Professor Allez:

Let me assure you that the people of Nojika do not truly care about how you and your colleges have rated our national flag, rather we, as many other nations have expressed publically, are concerned with how this poll was conducted and on what basis the flags of Atlantian Oceania were rated. I will however applaud you for your efforts - the article was certainly an interesting read and was a very unique poll idea.

However, I must also admit that your comments about the flag of Nojika and its meaning is disgraceful. What you have claimed in your so called "research" is absolutely false and had you actually conducted any research on Nojika and its history you would have found that the meaning in the flag of Nojika is much more deep than your shallow analyzation.

Firstly, the "central mast" you referred to is actually a representation of the eight ancestries and tribes, or branches if you will, of Nojika and their coming together in peace to end their 300 years of war. Secondly, the three crescents you claimed as "radio waves", as according to your "educated guess", which was clearly very uneducated, are actually a representation of both the three centuries of war our nation withstood as well as the three regions of Nojika and their individuality with the nation.

If you are to ever make ridiculous accusations about my country and fellow citizens again, I can assure you that you will be met with much more than simple outcry and disbelief.

Sincerely,

Lieutenant Derick Muscarel

In response to the public outcry the Chancellor of Drago has just announced the Estbalishment of a Centre for International Learning, dedicated to the collection of knowledge and history for all nations in the region and out of the region and the entirtity of the NSWorld as part of his press conference announcing this statement.

"I can only be appauled that proper research was not carried out on the behalf of Professor Fernando Allez an Accademic review panel is reviewing his proffesorship, and while his statement has caused upset to the Nojikan people we can only apologise."

The sixth-best national flag in the region - according to a study coming out from Lamoni's finest minds (that's a good one) recently - that's what Starblaydia's ubiquitous black, purple and white has polled in a survey conducted based on the uniqueness of a national flag.

A tricolour with a national symbol in the middle wouldn't strike one as particularly unique, but Starblaydia's purple stripe and golden eagle is seemingly considered less unique than Bazalonia's orange stripe and black bazalope.

It seems there's no accounting for taste.

The flag of Starblaydia is a version of the coat of arms of King Oberyn, the man who united ancient Starblaydia in the first Century AD.

According to legend, King Oberyn wielded "an impressive, now mythical, sword that the Romanics knew as Fulguritus Acinace, the Lightning-struck Sabre". Known as Oberyn Starblayde, the emergence of heraldry in the Daii soon required that Oberyn defined his coat of arms. This was made, nearly two millennia later, into the official Flag of Starblaydia on August 23rd, 1946, Starblaydia's Independence Day.

The flag consists of a three horizontal stripes, coloured black (top), purple (middle) and white (bottom), with a stylised golden eagle displayed in the centre. White represented the silver colour of his armour and weapons; purple the national colour of Starblaydia symbolising his loyalty to the nationalist ideas; and black the forest of pine trees where Oberyn forged (or was given) his great sword and resulting power. The Eagle represented the Daii God of moral law and order, protector of suppliants and punisher of guilt, something which was equated with Oberyn himself. As a coat of arms, this was described thus: "Blazoned Argent, fess Purpure, chief Sable, eagle displayed Or."

Minister for Communications, Lord Ricardo Gomez, declared himself 'pleased' with Starblaydia's position in the survey, though allowed that 'uniqueness' isn't necessarily the correct way to judge a flag competition, should even such a thing exist.

In other news... the study couldn't even manage to spell the name of Starblaydia's northern neighbour Nova Britannicus correctly, so no wonder the flag is all the way down at equal-45th.
