remembered for scoring the 2 goals against New Montreal States in the Lions' first ever victory in the World Cup Finals at WC29. Striker.

Hadi Nazzem : Age-24 : Captera Athletic : Uncapped
This all-purpose midfielder's versatility and passion has earned him a call-up after his fantastic season for his club.
