Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 18 2006, 10:53 AM
I was going to wait until MD4 of WC26 Qualifiers had been posted, but had a spare few minutes so am starting the Sign-up thread now.

The world's premier regional football (soccer) tournament returns for its 12th incarnation and, with more nations in AO than ever before, tournament organisers are hoping for a bumper crop of nations this year. Last time's Champions Hypocria will attempt to defend their first title, while Starblaydia will be looking for a record-breaking fifth championship. Two-time champions Vilita should return, as well as a host of other natons both old and new.

Bids to host the 12th Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football can also be announced here, and a new Poll Thread will be opened once we have some willing candidates.

Nations Currently signed-up: (22/22 or 24)

Posted by: Chicanada Jan 26 2006, 01:23 AM
The Chicanada Sports Federation, while still waiting to see just where our nation will land from the current Limbo state, would like to send the Kodiaks to compete in AOCAF XII.

We are considering a bid to host, as a means to properly introduce the nation to the region and all we have to offer in terms of...well, everything. We should make a decision on it as soon as we've settled onto some land.

Jaquee Morissette
Minister, Chicanada Sports Federation

P.S. As the rookies, we wish to be the doormats, even with our recent ties against much better AOCAF members.

Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 30 2006, 10:24 AM
21 nations signed up, this can start very soon... or would do if we had a host. Milch, is your provisional bid an actual bid?

Posted by: Chicanada Jan 30 2006, 02:16 PM
Chicanada will formally bd to host the AOCAF within it's territory. Without having a second bid country, Chicanada's bid is actually identical to the Legalese/Macabees CoH bid up over at the NS forums (of course, not actually hosting it in either country, so no comments about that dry.gif). More info provided shortly.

Dual bids are not required for the AOCAF (nor have we ever had one)

Considering that Chicanada has a hosting then I'll withdraw my provisional bid it was there just in case nobody else hosts.

Are you sure Milchama? I'd love to see a competitive bid process rather than be handed it.

Anyways, here's what the bid does look like:

Scorinator I use NSFootySim for everything and will use it here. I'll utilize the current AOCAF rankings* along with -5 to 5 codifier for playing style to sim results throughout the tournament.

RP Bonus I cannot judge RPs for the life of me, so it will not be a rated bonus. But if you do RP, it will increase your team's ranking going into a match.

Organization of AOCAF XII Finals

Opening Round - 4 groups will compete.

Groups A-C will see 5 teams compete. Group D will have 6 competitors. #1, #2 and #3 will be seeded into A-C, while #4 and the hosts (us) will be seeded into D. The rest of the draw will be done through pots based off current rankings.

All groups will have 4 games count towards advancement. Group D's lowest finisher will be tossed, and the results against them will be removed from every nation in positions 1-5.

Top two from each group will advance to the Finals. Quaterfinals will have A1-B2, C1-D2, B1-A2, D1-C2 and go from there.

*Note: Chicanada would ask to see it's rank modified from all the way at the bottom due to it's international competition experience. It of course will understand if this is declined.

Oh, and Vilita and Turori are competing seperately...right?

Posted by: Pacitalia Jan 30 2006, 09:55 PM
IC/OOC: The Pacitalian Football Federation will support the Chicanadan bid to host. smile.gif

Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 31 2006, 08:32 AM
Chicanada, the AOCAF rankings take into account partly the KPB rankings, but mostly its based on previous performances in the AOCAF. So, don't worry you'll be nicely near the bottom.

I hereby declare Chicanada the default host for AOCAF12, then! If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask us/me. You'll have your own subforum mod powers and everything soon.

Posted by: Chicanada Jan 31 2006, 01:25 PM
*Cuddles my low ranking. Gosh darn inability to make it past qualifiers*

Thanks ever so much for the opportunity to host, everyone!

Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 31 2006, 01:29 PM
I'll even update the ranks at some point before we get started.

Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 31 2006, 03:37 PM
AOCAF ranks have now been updated, with old ones archived. check the first post of th rankings thread for your new spot smile.gif

Posted by: Nojika Jan 31 2006, 04:17 PM
Let me clear this up -- the first post in the ranks thread says that Nojika is ranked 21st, while the last post, which is dated Jan 31, 2006 by you, Star, says that Nojika is 23rd. Which post are we supposed to be looking at?

Yes, I saw that. But I was curious as to why we were looking at the first post, when Star had created a new post today with completely different ranks. 'Tis all...

Posted by: Starblaydia Jan 31 2006, 05:17 PM
The new posts are effectively archiving the old ranks. The 'new' ranks go in the first post, along with past winners and other such info. Why that is I'm not sure, but Vil seemed to have a system smile.gif

Dude, I didn't come last and I don't think I won ONE match. Football scoring is evidently broken. I love it.

Ah. You see, this is what happens when you post without reading. My post was originally going to say "I don't think I won ANY matches" but then I reread and found I had one, so I changed ANY to ONE and matches to match.

Posted by: Pacitalia Jan 31 2006, 11:13 PM
Pacitalia - glad to be seeded dead last. tongue.gif

Posted by: Chicanada Feb 1 2006, 12:13 AM
With Hiiraan added up, would anyone mind if we wait to see if maybe two more nations sign up? We're at 22 and I can run it with that, but I'd like to run it with 24 if possible.

Hell, if other puppet nations wanna be added, I'm good with that.

I'll say Friday as the deadline for teams to sign up, with the Draw going up Saturday and Matches starting up on Monday.

Fmjphoenix U21 Squad will show up for the AOCAF

Posted by: Chicanada Feb 2 2006, 01:56 AM
So do they get the same ranking as Fmj currently holds...if there is one? I should check!

Posted by: Legalese Feb 2 2006, 04:14 AM
They would, Chicanda. For most of the WC/CoH teams, the AOCAF team is effectively their reserve squad. Fmj's just using his u21s instead.

Oh please, he was only in the WC19 squad for sentimental reasons, and didn't travel to away games. Plus he's SDB, so doesn't count.

Whereas Pacitalia's AOCAF team is its WC team because Pacitalia is anti-WC. wink.gif

Posted by: Chicanada Feb 2 2006, 02:50 PM
Well, Chicanada's team is WC because...well, I doubt CoH willdo well.

So, looking for one more side to compete! Otherwise, Vilita's getting the small group.

Posted by: Starblaydia Feb 2 2006, 03:50 PM
Historically there have been penalties imposed on teams using the same squad for both WC/CoH and the AOCAF. Would you expect the same team to compete in the World Cup and European Championships at the same time? Not likely smile.gif

Posted by: Chicanada Feb 2 2006, 09:55 PM
*grumbles to self, makes up reserve side*

Posted by: Chicanada Feb 4 2006, 03:28 PM
As a heads up, the Draw will be posted tonight around 8pm MST (10 out east, 7 out west, early morning Europe)

With 23 teams:

Pot 1 - Already drawn - #1-4 in Groups A-D
Pot 2 - #5-8
Pot 3 - #9-12
Pot 4 - #13-16
Pot 5 - #17-19, one blank (to determine Group of 5)
Pot 6 - All 4 Newbies to tourney, including Chicanada.

One group of 5, 3 groups of 6.
