Deep in the bowels of the Titan Dome, Hypocria’s newly constructed national stadium, FA chief Alex Scott faced the assembled media.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, The Super League is no more. In an effort to give Hypocrian football a newer, more professional feel and to encourage foreign interest and participation the Hypocrian league structure is being brought out of the dark ages. I give you, The Hyper League.”

“From next season, which will be the inaugural season of The Hyper League, we will be running a much more businesslike and media friendly operation. The major league chances are of an aesthetic nature and concern the general re-branding process. For example the top flight is now the Hyper League, the Challenger League is now H-2 and the regional divisions are now H-3 (East, Central and West). There is one chance in format and that will be the introduction of a third relegation berth in the top division and a playoff competition introduced in H-2, between the teams finishing 3rd to 6th, to decide who gets the new third promotion place.”

“In an effort to improve the standard of our league Hypocrian clubs are now able to sign players from abroad. With Hypocria now competing at international U-21 level and soon to be playing at senior level it is important to have a strong league to help create a strong national team. Hopefully this is the first step in making our nation a force on the world stage. Thank you.”

The H-League Welcomes Mariano

The Hyper League has welcomed its first foreign signing as newly promoted Kester Town confirmed the acquisition of Spruitland Under-21 international Gary Mariano from RFC Godiva. Although the transfer fee involved has not been revealed it is almost certainly a record signing for the club.

Mariano is a 19 year old right sided attacking midfield player who has 6 under-21 caps to his name and 1 goal, which came in the quarter final defeat to Starblaydia at Under-21 World Cup 16.

Kester Town manager George Burns is delighted with the signing,

“He is a really tricky player with pace to burn and he gives us great balance on that right hand side. Gary is going to scare the life out of some of those big, slow defenders.”

With Kester amongst the favourites for the drop this season Mariano may prove to be the ace up their sleeve. The fans certainly hope so.

Mixed Fortunes in Takil Cup

Hypocria’s representatives in the Takil Cup have made differing starts to the competition.

After two matches Partizan Drissa are doing the country proud after topping Group 1. Striker Alex Liberda has surely played his way into the BoF squad after hitting 8 of Partizan’s 15 goals in their two matches so far, which included an amazing 9 – 9 against Oliver City FC of Oliverry. Partizan’s 15 goals make them the tournament’s top scorers at this early stage which, in an attack dominated competition, is some accolade.

Pylos Reavers, playing their last competition as Pylos City, have not enjoyed the same fortune and are currently propping up the rest in Group 2 after losing their first two games.

Hyper League Preview

The Teams To Watch

With the inaugural Hyper League season’s big kick off first approaching we can have a look at the teams expected to be making the headlines at both ends of the table.

Title Contenders

Hypocrium City
City of Hypocrium Stadium – 62,000 capacity

Hypocria’s biggest club and the champions of the last ever Super League. Hypocrium City are financed by a mysterious benefactor known simply as Mr. Silver. As no one has ever seen Mr. Silver he is believed to be an alias for somebody who would rather remain anonymous. Rumours abound as to who is really pulling the strings at the club, with the majority believing it to be President Drax himself. Who ever their backer is, he has over the years provided the club with finance to buy some of the best players in the country. Few would bet against Hypocrium City taking the first Hyper League title.

Key Players

Andrei Shirko (Striker)

Regarded as the best natural finisher in the country. Joined three years ago from city rivals FC Hypocrium and has been the club’s top scorer in each season he has played.

Paul Blake (Central Defender)

Quite simply he is the best defender in the country. One of the few members of the first team to work his way up through the youth system. Club captain.

Pylos Reavers
The Oceanside Stadium - 50,000 capacity

The club that finished the Super League season in second place as Pylos City has undergone a re-branding process of its own. The Reavers, the nation’s second largest club, are determined to overcome the disappointment of losing last season’s championship on goal difference by bringing the inaugural Hyper League title to the south coast.

Key Players

Ricardo Kindelan (Goalkeeper)

Highly regarded goalkeeper whose record last season was unrivalled. Currently first choice for the national side.

Bora Burdali (Attacking Midfielder)

Talented midfielder with great skill and technique. Know for his trademark late runs into the box and his eye for goal.

.

FC Hypocrium
Gorman Road – 41,000 capacity

Finished just 2 points behind the top two last season and will be looking to do better in the Hyper League. Have played second fiddle to their city rivals for too long and will be looking to end the hoodoo that has seen them lose the last 6 Hypocrium city derbies.

Key Players

Anthony Adams (Central Defender)

Now 34 years of age the veteran defender has spent his entire career at FC Hypocrium. No one can time a challenge as well as Adams and this makes up for his increasing lack of pace. Club captain.

Andy Harris (Defender)

Despite being used either on the left or in the centre of defense Harris remained one of the most consistent performers in the league last season. This form won him a call up to The Baptism of Fire squad.

Partizan Drissa
The Drissa Sports Arena – 48,000 capacity

Have long been considered the best run club in the country. Partizan are now coupling their good form off the pitch with good form on the pitch and a fourth place finish last season. Finished 17 points behind the leaders last season but are expected to be in the mix this time around.

Key Players

Alex Liberda (Striker)

A forward who scored goals galore at the recent Takil Cup in Fmjphoenix. Easily Partizan’s main goal threat.

Wolfgang Dospel (Striker)

Big striker who has formed an excellent partnership with Liberda. One of the best headers of a football in the league.

Battle at the Bottom

Drissa United
The Drissa Sports Arena – 48,000 capacity

They may share a stadium with their more illustrious city rivals but they have little else in common. Finished 2 points above the drop zone last season and are gearing up for a similarly disappointing campaign.

Key Player

Marius Black (Defender)

A talented defensive utility player and U21 international who is a real asset to the club. Whether they can keep hold of him is another question as a move across the city has been strongly rumoured.

Tarsis Wonderers
Hyda Park – 20,000 capacity

At the half way point last season Tarsis looked comfortable in a mid table position. After that they dropped like a stone finishing just one place and 1 point above the relegation zone. With a third relegation berth now introduced a repeat of last season could see The Wonderers drop a division.

Key Player

Stephen Drakes (Goalkeeper)

An athletic young keeper who showed his class last season. Without him Tarsis would have conceded many more than the 44 goals they did let in.

Dornburg FC
Lowfield Road – 12,000 capacity

An unremarkable team from an unremarkable town shocked a lot of people with their triumph in the Challenger League. They are expected to find the going very tough in The Hyper League particularly as they have yet to add to their squad, preferring instead to keep faith with the players that won promotion.

Key Player

Ashley Deucher (Striker)

Top scorer in the Challenger League last season but it remains to be seen whether he can score the goals at a higher level.

Kester Town
Sickle Lane – 8,000 capacity

Little is expected of the smallest club in the top flight. But Kester Town have a shrewd manager in George Burns and have recently made a couple of important signings that could prove crucial.

Key Player

Gary Mariano (Winger)

Mariano became the first foreigner to sign for a Hypocrian club when he made a surprise move from RFC Godiva in Spruitland to the Hyper League new boys. His pace and trickery will make him a real handful.

Transfer News

With the opening day fast approaching the transfer market in Hypocria is starting to heat up.

Unsurprisingly it is the Hypocrium City who are leading the way. The champions had been looking to sign the newly capped international trio of midfielder Marcus Baxter, defender Karl Nalepka (both DLO) and fallback Chris Golla (FC Pydna) but have recently met with stiff competition for their signatures. Although Golla looks set to join the champions in the next few days, after the two clubs agreed a fee, the same can not be said of the DLO pair.

Both Pylos Reavers and FC Hypocrium have now joined the hunt for Nalepka and the centreback is remaining tightlipped about his future.

Pylos Reavers had also hoped to tempt the highly rated Baxter to The Oceanside. It now seems that both The Reavers and Hypocrium City will miss out on the international playmaker as he and his agent have recently flown out to Bettia to discuss a move to Apex League side, Sukatra Tigers.

The Reavers too have had representatives in Bettia and are close to signing left back Maelog Mumtazi from Lorshill City.

Partizan Drissa have been linked with Drissa United’s U21 international defender Marius Black but the club are believed to be unwilling to sell, particularly to their city rivals.

Kester Town have signed veteran goalkeeper Rick Shakes from Hypocrium City. Shakes, who lost his place to U21 international Alex Derevko early last season, stated that at this stage in his career he only cared about playing regularly. He will also be the club’s goalkeeping coach.

Reavers Raid Apex League

Transfer News

Pylos Reavers have strengthened their squad ahead of the inaugural Hyper League campaign with two acquisitions from Bettia’s Apex League.

The club have completed the signing of highly rated left back Maelog Mumtazi from Lorshill City for a fee, believed to be in the region of 700,000 draxals. This signing had been rumoured for a while now and was no real surprise, the second signing was much more unexpected and a real coup for the Pylos based side.

The club have official confirmed that Bettian international striker Judson York is now a Reavers player. York (25), who scored 17 goals for AFC Rendrew in a season that ended with the disappointment of relegation, was a target for a number of Bettia’s biggest clubs but instead elected to move across the border and has signed a two year deal. Reavers fans will be hoping that he will prove to be the spearhead of a Hyper League title charge.

It has not all been good news for the Reavers however. Talented, and now Hypocrian international, midfielder Roberto Braganza is a Reavers player again after completing a season long loan at RSC Joyce in Spruitland. The player was loaned out in an effort to help him find his form and set his mind straight after a string of inconsistent performances saw the local media start hounding him. After a good season in Spruitland the player, who is currently in Fmjphoenix on BoF duty, has decided his future lies away from the coast and has handed in a transfer request, courtesy of his agent.

DLO’s international midfielder Marcus Baxter has finalized his move to the Sukatra Tigers of Bettia and will join the Apex League outfit after the Baptism of Fire.

Defender Karl Nalepka remains a DLO player for the time being but for how long is anyone’s guess with Hypocrium City, FC Hypocrium and Pylos Reavers all leading the chase for his signature.

Champions Hypocrium City have been hit with a bombshell with the news that veteran striker Gordon Green will retire from football with immediate effect. Green (33) formed a deadly partnership with Andrei Shirko last season and was expected to continue to do so again this season. The striker however has elected to retire to spend more time with his family and perhaps do some work in the media.

This has left the club with a shortage of attacking options and they has been talk of a move to bring Danny West back to the club. West was sold to Sporting Mayo of Spruitland after being unable to break the Shirko/Green partnership. This move has been denied by the player himself who has said that he is very happy in Spruitland and has no intention of returning to Hypocrium City in the foreseeable future. It is rumoured that the champions are now trailing Vtorbetin striker Francesco Kmatx.

A similar situation is unfolding at Partizan Drissa. Partizan goalkeeper Andy Buffel has been advised to take an indefinite break from football by doctors after a nervous breakdown he suffered following the Takil Cup. Experts believe that conceding 31 goals in 5 games at the tournament may have been a contributory factor in his condition. What is certain is that the club is now on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.

Transfer News

With the inaugural season just days away we can confirm what are sure to be the last pre-season transfers.

Hypocrium City have added a striker to their ranks ahead of the new domestic season and Champions League campaigns. The champions have signed Vtorbetin international Francesco Kmatz from West Lofthu Pokil on a two year deal. Kmatz (21) will join up with his new side following the Baptism of Fire tournament.

Pylos Reavers have won the race to sign international defender Karl Nalepka from DLO. Nalepka, who has been an ever present in the national team since its formation, is the Pylos side’s third big signing of the pre-season.

With no offer coming in for unsettled Roberto Braganza the midfielder remains a Reavers player for the time being at least.

Partizan Drissa’s hunt for a goalkeeper is over. The club have agreed a deal with Trevor Stoley, who joins from Parkville of Druida.

Partizan have failed in their attempts to sign Under-21 international defender Marius Black from city rivals Drissa United. The club has not ruled out the possibility of a renewed bid later in the season.

The Big Kickoff

The Inaugural Hyper League is only six matches old but already it is shaping up to be a straight fight between the big two, champions Hypocrium City and their great rivals, Pylos Reavers.

It is the Reavers who lead the way at this early stage. Bettian international Judson York has been a key part of their good run. The striker marked his debut with the only goal of the game against Dynamo Rasium, in Pylos on the opening day, and has added a further five goals in the next five matches as the Reavers make an unbeaten start to the season.

The reigning champions Hypocrium City are second after a surprise defeat in Fulspar. They too have an in form striker in Vtorbetin international Francesco Kmatz. He has five goals to his name which included a hattrick in the 7 – 0 demolition of Jydon Athletic.

Newly promoted Kester Town have made a good start to the season and are sitting comfortably in mid-table. Spruitland import Gary Mariano has made an immediate impact. The winger has scored one and set up four of Kester’s eight goals.

It’s Dynamo Rasium that sit at the foot of the Hyper League table after six rounds of matches, they are the only side yet to register a win.

Half Time Report

The inaugural Hyper League season has reached the half way stage and it is the reigning national champions, Hypocrium City, who have overtaken Pylos Reavers to take a four point lead at the top of the table.

Hypocrium City had a tough month which included the Hypocrium derby and a home fixture against Pylos Reavers. They overcame both tests thanks to the good form of striker Andrei Shirko who scored the only goal of the game at FC Hypocrium and followed that up with the equaliser at home to the Reavers a week later. That takes his personal tally to 11 league goals for the season.

A couple of recent drawn games, most recently at bottom club Jydon Athletic, have seen Pylos Reavers slip behind their great rivals. Bettian international Judson York continues to impress and has scored 15 of the Reavers’ 30 league goals this season.

Another foreign import who has caught the eye of late is Druidan goalkeeper Trevor Stoley. He has been beaten just once in Partizan Drissa’s last four games.

Dynamo Rasium have found some form after an appalling start to the season, their home win over Tarsis Wonderers moved them five points above the drop zone.

It’s Jydon Athletic who prop up the rest of the table at the half way stage with just seven points from their first fifteen games.

Reavers Do The Double

Despite trailing Hypocrium City at the halfway stage and losing international midfielder Bora Burdali to Football Poghrill in Squornshelous, Pylos Reavers fought back and went into the final day fixtures with a two point lead over their rivals from the capital.

All they needed to secure the first Hyper League title was to equal Hypocrium City’s result. And they did just that with a narrow 1 – 0 win away to relegated Dornburg FC. Once again Judson York was the hero, scoring the only goal of the game. The result made Hypocrium City’s 3 – 1 home win over Thraxus Rangers largely irrelevant.

“To lift the first Hyper League trophy is a great feeling”, Reavers’ coach Alex Santoro said. “It puts us in the history books.

It has been a great domestic season for the Reavers who also lifted the President’s Cup after a 3 – 1 win in the final, once again it was Hypocrium City who finished as runners up.

President’s Cup Final

Pylos Reavers  3 – 1  Hypocrium City

How costly that early season defeat in Fulspar proved to be for Hypocrium City although it was the defeat in Pylos that caused the change at the top of the table. “They were better then us it’s that simple”, City coach Zvonimir Roeder admitted. “We played them three times and didn’t beat them once.”

Partizan Drissa finished comfortably in third but fell a long way short of the top two. Although Partizan can boast about being the only side to go to Hypocrium City and take all three points after their 1 – 0 win on matchday 26.

At the bottom of the table both Jydon Athletic and Fulspar United sacked their coaches in the run up to the season’s finale but it made no difference as they both finished in the bottom three. Dornburg FC’s slump came at just the wrong time and defeats to relegation rivals AFC Pylos and Drissa United left the promoted side firmly in the drop zone and contemplating an immediate return to H-2.

Fans of Pylos Reavers wore green and yellow for their final home game in honour of their Bettian imports who have done so well in their first season. Judson York took most of the plaudits and has become a firm fan favourite. Maelog Mumtazi’s impact may have been quieter but was no less important as he slotted effortlessly in to a back four that boasted the league’s best defensive record.

Druida

Trevor Stoley had a solid season in goal for Partizan Drissa after his move from Parkville. Helped his club to 3rd place in the league.

Spruitland

Gary Mariano’s trickery on the wing was a major factor in little Kester Town’s excellent season and has helped the Spruitland Under-21 international catch the eye of a number of Hypocria’s bigger clubs.

Vtorbetin

Francesco Kmatz started the season in fine form with 5 goals in the opening 6 games. He added a further 10 as the season progressed.

Transfer News

The season may have just finished but already the first transfer deals are underway.

Champions Pylos Reavers have confirmed the signing of midfielder Nick Caraiani from Kallia United in Krytenia as a replacement for Bora Burdali.

Partizan Drissa are on the lookout for a new midfielder as Hypocrian International Michael Powell has made the move to Krytenia, joining Mercia Bromham.

Despite steering AFC Pylos away from relegation last season caretaker boss Gregory Vidal is not expected to be given the job on a fulltime basis. National team assistant coach Matthias DiMarco is favourite for the post.

Transfer News

The Hyper League clubs have been relatively quiet in the transfer market ahead of season 2. Here are the most significant pre-season transfers.

Champions Pylos Reavers have welcomed Krytenian midfielder Nick Caraiani from Kallia United in his homeland. Caraiani, who won the Krytenia league’s Player of the Year award last season, has been signed to replace Bora Burdali who has moved to Football Pogrill in Squornshelous.

Unsettled midfielder Roberto Braganza has left the champions, he has joined FC Hypocrium on a three year deal.

The capital’s second side also confirmed the acquisition of striker Ashley Deucher from relegated Dornburg FC. Deucher was Dornburg’s top scorer last season.

Partizan Drissa have finally completed the signing of Under-21 international defender Marius Black from city rivals Drissa United.

Partizan have lost international midfielder Michael Powell to Mercia Bromham in Krytenia. They have signed another international, Luc Sinclair from DLO as a replacement.

Season 2 Underway

Six games into the new season and it’s FC Hypocrium who lead the way, ahead of champions Pylos Reavers by a single point. Roberto Braganza has found his form following his move from Reavers and has inspired his new club to an unbeaten start to their season.

The champions have not started badly but a shock defeat at newly promoted Southport has seen them overtaken at the top.

Last season’s runners-up Hypocrium City are level with their Pylos rivals after they went down to a 2 – 1 scoreline in Rasium.

This time last season Dynamo Rasium were bottom of the table but they have started very strongly and now sit in fourth, level on points with Kester Town.

Partizan Drissa have had a very slow start and are seven points below the leaders after a surprise defeat away to AFC Pylos and a 5 – 1 hammering at Hypocrium City.

The Department of Law and Order (DLO) may be paying the price of selling their best young stars as they are just a point above the drop zone.

Of the newly promoted sides Aspern FC have had by far the best start and they recent 3 – 0 home win over fellow new boys Southport lifted them to 7th.

Southport may have beaten the champions but they’ve found points harder to get from their other fixtures and consequently they are currently third from bottom.

The Suda Sharks have found the going even tougher and they prop up the rest with just 2 points from their six games.

The pre-season appointment of national team assistant coach Matthias DiMarco as the new manager of AFC Pylos has done nothing to improve the team’s form, with just 3 points from their opening games.

Champions On The Slide

With more than half the season gone champions Pylos Reavers have slipped 7 points behind leaders Hypocrium City after picking up just 5 points from their last six matches. Five of those six matches were played away from home and the Reavers suffered crucial defeats to rivals Hypocrium City (1 – 0), FC Hypocrium (1 – 0) and Dynamo Rasium (3 – 1) and they needed an injury time Judson York strike to salvage a point from the city derby against AFC Pylos.

It’s all going right at Hypocrium City with the club unbeaten since their week 3 defeat in Rasium. Their 2 – 0 over the DLO sent Zvonimir Roeder’s side 6 points clear at the top despite losing key players to Hypocria’s AOCAF squad.

It’s FC Hypocrium who are the closet challengers but while the club have done well against the top teams in the division they have struggled against the lower ranked teams. The defeat in Aspern and another 2 points dropped in Southport has seen FC’s city rivals widen the gap at the top.

Kester Town have seemingly established themselves in the top flight and are again sitting comfortably in mid-table in what is just their second season in the top tier. The club had been expected to struggle after losing first team players Bercali and Rytter (Hypocria) and Mariano (Spruitland) to their nation’s AOCAF squads.

AFC Pylos seem to finally be clicking under former national team assistant coach Matthias DiMarco. A run of six games unbeaten had lifted the club out of the drop zone before being ended by a narrow 2 – 1 defeat away to league leaders Hypocrium City.

Kester’s achievements are highlighted by the fact that the three sides promoted to the Hyper League this season fill the three relegation berths. Although with plenty of matches left and only 3 points between the bottom club and the safety zone there is still plenty to play for.

Double Delight for the Capital

Season two of the Hyper League is over and Hypocrium City, the last champions of the old Super League, have lifted the trophy for the first time. They finished just one point ahead of defending champions Pylos Reavers and three ahead of third placed FC Hypocrium. The season’s other trophy also found a home in the capital with FC Hypocrium lifting the Presiden’t Cup.

President’s Cup Final
FC Hypocrium  3 – 0  AFC Pylos

The penultimate weekend of fixtures proved to be decisive as while Hypocrium City were beating the DLO 3 – 0 their nearest rivals drew 0 – 0 in Pylos to give City top spot going into the final day. A 1 – 0 victory in Astrakhan finally wrapped up the title for Zvonimir Roeder’s side. The achievement was even more impressive due to the loss of several key players to both Hypocria’s AOCAF and Cup of Harmony squads midway through the season. The young players performed magnificently when they were called upon, in particular striker James Eagles who proved a more than able replacement for Andrei Shirko as he hit 15 goals.

Two costly draws in the their last four games effectively ended the Reavers’ chances of retaining their title. The goals of Bettian international Judson York were again a trademark of the Reavers’ season but those four defeats they suffered in the first half of the season proved to be very costly.

Drawn matches proved costly for FC Hypocrium who lost just two games all season. A revitalized Roberto Braganza, the goals of Ashley Deucher and the emergence of some excellent young players alongside the evergreen Anthony Adams helped the club to one of their best seasons in recent memory. Rafael Cicero’s side did gain some reward as they lifted the President’s Cup after a 3 – 0 win over relegated AFC Pylos in the final.

Dynamo Rasium may have fell way short of the top sides in the league but after finishing well down the league last season they can be proud of their fourth place finish. Striker Paul Dargo was the star of the show and has certainly caught the interest of some of the bigger clubs and midfielder Jamie Hamilton and left back David Venuto both made their international debuts.

After finishing third last season fans of Partizan Drissa were expecting more from their side this time around. Partizan eventually finished fifth, a massive 19 points behind the leaders. Certainly the club were not helped by the loss of their three main strikers for long spells due to international duty but that didn’t save coach Michael De Winter who was sacked following the home defeat to Thraxus Rangers on the final day.

Another coach out of work is former national team assistant Mathias DiMarco who has been fired after just one season at AFC Pylos after their relegation from the Hyper League. Unfortunately his side couldn’t being their cup form into their league games and they finished four points from safety.

The gulf between the Hyper League and Hyper League 2 was shown by the poor performances of newly promoted Suda Sharks and Southport. Both sides had been relegated long before the final day’s fixtures. H – 2 champions Aspern FC put up a better fight and eventually finished a comfortable five points above the relegation zone.

Awards

Top Scorers

1 - Judson York (Pylos Reavers), 24
2 – Andrei Shirko (Hypocrium City), 20
3 – Paul Dargo (Dynamo Rasium), 19

Player of the Season

1 - Anthony Adams (FC Hypocrium)

He may be 35 years old but the central defender has never been in better form. His leadership and defensive qualities were key in FC Hypocrium’s excellent season, a season in which they lost just two games in all competitions. Lifting the President’s Cup was a fitting end of a great personal season for the veteran.

2 – Andrei Shirko (Hypocrium City)

Despite missing a large chunk of the season due to AOCAF duty Shirko still managed to hit 20 goals as he lead his club to the title. He again proved to be one of the most dangerous players around.

3 – Paul Blake (Hypocrium City)

The inspirational club captain was an essential component of a defence that conceded just 18 goals last season.

Young Player of the Season

James Eagles (Hypocrium City)

The young striker was drafted into the first team after Shirko joined up with the national side. He scored on his first appearance of the season and didn’t look back, eventually finishing with 15 goals.

Foreign Player of the Season

Judson York (Pylos Reavers)

There is nothing that inspires fear in Hyper League defences quite like the sight of the Bettian international running at them. York once again proved a constant goal threat and, despite falling way short of his goal tally of last season, his 24 goals this time around is good enough to win him the Golden Boot to go with his second Foreign Player award.

Manager of the Season

1 – Rafael Cicero (FC Hypocrium)

Although his side finished third overall, losing just two games all season speaks volumes for the work done by Cicero at FC Hypocrium. His side also lifted the President’s Cup.

2 – Zvonimir Roeder (Hypocrium City)

A first Hyper League title at the second time of asking for Zvonimir Roeder. Although his side beat all comers in the league a mauling at the hands of Woodstock Wild of Sarzonia in the AO Champions League shows they have some way to go in international competitions.

3 – Stephen Whittaker (Dynamo Rasium)

Little was expected of Dynamo this season but Stephen Whittaker’s side confounded the critics with their eventual fourth place finish.

Foreigner Report

Bettia

Another excellent season from Bettian international striker Judson York ended with his winning both the Golden Boot and the Foreign Player of the Year awards. His Pylos Reavers’ team mate Maelog Mumtazi is never going to receive the same plaudits as the explosive striker but he still had another solid season as an essential part of the Reavers’ back line.

Druida

Only five teams conceded more goals than Partizan Drissa last season. Goalkeeper Trevor Stoley will be looking to put that fact behind him and, with his team mates, concentrate the next campaign.

Krytenia

Midfielder Nick Caraiani won over many Pylos Reavers fans with his late runs into the box, his long range shooting and his wide range of passing from the centre of midfield. He managed to score 9 goals and set up many more chances for his team mates.

Spruitland

Once again Gary Mariano’s tricky wing play was a key factor in Kester Town’s second season in the Hyper League. The right winger hit 4 goals but caused much more damage with his darting runs and pin point crossing. As Mariano’s reputation steadily increases it remains to be seen whether little Kester Town can keep hold of one of their prized assets.

Vtorbetin

Francesco Kmatz had a slightly disappointing second season at Hypocrium City. The striker’s 10 goals left him a long way short of both Andrei Shirko and James Eagles in the City attack.

Hyper League Preview

The third season of the Hyper League is fast approaching and the transfer market is in full swing.

Its all go at champions Hypocrium City who were shocked when coach Zvonimir Roeder, whose contract extension had seemed a formality, decided he needed a new challenge in his career and instead left the club. Although nothing has been confirmed rumours have circulated linked Roeder with managerial vacancies in the Lowland Clans.

The club have acted quickly and have appointed Vilitan Christian Dogbe as their new manager. Dogbe, whose résumé has been knocking about in Hypocria since he applied for the position of national coach, made his name turning Arcticala Inlet AFC into one of the most consistent teams in the Stellar Division and leading them to four successive appearances in the Vilitan Cup final before being replaced by Callum Banda. Shortly after his appointment Dogbe signed compatriot and Vilitan AOCAF midfielder Thierry Columbo from Turoki Isle and Krytenian international Kevin Keda from K-League side Aigburth Athletic.

Columbo’s replacement is highly rated Hypocrian international Alex Rytter from Kester Town, apparently without the knowledge of Town coach George Burns. The transfer prompted Burn’s resignation and caused angry demonstrations from supporters. Player-coach Rick Shakes has been put in charge of team affairs and Burns is now favourite for the vacancy with the national Under-21 side.

Alexei Lomaia, FC Pydna’s highly rated 16 year old keeper, is also on his way to Vilita (or Turori to be exact) and has joined FC Almintora in the Declasse Division. Pydna have signed defender Lincon Dinor from Stellar Division side Liguon Valley AFC.

Dynamo Rasium also had representatives in Vilita and sealed the acquisition of midfielder Vorrece Peltier from Cednia Beach AFC. The Peltier deal won the award for strangest transfer fee as instead of money Dynamo made a contribution to the Cednia Beach Zoo, two hyppos. Dynamo also managed what could turn out to be the bargain of the summer with the free transfer of Tarsis Wonderers’ keeper Stephen Drakes.

Partizan Drissa appointed former Under-21 coach Matthias Di Marco as their new manager. Di Marco had been out of work since his sacking by AFC Pylos last season. The club also secured the signature of international attacker Ashley Marshall who has extended his contract for a further season.

It’s all change at Astrakhan. The side from the industrial city of Thraxus are relocating to Hypocria’s West Island. The mining company that owns the club are relocating their centre of operations to the island to take advantage of the rich bauxite deposits found there and are taking the club with them. The club will be based in the island’s principal settlement of Coral City and will now be known as the Coral City Islanders.

The Islanders will take their Hyper League place alongside Dornburg FC, Linsk Mariners and Sarrain City, the three sides promoted from H-2.

Hyper League Season 3

After what seems like an unusually long break the third season of the Hyper League is underway and it’s perhaps no surprise to see big spending champions Hypocrium City leading the way at this early stage.

Under new Vilitan coach Christian Dogbe the champions have won five of their opening six games and new signings Columbo and Keda look to be settling in nicely.

Surprisingly it is FC Pydna who provide the closest challengers. Pydna, who finished one place above the relegation zone last season are the only undefeated side after six matches and even inflicted a shock home defeat on Hypocrium City.

New Partizan Drissa coach Matthias DiMarco was made the bookies favourite to be the first manager sacked after his first match in charge, a pre-season friendly against Ugiata Uglies of Kaze Progressa, ended in defeat. But 11 points from the first six games has answered the critics.

It has not been the easiest of starts for the other traditional title contenders. Pylos Reavers have made a slow start by their standards, losing 2 of their opening 3 games, but are only 3 points off the lead while last season’s Cup winners FC Hypocrium are a further 3 points back.

Kester Town had been one of the success stories of recent seasons but a difficult pre-season in which they lost their star player and their coach seems to have taken its toll as Kester are currently in the drop zone.

Of the promoted clubs Sarrain City have made by far the best start and currently sit in 8th place. But the gulf between the Hyper League and H - 2 has been further highlighted by the performances of the remaining promoted sides. Linsk Mariners and Dornburg FC are 15th and 16th respectivly and have not managed a single win between them.

Champions Out In Front

Perhaps money can buy success. It’s certainly done reigning H-League champions Hypocrium City no harm. The Imperials invested heavily in the summer, bringing in new players and a new coach, and after a draw in the Hypocrium derby City sit comfortably at the top, 7 points clear of their nearest rivals albeit having played a game more. Although a recent shock defeat to bottom side Dornburg has given the chasing pack hope.

Surprisingly the closest challenges to Hypocrium City’s crown are Thraxus Rangers, the side from the nation’s main industrial city. The city has never really been considered a football hotbed and notably missed out when the HFA were allocating World Cup qualifying matches but the club side is flying high thanks largely to the division’s best defensive record.

Perennial title challenges Pylos Reavers are trailing in their rivals wake, 8 points behind the leaders. Coach Alex Santoro has seemingly given up the title chase and rested several first team players for the recent trip to Drissa to keep them fully fit for action in the AO Champions League. Santoro has also expressed an
interest in bringing Partizan’s Hypocrian international attacker Ashley Marshall to the club.

At the other end of the table Dornburg FC remain bottom despite an excellent win over Hypocrium City. Dornburg have been bottom all season and are likely to stay there after dropping 7 points from safety with games rapidly running out.

Aspern FC’s run of 11 games without a win has dropped them into the relegation zone and prompted the club to change managers. Former national coach and Partizan Drissa manager Michael De Winter is the new man in charge.
