Well, there isn’t a lot of space for anyone to expand, but since you asked so nicely, you can have one pixel on the large map. That is, after you RP.

Renumbered former Cockbill Street to be (another) plot 4, so that there aren’t two plot 1s.

Ah, the wonders of the AO forum. You can edit your posts up to about 5 minutes after you post, for typo correction and such. As for starting new posts, you'll need to have your access to that granted by Vilita for that kinda of thing. I'll poke him later to do so.

Didn't some cartographers use South as the orientation point for their maps? Not to say I'd prefer it this way, but I seem to remember reading something about that. I think it may have said Arabic cartographers or something, I could be wrong though.

I have a quick question about the scale of the map. What is the scale? That way I can do close-up maps of specific areas.

In other words, 1 pixel = ? sq miles/km

There is no scale, really, it allows for greater RP freedom. But the way I'm doing it for the Amazing Race, is that a direct flight from Timiocato to Gabalfa (Bettia) is just short of eight hours. A comparative flight would exist between Toronto and London or New York and Vienna.

But, yeah, there's no land scale for RP freedom. Cos I have 3.9 million sq km and if there were a scale, I would be, for example, about 4 times the size of Sarzonia (on a scaled map). But on this map, I only appear slightly larger.

Bedi and I are planning an “expansion” into the territory formerly occupied by Tingitana. This “expansion” will result in an increase in claimable land (see http://www.thirdgeek.com/chmap-ao.png and http://www.thirdgeek.com/chmap-ao-beta.png maps), but Bedistan will greatly increase in size. If anyone objects to this proposal, they should do so soon.

The expansion on my part (into the remains of my old puppet, heh), BTW, is primarily for historical reasons; normally I wouldn't bother. Expect RP to be forthcoming from me regarding the event.

I was just looking at the map and have a couple of questions. Several pieces of the map are colored like they belong to a nation but have no nation listed. If they were free they would be numbered. Who do these areas belong to?

1. The Island south of Nova Roma
2. The piece of land between Vilita, Turori, and Hockey Canada
3. The island between Izistan and #6

Well, Baz, in the first post, it quite clearly says that the expansion system is being overhauled and trying to expand anywhere is prohibited from the moment.

Besides, expansion into #18, especially in the area right next to me will come under vehement opposition from my government.

AO normally grants land to nations who either have a good NSwiki article, or a decent factbook on these forums. It's also good form to RP the land takeover. Let Starblaydia, Vilita, or myself know if you need more information.

Alrighty then, Vilita must've done something, because I can reply to other people's threads now! Unfortunately, I can't start a new one of my own. If this is sufficient, I would like to have the Socialist Union placed in spot 12, south of Hockey Canada and Footbalia, southwest of Starblaydia, and northwest of the Lowland Clans.

18 is free IIRC... but I'm not sure if you'll want to (or be allowed) to take all of it

Welcome to the region, Carrar. Before you're assigned land, it is requested that you comply with the flag legislation, which asks that you choose an original flag. Since yours appears to be an exact replica of the RL flag of Scotland, as well as being quite close to the flag of The Lowland Clans (which is effectively the scottish flag with stars on the cross), it'd be helpful to change it. If you need assistance with obtaining a new flag that is representative of your nation, feel free to ask here, and I'm sure someone will be more than happy to help you whip something up

Legalese, my flag is a replica of Moldova's. Does this mean that I need to create an original flag as well?

Thank you for your help Legalese. I was wondering if you/or anyone else would be able to tell me how i upload a picture from my computer for my flag. Because i checked in my Avatar options and then clicked Edit Avatar Settings and did not find the choice there.

My Controls > Edit Avatar Settings > Upload a new image from your computer

"Your avatar must be no bigger than 110 pixels by 70 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 4 KB.
The following file types are allowed: jpeg .jpg .gif"

UM: Yes, you require an original flag too.

I'm sure somebody can whip something up for you. The best place to post your requested specs (like if you'd want to keep certain elements of the Moldovian flag, such as the colors/shield/etc.) would be here: http://www.3wideracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=120&st=0

Also, to go off-topic for a sec, moving the above linked thred (The AO Flag Creation Center) to a sticky in the regional discussion main forum might not be a bad idea, to improve visibility of it.

It totally depends on Commerce Heights, his updates tend to be irregular, but at least they get updated.
