Welcome to the 5th edition of the Atlantian Oceania Champions League, where the best domestic clubs in the region will vie to claim the title as the best club in AO.

The draw for the Groups is set for Sunday January 15th with the first matchday to take place on Tuesday. Unlike UICA events, where the group stage is scorinated as a whole, including the knockout rounds, each matchday will be scorinated individually. Good luck to all participants!

OCC: All RPing will be done in this thread while scores will be posted on IDSN on the NS forum and linked to in this thread.

CF Traian manager Adrian Tudor was both excited and frightened at the fact that they were the only Borsolan team out of the three submitted to make the AOCL. Stuck in Group G with Krytenia's Ousevale Borough, Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's Vegai 4th Quad and the FC Segadors Bergamants of Pacitalia (which he assumed were all from fairly well-established countries in this world's footballing scene), he could barely imagine just what he'd need to put his players through in order to prepare them for these upcoming matches. He was not even aware as to who they would face off against first, meaning that more sleepless nights were surely on the way- not just for him, but for the entire association. This problem was only compounded by his high school friend, none other than the Governor-General Anton X himself, calling him personally one day during practice.

Without looking at caller ID, Mr. Tudor said, "Who might this be?" He asked this with an air of anxiety, for the draw had occurred that morning and he was still running over various scenarios in his head.

"Adrian, I bid you a good morning," the dark voice without any distinguishable Borsolan accent replied. "I do apologize in advance, for this must be very inconvenient timing; regardless, I have a question to ask." In spite of his rather modest upbringing, Anton's speech managed still to be as eloquent as anybody's in the Despotate's higher rungs; he did, however, stutter occasionally during speeches he gave to the public, indicating that he had not received any formal training in this art.

"Sir, do go ahead." Adrian was noticeably shocked about this confrontation, especially so early in the tournament.

"Do you believe your team has the right equipment?" Anton's voice was deep, monotonous, and fairly creaky as a result, but that's how he talked to everybody when he wasn't giving a speech.

"Do you want an honest answer, or do you want my polite answer in the negative with an undertone of shame?"

"You just gave an honest answer, Adrian." It was here that the idea was offered: Anton stated, "I am willing to send a million florins for your club."

His voice noticeably filled with dishonor now, Adrian said, "Sir, I don't believe I could take this."

"Adrian, don't get the wrong idea in your head - it's coming out of my own pocket, and not the government's treasury like some other public officials in this country have been known to do."

"That is not precisely why I was refusing- and do not get me wrong, that's comforting- but you only make a few million florins a year for your services to this country, and even then you blatantly refuse to take all of it. I can't let you do that to yourself for the sake of a private entertainment institution."

"Is that what they're calling sporting clubs nowadays?" Anton replied with a quick snigger. "Nevertheless, I'll let you think on this one. I note that your predecessor had left you with quite the lacking budget."

Adrian's predecessor as manager of CF Traian had led the club into a rather deep debt that the latter had only managed to get out the year before he was fired; Adrian was only finishing up his first year as manager of the club that had seen better days; with his leadership, they had managed to win the Championship, something not accomplished for 17 years. Still, despite the bonuses and the increased attendance now, the club continued in their financial woes.

"Alright, Anton. I'll... think about this unusual proposition." With that, he hung up. Normally, he wouldn't take anything from another person without having a guaranteed way to repay them anyways, but he had his doubts.

Adrian was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the antics of the Party, and on top of that was never particularly trusting of politicians in general. He thought Anton was a good man, but he was aware of the corruption that power could bring, and was also not aware if such corruption was happening to his beloved colleague; he held a strong distaste for Ioana Melinte (and so did Anton, albeit secretly and not as strongly), and was afraid of the lady and her morals. The Party did have a policy of ensuring that corruption in government would be dealt with swiftly, as aided by the opposition groups; nevertheless, he doubted such promises were always carried out.

With that in mind, he was not sure whether or not the money would purportedly come from the Governor-General's own pocket or from that of the office's accounts.

And then he realized he needed to get back to practice.

Damn, he thought to himself, this Championship thing is really getting to me.

AOCL V Live Coverage, only on AirSport 1!
All the news about sport you'll watch!

So it's official; Integral are facing down Mandragora, Cednia Beach, and Royal Emberton in Group C; Associated Digital are fending off Qidade Savana, Cafundo do Juta and Arcticala Inlet in Group F. All but one of these sides is from one of the region's top world-cup winning nations, so one way or another there's glory to be found.

Integral manager Tobi Worner was reportedly "quietly confident" about the draw, but Associated Digital manager Wil Pankt could not be reached for comment, though was allegedly heard saying "We'll at least gut the Jinsayans before Cafundeu and Vilita take us down." We believe Jinsayans in this context to be a misunderstanding of the pronunciation of Jasiyun, the nationality of Qidade Savana.

So here we've got the lineup of Integral FC. Don't forget, they're playing in the Black & Green. We've also italicised the players who are expected to form what is known as the "starting 11".

Manager: Tobi Worner

Sentinels: The sentinel, or "goal keeper", is the player who is the last line of defence. He wears a different colour strip to the other players, and is permitted to use his hands.
Rarnin Hearst (Captain)
Homas Mornfod

Guardians: The guardian's role is to manage the defence of their team's half, and negate the opponent's strikers.
Graehm Fortt
Allian Brost
Timmith Chorch
Doncan Norrin
Samael Spiet
Daved Spendar
Luys Boford
Chras Hoges

Proteans: Proteans tend to adopt positions in the middle of the pitch, and contribute to attack or defence whenever needed.
Shorn Bennt
Pattrik Write
Danniol Parkar
Kyvin Smyth
Stethen Roze

Spearheads: The spearheads are the players responsible for scoring, outwitting the opponent's defence and putting us ahead
Lonni Brack
Thax Akirax
Navan Smairt

Tune in after these messages, where we'll answer the question that's been on everybody's lips: just what does "offside" mean, anyway? We have leading football expert Jimmin Tarr in, with some of the latest theories.

Strike are one of the most storied clubs in Vilitan history, and always boast a very strong, very Vilitan starting lineup. Some of the best players in Vilita history have come through the gates of the locker room of Jungle Strike FC, including Callum Banda, Inaki Soler, Ricky Ezis, Jimmy Kater, Santo Kecker and many others. It took 12 seasons before Strike would win their first Stellar Division title, then they waited until Season 18 to win again. But Jungle Strike were clearly the dominant team before the gap, winning 6 of 7 Stellar Division titles, a streak matched previously only by the Yeaddin Owls. Strike did the double twice in that time period, and even pulled off the 'Triple' winning the Stellar Division, Vilitan Cup and Tropical Trophy all in Season 20/21.

Strike have been to the knockout stages of all the great International Competitions they have entered, but never followed through with a championship, last being eliminated in the Semi-Finals of Champions League 8. Strike were strong performers in the Inaugural Atlantian Oceania Champions League competition, knocking off Jhanna United and Spraatan Tigers en-route to an appearance in the final in South Soettia where they would ultimate lose to Sarzonia's Woodstock Wild. After missing out on an invitation to AOCL II, Strike returned for AOCL III and once again shone brightly. Unfortunately, another fine international run would end in the Semi-Final stage at the hands of Starblaydi powerhouse Iskara Daii, who would go on to lose in the championship match.

Given the downslide of Krytenian club Caledon Simpson, AOCL III champions, Strike are undeniably the most successful AOCL team among the AOCL V entrants. While none of the players on the current Strike roster were around for the Venom's previous AOCL championship attempts, they will hope to learn from their coaches and boosters who were there about the experience, and use it as a motivating factor to gain an advantage over the opposition. Riding on the back of an incredibly successful V-League 27 season, and in preparation for the AOCL V, Jungle Strike FC made a couple of new signings. First, Strike made Vilita National headlines be coercing Jomur Hulyer, a Yeaddin Academy trainee and midfielder who committed to Marine Coast United despite their relegation after Season 26, to switch allegiances down the coast to Lonngeylin, even after helping Marine Coast rebound with promotion back to the Stellar Division in Season 27. Hulyer, while not the first, may certainly be the fastest player in history to represent each of the 'Big 3' in Vilitan Sports; Yeaddin, Marine Coast and Strike.

While Strike are not the winningest club in Stellar Division history, they are the most consistent. Strike have never finished below 6th in the Stellar Division table throughout 27 seasons of competition, the only team that has finished in the top half of the Stellar Division table in every season of its existence. Led by the clubs all-time youngest player, future Vilitan starlet Yves Gadois, and supported by a plethora of current Vilitan National Team players, the Strike squad will be tough to beat, and looking to complete a triple salvo for the first time in club history by taking home the AOCL title.

Cednia Beach AFC are one of the founding members of the Stellar Division and one of the few teams who has competed in the Stellar Division for every season of its existence, having never finished below 11th. Cednia Beach are the only Turorian team to ever win the Stellar Division Championship, having done so multiple times. The clubs all-time top player was Goalkeeper Milauo Slietah who made nearly 600 Stellar Division appearances for the club. Slietah is also notable as being thehttp://nswiki.net/index.php?title=Milauo_Slietah, for the Turori National Team against Starblaydia, and having been elected into the World Cup Hall of Fame. Slietah, along with fellow Turorian Marlian Hunial, helped form Cednia Beach AFC for the inagural Stellar Division season.

The Coconut Kickers are making their second Atlantian Oceania Champions League appearance, but first since the inaugural edition of the competition, with no Turorian representative being sent for editions 2-4. After winning their second V-League champions in Season 26 to the delight of the entire nation of Turori, who had no National Team competing at the time, Cednia Beach outperformed all expectations as a first-time entrant into the UICA Champions Cup, qualifying for the group stage and then advancing from the group stage to the knockout rounds. Cednia Beach debuted internationally in NS Champions League V, along with the Yeaddin Owls and Jungle Strike FC. Cednia Beach topped their group then proceeded to win their round of 16 match up. In the Quarter Finals, they faced none other than their rivals the Yeaddin Owls and were helpless to stop the eventual tournament champions who knocked them out of the competition 4-1 on aggregate. Cednia Beach did one better in NS Champions League 7 where they made it to the semi-finals, this time, Avoiding the Owls, but instead, getting ditched 1-2 on aggregate by Iskara Daii, who would also go on to win the tournament, this time, by dispatching of the Yeaddin Owls.

Ever since, the Coconut Kickers have spent a pretty penny trying to nab talent away from the Owls, especially anyone with Turorian blood, like World Cup 20 Final goalscorer Tanner Nerni. Cednia broke the bank when they spent 4.6kT on Antonis Siazzu, an all time Vilitan League record in Season 22. However, with the Owls eliminated from International Competition, and Cednia trying to make a name for themselves, the Turorian club put all their eggs in one basket, spending 12.7kT, nearly 3 times the all-time record Vilitan transfer, to acquire the rights to 19 year starting Vilita National Team forward, and half Turorian, Kristofer Kilpter. The beach have made other signings to bolster their side for the AOCL V, including Krytenian forward Eric Tyler and Turoki Tide midfielder Rexii Tzikas, but it was the magnitude of the investment that the Turorian favorites made in a player from their rival club that has put all the attention on Kilpter, who will play his first match for the club in the AOCL group stage.

Stadium:: Cednia Beach Center (103,000)

Arcticala Inlet will participate in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League for the second time, first since AOCL I. Twice V-League champions, the Inlet have also won 7 Vilitan Cup titles, tying them with Yeaddin Owls for the most all time. Arcticala were also Declasse champions in Season 4, and have won 4 of their 8 Tropical Trophy appearances. The list of former players at Arcticala Inlet reads like a who's who of the World Cup. From Vilita's Callum Banda to Cockbill Street's Rhianna Peters or the incredible Half-Starblaydi, Half-Rejistanian super breed of Syku-Lyku Agbayani, it is no surprise that the Electricians have had their fair share of success throught the years.

The "Electricians" nick name for the club has evolved through iterations of the clubs actual name, being referred to in Starblaydi press as "Electrical Outlet" rather than "Arcticala Inlet". Fresh media caught on, and 'Electrical Outlet' got shortened to 'Electrical' which eventually led to the nickname the team possesses today. *The club had a new stadium built during World Cup 34 and won their Season 25 championship playing in the beautiful new stadium. Unfortunately, during the V-League gap between Seasons 25 and 26, the maintenance costs on the new stadium were too great for the club to pick up, and the stadium fell into moderate disrepair, so the Electricians returned to their original home, Inlet Stadium, for V-League 26 and will remain in the relatively low-capacity arena until renovations are complete at their World Class facility.

Arcticala recently competed in the UICA Globe Cup, but did not have much success, winning their first 2 rounds to qualify for the group stage before crashing out at the bottom of their group. Besides the AOCL, Arcticala previously competed in NS Champions League 7, but did not achieve the same success as the Yeaddin Owls, Strike or Cednia Beach. Arcticala have been fighting for many seasons to be mentioned in the same breath as Yeaddin and Strike when the top clubs in Vilita are mentioned. Perhaps now, with Marine Coast bouncing back and forth between Declasse and Stellar Divisions, and the 3-Time NS Champions League Finalists Yeaddin Owls being shut out of a place in the AOCL, for which they would have been the only previous AOCL champions competing, it is an opportunity for Arcticala Inlet to finally establish themselves internationally as the elite club that they have been proving to be domestically, Finishing inside the top 3 in the standings for 17 of the previous 21 Stellar Division seasons.

Manager:: Cp. Callum Banda

Highest Scoring Game:: 1-7 v. Jungle Strike FC (Season 6)

Fabresa questions Pankt’s reality-processing abilities
SAVANA—In a press conference today, manager Rikarda Fabresa laughed off a comment by Associated Digital FC manager Wil Pankt that his club would “gut” KQ Qidade Savana, looking ahead to the Falcanian club’s matchday 2 visit to stádie:qs in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League. When prompted by reporters, Fabresa proceeded to go on something of a tirade about her club’s reputation:

“[Pankt]’s new to this whole club competition thing, I think he can be excused for not knowing that twelve seasons in a row, we’ve made the last sixteen of the Champions’ Cup or the final of the Globe Cup. That’s better than Yuba United! I love saying that. We’ve been in more UICA finals than Yuba in the last twenty-five years. We’ve won more league titles than Yuba in the last twenty-five years. I don’t expect him to read a slani almanac, but to make that sort of remark without at least having a glance at the [UICA club] coëfficient ranking? That’s not a man I’d trust to tell me the time, let alone manage a football club.”

The Atlantian Oceania Champions League will be the first external test for clubs from Falcania, which have never participated in UICA competition. Due to its isolation, Falcanian football culture is markedly different from that of the rest of the world; in particular, it has unique tactical terminology. Associated Digital’s first test against conventional tactics will be a stern one, hosting Cafundelense champions EC Cafundó do Juta, followed by their visit to Paripana. The Falcanian press seem as baffled by the rest of the footballing world as the rest of the footballing world is by Falcania; one video report even claimed that Qidade Savana has a nationality.

Qidade Savana’s first AOCL match is on Wednesday against Arcticala Inlet AFC of Vilita, to be played at stádie:qs. Both Roje’das and Cafundó do Juta have an seemingly-easy route to advance from Group F should they play to their full potential, which might make their clash on the final day of group play rather less exciting than usual.

Despite having more history than Coral Cove FC, more knowledge (like knowing the shape of a soccer ball) than Integral FC and more experience (at the world cup...) than Qidade Savana, the three Vilitan League entries in the AOCL struck out in a big way on the first matchday, Kristofer Kilpter's debut goal for Cednia Beach the only tally on the board for any of the three teams.

Strike were at home at their generically named Lonngeylin Coliseum, and continued their international snide much to the dismay of fans who had thought the team turned a corner by hiring Calaesa Mitaroka prior to their outstanding V-League 27 season. After being dumped out in the first match of the UICA championships, Strike were unable to find the net against Nojikan side Coral Cove as the two sides played to a 0-0 draw. Mitaroka was without excuses following the match, knowing that it is a side they could have beaten, but cautiously optimistic, even with former UICA Champions FKM still to play.

In Turori, Cednia Beach AFC shocking went down to Falcania's Integral FC who were representing Falcania for the first time ever in international sport. The Falcanian's are sure to understand the game a little better now after watching highlights from the match. Cednia Beach made too many errors and looked nothing like the team that advanced from the group stage in the UICA Champions league, or that has finished top 2 in the Stellar Division for two straight seasons. Big new signing Kristofer Kilpter did not disappoint early, converting his first chance to the delight of the home fans, but the 1-2 defeat leaves the Coconut Kickers at the bottom of the table.

There is not much to say about Arcticala Inlet's defeat to Qidade Savana. The Electricians were outplayed and outscored by the opposite on foreign soil, and will have to improve, ensuring to take 3 points in their home matches to aid progression to the knockout stage.

It was never unexpected, really. Walkden F.C. walked off the pitch after a 2-0 to the hands of Errion Vega FK (one of Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's entrants). It was a weakened team, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway if they played their strongest. The managers shook hands in silence, while the sound of the fans roared all around them. The assistants' shook, and they both went into their different dressing rooms.

They really didn't play badly at all. In fact, a few times they outclassed their opponents and had some good chances. They lacked the finishing touch however, and their goalkeeper was on top form. Every shot Wilkinson had was either saved or went wildly off target for some reason or another. It was weird, he normally never played like that. The first half finished goalless. A deserved half time score for Walkden.

The second half. The players played just as good as they did in the first half, yet somehow worse. The Errion manager had brought on another striker and switched to a 4-3-3. That must have made a difference, because Errion were ahead 5 minutes later. The blazing shot skimmed Gibson's fingertips. Errion continued to dominate the ball, and seemed to relax more. Walkden opted for another defender, substituted Edwards, who had picked up a knock from an Errion defender, for Jayden Morgan, who slipped awkwardly into central defence. This didn't make any difference as Errion headed in another, the keeper not bothering to save that one. Wilkinson felt strange as the end approached. He was relieved to hear the full time whistle.

The dressing room was silent. The players waited for the manager to come in. When he did, they all sat in silence for another 10 minutes. Then he nodded. The players got up and left the room. All that anyone could hear was the sound of boots on concrete, clacking their way towards the team coach.

What an exciting few days it has been for Falcania.

The first matchday saw two Falcanian victories. Integral FC triumphed over Cednia Beach, the veteran Turori side whose spearhead Kilpter scored a goal in the first minute of play, only to underestimate Worner's counterattack. Special mention to Thax Akirax, who scored from a penalty twice in a row. Frankly, Integral were lucky to win their match.

Luck also favoured their rivals Associated Digital. Cafundo do Juta outclassed them in every way in the first half, scoring two goals to AD's one. However, some substitutions in the second half, not to mention some incredibly dirty play, resulted in the eventual 4-2 victory, though AD's star spearhead Colan Battes has received a two-match ban.

On the next day, Associated Digital's manager Pankt was encouraged to thoroughly eat his words. The so-called "easy side" in their group trounced a demoralised team to a 4-0 result at half time. Some rallying play resulted in Batte's replacement, Nevyl Holter, pulling one back in the last ten minutes, but really the match was sealed long before then.

However, later in the day, things really took off as an astounding match took place between Royal Emberton and Integral FC. The Krytenian side were all set to dominate, but plucky Integral were a tour de force. Clearly having learned lessons from yesterday's game, the teams played slickly; the day was clear as a bell, the sun bright and the ground cold; perfect conditions for a high-scoring game. Both sentinels struggled, with Integral's captain Rarnin Hearst finding it just as difficult as his counterpart to catch anything coming his way. However, the Integral spearheads and forward proteans battled against a tight defence, and eventually prevailed; Thax Akirax and Stethen Roze both took hattricks from the day. This is one to tell the grandkids about, folks.

(N.B. football matches don't generally score this highly.)

Most of Borsola (especially in Traian and surrounding areas) have been in rather high spirits these past two days. The first game (CF Traian against Krytenia's Ousevale Borough) resulted in a no-scoring draw, which manager Adrian Tudor considered a rather lucky game, seeing how both teams were fighting rather hard the entire time.

It was today, though, that resulted in cheers from across the north-eastern city and beyond; the country's sole team in the AOCL beat Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's Vegai 4th Quad with a 3-nil shutout, led by two goals by Ferdinand Sabau in the first half and another by Cosmin Pavel to finish off the game.

When interviewed by Univers Zero Sport Radio, Tudor said this of his squad:

QUOTE
...indeed, they are a crafty bunch; it's not me doing all the work, I just supply some guidelines to go by, and pitch in every now and then to fix some things. After that, it's merely improvisation; and while our team may appear to be rather disorganized at times, it always seems to work. It kept Ousevale on their toes and the 4th Quad under us nearly the whole game. I'm proud of this lot, and this is what lead us here in the first place. They're great working as a team.

Sitting on Goose Eggs

It was two matches in, and two defeats for Vilitan league sides Arcticala Inlet and Cednia Beach AFC. The two clubs that had performed the best of all the V-League entrants into the various UICA competitions, appeared to be letting their nerves get the best of them dropping a series of unfortunate results that puts the duo. In fact over one third of the teams involved in the AOCL had thus far scored more goals than the three Vilitan League entrants combined. Strike, the only V-League team that has recorded points so far, has just one goal in the two matches, just like winless Arcticala Inlet.

The inlet will move on to square off against Falcanian side Associated Digital FC on Matchday 3. It will be a make or break match for the electricians against a side with no international experience. Digital were rocked by Qidade Savana on Matchday 2, however, they defeated Cafundo do Juta 4-2 on the opening matchday, the same side that the Electricians could not defeat at home to put them 0-2. After the match, Cp. Callum Banda had the following to say about his teams performance:
QUOTE
I think Embarrassment is the keyword here. Of course, the way we've played so far, it is an Embarrassment - however, Embarrassment, I think is the cause. When we went into the UICA Championships, the lads were just excited to be in international competition. Now, they've been there done that. They are going and hosting local teams, their neighbors, and their neighbors have to get kitted up in these horrid change rooms at this tiny stadium. This club deserves better than this and I'll be pressing the board to continue funding the revitalization of the new stadium so that we can get out of this dump and into a modern arena.

The Cednia Beach manager had no such excuses, after his side had fallen to the Falcanian side and the Pacitalian side in the group.

QUOTE
We've got to play the Krytenian's now. Its not going to get easier. We've got to be able to win the matches. We've added some new faces, sure. They need time to gel, sure. That time was training and they've now played 180 minutes together. If they can't go out and get a result against the Krytenian side, then they aren't going to be able to go out and get results against Strike and Arcticala Inlet when the league resumes either.

Asked whether the match against Royal Emberton was a must win match:

QUOTE
No, there is no such thing as a "must win" match. We play to win them all. If we have 0 points after 3 games and someone else has 9, 3 more games can still turn the table. Yes, we've lost a couple, but its not going to change our game plan. We play to win. Thats what we do, and thats how we plan to approach the remaining matches.

Sitting joint top on 4 points, Jungle Strike FC will clash with Kagdazka and Pazhujebu side FKM. The loser will still be in good shape to qualify from the remaining three matches, however, the winner could move as many as 5 points clear of the third place team, depending on the other result. Strike's defense has looked formidable thus far in the competition, failing to concede a goal, but the lack of offense will worry the supporters. Strike, known more for its offense than its defense, will need to pressure FKM to have a chance at coming away with a result, as its less likely to maintain another clean sheet against the experienced Kagdaz side.

Another defeat for Walkden F.C. in the AOCL. A smaller defeat than last time though, only by the single goal. The players and the coaching went into the dressing room at full time feeling pretty pleased with themselves, yet also disappointed. Although the scoreline didn't reflect it, it was a pretty exciting game full of end-to-end action and a whole load of missed chances at either end. Overall, neutrals would rate it a 8.5/10.

The manager had made some major changes before the start of the game. The formation was switched to a more centralized 3-5-2, which also gave some of the usual bench warmers to start a game. Overall, there were 3 changes to the starting line-up; young keeper Owen Russell starting in place of Gibson, Scott replacing Graham and Morgan coming on for the injured Wilkinson, who had a broken foot.

The first half. Walkden F.C. played nicely in the first half. Indeed some newspapers said the first half showed us how brilliant we are at football and made Ipeland proud, confusing three-quarters of the population who didn't know we were even in the AOCL. Walkden certainly played better than their opponents, but didn't get any goals, despite having 7 shots on target. The closest of the shots came when Smith's free-kick was cleared off the line by Bueno.

Second half. A substitute came early on in the half as Bueno injured Edwards. He was replaced by Davis. After the substitute Ipeland dropped the attacking style, but had some good counter attacks, that were ultimately wasted. Walkden payed the price for the lack of goals, as SC LASFT scored in the 84th minute. Russell almost reached the shot by Lissón, but missed by millimetres. It hit the back of the net, and Lissón reeled away in celebration.

Walkden could be pleased about that performance, and should be looking to beat 2nd in the table Vulkan. Hopefully.

Group C had an uneventful day today, with two 0-0 draws. This means that Integral did not score any goals today. However, in Group F, Associated Digital lost 0-2 to Arcticala Inlet, or the "electricians" as they are popularly known. To help you further in understanding these results, as promised, here is the information we have on formations!

Integral FC adopt a 5-3-2 formation, and Associated Digital favour the 5-4-1. This means that each team fields five guardians; however, Integral field three proteans and two spearheads, whilst AD field four proteans and only one spearhead.

The implications this has on attacking strategy are vital. In principle, the Protean is the most important position, as it is the most versatile; however, this versatility demands more endurance and skill. You'll see that Associated Digital field only one spearhead; in their first victorious match, this was Colan Battes, however, Nevyl Holter took over the next two matches during Battes' ban for a full-body tackle, and things have suffered. It seems that the 5-4-1 formation puts a lot of pressure on the single spearhead. You'll note that Nevyl Holter had just as many attempts on goal in his matches as Battes did, but has had trouble matching Battes' record.

Let's compare now to Integral, who are currently top of their table. Thax Akirax and Lonni Brack have astounding chemistry; Akirax is the rockstar of the team, and who can forget his showboating after his hattrick that knocked over Danniol Parkar? However, he can get a little sloppy on the attack, and this is where the more level-headed Brack excels at backing him up. The attacking spearheads and proteans of Integral have claimed more goals than Associated Digital, so this strategy seems to be working.

CF Mandragora are Integral's main competition for the title of Group C, and it seems Tobi Worner instructed his team to "play it safe." The more attacking protean, Stethen Roze, watched today's match from the bench, in favour of the more defensive Pattrik Write. The strategy seems to have held up, and Integral weathered a fierce assault from the Pacitalian side.

However, Pankt's side put too much emphasis on the offence, and Nevyl Holter simply couldn't deliver, failing to capitalise on several "sure passes" from an aggressive protean midfield. AD could find no purchase against the Electricians, and walked off goalless and losing.

"We ain't dead yet" said Kristofer Kilpter to his Cednia Beach teammates after yet another goalless performance by Turori's top team. "6 Points, thats two games. We play both of the top teams still, and they play each other as well. Thats 6 points to be gained for us and 6 to be lost for them. Mark my words. If we win the next 3 games, we will advance. No doubt."

Kilpter's confidence was not fully echoed by some of his teammates, who questioned whether the lone draw in 3 games indicated that Cednia Beach had any chance of going through. "We can't even score a proper goal" chimed in young goalkeeper Jaqe Planst, "i'm doing all I can out there, but even when I keep a clean sheet we still haven't picked up three points. How are we supposed to advance if we can't even get 3 points when we don't concede."

The mood in the room got tense when non-international Damien Weir questioned the work ethic of new signing Eric Tyler. "Eric had a bunch of good opportunities, but he was playing against his Krytenian friends. I don't think he's put club over country yet, he seemed hesitant to pull the trigger when he knew it was his own blood on the receiving end."

Cednia Beach will start again squaring off once more against all 3 sides in the group, hoping for better results against all of them. One defeat from the remaining matches would likely spell the end of the AOCL Campaign for Cednia Beach.

.........Elsewhere.........

"Yea! Thats the way to do it!!" exclaimed Xcnaio Bansoa in the Arcticala Inlet locker room following the clubs 2-0 victory over Falcanian side Associated Digital FC in the AOCL Group Stage. "3 Points, lets take this and run with it, get into the next stage!"

"Easy now X" interrupted Rikko Rawaii, "We can't gloat too much about beating that team, they didn't even field their best player who apparently didn't realize that kicking someone in the head was not a valid way to prevent them winning a header. Those guys didn't even know which way to run at times. Not beating them would have been something to talk about. We did what we had to, we did what we should have. Now, we need to beat the top 2, lets focus on that.

3-3. Only for the lack of a defeat did the Venom lead the group. With two games to play, Strike, FKM, Coral Cove and Stonengarten all sat level on the single victory. 1 Point ahead of their foes, Strike remained the only Group B team unbeaten. The team started to worry about interference with the World Cup Qualifiers, with the entire Strike FC starting 11 being part of the Vilita National Players Pool, even young Yves Gadois had done enough to get himself invited to the training camp, and his two goals against Coral Cove FC solidified that charge.

Drawing the final two games would not be enough to ensure Strike through, though a win and a draw would likely do the trick. Especially if the win were against FKM, who surprisingly fell to their first defeat of the competition against Stonengarten on Matchday 4.

Turorian midfielder Cediici Tzatzos looked set to get a run out in Matchday 5 for the Venom who will be looking to share some of the load with the Vilitan Nationals in the squad. Tzatzos has come off the bench in each of the Venom's four matches thus far.

With Cednia Beach AFC officially eliminated after defeat to Integral FC, all Vilitan League chances in the AOCL now rested with Vilitan clubs.

In Group F, Arcticala Inlet, still trying to get their grounds issues sorted, fell to a defeat at the measly Inlet Stadium. It is the third defeat for the Inlet, second at the hands of group leaders Qidade Savana. Luckily for the Inlet, they are just two points behind Cafundo do Juta, and play both the Cafundeu side and third placed challengers Associated Digital FC of Falcania in their remaining matches.

Goalkeeper Aranora Jaded is sure to be prepared for the final matches, as he is not expected to feature heavily for the Vilita Jungle Cats National Team in the upcoming World Cup Qualifications, and was excused from National Team training camp to focus on his club performances in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League.

Integral FC are through! Having won their match against Cednia Beach by 2-1, the High League champions are through to the next round of the competition, whatever that might be.

The match itself was exciting. An anaemic Cednia Beach took a lead at 52' but Worner's boys refused to admit defeat, with Thax Akirax equalising, and a spot kick from Luys Boford in the last four minutes sealing things.

Associated Digital's run of bad luck continued, barely battling Cafundo de Juta to a 1-1 draw. Colan Battes was back on the field, but his heart clearly wasn't in it. Cafundo de Juta were by no means the better side, but once again, the Associated Digital side that turned up to play was not the one that was written down on paper. On several occasions there were wide-open holes in their defence, but Battes only capitalised once. At the other end of the field, things went from bad to worse, where an effectively-marshalled defence was let down by Charl Oates scoring an own goal.

Flags were waved today, and there was some cheering, as the news came that both our teams had qualified for the next round in the tournament.

In Group F it looked like the same crap for Associated Digital, in a different suit, as the Electricians pushed an early goal through a sleepy defence.

However, in a shock turnabout result, Associated Digital's dogged refusal to change tactics finally paid off, and critics of Colan Battes were silenced by the spearhead's 21-minute hattrick in the first half. The result was 3-1 going into half time, and a defensive emphasis ensured it stayed that way. AD go through!

Group C saw a high-scoring draw. The match was between the two teams who had already qualified; there was a jovial atmosphere on the field, and it played out almost like a friendly (a game that doesn't matter). Thax Akirax, Rarnin Hearst and Danniol Parkar all watched the game from the sidelines; Tobi Worner clearly keeping his star players fresh for their upcoming challenges.

And what upcoming challenges are these? Integral FC will be hosted by the Capitalizt SLANI, who are fielding San Solari FC. Coming, as they do, from the same general region as Qidade Savana, who gave Associated Digital a lot of trouble in group F. However, Integral have matured a lot this season, and with a host of star players in top condition, things look hopeful for the High League champions.

Associated Digital will have the pleasure of playing in familiar territory, as they face off against Valanora's Hondo FC, in their home stadium, the AD Technodrome at New Light Street. Hondo FC have a strong attacking tradition, so if Pankt's side show the defence they showed in the second half of last night's match, they may be in with a chance.

Despite the defeat to Kagdazkan side FKM on the final matchday, Jungle Strike FC backed into the AOCL knockout stages by a single point differential as the #2 seed in the group following an unlikely Coral Cove side that does have previous Atlantian Oceania Champions League experience.

Strike, however, was not the lowest point getter, on 9 points, of all the teams advancing to the knockout phase. That honor would go to the winner of Matchday 6's crucial matchup between Falcania's Associated Digital FC and Vilita's Arcticala Inlet.

In fact, Associated Digital dominated the match, showing the strength of the Falcanian football league despite their lack of knowledge about how the game is actually played, and despite having never participated in an international competition prior to Atlantian Oceania Champions League V.

The Falcanian's well and truly dominated Cp. Callum Banda's Arcticala Inlet side. Well, in fact, it was Colan Battes, missing for the first matchup between the two sides, who proved the difference maker. Batters scored a hattrick in the first half and Arcticala, who had one goal through Anthony Rojas, tried to fight back in the second half but could find no way through, knocking them out of the competition at the hands of Associated Digital who advanced on 7 points.

Now, Strike, the lone remaining club representing the Vilitan League, will advance to the Round of 16 where they will square off against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega side Errion Vega FK. Vega topped their group despite earning the same number of points in the Qualification groups as Strike, being the lowest point-getting club to top their group. In fact, Errion Vega FK were level points with the third placed team in their group, SC Lasft, but earned the top spot, and qualification to the knockout phase, due to their superior goal differential when compared to the other sides with the similar point total.

It will be the first ever meeting between Jungle Strike FC and Errion Vega FK, and Strike Calaesa Mitaroka will surely be prepared with group stage footage of the opposition, realizing how important it is not only for club, but for country and the Vilitan League in general for Strike to advance deep into the Knockout Stages, if not, to the final, in order to offset the rankings impact of the poor performances put in by Cednia Beach AFC and Arcticala Inlet earlier in the competition.

The two legged Round of 16 matchup kicks off at the Lonngeylin Coliseum before jumping just across the Cove to nearby Andossa Se Mitrin Vega to finish it off.

The First Leg of the Round of 16 is over, and things have gone better for a sporting nation.

Associated Digital were guilty of some very, very lazy play tonight. Clearly Pankt was hoping that the baying crowd of 34,000, the laser show, and heavy metal band at half time, would put the Vanorian tourists off their game. Colan Battes, who has been called "the rockstar of Falcanian Football," was clearly not giving it his all, throwing a tantrum after a controversial decision to disallow his first goal - instead he was booked for being offside. His lack of enthusiasm infected the rest of the team, and by half time, AD were 2-0 down. Pankt decided to bring off Battes, but vice-captain Nevyl Holter once again failed to deliver. Associated Digital's game plan typically pivots on their single spearhead, and the only two choices they brought in this squad were either too hotheaded or too anaemic. If AD can solve this problem, they may be able to pull one of the huge reversals of fortune that got them to 2nd in the High League, and into this tournament at all. Frankly, though, they'll be lucky to see the quarter-finals.

Integral had a very different match, however; another exciting result of 3-3. The match itself was very different; while the last game was relaxed and friendly, the fixture against San Solari was vicious. Both sides were strong, but Tobi Worner's side were often frustratingly unspirited. Perhaps Worner is regretting his decision to relax standards in the last matchday of the group stage. Either way, Integrla are still in the game, though they'll have to play much, much better than that to win the second leg. Perhaps the relocation of venue to their own Pantheon Street stadium, The High Table, will settle the score.

Venom Take Down Errion Vega in First Leg
Lonngeylin Coliseum, Lonngeylin, Vilita

Calaesa Mitaroka led his Strike FC squad onto the pitch to the roars of 100,000 screaming fans at the Lonngeylin Coliseum in Lonngeylin, Vilita. They had come from all over Vilita to watch the last Vilitan hope in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League compete in the first leg of a two-legged tie against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega rivals Errion Vega FK who had topped their own qualifying group.

It was the first meeting between the two sides historically, despite the close proximity, relatively speaking, geographically.

The match started off at a fast pace with the Venom getting on the board first through young starlet Yves Gadois in the 5th minute. It was a great solo effort that saw the forward screeching through the Vegan defense then cross-footing a simple effort that left the Errion Vega FK goalkeeper curious about what had just happened.

But the lead didn't last long as Errion Vega FK struck back quickly through the aptly assumed Center Midfielder #11 who fired a 20 yard rocket into the upper corner of Nycflala Kater's goal.

The Venom had the slight advantage in possession during the opening moments, the home crowd egging them on to get another goalscoring opportunity which they did get off a corner kick on the half hour mark. Jomur Hulyer crossed in and the effort was met cooly by Niubo Deneli who headed home to give Strike FC the lead again.

Not to be outdown, Vilita Jungle Cats captain and Strike FC defensive hero Ritopa Simafela netted one for himself on a corner kick in the 43rd minute, as the Venom began to show aerial superiority inside the box. Simafela's goal gave Strike FC a crucial 3-1 lead going into the second half.

Things would have been great for Mitaroka's side if the scoreline had stayed, but Errion Vega FK pulled one back in the second half to make the final scoreline 3-2 in favor of the Vilitan side. Its a critical development however that will have the Venom on edge as they travel to Andossa Se Mitrin Vega for the second leg, knowing that they will have to avoid defeat on foreign soil in order to advance to the Quarter Finals of the competition.

VENOM ADVANCE AFTER ASMV THRILLER
2-2 Draw in ASMV moves Strike into the Quarter Finals of AOCL

Jungle Strike FC is through to the Quarter Finals of the Atlantian Oceania Champions League after a thrilling 5-4 aggregate victory over Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's Errion Vega FK.

After a 3-2 victory at the Lonngeylin Coliseum in Lonngeylin, Vilita, Jungle Strike headed to Andossa Se Mitrin Vega for the return leg. The two sides traded goals throughout the match with Errion Vega FK seeming to be a step ahead of Strike throughout the match, certainly creating the most chances. However, Strike did what they needed to do - avoid defeat - to advance to the next stage, and did so by holding on for a 2-2 draw after a late equalizer from young Yves Gadois.

Errion Vega FK started the scoring off through their Forward #10 after 19 minutes, he had played a 1-2 with Forward #4 to see him behind the defense and of course he could make no mistake from there. Forward #4 went close himself just 2 minutes later but Vilita National Team goalkeeper Nycflala Kater was equal to that task. The Venom responded on the half hour mark through a signature run for Jomur Hulyer. Hulyer, along with his opposite-wing counterpart Relmar Winauat, really was not impressive or effective throughout the majority of the match. However, this moment of individual brilliance would prove crucial for Strike, Hulyer levelling the scores with his quality effort coming in from the wing.

Errion Vega FK started the second half right with a pair of corner kicks and ultimately re-taking the lead through Forward #4 under ten minutes into the half. Errion Vega FK continued to press throughout the remainder of the half, and for long stretches it did not look like the Venom would find a way back into the match. In the closing minutes however, a long ball over the top from Miiara Makose found Yves Gadois, who just had to flick precisely with the head to knock the ball around the outstretched arms of the Andossa Se Mitrin Vega sides' goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The youngster wheeled away in delight realizing the gravity of what he had just done, perhaps the most important goal of his career in international competition for club or country.

As the clock ran out Strike held on for the 5-4 aggregate victory seeing them through to the next stage of the competition where they will square off against Hondo FC from host country Valanora.

Strike Defensive Midfielder Retiso Buran looked poor throughout the match, perhaps suffering burnout from playing too many matches, jumping back and forth between the Atlantian Oceania Champions League and the Vilita National Team's World Cup 58 Qualifying Campaign. After the poor performance for Strike in the AOCL, Buran was left out of the Vilita side for the match against Tymason, being replaced by Tujamu Treola. As Strike move deeper into the AOCL Competition, they will have to be wary of over working the players. 8 of the 11 Strike starters have also featured in the Vilita National Team's World Cup 58 qualifying campaign this far, and all 11 participated in the National Team camp prior to the start of qualifiers.

So this is it. The Quarter-Finals are here, and Integral are through to fight for their nation.

After a stunningly tense stalemate with San Solari at the High Table, on Pantheon Street in our very own capital of New Shirley, Thax Akirax put away the winner in the 86th minute. Prior to this point, neither side's guardians were giving an inch, San Solari's defence as tight as Integral. The punishing rain did nothing to improve either side's chances, and it was only Thax Akirax's superb skill and stamina that allowed him to flummox the SLANI sentinel. The final result was a 4-3 aggregate victory for the Falcanian side. Without a doubt, this is some of the finest football this nation has ever seen.

Integral will face Borsolan side CF Traian. They came second in their group, playing well against the teams of world-cup heavyweight nations Pacitalia, Krytenia and Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, as well as claiming victory over Nojikan side Coral Cove. Here we have the starting lineup for Integral for the match:
