QUOTE (Lamoni @ Aug 3 2005, 09:15 PM) | (OOC: How does the away-goals rule work?) |
When two teams have tied the match over two legs - like Daii and the Wolves did:
the team who scored the most goals away from home wins. Simple.

Yeaddin Owls - Montepool Waves
The Fans packed in to the Kafra International Stadium in Nedalia looking for an exciting day as the second ever Atlantian Oceania Champions League had reached it's final showdown. After dissapointment in losing out in the final of the Nationstates Champions League, and further dissapointment in losing out to Arcticala Inlet in the Vilitan Stellar Division, the always threatening Owls of Yeaddin were looking to add a new trophy to their collection. One of the most successful coaches in Vilitan, and perhaps International Domestic history, Kenter Surf, had led his Owls to the final matchup where they would square off against the Montepool Waves, a Brittannican team from the Starblaydi league system. It was a chance for a bit of revenge and bragging rights for the Owls, who were denied their third consecutive champions league crown by one of Montepools rivals, Iskara Daii.
In a wonderful pre-match ceremony, the two teams were brought out and each player introduced individually to the crowd. To the delight of the Vilitan faitful, the Owls were first to be introduced. Head Coach Kenter Surf waived to the crowd on the North end, with his legendary coaching staff alongside. From the front to the back the players were introduced, starting with influential striker Alejandro Vantrease, who received a standing ovation. Rising striker partner Jiujia Makae received some boos from the neutral area of the stadium, where apparently there was a section of Rejistanian Karelan Monks in attendance who loathed the strikers rejection of Karelan ways. In midfield, popular midfielder Jacques Vintila led the applause, followed by Bedistans Tara Stalls and Vilitan International Daniel Oram. There was a small break in the ceremony when a streaker, reportedly from Spruitland with a bunny painted on his backside, darted accross the pitch and attempted to have a dance with Vintila. As the ceremony resumed, midfielders Aman Dedur and Christian Sanou got their introductions. Defensive duo Ade Hinds and Fmjphoenix's Gery Catilano received a warm reception, before the crowd rose even higher for Goalkeeper Delain Falcon, and remaining at full force when team captain Ricky Ezis stepped forward and posed for the line of photographers awaiting to catch the right image of the towering central defender.
For Montepool, Unsurprisingly a squad stacked with Nova Britannicans, Trefor Fortier, Dave Gooner and Alan Baize in defense, Ruper Hawksworth, Richard Smythe and Wilburforce Jones, who received an awkward reception, in midfield, and Striker David Bond. Turori's Jutar Ranaso received a loud reception, the full force of the Montepool Support and a selection of the Turorian support, with Yeaddin being one of the closest ports to Turori on the Vilitan mainland there are many ties between the two. The Stadium was deadly silent as Liverpool England's Carlos Parr was introduced for Montepool, but livened up as the duo of Starblaydian Goalkeeper Cody Joachim and captain midfielder Nelson de Montford made their way accross the stage.
After a series of photos including a heart warming scene where the two teams came together and posed with local children for the cover of an upcoming release from the "Nedalian Children Need Help Too" organization, the pitch was cleared and the teams prepared for the ultimate prize in regional club action.
ooc: Nedalia (And Bettia too) :: Great Cup, Didnt get the RP it deserved at time but as a fledgling competition in a strong region it will only continue to grow, so thanks once again for picking it up and doing a great job. Obviously this is barely the start of the RP for the finals, but I'm not going to be around for a few days. If Star is bored and wants to pick it up then he's more than welcome to, otherwise i'll have another to add on in a week or two. |
