"Well, Bill, the Falcons have been drawn into Group C with other relative newcomers Pedriana and Wapahkoneta. We've just got word that Wapahkoneta has indeed held on and defeated Pedriana, 5-3."

"This Konetan team looks to have the edge over the other 2 teams in the group in terms of power hitting, but Aquiliana has many great hitters for average, and also many young, talented pitchers. Of course, no one can forget the star catcher, Dibos "Pingu" Ferulas."

The Roster (Bats/Throws):

"Hello everyone, and welcome to the JMC Oval in Avid-Diord, Krytenia. You're watching AOlympic Baseball, between Abattoir and Chacor. Now, let's view the batting order and defensive lineups.

Chacor
CODE
              CF  Brian Mcclinton

LF  Mark Ashburn                 RF   John Lebel

SS  Arthur Holston      2B  Benjamin Weller

               P  Jonathan Beaudry

3B   Marvin Sessions               1B  Walter Britt

                 C  Nathan Kaye

And Abattoir's Shortstop will step up to bat first. Beaudry delivers... and it's outside for a ball. Beaudry plays for the Al-Johari Jaguars in Liverpool England, who of course won the inaugural season there... And the second pitch is wide as well. Two balls, no strikes. Alongside me, Shawn Owens in the commentary studio, Howard Cordova, coach of Beaudry at the Jaguars. So, Coach, what can you tell us about him?

Well, Jonathan's a great pitcher. Started most of our games last season, and only had seven wild pitches in 33 games in the regular season and playoffs. Gave up only four homers, he's a great player.

And pitch three is wide but te batter swings at it and it's a strike.

Great pitch right there, went for the splitfinger down below the zone but the batter chased it."

"And entering the bottom of the inning, up to bat first is left fielder Mark Ashburn. And the pitch...

Great slider there, Shawn. Hit the edge of the strike zone, Ashburn stood no chance.

Of course, Ashburn plays for the Bede Silencers in Liverpool England, as do most other players in the Chacor team he plays in Liverpool England, and Bede were the team Al-Johari beat to claim the league, a 6-3 win wrapping things up in the final playoff series. And the pitch... Ashburn connects, and it's a fly ball out to right.... and the right fielder tries to get there... it's bounced off the wall, and out of the fielder's reach... the centre fielder is there to collect it but that's a great bit of hitting, and Ashburn is into third base with a triple."

"Yes, Shawn great bit of work there, and he should easily score on a sac-fly.

Of course, Mark Ashburn hitting 5 RBI's in Game 5 against Al Johari in the Liverpool England league finals, a bases-clearing triple with the bases full and a two-run homer, Al-Johari would however still go on to win that one 12-10 in the 14th inning with a two run homer... Nathan Kaye, catcher, steps up to the plate.

The pitch.... Kaye hits it low back towards the mound, and he should be thrown out at first, and he is."

"And we've some action in the bullpen for Chacor, Johnny Sheffield warming up. Looking at his stats for Bede last year, 14 appearances, 5 wins three losses, no saves... 32 SOs, quite respectable stats. Now, big hitter Ben Weller, second baseman, at bat. And ball low and away... a wild pitch! The Abattoir defence scrambles, and Mark Ashburn's tagging from third! And the run scores! And Abattoir really have only bad pitching to blame there...."

We fast-forward to top of the ninth inning.

CHC 7

"We've got runners on second and third for Abattoir in the top of the ninth here, with Abattoir trailing they need these two runs to score on a base hit, or it could be all over. We can confirm that the pitcher who pitched the first out was Roger Stott, his stats for Orean Shockers in Liverpool England last year 10 appearances, 3 wins, 3 losses, 3 saves, 14 strikeouts. And he's going to walk the next batter, I'm sure... and that he does. Now, here's where we stand. Abattoir have one out and trail by one, with the bases crammed. They need to score one run to tie, something achievable with a base hit. However, if Chacor get the double-play, they've lost. Here comes Stott's pitch... and strike one with the curve!

Shawn, this guy throws a great curve. We met them last season in the quarterfinal round of the league, and although we whitewashed them in three games he did give us a scare in Game 3.

And here comes the second pitch... ground ball to the left side... Sessions gets the ball, tags out the runner from second, can he get the double-play? Throws to second... and gets the runner from first by an inch! Great play! John Sheffield will pick up the win with Roger Stott getting the save. So, after eight and a half innings, the final score Abattoir 6 Chacor 7."
