| Dominique Domasca, still waiting to hear reports trickling in from the East Bekk War, sat patiently at her desk, writing notes on a sheet of paper. She hardly noticed the unusual cloud formation behind her... ...until the blinding white flash... She awoke on the floor of her office, her arm numb. Gingerly, she rose to her feet. "...The hell?!?!?" She left her office, and walked down the corridor, where she was met by a pair of scientists running the other way. "Madam President? You're OK!" exclaimed the first scientist, a tall, blonde man. "What just happened?" "We appear to have been affected by a fold in the space-time continuum. The entire country appears to have somehow...moved." "Moved?" "Yes," explained the second scientist, a short, stocky man with a shining bald head. "No structural damage appears to have occured, but we are no longer in southern Calania. In fact, our sources have informed us that we are now in what used to be Druida." "How can you tell?" "The countryside is peppered with rubber orange balls, ma'am." "Strange." "The strangest thing though," said the blond scientist, "is that the citizens have appeared to have aged approximately a dozen years." Dominique took a compact from her pocket, and checked her face. Sure enough, her face showed the first signs of wrinkles, and her raven hair was now flecked with grey. "I think I need a lie down", she said wearily, and promptly fainted. |
