An Offical Announcement from the Hypocrian FA

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Alex Scott and I am in charge of the Football Association of Hypocria.

Ever since our emergence as an international football nation at U21 World Cup 15 the game of football has undergone a huge boom here in Hypocria. The thought of Hypocria competing on the world stage really captured the imagination of the public. Consequently the President, himself a big football fan, has committed huge amounts of money to making Hypocria a nation that can compete at the highest level.

At present our largest stadiums are being renovated, clubs are investing in new training complexes and youth academies, new courses are being devised for our coaches and construction is well underway on a new national stadium. Admittedly this money has had to come from other areas but as His Excellency said “who exactly are those orphans going to complain to”.

But I digress. Although many pieces of this grand scheme are gradually falling into place we still lack a key component, a coach for our senior national team. With the Baptism of Fire and the World Cup qualifiers on the horizon we at the FA have agreed that finding a coach with the international know how to help us compete at this level is of paramount importance. And where better to look for such a coach than in a region that is home to some of the finest footballing nations in the world?

Consequently I am happy to announce that the post of Hypocrian national coach is officially open to foreign applicants. We can offer a very healthy salary, a house in the capital, Hypocrium and a car with driver. As well as a little place in the history books as Hypocria’s first national coach. I would ask perspective applicants to please include a brief resume with their applications and I must stress that previous international managerial experience is required.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

As the official agent of Guylain N'Dumbu-Nsungu, I would like to apply on his behalf for the vacant Managerial position of the Hypocrian National Football Team.

Guy, who is 59 years old, was a player for Starblaydia when they first entered the international stage some thirty years ago. In his playing days he won 14 International Caps and scored Six goals for his country, something for which Starblaydia is most grateful. He was also a highly-sucessful striker at Jhanna City, one of Starblaydia's foremost clubs.

After retiring from playing football, barring an appearance in a Krytenian Master's tournament for over-35s, Guy was given the reins at the Starblaydi Under-21 programme, leading them to a 3rd Place at Under-21 World Cup 5. He was immediately given the post of Manager for the senior Starblaydi side, taking us to our first World Cup Finals in three attempts. This achievement lay partly in the previous work done by the former manager Jean-Paul Georges-Ringeaux, but Guy was at the helm when Starblaydia went to World Cup 17, making the Quarter-Finals.

Guylain left employment with the Starblaydi Football Association by mutual consent after World Cup 21, where after a great qualifying performance, Starblaydia failed to win a match in the Finals. He is currently unemployed but would like to return to Internationalmanagement, and feels he would be perfect for the Hypocrian job.

Find his wiki article here.

Just to inform you that I have received you client’s application. I was most impressed with his managerial credentials, he certainly would bring a wealth of experience to the cause. He is just the calibre of candidate we are looking for.

Naturally I will have to discuss this candidacy with the senior members of the association but I think it is safe to say that this application will be approved. However we will not be reaching a decision on the vacancy itself just yet. Although I can honestly say that at this time your client is definitely the front runner.

Official Job Application

Position: Hypocria National Manager

Applicant's Name: Christian Dogbe

Nationality: The Tropics of Vilita

Age: 43

Past Coaching Positions Held:

Vilita National Under-21 Team
Arcticala Inlet AFC (Vilitan Stellar Division)

Information:

For Ten seasons, Christian Dogbe was the manager of Arcticala Inlet AFC. Originally signed as a winger after being a regular in the Vilitan National Team when they were first starting off in International Competition, Dogbe single-handedly transformed Arcticala Inlet into a top contender in Vilita. Dogbe joined Arcticala Inlet just after the team had finished a dismal 10th place in the league during Season 6, recording 7 wins in 26 games. In Dogbe's first season in charge, Arcticala Inlet recorded a team record 15 wins and surprised all of Vilita when they finished 3rd in the Stellar Division, behind the two most successful teams in the history of Vilita, Yeaddin Owls AFC and Marine Coast United. The following season, in addition to a top 4 finish in the league, Dogbe lead Arcticala Inlet the Vilitan Cup for the first time in club history. Arcticala Inlet would go on to finish in the top 3 in the league in 6 of the next 7 seasons, including twice finishing as runners up to the Yeaddin Owls, the champions of the International Champions League. Dogbe's greatest triumphs continued in the Vilitan Cup however, where he led his team to four consecutive appearances in the final, a feat that has yet to be duplicated by any club.

Throughout his career so far, Dogbe has managed over 382 matches, and has been victories in over half, 203 games, with a further 88 draws, meaning some 75% unbeaten rate.

Just to confirm that your application has been received and approved. Your record is certainly one to envy, 203 wins in 382 matches is impressive in any league, particularly in one as tough as Vilita. I also found your record in cup competitions of particular interest.

At present no date has been set for any official announcement concerning the vacancy as first we would prefer to compile a slightly longer short list. But I can inform you that you are officially on that short list.

The day of the World Cup Final will also be the deadline for all applications.

No applications will be accepted after this date. Unless you happen to be the coach of the recently crowned world champions in which case we may make an exception. wink.gif

Are there any more perspective applicants out there?

Any former national coaches who feel they were harshly sacked and want to get one over their former employers? Any reputations they may need patching up? Or perhaps someone who just wants to get away for a time while that whole issue with the dead hooker settles down.

New applications will be received up until the day of the World Cup Final.

Despite setting the day of the World Cup final as a deadline for applications the FA have now announced that no new applications will be accepted. And although nothing official has been said it seems that the FA has found its man. One insider told us:-

QUOTE
As no new applicants had been received for a while the decision was made to bring the deadline forward.  It was largely a moot point anyway as I think the top brass have already made their decision on the vacancy.

It would seem that soon we will all know the identity of the man who will be leading Hypocria, as the nation takes its first steps onto the senior international stage.

Alex Scott, head of Hypocria’a Football Association, strode into the office and throw down two pieces of paper.

“Okay Jenkins. It’s time we got the ball rolling on this. The public want to know who we’ve chosen, although if I ever find the guy that leaked that information I’ll ring his scrawny neck.”

Jenkins went quite pale.

Scott didn’t notice.

“I need you to fax these messages for me. The quicker we get this sorted the quicker I can get home and watch the Under-21 game.”

“Yes sir.”

I am happy to be able to officially offer your client the position of National Coach on a four year contract.  After long discussion and deliberation we feel that your client embodies all the parameters we originally laid out and believe he is the ideal man to steer Hypocria through its first international tournaments.

If your client has any particular personnel he would perhaps like added to our national team coaching staff please inform me and I will make all the necessary arrangements.

Alex Scott

I would like to thank you for your application but unfortunately we feel you are not quite what we are looking for at this time.  Although your record at domestic level is truly impressive we felt you lacked the international managerial experience we were particularly looking for.

On a personal note I would like to wish you every success in the future.

Alex Scott

"Read it out again!"

"I am happy to be able to officially offer your client the position of National Coach on a four year contract." His agent had almost memorised the words by now.

"I'm go-ing back! I'm go-ing back!" Guy danced around the room, "I'm Go-Ing! Guylain's go-ing back!"

The sooner the better, too. His agent didn't say.

We can now go to FA Headquarters for an announcement.

QUOTE
Ladies and Gentlemen I am pleased to announce the appointment of Guylain N'Dumbu-Nsungu as the first National Coach of Hypocria.

Mr. N’Dumbu-Nsungu has an excellent pedigree having coached his native Starblaydia at both Under-21 and Senior international level which included a third place finish at U21 World Cup 5 and a quarter final place at World Cup 17.

I have spoken to Mr. N’Dumbu-Nsungu and he is happy, deliriously happy in fact, at this opportunity and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

He has agreed a four year deal which will include, at this time, the pre World Cup 23 Baptism of Fire competition and of course the following qualifying matches.

We are confident we have the right man at the helm and we can look to the future was a strong sense of, erm, confidence.

Thank You.

They should have chosen the Vilitan guy.

Starblaydia?  Aren’t they the guys that fluked a victory over us in the U21’s a few days ago?

Guylain N’Dumbo-What?

Under-21 World Cup 5?  World Cup 17?  How old is this guy?

QUOTE
Why did he use all those small paragraphs in that speech when one longer one would have been acceptable?
