AO Forum :: > AOCAF - The AO Regional Soccer Tournament > Ainorpisp Invitational Tournament |
Posted by: Ainorpisp Sep 8 2004, 06:56 PM |
The government of Ainorpisp wishes to officially announce that our nation will be hosting a secondary invitational football (soccer) tournament. Its purpose is to further strengthen the international relations with other nations in the Atlantian Oceania region. By no means is the invitational tournament meant to compete with the much more established AOCAF, however. We simply wish to offer another chance for the international football teams to compete. Our tournament will be hosted in and around the national capitol, Sarmatia. Venues include: Golden Path National Stadium (max. capacity: 90,000) in downtown Sarmatia, Al-Zahirr Memorial Field (max. capacity: 70,000) in Everglade Villa, and Wiesbaden Dome (max. capacity: 75,000) in Wiesbaden, just 5 miles from Sarmatia. The inaugural tournament will accept between 8-12 entrants, and all interested clubs are welcome. |

All 3 Vilitan clubs are more than welcome to the Invitational, and will be added to the official field of participating teams. As more clubs enter, we will update the field until there are enough entrants to merit a beginning to the tournament. So far, the field includes: Jungle Strike FC (VIL), Marine Coast United (VIL), Yeaddin Owls (VIL), and Briseis Yeomen (AIN). |

The Ainorpisp Invitational tournament began today with the opening ceremony in the morning. This ceremony involved the raising of the flags of each of the nations whose clubs are competing in the tournament, and then the playing of the Ainorpispan national anthem. Afterwards, a military trumpeter played 'Taps' in honor of those lost in the bombing of the AOlympic buildings, in honor of all those who had been killed. Following the conclusion of the formalities, the first matches began, and the results are as follows: Isakara Daii 3, Marine Coast United 1 Briseis Yeomen 2, Yeaddin Owls 0 Moni Maanethi 1, Litvosk Avengers 0 Ho'kani Hilena'kwi 4, Cakiwiikiwa Hotewe 2 Internashionale 4, Morrow Crushers 3 Jungle Strike FC 3, Avalon United 0 Group 1 Standings W L GF GA Isakara Daii 1 0 3 1 Briseis Yeomen 1 0 2 0 Moni Maanethi 1 0 1 0 Marine Coast United 0 1 1 3 Litvosk Avengers 0 1 0 1 Yeaddin Owls 0 1 0 2 Group 2 Standings W L GF GA Ho'kani Hilena'kwi 1 0 4 2 Internashionale 1 0 4 3 Jungle Strike FC 1 0 3 0 Morrow Crushers 0 1 3 4 Cakiwiikiwa Hotewe 0 1 2 4 Avalon United 0 1 0 3 Tomorrow's Schedule: Isakara Daii VS Litvosk Briseis Yeomen VS Moni Maanethi Yeaddin Owls VS Marine Coast United Cakiwwikiwa Hotewe VS Jungle Strike FC Internashionale VS Ho'kani Hilena'kwi Morrow Crushers VS Avalon United |

Both Starblaydi Clubs off to a Flying Start Inter and The Daii help lead the way in both groups Iskara Daii Roster of Named Players (*'s denote Internationals):
Andrew Winters and Tuade Lue got the goals, Winters with a brace, that saw The Daii turn a close match into what looked like an absolute drubbing of Marine Coast United, as the 3-1 scoreline flattered The Daii somewhat. Internashionale Roster of Named Players (*'s denote Internationals):
Without resorting to puns, the Morrows were Crushed (sorry, couldn't help it) by Inter, who scored four in their seven-goal thriller. Wesekhanee (2), Haldorsson and Vikerman all got on the scoresheet to produce a great victory for the Starblaydis over the Lamonis. |

Oops, right you are! The standings of the second group should be: 1. Jungle Strike FC 2. Ho'kani Hilena'kwi 3. Internashionale 4. Morrow Crushers 5. Cakwiikiwa Hotewe 6. Avalon United Sorry for the mistake, I'll make sure to triple-check the standings before I post them next time. On a side note, I noticed that I miss-spelled Iskara Daii as Isakara Daii. I apologize for that mistake, too. |

VILITAN STELLAR: Champions - ( S1, S3 ) Runners-Up - ( S2 ) VILITAN CUP: Runners-Up - ( S2 ) TROPICAL TROPHY: Runners-Up - ( S1 ) -------------------Yeaddin Owls have consistently been one of the best teams in Vilita. However, it was a major upset when Yeaddin pipped Marine Coast United to the inagural Vilitan League Title. Marine got one over on Yeaddin though at the end of the season, when Marine out-dueled Yeaddin to the Tropical Trophy, played between the Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions at the completion of each season. Marine and Yeaddin will meet once again in the Tropical Trophy at the completion of the Melmond Invitational. Yeaddin were unable to qualify for the Trophy last season after a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Tivali City. Jonathon Stott and Nigel Chapman put the Owls 2-0 up at the half, but Tivali fought back and upset the Two-Time League champions in their only Vilitan Cup final appearance. The Owls looked ready to face Marine Coast in the Season Three Cup final, before a 2-1 second leg defeat to Cednia Beach saw Yeaddin out. ::Club Records:: LARGEST VICTORY: ( 6-0 ) v. The 6-0 Victor over Inland Peaks in Season One still stands as the most lopsided match in Vilitan History. Yeaddin were 4-0 up after just 25 minutes, before Jonathon Stott added 2 more in the last 15 minutes of the match to complete his 3-Goal Performance. It was also one of the last matches for German Salomon at the club, his 26th minute goal one of his last before his transfer to Kingsford Club Elders. The 6-0 Result has only been duplicated once since then, in Cednia Beach's 6-0 victory over Lopinka in season three. However, Cednia had the luxury of 2 Penalty Kicks in the opening 15 minutes, after Lopinka had their goalkeeper sent off. The 1-5 Defeat at Strike goes down as the second most lopsided scoreline in Stellar Division history. The Owls had taken an early lead, before Serge DuPont equalized for Strike with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half. DuPont lit up the stage in the second half, with 2 quick goals for himself, then setting up another for a teamate to put Strike ahead 4-1. The fifth goal was gifted to Strike after DuPont's shot was deflected in for a Yeaddin own goal. ::Individual Records:: MOST ALL TIME APPEARANCES: Calaesa Mitaroka - (71) - Season 1-3 ALL TIME GOALSCORER: Jan Christiansen - (48) - Season 2-3 GOALS IN A SEASON: Jan Christiansen - (30) - Season 2 YOUNGEST PLAYER Calaesa Mitaroka - (18 Years) - Season 1 OLDEST PLAYER Hazem Emam - (41 Years) - Season 2 |

Since the Formation of the Vilitan League, they have finished no worse than 2nd, and their goal differential frequently equals or exceeds their goals conceded. They missed out on the Stellar Division title in season one on the last day to Yeaddin Owls, before pipping the Owls to the title in Season Two. But Yeaddin fought back to reclaim the title in Season Three. However, Marine Coast has never been without Silverware, as since the creation of the Vilitan League system, they have twice won the Vilitan Cup, each victory coming in season that they had lost out to Yeaddin Owls in the league. Both Vilitan Cup victories came against Turori's Cednia Beach AFC. Coast have also competed in the Tropical Trophy, played at the conclusion of each season between the Champions of the League, and the Champions of the Vilitan Cup. Marine defeated Yeaddin 4-2 to win the first tropical trophy, but after leading 3-2 into the last 10 mintues, Marine collapsed against Vilitan Cup champions Tivali City when Hluali Mijatos and the now retired Manolis Lebe scored in the final 10 minutes to give the Trophy to Tivali. This years Tropical Trophy between Marine and Yeaddin will be held at the completion of the Melmond Club Invitational. ::Club Records:: LARGEST VICTORY: ( 5-0 ) v. The only 10 Minute period of the game where no goals were score was the final 10, after a Keiaon Akita goal in the 78th minute for Cednia Beach levelled the scores at 5. Cednia Beach had opened the scoring 9 Minutes in, but it took Baron O'Toole just 9 more to equalize for Marine Coast. Then it was Jim Vella putting Marine back in front another 8 minutes later. Yet another 8 minutes passed before Cednia Beach tied the match to the delight of the home support, but Baron O'Toole's second of the match from the ensuing restart quited the Cednia faithful. Mailano Mumamba would have none of that however, as he converted a beautfil free kick less than 5 minutes later to send the match level into the half. Cednia took an improbable lead 5 minutes into the half, but Jim Vella quickly set the match level at 4. It was Baron O'Toole who scored the first hat trick for Marine Coast, before Akita's late leveller launced Cednia Beach into the limelight, taking them from a Relegation threatened team, to a well supported Vilitan Cup Finalist. ::Individual Records:: MOST ALL TIME APPEARANCES: Rory Issah - (77) - Season 1-3 ALL TIME GOALSCORER: Callum Banda - (56) - Season 1-3 GOALS IN A SEASON: Jim Vella - (31) - Season 3 YOUNGEST PLAYER Malovar Stokks - (17 Years) - Season 2 OLDEST PLAYER Rikkia Mani - (40 Years) - Season 3 |

Starblaydis on Top! Daii and Inter Win the Groups Is it because they're playing just a stone's throw away from Starblaydia in nearby Ainorpisp? Who knows? Iskara Daii and Internashionale met up in the final Group Match of this Tournament, with the Daii proving their qualities yet again over the boys from Inter in a 4-2 win. Iskara Daii will now hope to bring out all the puns against the 'crushers', while Internashionale will try to shoot down the Vilitan Yeaddin Owls. Two teams in the last 16 of a tournament? We'll certainly take that. |

Two will be pitted up against each other as Santo Kecker's Strike face his former club, Marine Coast United in a grunge battle. Yeaddin Owls are fortunate to play the overperforming Internashionale who will certainly falter at this stage. |

Iskara Daii Become Champions! Starblaydi Champs beat off Vilitan Cup Winners It took Extra Time to decide the winner, but Starblaydi Champions Iskara Daii defeated the Yeaddin Owls by three goals to two. Belmorian stiker Andrew Winters scored the first, as per usual, as he received a low cross from Rejistantian Tuade Lue on the right. Winters thumped the ball home with his right foot, giving the Daii the lead after around half-an-hour. The Owls then equalised and took the lead before half-time as the Daii lost their concentration, particularly in defence, letting in one soft goal and a second wonder-goal from the Vilitan team. Iskara Daii came out for the second half with renewed vigour, with a Ceri Salisbury free-kick evading the goalkeeper's hands and drawing the Starblaydis level with most of the second half to go. Fortunately, the Daii defence held out past the ninety minutes and into injury time, will the full time score 2-2. Extra Time beckoned and, after that, penalties. The dreaded spot-kicks were no needed, however, as Rejistanian Tuade Lue, not content with making one goal, scored the winner. Here we switch to our Starblaydi commentator, Sven Motsonsson. "Carter, moving through the centre circle. Left, to Thanh Madray. Back to Willis, the Nova Britannican, still down the left. "Willis still has it, a one-two with Madray. Now he's swung it right, oh a lovely pass, Lue, racing into the box, with a shot... and a Goal! Tuade Lue with the Winner! "He brought the ball down on his chest, in acres of space, the Owls were nowhere near him. He darted into the penalty area and fired a beautiful shot across the face of goal, knocking the ball in off the inside of the post. Iskara Daii and Starblaydia go mad, as the Daii add an international Trophy to their cabinet. The final Score, Iskara Daii Three, Yeaddin Owls Two." |
