Official Bid to Host the 61st AOCAF Cup
Nation Background Known throughout the multiverse for its majority population of sapient equines, Equestria is a diverse and advanced island nation located in southwestern Atlantian Oceania. Ruled primarily by a benevolent council of alicorn Princesses, Equestria is a constitutional monarchy in name, though the Princesses hold considerably more political power than in most constitutional monarchies and thus play an active role in the country's government. Technologically, the nation is very advanced for one that only emerged from isolation only a century ago, combining technology imported from its allies with magic to quickly modernize without the pollution seen in many countries which undergo rapid industrialization. Described by many as a pleasant utopia inhabited by a friendly and diverse population of numerous sapient species which happily welcomes foreigners, Equestria is a natural host nation with booming tourism industry and robust sports infrastructure.
Resume The user behind Equestria is one of NS Sports' more experienced hosts, having co-hosted eight WCC events, three previous AOCAF Cups, as well as numerous other smaller tournaments such as the Di Bradini Cup, World Bowl, World Baseball Classic, World Cup of Hockey, and International Basketball Championship.
Format The overall format will be simple enough, regardless of numbers: a single round robin group stage held in Equestria followed by a knockout stage.

Scorinator & RP Bonus If chosen, I will use the latest version of xkoranate with the NSFS formula and xkoranate-style (additive) style mods. The latest AOCAF rankings will be used for the tournament. RPs will be judged based on quality and creativity over quantity and frequency. Bonuses will be fairly generous to encourage active RPing by all participants and a roster bonus will also be available, as usual.

How generous is generous, re: the RP Bonus? As in, how much do you see it playing with the balance of NSFS in terms of affecting the outcomes vs. just rank?

My general rule of thumb for the AOCAF has been to set the bonus where an unranked team with a max RP bonus could realistically compete with a top 20 side by the end of the group stage. The exact values tend to vary from tournament to tournament depending on competition length and the max skill value.
In my experience this tends to produce a good balance between ranking and RP bonus, at least for the AOCAF. If you want to check the results for yourself, the ranking value I'd use for this edition would likely be closer to the one I used in AOCAFs 55 & 56 than the one used in AOCAF 59, given that I'm not planning on re-using the double round robin group stage from 59 this time around. |
