And now, for the full AOlympic Soccer Tournament Review:
The Crystils look like they will storm through this group, as complete newcomers NB and relative young-uns Lamoni shouldn't prove too much of a challenge to this group. Winners: Crystilakere.
Vilita certainly have a huge edge over the other two teams, despite Aquiliana's valiant 2nd Place at the WC17 Baptism of Fire Winners: Vilita, by a distance
Twice-straight and Reigning Regional Champions, NEWI Cefn Druids are the favourite for both the Group and the Gold. Neither of the other teams appear to stand a chance. Winners: NEWI Cefn Druids by a Druidish country mile
On paper this is the closest of the five Groups, which may see the result between Krytenia and Turori decide it. Winners: Turori by a nose
Starblaydia are certainly favourites for this group, having already beaten Nojika in AOCAF2 and look tp have the edge over BoF Semi-Finalists from Flexsys Winners: Starblaydia |

Olympic Cats ready for Aquiliana Green Street, Westleigh - -This will likely be the match that determines who advances from the AOlympic Group B in Westleigh. Jimmy Kater, who has taken over the starting role for the Vilitan National team, will compete in the Tournament and start for Vilita. he will be joined in the starting lineup by fellow Vilitan National Regulars Esemar Aliana, Jaloey Afrikka, Danilo Liguori, Marasent Sioane, Calaesa Mitaroka, Serge DuPont & Umberto Melli. However, Olympic coach Nigel Chapman has stated that he will not be afraid to use his younger players, and has shown us this by selecting the strike duo of Mauro Baraza and Hluali Mijatos in favor of Serge DuPont. Umberto Melli has also been left out in favor of the inexperienced duo of Sublé Tonic and Makosile's Teariki Mané. Chapman has stated he will only be pleased with Victory over Aquiliana, but a draw would not put them out of the running. ------- Chapman is in his first time out as a Head Coach, serving as an Assistant at Yeaddin Owls AFC for the past two seasons. Chapman has adapted Helmut Vilkaus's customary 3-5-3 formation, and utilized Corra Rangers Defensive Midfielder Lai Otieno, the most inexperienced player on the side, to support the midfield. It is expected that Serge DuPont and Umberto Melli will only appear in the second half if the game is in Jeapordy. Vilita Jungle Cats (3-5-2) :: [GK] Jimmy Kater, [D] Esemar Aliana, [D] Jaloey Afrikka, [D] Danilo Liguori, [DM] Lai Otieno, [M] Marasent Sioane, [M] Calaesa Mitaroka, [M] Sublé Tonic, [M] Teariki Mané, [F] Mauro Baraza, [F] Hluali Mijatos BENCH:: [F] Jan Christiansen, [F] Serge DuPont, [M] Umberto Melli, [M] Jeremie Emeka, [U] Musa Nikiema, [D] Emarka Laniora, [GK] Bryan 'Pop' Duiker |

In the SCB Sports studio, Avid-Diord, just before going live... "We lost one-nil, what the piggin' 'ell is that about?" "I have no idea, Trey. I mean, we have the second-best Under-21 Team in the World who finished third at the under-21 World Cup. They are the core of this AOlympic team, for cryin' out loud. And we lost, to Nojika?! I really don't believe it." "Yeah, what a complete load of... Hello there and Welcome Back to Avid-Diord, where Starblaydia have lost their first of two matches, meaning qualification looks somewhat unlikely..." |

"Welcome back to KBS Olympic Special. For those of you who've just joined us, Krytenia have made a massive start to their quest for Football Gold, with a three-nil drubbing of Turori. Now it's over to Frank Giuliano with the rest of the soccer news." "Thanks Gary, and we start with Group A, still wide open after Crystilakere and Lamoni battered out a nil-nil draw. Vilita, favourites for Group B, were held to a one-all stalemate by Aquiliana, and top seeds NEWI Cefn Druids were also held, by Pedriana. Finally, the big shock of Matchday One came in Osteria. Starblaydia, another favourite for the title, were downed one-nil by Nojika." "Thanks for that Frank, and all I can say is watch out, the Celestials are on the Golden Trail!" |

DRUIDSPORT NEWSFLASH: OLYMPIC SPECIAL Björn-Trevor Frederiksson: "Well, the young Druid team that has been sent to take part in the AO Olympic football tournament struggled to a 2-2 draw with Pedriana in their opening match. The squad is essentially an under-23s squad with three over-age players permitted. It meant that a lot of players with experience in the full national side could play, as a lot of them are pretty young. If we look at the squad..." Goalkeepers 1. The stars of the team should be Liam Gessemschmitthaagen-Po, who is one of the over-age players, Bill Posters and Maurice Leicester. Well, we would have the highlights for you, but as the Druids manager for this tournament Trevor Welsh has kidnapped the footage in embarrasement, you'll just have to believe us that it finished two all. "...the referee looks at his watch, and yes, there's the final whistle! And so the Falcons have improbably held the favored Jungle Cats to a 1-1 draw!" "Well, Mo, this was really a superb game by these young players. The AOC was so confident in these players that no overage players were added, and the chemistry they gained from the run in U21 5 really helped them get a chance in this tournament." "Yes, let's look at the replay, just a beautiful goal scored by Zeloptus, assisted by his club teammate Facatus, Kater had no chance on that one." "Vilita really didn't show the dominance expected of them; everyone thought they would roll over this group. Now they need a win over Abattoir tomorrow night to have a good chance at qualifying." "This Falcon team was near-perfect in this match. They had 1 shot off the crossbar, and one headed by Mirus into the post, so it could easily have been a win. Still, they have to be exteremly confident with their chances against Abattoir." "That's right. Well, to recap, Mané scored the quick goal to put the Jungle Cats up early, but Zeloptus came back in the second half with the equalizer, and both teams receive a crucial point in this 2-game qualifier. We'll now send it back to Bilosus Rastus in the studio." "Thanks, Mo. We'll now send things over to the Newellsby Centre..." |
