The second year of the CFL is set to go off with 24 fewer teams thanks to the split between Chicanada and Risa-Aramour as well as possible new champion. Not to suggest that the Astur City Reds have not been a blessing to Kodiak Football since it joined the old CFU and have tore through competitions and collected a wide assortment of trophies, but maybe the challengers from the SuperCup can finally get their hands on a trophy.

SuperCup Preview
The move to the AO could do wonders for the top 12 sides in the nation, but really it stays a battle between three clubs for a title and nine clubs to avoid the drop zone.

The top clubs from last season - City, Southampton and Astur Depot - are expected to stay on top, with the Aeros expected, thanks to National Coach Clint Dempsey's recent buys, to finally capture a title.

Of course, the Capital's two glistening southside clubs stay in the matter, and many expect Depot to finally beat their rivals and get a title (of course, no one bets against City in the Cana District Tournament). City and Depot will probably end up facing off for the other AO Champions League and NSCL slot, knowing their histories and dominance since being certified by the Football Association.

At the bottom, newly-promoted Rovers and Grasslands are viewed as strong contenders for NSFA slots, which means they should avoid relegation. What does this mean for the rest? It means Finnen and former champs Mission are at the biggest risk to go down a flight and join former shining star Bishop FC in League 1.

Projected Champion - Southampton
Projected Relegations - Finnen, Mission

The Leagues Preview
League 1 will see Bishop FC and Internation - two major name clubs that are going in different directions - try to pry past Crossings FC up to the top flight. Governess Palace (of Cana now, rather than stay in Colombo) and Hull hope to use surprise promotions towards climbing to the top while County and Ashley look to stay out of the bottom.

League 2 is expected to be dominated by new clubs, with Hearts, Genoa and Heartland Town looking to ursurp Old Guard Township into the Second Divison. Other Guard squads, like AC Atens, Paradiso and Eastentown are looking relegation square in the eye.

League 3 sees a resurgent Cosmos and Southampton City leading the way, with Northland and North Cape fighting Orleans Cheifs for the final slot. Premiership Champs nearly three decades ago, Jaxx United is hoping to reverse their run of relegations for a change, but may not have the team to do so.

League 4 might be the most boring league in the whole of the CFL, with only TNS Cana being an agressive club side. Expect some very defensive clubs (and South Free State) to sneak up as well as get replaced by Derby and Inverness.

League 5's upstarts, Derby and Inverness, are already on a tear in the FA Cup and probably can look forward to missing the Champiat Cup next season. Who joins them in the next level is anyone's guess, although Messina is looking like a strong option.

Leagues 6 through 8 have a bunch of small clubs looking to pull a Derby, and Saint Eitenne, Halifax Town and New Glasgow might be the best options. Expect Ruslan Diamonds to be in the mix when it comes to the Champiat as well as the CFA Cup.

More news at midseason.
