High-ranked officers have confirmed recently broadcasted reports, that “a small number” of nuclear weapons, bought from Lamoni still are in tact.
The Lamonian constructor have destroyed the weapons after Starblaydia and Abattoir have put them under massive pressure. The nukes bought by the Omsec-Government have been destroyed, obviously via an electronic signal submitted thru satellites, without making the nuclear heads explode.
Researching teams found out, that (a yet unknown) number of these nukes were moved into secret bunkers located deeply in the Latin Alp’s, where the satellite signals containing the self-destruction command couldn’t reach their targets under tons of massive granite rocks.
Roger Omsec and his generals have destroyed most of the documents before the end of the war. That makes things difficult for the historical research commission to find out what then happened to the nuclear strikes. Were the self-destruction devices removed ? We don’t know. But it is highly possible, that Omsec’s scientists have at least tried to do it.
The international community – especially Starblaydia and Abattoir have no face the fact that these weapons might still exist and that they maybe ready for use.
Of course, the official institutions of the after-war Latao try to keep these things hidden and don’t want to talk too much about it.
OCC: Before you guys say again this is “god-modding” or any other unreal crap -- the idea came to me, after watching a documentary on the swiss alps and its military fortresses built during WWII and the cold war. I really think that these huge mountains block any electronic waved signal as you are getting difficulties using a cel phone in these areas. |

OOC: I'll go along with it for now, but it all depends on the reaction from the other nations. I personally have no problems with hidden nukes. We'll see how the others take it.
Statement Release from Dewars Strand, Nedalia's Foreign Minister:
It is disturbing to us that one of our least favored men and his personnel have managed to hide nuclear weapons from the international community, weapons that are still in very dangerous hands. It is naive to assume that Osmec is now void of any supporters, and the information on these weapons have surely been passed down. What is especially of concern to us is our relationship, or lack thereof, with the ousted President. Osmec was a man hated by Nedalia, a hatred reciprocated by him towards our country. We need not go back to our recent history and relive the events of the Battle of the Southern Islands, as it has been called here.
We urge the countries who are currently in charge of Latao's security, and occupation, to put a quick end to this mess. Kafra, our capital city, was the site of the first talks between the delegations about the war, and it will be the site again for the second round. If the Osmec supporters do indeed have the capabilities to fire off these weapons, that poses a great danger to us. |

Latao’s foreign minister Nadia Pumia – the only minister who was allowed to keep her office after Omsec was gone – Starblaydi chauvinists sometimes name her “the bird” – called for an unscheduled NEC-session when the telegram from Lamoni was received. The NEC-councilors wasn’t that pleased, since the official Latao is on summer break until August 16h, but the issue seems to demand some notification.
N: Franz, the Lamonians seem to found out that we still have some nuclear rockets, Omsec has bought from them.
F: (silent)……I understand.
N: They ask for permission to send a scientists team here to “search for the weapons and to deactivate them”.
F: hmh…I see First, we should find out how much they know…show me the telegram please….
Well, there is not much of a possibility to refuse cooperation, but you know, we can’t let them walk around free here…
N: Probably not. Especially as the…material was legally purchased from President Stone, who is still in office, under the eyes of the international community. They must respect the sovereignty of our state.
F: We might have no other choice than to grant their application, since I don’t think they would accept a NO and try it in some other, illegal way. But on the other hand, I don’t think President Stone is going to take the issue to the Regional Council or AORDO, as he was the seller of these military devices.
After intensive discussions, the following telegram was sent back to the Free Republic:
CODE | Appreciated Leaders of the Free Republic of Lamoni
Thank you for your care of the safety and health of the Latao people and their nation. However, we do not think that there is a risk or a threat to someone, including the free Republic of Lamoni, as your technicians and scientists have deactivated said nukes during the Latao-Starblaydia-Conflict; that is at least what we were told. As walking thru the wide territory of Latao and its wild outback maybe dangerous, we are willing to support your team of two or three specialists with local rangers who are familiar with the countryside, the deep canyons and the wild animals living there. To assist your experts best, we need to know the locations you wish to inspect. Please note, that due to a lack of personnel, the expedition can not start before the Kafra 2005 talks.
Sincerely Ms Nadia Pumia Secretary of foreign Affairs of the National Executive Committee of the Confederacy of Latao

We will see if the accept the answer or wish to provide us with further information. And for you: Go to the archive library and burn any documents u find.

The official line of Starblaydia has been, and will be fore the foreseeable future, that nations such as the Confederacy of Latao should not possess weapons of mass destruction of any type. We would also take this oppurtunity to remind the Confederacy that their aggressive nature of the past while possessing said weapons led them to receive the consequences of such nature.
The Starblaydi people applaud the Free Republic's obvious desire and welcome their actions to correct their initial mistake of providing such weapons to the Confederacy in the first instance.
May peace prevail.
On behalf of the Lord-Protector of Starblaydia, Lord Ricardo Gomez, Minister of Communucations, Protectorate of Starblaydia. |

As the official research team landed in Latao, they were met by some Latin dignitaries. The head of the research group, Thomas Smith, wanted to see all Latin documents relating to nuclear weapons, and told the highest ranking Latin dignitary so. The deception plan was working, thus far.
-In another part of Latao-
The special forces units had made it to Latao after being dropped off by submarines just outside of Latao. They were carrying Latin weapons; but they were hoping that they wouldn't need to use them. The ten groups of five seperated, and started their long trek for the Latin mountains, determined to see if Latao really did have any nuclear weapons left. |

OCC: This is god-modding now. Latao spends 28 % of its budget to law & order, which includes state border protection services. When needed, these troops maybe assitsted by the regular military, which is 7 % of the budget. That's cumulated 35 % or around 5.5 trillion(?) Latinums(!) spent on these tasks. With the current rate of the Latinum of $2.0093 or the incredible amount of 484.8663 rushanas... Not only that Lamoni spends less on law & order (21 %) currency-corrected my budget for "homeland safety" still is more than 100 times higher than yours.... And the consider the fact, Latao is still surround by enemy armies...
So, you think u can just walk in here with a few guys at a sunday walk ? Your punks would probably be captured in just a few days latest...
I'm gonna write a deplomatic post tomorrow |

To be honestly, after reading your NS-Statistics, I have to stay, Lamoni’s actually the biggest damn god-modder in here
Your economy is IMPLODED, your people’s nearly income is not even USD 70, that’s probably less than Iraq or North Korea…you guys can be luckily if you got something to eat
And you wanna be a nuclear power, developing and even trading these devices ? with a large military, that is active even in foreign countries ? Ahh, a good laugh.
11 % for social welfare…hmh, for comparasion: Switzerland spends 13 % on that…11 % of a currency that’s not even worth the paper it is printed on still is nothing…same applies to the 16 % of your defence budget…
How do u want to finance all that ? your nation is bank-rubbed, man!
In fact, u’d need so many credits from rich countries like mine that Lamoni is a province of Latao, owned by some bank ;-) Forcing your will on foreign nations using military tools is absolutely no option to you my friend :-) |

Well, I shall accept it, as you are my RP-partners. But fact is, all your actions lack a real base...your bankrubbed, your hungry and you might not even have warm water on the toilet, but that opens new possibilities for our relations, though its unreal to buy nuclear weapons from like Iraq, except DPRK...but are you a state like Kim Il Sung's Korea ? |

After hosting several internal and external discussions with all involved parties, the Latao leadership decided to send to the following message to the Free Republic of Lamoni, a bankrupted nation that plays an important role in the region for reasons only the gods know…
CODE | Mr. Matt Stone President of the Free Republic of Lamoni
Appreciated Mister President Thank you for your support and your friendship with the nation and the folk of Latao. Your men are welcome and assisted with all comfort they wish for.
Still it is my responsibility to inform you about talks with the occupation power Starblaydia. These talks have shown, that the Protectorate of Starblaydia is not willing to remove its – still unfriendly minded – forces from areas near Latao. I therefore, have to inform you, this is an unsatisfying situation to us, as the safety and freedom of the Confederacy of Latao and its people can not be guaranteed under these circumstances. The Confederacy is willing to support the Lamonian experts and the international community, including Nedalia that has shown a special interest in this matter to find a peaceful and satisfying solution for all parties. If the international community does not permit Latao to own nuclear weapons for protection of its homeland, we need to secure our people and our freedom on different ways, which in fact means, that we need the protection of an alliance. The Confederacy hereby asks, for the reactivation of its suspended FLMS-membership.
Kind Regards Franz von Papen President of the National Executive Committee of the Confederacy of Latao
|
After the telegram was sent, the NEC-President explained to the other NEC-members: Gentlemen and Lady…if the international community refuses us the right of self-protection and also denies us to rejoin the FLMS as a secure harbor, the only option to save our freedom and safety is to officially declare Latao as a nuclear power.

OOC: Only Lamoni, Bedi, Chacor, and Druida (I might have missed someone) remain from the FLMS. You'll want to ask all of them about getting you back into the FLMS. You know our charter, and it isn't that hard to find the FLMS article on the Wiki if you forgot, either. |

Since Starblaydia refuses to remove its armed forces from areas close to Latao, which is a serious threat to the Confederacy and its people, the Latao costguard is now increasingly patroulling its waters to observe activies of the foreign forces.
Latao will not accept the illegal occupation of our oil fields in the waters of the Confederacy thru Starblaydia. |
