The First Leg of the Round of 16 is over, and things have gone better for a sporting nation.

Associated Digital were guilty of some very, very lazy play tonight. Clearly Pankt was hoping that the baying crowd of 34,000, the laser show, and heavy metal band at half time, would put the Vanorian tourists off their game. Colan Battes, who has been called "the rockstar of Falcanian Football," was clearly not giving it his all, throwing a tantrum after a controversial decision to disallow his first goal - instead he was booked for being offside. His lack of enthusiasm infected the rest of the team, and by half time, AD were 2-0 down. Pankt decided to bring off Battes, but vice-captain Nevyl Holter once again failed to deliver. Associated Digital's game plan typically pivots on their single spearhead, and the only two choices they brought in this squad were either too hotheaded or too anaemic. If AD can solve this problem, they may be able to pull one of the huge reversals of fortune that got them to 2nd in the High League, and into this tournament at all. Frankly, though, they'll be lucky to see the quarter-finals.

Integral had a very different match, however; another exciting result of 3-3. The match itself was very different; while the last game was relaxed and friendly, the fixture against San Solari was vicious. Both sides were strong, but Tobi Worner's side were often frustratingly unspirited. Perhaps Worner is regretting his decision to relax standards in the last matchday of the group stage. Either way, Integrla are still in the game, though they'll have to play much, much better than that to win the second leg. Perhaps the relocation of venue to their own Pantheon Street stadium, The High Table, will settle the score.

Venom Take Down Errion Vega in First Leg
Lonngeylin Coliseum, Lonngeylin, Vilita

Calaesa Mitaroka led his Strike FC squad onto the pitch to the roars of 100,000 screaming fans at the Lonngeylin Coliseum in Lonngeylin, Vilita. They had come from all over Vilita to watch the last Vilitan hope in the Atlantian Oceania Champions League compete in the first leg of a two-legged tie against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega rivals Errion Vega FK who had topped their own qualifying group.

It was the first meeting between the two sides historically, despite the close proximity, relatively speaking, geographically.

The match started off at a fast pace with the Venom getting on the board first through young starlet Yves Gadois in the 5th minute. It was a great solo effort that saw the forward screeching through the Vegan defense then cross-footing a simple effort that left the Errion Vega FK goalkeeper curious about what had just happened.

But the lead didn't last long as Errion Vega FK struck back quickly through the aptly assumed Center Midfielder #11 who fired a 20 yard rocket into the upper corner of Nycflala Kater's goal.

The Venom had the slight advantage in possession during the opening moments, the home crowd egging them on to get another goalscoring opportunity which they did get off a corner kick on the half hour mark. Jomur Hulyer crossed in and the effort was met cooly by Niubo Deneli who headed home to give Strike FC the lead again.

Not to be outdown, Vilita Jungle Cats captain and Strike FC defensive hero Ritopa Simafela netted one for himself on a corner kick in the 43rd minute, as the Venom began to show aerial superiority inside the box. Simafela's goal gave Strike FC a crucial 3-1 lead going into the second half.

Things would have been great for Mitaroka's side if the scoreline had stayed, but Errion Vega FK pulled one back in the second half to make the final scoreline 3-2 in favor of the Vilitan side. Its a critical development however that will have the Venom on edge as they travel to Andossa Se Mitrin Vega for the second leg, knowing that they will have to avoid defeat on foreign soil in order to advance to the Quarter Finals of the competition.

VENOM ADVANCE AFTER ASMV THRILLER
2-2 Draw in ASMV moves Strike into the Quarter Finals of AOCL

Jungle Strike FC is through to the Quarter Finals of the Atlantian Oceania Champions League after a thrilling 5-4 aggregate victory over Andossa Se Mitrin Vega's Errion Vega FK.

After a 3-2 victory at the Lonngeylin Coliseum in Lonngeylin, Vilita, Jungle Strike headed to Andossa Se Mitrin Vega for the return leg. The two sides traded goals throughout the match with Errion Vega FK seeming to be a step ahead of Strike throughout the match, certainly creating the most chances. However, Strike did what they needed to do - avoid defeat - to advance to the next stage, and did so by holding on for a 2-2 draw after a late equalizer from young Yves Gadois.

Errion Vega FK started the scoring off through their Forward #10 after 19 minutes, he had played a 1-2 with Forward #4 to see him behind the defense and of course he could make no mistake from there. Forward #4 went close himself just 2 minutes later but Vilita National Team goalkeeper Nycflala Kater was equal to that task. The Venom responded on the half hour mark through a signature run for Jomur Hulyer. Hulyer, along with his opposite-wing counterpart Relmar Winauat, really was not impressive or effective throughout the majority of the match. However, this moment of individual brilliance would prove crucial for Strike, Hulyer levelling the scores with his quality effort coming in from the wing.

Errion Vega FK started the second half right with a pair of corner kicks and ultimately re-taking the lead through Forward #4 under ten minutes into the half. Errion Vega FK continued to press throughout the remainder of the half, and for long stretches it did not look like the Venom would find a way back into the match. In the closing minutes however, a long ball over the top from Miiara Makose found Yves Gadois, who just had to flick precisely with the head to knock the ball around the outstretched arms of the Andossa Se Mitrin Vega sides' goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The youngster wheeled away in delight realizing the gravity of what he had just done, perhaps the most important goal of his career in international competition for club or country.

As the clock ran out Strike held on for the 5-4 aggregate victory seeing them through to the next stage of the competition where they will square off against Hondo FC from host country Valanora.

Strike Defensive Midfielder Retiso Buran looked poor throughout the match, perhaps suffering burnout from playing too many matches, jumping back and forth between the Atlantian Oceania Champions League and the Vilita National Team's World Cup 58 Qualifying Campaign. After the poor performance for Strike in the AOCL, Buran was left out of the Vilita side for the match against Tymason, being replaced by Tujamu Treola. As Strike move deeper into the AOCL Competition, they will have to be wary of over working the players. 8 of the 11 Strike starters have also featured in the Vilita National Team's World Cup 58 qualifying campaign this far, and all 11 participated in the National Team camp prior to the start of qualifiers.

So this is it. The Quarter-Finals are here, and Integral are through to fight for their nation.

After a stunningly tense stalemate with San Solari at the High Table, on Pantheon Street in our very own capital of New Shirley, Thax Akirax put away the winner in the 86th minute. Prior to this point, neither side's guardians were giving an inch, San Solari's defence as tight as Integral. The punishing rain did nothing to improve either side's chances, and it was only Thax Akirax's superb skill and stamina that allowed him to flummox the SLANI sentinel. The final result was a 4-3 aggregate victory for the Falcanian side. Without a doubt, this is some of the finest football this nation has ever seen.

Integral will face Borsolan side CF Traian. They came second in their group, playing well against the teams of world-cup heavyweight nations Pacitalia, Krytenia and Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, as well as claiming victory over Nojikan side Coral Cove. Here we have the starting lineup for Integral for the match:
