I'll fix that in an instant.

Posted by: Chacor Sep 14 2004, 01:54 AM
'Curling: Singles (2)' should be 'Luge: Singles (2)'

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 14 2004, 06:13 PM
Given what has happened to it's summer Aolympc team, the Free Republic is reticent about allowing athletes abroad unless we are satisfied with the security arrangements, and the (non) threat of war.

Then the two Druidish curlers, who really don't have the physiche for luge, will be replaced by Trevor McAdam and Jerry Trowell. (Druidish *******s!)

We assure Lamoni that Chacor will have Oddslavoran and Liverpool England security services. (The 'Disputed Territories' of Chacor is disputed between these two nations)

Ah, yes please. For now:

On Balaal we had the motto: "Good health keeps a live economy." And since we are oblivious to what foorball is...we'd like to participate in the following games:

LIST OF EVENTS

Bobsleigh:• two-man (1x2) [Bobsleigh]
- Cordobas Elvi (m/23),
- Marg Lenars (m/27)

• individual (2) [Skeleton]
- Cordobas Elvi (m/23),
- Marg Lenars (m/27)

...they have never set a time...but are willing to try this little "quattris"-like machine. Elvi: "Wow, nikki speeds! On Balaal we used to have ice tunnels connecting our underground towns, where you'd get into a big blob that would fill and slide vacumed to the ice surface. Such a "quatris" could get speeds up to 300 km/h. This feels the same...only smaller.")

[Speed Skating]:
wr = world record, nr = national record, pb = personal best

• 500m (2)
- Juhans Theform (m/22, nr/pb 34.42)
- Hilopo Top (m/26, pb 35.23)

• 1000m (2)
-Marriane Weebstra (f/21, nr/pb 1.13.96),
- Juhans Theform (m/22, nr/pb 1.07.76)

• 1500m (2)
- Marriane Weebstra (f/21, nr/pb 1.13.96),
- Jochem Uytdehaage (m/24, national champion, nr/pb 1.42.08)

• 5000m (2)
- Jochem Uytdehaage (m/24, national champion, wr/nr/pb 6.14.66)

• 10.000m (2)
- Jochem Uytdehaage (m/24, national champion, wr/nr/pb 12.58.92)
- Juhans Theform (m/22, pb 12.58.97)

Snowboarding:
• giant parallel slalom (2)

Starblaydia will be signing up some athletes for the Winter Olympic Games, just give us some time to pick our competitors.

Posted by: Ainorpisp Sep 19 2004, 11:32 AM
Due to the the events that brought an end to the first attempt at an AOlympics, and the lackluster posting of scores therein (scores were never on the day of their respective events, then stopped all together), the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp will not be sending anyone to the Winter Games.

The 'lackluster' posting was from Kry being swamped by Real-Life issues, then he left the region after some, er, disagreements.

Posted by: Ainorpisp Sep 19 2004, 08:04 PM
I can respect being swamped by Real-Life issues, so nevermind about the 'lackluster' comment. Ainorpisp will not be sending any athletes to the Winter Games due to what happened to end the first attempted Summer Games.

Posted by: Chacor Sep 20 2004, 03:28 AM
We certainly hope tha the Ainorpispian Government change their minds, but we will accept it if nations do not wish to participate after the massacre at the Summer Games.

Posted by: Chacor Sep 23 2004, 04:45 AM
We are disappointed at the number of entries for the inaugural Winter Games.

It is not a lack of confidence in the games, Chacor, but a reflection upon what Xile did to the summer games.

I'll take signups for another half month. Will get this started mid-October after exams.

The Sarzonia Blizzards

Coach: Harold Clark

ROSTER (starters in bold):
1 Brian Snow (Joe Gibbs University, Nicksia): At 6'2, 185, not the most agile goalkeeper around. Uses size and positioning to cut down most goalscoring chances. Decent puck handler. 21 years old.
30 Tim Collins (Saugerties Storm): This 26 year old just took up hockey two years ago, so Snow is the more experienced keeper. Is poor at puckhandling. At 5'9, 165, uses the butterfly style and his agility to stop shots.

DEFENSEMEN:
2 Bill Langham (Woodstock Seawolves): Team captain. This 28 year old has the most hockey experience of any Blizzards player. Has the best plus-minus in the history of Woodstock City College (plus-32). Known more for savvy than speed, but he's a very hard hitter.
4 Kevin Dewey (Nicksia Hawks): Known as a great offensive defenseman. Led his amateur league in goals by a defenseman with 12 in 30 games. 24 years old.
10 Brandon Yancey (Portland Pirates): The fastest defender in Sarzonia, he sometimes takes his ability to chase the play from behind for granted and doesn't position well enough for Coach Clark. 22 years old.
12 Ben Johansson (New Isselmere University, New Daurmont): Rugged defenseman known for taking his share of penalties. Has the skill to handle the puck and jump into the attack if needed, but usually is a stay-at-home defenseman. 23 years old.
14 Connor Burleson (Wilmington Whiteheads): The hardest hitting defenseman on the team, most of this 25 year old's checks are clean. Able to deal a bone jarring hip check. Not the best at puckhandling so he's a stay-at-home defenseman.
15 Dave Miller (Portsmouth Pride: Aggressive, attacking defender often skates with the fourth line. Led the team in penalty minutes during the team's exhibition tour through Sarzonia. At 29 years old, he's the oldest player on the team.

FORWARDS:
11 Jeff Cantnell (Galveston College): This left winger has one of the deadliest shots among a left-shooting wing in Sarzonia. He led Endymion State College in goals with 22, which matches his age this year.
16 Marc Coulier (Carthage Crush): Led the team in faceoff win percentage last year (61 percent). Does especially well in clutch faceoffs, so he'll be the first line center. 27 years old.
17 Mike Ridley (Lexington Lasers): The top goal scorer in his amateur league with 28 in 30 games, this 26 year old right winger is the best all-around player Sarzonia has.
19 John Davis (Lexington): Rugged right winger usually defends against the opposing team's top offensive forwards. Is excellent at getting under the skin of some of the greatest players on opposing teams. 21 years old.
20 Kevin Spencer (Galveston College): Can play both center and left wing. Usually decent on face offs, but he's best known for being a tough defensive forward. 28 years old.
22 Albert Cronin (Carthage): Utility forward, can play all three forward positions, but is best at left wing. Improving on defense, but is often sitting on the player's bench in the third period. 24 years old.
23 Steve Becker (Woodstock): For a fourth line center who is among the leaders in penalty minutes, has a deft touch around the goal. If he keeps his hands to himself instead of beating on his opponents, he could be a leading scorer. 23 years old.
24 Kelly Miller (Portland): Arguably the hardest working player in Sarzonia, this 27 year old right winger goes full-tilt on every shift like his family's honor depended on it. His scrappy play has endeared him to his teammates everywhere he's gone. Will dig in the corners and deliver brutal checks on opposing forwards when he has to. The alternate captain.
27 Billy May (Nicksia): Despite his size (5'8, 145 pounds), the toughest fighter on the Sarzonian team. He'll engage anyone anywhere, anytime. Next to no skill with the puck, so when he's on the ice, he's out there to pick a fight. "Plays" left wing.
32 Casey Matthews (Newcastle University): At 6'3, 205 pounds, he's easily the biggest player on the ice for the Blizzards. Despite his physical presence, this 24 year old has a surprisingly good touch when he plays center, but he's well-known for being ambidextrous. Not very good with faceoffs, however.
36 Harvey Benedict (University of Montgomery): If your enforcer has been given a game misconduct, he'll pick up the slack as a right wing. If you have to use him for anything else, he'll do well with his defensive assignments and distract the opposing defense when he has the puck. Other than that, there's not much else this 28 year old is good for.
44 Casey Russell (Henley State College): The younger brother of Sarzonian football star Darwin Russell, he has the hockey equivalent of his brother's skills, but at 19 years old, it'll be a while before he plays center with the starting unit.

Sarzonian Hockey Association team names in italics. The league will start this winter with eight teams playing 56 games each.
