(OOC - sorry the draw wasn't done yesterday. An unexpected shopping trip ruined all my plans.)

"Here we are live in Ts'khinvali, South Osettia, for the group draw of the first ever Atlantian Oceania Champions League, the competition where 32 teams battle it out to be the top domestic dog in the region. Here comes head of the SOFA, Mr. Terfur Igliou."

"Thankyou all for coming this evening to witness what will surely be the start of a long and wonderful tradition. Football is the thing that binds us all together. Historically it has been a saviour in wars; that is what the magic of this game can do. Now we will hopefully witness this magic once again, as we do the group draw for the AO Champions League. The teams will be divided into four pots, as shown on the screen behind me:"

The Capitol City team could not get the job done today as they lost 1-0. For the record, here are the teams stats.

SFC teams earn four points in first matchday

The first matchday of the AO Champions League was an instant replay of the results from the second leg of NS Champions League qualifying. The Woodstock Wild earned a one goal win, beating Hubana City from northern neighbors Chacor 1-0. Forward Brian Wilson scored the goal in the 77th minute when a Humana City midfielder brought down midfielder Darwin Russell in the 18 yard box. Goalkeeper Horace Sandt notched the clean sheet with six saves.

Meanwhile, the Portland Timbers earned a 1-1 draw against Calista Flock from Big Pimento. Forward Chris Thomas scored the first goal in the competition in the 28th minute with the Timbers having the run of play, but defender Joe Tillman gave up an own goal when his backpass to goalkeeper Troy Perkins hit off a pebble and took a bounce that Perkins couldn't handle.

"We just know how to play well in big games," Woodstock Coach David Bostwick said. "That's why we've won several championships in the SFC."

Portland has become known as a team with great talent but unable to play in the clutch, and their loss to an average Calista Flock team will not sit well with Timbers fans. Coach Kerry Tanner said afterward that the team underestimated the Flock.

"The lads thought we could just go in and blow them away," Tanner said. "Obviously, we're going to have to earn our way through to the next stage."

This was a hard day for the Fmjphoenix teams, as only the Spraatan Tigers looked even remotely like a competitive team from Fmjphoenix, gaining a draw against Woodstock Wild, 2-2. From there, it gets ugly. The Alabaster Lions lost to Iskara Daii by the score 2-4. The favorite team of Fmjphoenix, aside form the Vikings, the Vanguard Eagles could not get anything going against the Yeaddin Owls FC, as they lost 0-4. But worst of all the Capitol Hariots looked more like 12 year olds playing for the first time as they were utterly destroyed by the Strike FC 1-7. Hopefully matchday 3 will bring better fortunes for the Fmjphoenix teams.

Vanguard Eagles:
0-1-1 | Goals For: 2 | Goals Against: 6

Spraatan Tigers:

Deuces wild for Woodstock; Timbers crash

For the perennial SFC champion Woodstock Wild, their 2-2 draw against the Spraatan Tigers of Fmjphoenix's domestic league was a missed opportunity to clinch a spot in the knockout stages of the inaugural AO Champions League. With a 1-0 win in the first match, against Hubana City, the Wild had a chance to distance themselves from the Group B pack. At 1-1-0, four points, the Wild is even with the Tigers for first place in the group with a match against Nidola FC.

Meanwhile, the Portland Timbers are still trying to shake a reputation as a talented team that comes up small in the clutch, but they stumbled in their biggest chance to erase that reputation, falling 3-1 to Dinamo Neodzki and putting them in a three way tie for the second knockout stage berth. Portland (0-1-1, one point) will need to win and will need massive help to advance.

A win by Portland combined with a Dinamo Neodzki loss sends the Timbers into the knockout stages. A draw between the two teams and a Portland win by three goals or more also sends the team through to the next round. If Dinamo Neodzki wins, they advance with Jhanna United.

"We're going to have to rely on someone else's good fortune to get in and that's not going to help us much," Coach Kerry Tanner said. "First thing's first, we have to take care of our own end. We can't control what other people do."

For Woodstock, it's much simpler: Win and they're in, and that's just the way team captain Bobby Convey likes it.

"We control our own destiny and that's all you can ask for in a pressurized situation like the Champions League," Convey said. "If we take care of what we need to take care of, we'll have a good chance."

Scelestus United's Woes Continue Outside Big Pimento

Scelestus United, Big Pimento's most dominant team for almost the entire last decade, continues to struggle in international play, as they've been only able to muster up one point in two matches. After a 6-3 loss to Starblaydi offensive juggernauts, Iskara Daii, Scelestus came back with a draw 1-1 against Farca United. Scelestus United can still make the second round, a victory over the Alabaster Lions coupled with a loss or draw by Farca United will pave the road to qualification for the Pimento side.

Flock's Stock Drops

Scelestus United are not the only Big Pimento team to be struggling against some of the other titans from the better funded leagues in Atlantian Oceania, as the Calista Flock also find themselves with just one point after two matchdays. Bong Jong-Il scored the lone goal for the Flock, and he'll need to catch fire to push his team into the next round. A victory against tomorrow's opponents, Dinamo Neodzki, will ensure the team goes through.

Another Big Pimento Team, Another Team With One Point

Pimento City FC also have just one point to show for their first two matchdays, but their situation is a bit bleaker than those of their national counterparts. After holding Vilitian side Marine Coast United to a scoreless draw, they've kept their chances of qualification alive. The Flock will have to beat bottom feeders Fresan City by a good number of goals and hope for a Marine Coast United loss, since the only way Calista will go through is on goal difference, provided the aforementioned scenario occurs.

Jokerit Kjellberg Enjoying Success

Believed by many to be the pre-tournament weakest team to be representing Big Pimento, Jokerit Kjellberg are putting their countrymates to shame with their solid performance. They're currently in a tie for the group lead with the Tuncastle Rovers, both of which having equal numbers of points (4), goal difference (2) and goals for (3). Jokerit Kjellberg currently sits on top of the group on virtue of alphabetical order, but that will likely be shaken up as they'll have to face the Tuncastle Rovers next. A win or a draw by Jokerit will see them through, a loss and they'll have to hold their breath and see what happens in the match against Arcticala Inlet and Parkville.

Strike Explode over Capitol, Owls Soar

Strike FC recorded the biggest win in the brief history of the AO champions league with their 7-1 demolishin of Fmjphoenix's Capitol Hariots. Jungle Strike, led by Vilitan Captain Santo Kecker, coped well with the loss of starlet Inaki Soler, who moved to Yeaddin Owls in the biggest recorded transfer in Vilitan Domestic history. Eauz'ian goalkeeper Michel Rousoi was unsure of his availability for the match, as he is not of Atlantian Oceania birth, until he was cleare prior to the competition as he has been playing in Vilita over 5 seasons, giving him Vilitan second nationality according to SI's CM/FM Codebook. It is unknown whether or not players not of Atlantian Oceanian nationality are allowed to participate in the competition.

Soler made an instant impact in Yeaddin, knocking home a goal either side of the half as the Owls beat up on more Fmjphoenix opposition, recorded a comfortable 4-0 win over Vanguard Eagles. Like Strike, the Owls find themselves atop their group at this stage of the competition, and watching their nemesis' such as Iskara Daii in Group H, who while unbeaten, have had a bit of a defensive farce in the opening two matches and are showing signs that either Strike or Yeaddin could be considered favorites at this point.

Eagles and Tigers go through

Out of the four Fmjphoenix teams that went to compete in the AO Champions League, the Vanguard Eagles and Spraatan Tigers are the two teams that had a record good enough to go on, with the Eagles winning their last match against Fresan Vally United 3-1 and the Spraatan Tigers drawing 1-1 against Hubana City to go on. The Capitol Hariots lost their 3rd match in a row to Bessburg 2-0 and the Alabaster Lions barely lost 1-0 against Scelestus Iunctus.

The draw to see where the Eagles and Tigers get placed against will be tommorow. Stay tuned to see how much farther they progress.

Wild wins group; Timbers out of running

While the Woodstock Wild was winning its game 4-3 to advance to the knockout stages of the AO Champions League as Group B champions, the Portland Timbers were packing their bags to return to the Iron Bowl after they were eliminiated following a 2-2 draw to Jhanna United.

The Wild (2-1-0, seven points) defeated Nidola FC from Aquiliana in their third and final group stage match while Fmjphoenix's Spraatan Tigers drew 1-1 with Chacor's Hubana City to finish second in the group. The Portland Timbers closed out the group stage with a 2-2 draw against Starblaydi team Jhanna United.

"We did what we were expecting to do," Wild Coach David Bostwick said. "We have a team that can now compete on the international stage and we proved that."

Meanwhile, Portland's woes in big matches continued despite the change of coaches to former national team goalkeeper Kerry Tanner. Tanner said he was going to focus much of his effort on getting his team ready to play the big matches, but acknowledged that "it's a long road ahead.

"This team just seems to find a way to lose the big ones," Tanner said. "We should have a mentality that we can win the big matches, but we need to make some changes psychologically in what we do as a team. The fact is that we're good enough to win, but it seems as though the players don't think they can win."

The Timbers (0-2-1, two points) said they would concentrate on the NS Champions League matches since they were able to advance on aggregate in that.

"We've still got some games coming up against some great international teams," goalkeeper Troy Perkins said. "Perhaps we'll be able to redeem ourselves a little bit."

-------------------Yeaddin Owls have consistently been one of the best teams in Vilita. However, it was a major upset when Yeaddin pipped Marine Coast United to the inagural Vilitan League Title. Marine got one over on Yeaddin though at the end of the season, when Marine out-dueled Yeaddin to the Tropical Trophy, played between the Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions at the completion of each season. Yeaddin were unable to qualify for the Trophy in Season 2 after a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Tivali City. Jonathon Stott and Nigel Chapman put the Owls 2-0 up at the half, but Tivali fought back and upset the Two-Time League champions in their only Vilitan Cup final appearance. The Owls looked ready to face Marine Coast in the Season Three Cup final, before a 2-1 second leg defeat to Cednia Beach saw Yeaddin out.

-------------------Yeaddin Owls finished a remarkable season 10 with a record 24 games unbeaten in all competitions, including their 16 game winning streak midseason, along with a record 70 Stellar Division Points, 76 Stellar Division Goals Scored and just 16 conceded, as well as the all-time record 7-1 victory over Tivali City to add to their record books. The title was the Owls 6th consecutive championship, and 8th overall.

----------------Yeaddin find themselves in the record books for two of the most lopsided victories in the history of the Vilitan Stellar Division. The 6-0 Victor over Inland Peaks in Season One still stands as the most lopsided match in Vilitan History. Yeaddin were 4-0 up after just 25 minutes, before Jonathon Stott added 2 more in the last 15 minutes of the match to complete his 3-Goal Performance. It was also one of the last matches for German Salomon at the club, his 26th minute goal one of his last before his transfer to Kingsford Club Elders. The 6-0 Result has only been duplicated once since then, in Cednia Beach's 6-0 victory over Lopinka in season three. However, Cednia had the luxury of 2 Penalty Kicks in the opening 15 minutes, after Lopinka had their goalkeeper sent off. The 1-5 Defeat at Strike goes down as the second most lopsided scoreline in Stellar Division history. The Owls had taken an early lead, before Serge DuPont equalized for Strike with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half. DuPont lit up the stage in the second half, with 2 quick goals for himself, then setting up another for a teamate to put Strike ahead 4-1. The fifth goal was gifted to Strike after DuPont's shot was deflected in for a Yeaddin own goal.[center]

Wild gets full dose of Big Pimento's best

After winning Group B in the AO Champions League with a 2-1-0 record, the Woodstock Wild have their sights set on Big Pimento teams in both champions leagues, with Calista Flock the next opponents for the Wild in the worldwide Champions League and Scelestus Iunctus the next matchup for Woodstock in the regional competition.

For Coach David Bostwick, that makes matters more challenging.

"We're going to have to watch tapes of Big Pimento's league matches for these two teams," Bostwick said. "It's hard because we've gotten an unreliable signal from BP television over the last few years. We can get their newspapers, but you can't run a scouting report from a newspaper."

The Wild has been watching the tape of the match between the Portland Timbers and Calista Flock intently and they are now awaiting the tapes of Scelestus Iunctus. The team said they hope to lull Scelestus Iunctus to sleep by playing a defense-oriented system, but they also intend to have forward Brian Wilson drop back and play midfield in a 4-5-1 formation.

"Horace [Sandt] is a good keeper but he's still young," midfielder and team captain Bobby Convey said. "The more we do to help him out, the better we'll be."

"I'm looking forward to playing them," Sandt said. "Little Pimento should be big fun."

-------------------Strike FC met with Marine Coast United at The Shultis in one of the most memorable Stellar Division clashes of all time. Umberto Melli put Strike off to a dream start 3 minutes in after a cross from Emarka Laniora. Marine Coast faught back but it was Strike who scored again, the veteran Santo Kecker picking up Inaki Solers rebound after the winger saw his shot bounce off the crossbar. Just minutes later, the difference was 3 has Soler again provided the set up for the goal. Marine Coast were dealt a blow just before half time as young defender Petros Alfieri was sent off for violent conduct.

-------------------Marine would not give up though, Carmine Mbidzo rose higher than Michel Rousoi to power Jim Vella's free kick home to reduce the deficit. Two more Strike goals saw the home side get complacent at a deserved 5-1 advantage. However, Callum Banda had other ideas with his 80th minute strike. Marine Coast looked set to score a 3rd, when Inake Soler intercepted and ran the distance of the field, outskilling Sibusisio Azaiez before scoring a highlight reel strike. Azaiez got his revenge in stoppage time, but his scrappy goal off Malovar Stokks corner kick was not enough to save Coast's blushes, Strike solidfying their place in the record books with the 6-3 victory.

-------------------In a surprise move during Season 10, the prodigal Inaki Soler left Strike FC to join Yeaddin Owls in an all-time record transfer fee between Vilitan Clubs. The highly toughted Maurizio Sala moved on to Turoki Isle from relegation-threatened Nusira Lionta. Only Yeaddin Owls purchase of Tanner Nerni, a player much in Soler's mold, even produced a fee half as much as the astronomical fee for Inaki Soler.

Fmjphoenix teams to face tougher matches against all the other winners of their respective groups

The Vanguard Eagles and Spraatan Tigers were both hoping to get a hold of the Strike FC first, to regain a little revenge for the Capitol Hariots, who went 0-0-3 in the first rounds and had a hard 7-1 loss against the Strike FC from Vilita, but will have to wait.

To start off the first day of matches in the second round, the Eagles will face the Jhanna United of Starblaydia and the Tigers face the Tuncastle Rovers of Nove Britannicus. They will both be playing their hardest to stay alive.

-------------The 5-5 Draw with Marine Coast United at the Cednia Beach Center in Turori in the middle of the Inagural Vilitan League Season will go down as one of the matches that catapulted the Vilitan League into what it is today. The only 10 Minute period of the game where no goals were score was the final 10, after a Keiaon Akita goal in the 78th minute for Cednia Beach levelled the scores at 5. Cednia Beach had opened the scoring 9 Minutes in, but it took Baron O'Toole just 9 more to equalize for Marine Coast. Then it was Jim Vella putting Marine back in front another 8 minutes later. Yet another 8 minutes passed before Cednia Beach tied the match to the delight of the home support, but Baron O'Toole's second of the match from the ensuing restart quited the Cednia faithful. Mailano Mumamba would have none of that however, as he converted a beautfil free kick less than 5 minutes later to send the match level into the half. Cednia took an improbable lead 5 minutes into the half, but Jim Vella quickly set the match level at 4. It was Baron O'Toole who scored the first hat trick for Marine Coast, before Akita's late leveller launced Cednia Beach into the limelight, taking them from a Relegation threatened team, to a well supported Vilitan Cup Finalist.

-------------While Cednia Beach is not known as a team harnessing loads of International Talent, currently with only one serving international, aging Turori Eels Goalkeeper Milauo Slietah, the Beach can claim to having as many future internationals training as anybody. At the conclusion of Season 7, a representative from Marine Coast United travelled to Cednia with the mighty Marine Coast bank account with him. He left with Vilitan International Carmine Mbidzo and Vilitan Under-21 World Cup 9 Captain Maurizio Sala. Earlier that season, they gave up the rights to a then little known Forward by the name of Riccardo Appolloni. Appolloni is now first choice striker for Yeaddin Owls AFC, and partners Callum Banda in the Vilitan National Team. Cednia Beach accrued a then-record transfer fee at the conclusion of Season 8 for Wing-Midfielder Tanner Nerni, now a Vilitan International for Yeaddin Owls AFC. Also departing the Beach at that time was now Vilitan Under-21 International Midfielder Jacques Vintila, who went to Jlinal Cove FC. Other past Internationals groomed in Cednia Beach include Turorian Internationals Marlian Hunial, Kiatin Likao, Yabaiy Tbaio, Moiba Linaian and Malaino Mumamba. Rejistanian International and World Cup winning captain Kadu Hsen made 25 appearances for Cednia Beach during Season 6, while former Vilitan Under-21 and Regional Internationals Malovar Stokks and Christos Tchami also spent time at the Beach.

---------------Owls Keep Tradition Rolling

---------------Yeaddin Owls AFC have Struck back and started what will hopefully be a trend in Atlantian Oceania over the coming week, by knocking off Starblaydi club Veccio Victors in the first Atlantian Oceania Champions League, held in South Osettia. The Second Round matchup between the Vilitan Megaliths and the solid Starblaydian representatives was the highest attending match of the round, and the return leg looks set to be no different.

---------------The Victors got the match started early with a 12th minute opener that seemed to give them the momentum they needed to steal an opening leg point from the Vilitan champions. However, Vilitan International phenom Inaki Soler had other ideas, receiving the pass from Riccardo Appolloni directly off the kick off, before storming past the Veccio defense and firing a blinding effort from 25 yards that curled round the Starblaydi keeper and into the far corner of the net, levelling the scores. The match would stay level through the half, but the Owls were too strong, and a 63rd minute Calaesa Mitaroka Penalty Kick gave the Owls the important advantage heading into the second leg.

Final Score:: Yeaddin Owls AFC 2 - 1 Veccio Victors

Wild passes second stage, face more Pimento action

Four time SFC champions Woodstock Wild continues to carry the banner of the Sarzonian national league in both the AO and NS Champions Leagues, and the Wild dispatched Scelestus Iunctus after a hard-fought 2-1 win away to take the two match series 5-2 on aggregate goals.

The Wild will face another Big Pimento team, Jokerit Kjellburg, in the quarterfinals of the AO Champions League. Unlike the series against Scelestus Iunctus, the first match will be away, so Wild Coach David Bostwick decided to keep his team in a hotel rather than have the team return to Sarzonia.

"I'd rather have us get used to the sights and sounds in Big Pimento than worry about logistics of flying home and flying back. It's a short trip, but it's still tiring to do that much travelling in short order. We'll all get back in our own beds soon enough."

With the national team in Turori for the World Cup finals, the Wild have secured permission from the Incorporated Football Federation, the sport's governing body in Sarzonia, to use Hendrix Stadium for the second leg. The stadium recently added seats to boost its capacity to 79,240, dwarving the Wild's usual home, the Palestra and its 32,000 seat capacity.

"We think we'll be able to get a home field advantage at Hendrix," midfielder and team captain Bobby Convey said. "Not that we couldn't at the Palestra, but we think Hendrix will be an intimidating place for anyone playing against us."

With the Eagles losing 2-0 and 3-0, there were eliminated from the second leg of the AO Champions League, but there is still hope for a team from the Football Association of Fmjphoenix, as the Spraatan Tigers are alive and kicking with a 1-1 draw and 1-0 victory to their credit in the first leg. Now, in the second leg, the Tigers find themselves pitted against Vecchio Victors. Hopefully they can keep going and put some fear into other teams.

Wild doesn't need home cooking in first leg
Maybe the Woodstock Wild ought to stay in Big Pimento.

With the second leg of the quarterfinal series against Scelestus Iunctus and the opening leg of the semifinal series against Jokerit Kjellburg both taking place in Big Pimento, Coach David Bostwick had his team stay in Big Pimento rather than travel home to Woodstock to train, saying he thought the team would be fresher than if they made the trip. Forward Brian Wilson certainly looked the part, scoring two goals and assisting on the third to lead the way for the Wild in a 3-1 win.

"We looked like a team that was used to the sights and sounds of the country we were playing in," Bostwick said. "Besides that, we had a bit more legs under us than we would have if we went back to Woodstock to train and flew back. It's going to make things a lot easier for us when we do return home."

The Wild jumped out of the gate early, getting a shot on goal from midfielder Bobby Convey just three minutes into the match and getting Wilson's first goal nine minutes in. His one-time header of a Convey cross gave the Wild a major lift in confidence.

"We felt like we could beat anyone anywhere," Convey said. "This goes a long way toward proving that."

The two combined for the next Wild marker with Convey getting the goal off a dangerous cross from Wilson that just eluded the punch attempt of the Jokerit Kjellburg goalkeeper. Convey made sure he didn't miss his chance, burying the ball into the back of the net 23 minutes in. Wilson made it 3-0 after an attempted clear by the Jokerit Kjellburg central defender hit him in the chest. He trapped the ball and fired an off-footed shot that bounced off the goalpost and into the back of the net just two minutes before first half injury time began.

Jokerit Kjellburg got one goal back in the 65th minute thanks to a gaffe by Wild goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He took too long to play a back pass, resulting in an indirect free kick the Jokerit Kjellburg playmaking midfielder bent into the back of the net behind a startled Sandt. The host team tried desperately to get back into the match, but the Wild defense was up to the task and shut the door on the match.

The Wild will host Jokerit Kjellburg in the second leg of the series at Hendrix Stadium in an attempt to earn a trip to the semifinals. With a 3-1 lead in aggregate and three away goals, it seems that only a total collapse will prevent the Wild from the semifinals, but Bostwick isn't taking anything for granted.

"We weren't expected to do anything in [the SFC's] first year, but we beat Portland," Bostwick said. Despite the Portland Timbers' 20-4-4 regular season record and the Wild's being just above the .500 mark, Woodstock defeated Portland in the SFC Cup final that year on the way toward becoming the most decorated Sarzonian club team.

Tigers roar into victory, keep streak alive

The Spraatan Tigers, the team that finished in second place in the FFL last year, is on a tear in the AO Champions League, as they defeated Vecchio Victors 3-2 in the first leg of the second round.

Victor Flout scored 2 goals and assisted Corvin Mendel, younger brother of Jorge Mendel, on the third goal. Goalkeeper Breven House gave up two goals early on, but was solid throughout the second half as he did not allow a goal past.

Match two comes today and hopefully the Tigers will keep pouncing on its opponens with no mercy.

Strike soar into Semis

--------------------Jungle Strike FC have capitalized on their early exit from the World Champions League by focusing on the Atlantian Oceania Regional Champions League, and knocking out competitive rivals Jhanna United 3-2 on aggregate.

--------------------The first leg match up, held at the Shultis in Lonngeylin, Vilita, ended as a 2-2 draw with Jhanna taking away 2 important away goals. However, the ruling would not need to be enforced as Strike settled down, went to Starblaydia and left Jhanna City 1-0 victors, leaving the Starblaydians down trodden on their own turf.

--------------------The next opponents for Strike FC will be Fmjphoenix's Spraatan Tigers who will be playing with a passion after their country's early exit from this seasons Cup of Harmony tournament.

Wild passes Pimentos, advance to semis

A crowd of nearly 80,000 supporters packed Hendrix Stadium in Woodstock in spite of escalating tensions between Sarzonia and longtime ally Roach-Busters. The crowd sure acted as if they didn't care what was happening in the rest of the world, cheering wildly as forward Brian Wilson scored two goals to lead the Wild to a 2-1 victory in the home leg of their quarterfinals series against Jokerit Kjellburg of Big Pimento. The victory clinched a 5-2 aggregate score for the Wild.

"We did just what we had to do against a very good team," Wild Coach David Bostwick said. "Brian played one of his best games in a Wild uniform and we're going to hope to ride that into a finals berth."

The Wild jumped out on top almost from the opening kickoff, with their first goal coming only 55 seconds into the match. Wilson took a pass from midfielder and team captain Bobby Convey and raced down the Jokerit end of the pitch, outmanuvering defenders and firing a laser shot past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead before some of the supporters had a chance to find their seats. That, along with the suddenness of the goal led to a muted reaction from the 78,937 in attendance.

They would have a chance to go full-throat just 29 minutes later. Convey sent a through ball that eluded the head of a Jokerit defender and Wilson slammed a header into the back of the net to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage they took into halftime. Only a penalty kick in the 73rd minute prevented a shutout by Horace Sandt.

The Wild faces Iskara Daii of regional rivals Starblaydia in a home and home series that begins at Hendrix Stadium. The team is encouraging fans to arrive early for security checks and to avoid traffic. The increased security is a reaction to the escalating cold war between Roach-Busters and Sarzonia, but Convey said the team wasn't going to focus on the political situation.

"Unless they've got Godrods raining down on Hendrix Stadium, we've got a job to do that has nothing to do with politics or war," he said. "The only war we're interested in is the kind that will be settled between the lines of a football pitch."

Tigers playing with passion for more than one reason

The Spraatan Tigers are playing at a high level in the AO Champions League. They have continued to play dominantly and continue on. Now, the Tigers hope to get a little revenge for the Capitol City football team, the Hariots, after the Strike FC from Vilita shut them down 7-1. Also, they want to make a statement for the Fmjphoenix Vikings, the nations pride, as they were unexpectidly knocked out of the Cup of Harmony after being a favorite for it with the extreme play they showed from World Cup 19.

Now, the Tigers are representing the the primary entertainment for Fmjphoenix. They plan on playing hard to try and show the region that football greatness is strong in Fmjphoenix.

Strike Search for More Foreign Magic

--------------------Lonngeylin, Vilita based Jungle Strike FC will be looking for more of the Away-From-Home magic that saw them overcome Starblaydian rivals Jhanna United in the Quarter Finals. The two rivals drew the first leg at the ampetheatre-like Shultis in Lonngeylin, before Strike FC outclassed Jhanna United in Starblaydia to advance to the Semi Final stage. Fmjphoenix based Spraatan Tigers have duplicated Jhanna's feat, earning a draw in one of the most exciting domestic stadiums in the world.

--------------------Strike, led by captain Santo Kecker, and still having Eauzian goalkeeper Michel Rousoi on contract after his good job for Eauz against Vilita in the World Cup Finals, will be looking to achieve a Semi-Final second leg result similar to that they achieved against Fmjphoenix's Capitol Harriots, when Strike came away 7-1 victors in the qualfying stage.

Wild takes first step to AO final

The Sarzonian national team has had a lot of trouble with Starblaydia's national team, losing five of eight all time meetings with their football rivals, with one of the matches being a draw. The Woodstock Wild took a step toward possibly restoring some national pride against a Starblaydi team, defeating Iskara Daii 2-1 in front of an overflow crowd of 80,215 at Hendrix Stadium in Woodstock in the first leg of their semifinal series.

The Wild can advance with a win or a draw in Starblaydia, and Coach David Bostwick said the team would play its normal style of football instead of possibly playing more defensive-minded.

"We didn't get this far by playing conservative football," Coach David Bostwick said. "We did it by playing attack-minded football and by maintaining possession. We've won some matches on the road and we expect to be able to go through to the next round if we can play our brand of football effectively."

The national team combination of forward Brian Wilson and midfielder Bobby Convey struck again for the Wild when Wilson found Convey with a through ball as Convey streaked past a Daii defender and looped a shot over the goalkeeper in the 42nd minute to send the Wild into the locker room ahead 1-0.

Iskara Daii came right back, silencing the loud Woodstock supporters with a free kick that eluded goalkeeper Horace Sandt and into the upper left corner of the net in the 72nd minute. Iskara Daii then made a defensive substitution, seemingly content to settle for a 1-1 draw, but defender Trevor Crenshaw made the team pay with a well-timed counter and he deked the goalkeeper to tap the ball into the net in the 86th minute to provide the winning margin. Iskara Daii tried playing desperate football to score the equaliser, but couldn't get a shot on Sandt before the final whistle.

"We still have work to do before we can accomplish what we want to," Convey said. "This is only the first step of hopefully a long road to the championship."

Tigers earn draw with Strike, finals in view

Drezan Vogel scored the Tigers lone goal against the Strike FC in route to a 1-1 draw. This next match is going to be the most important match played by the Tigers to date. Not only does a win solidify a finals apperance in the first AO Champions League, but it would give a little revenge for Fmjphoenix as they wish to get some sort of reprive for the Strike FC routing the Capitol Hariots 7-1. This will no doubt be a tough match for both teams and will way to the possible champions.

Club team earns national revenge

With Starblaydia's success against Sarzonia in national team play playing in the back of their minds, the Woodstock Wild were playing for more than a trip to the AO Champions League finals. They were playing for a bit of national pride after a devastating World Cup loss to Crystilakere and some salve during a cold war against former allies Roach-Busters. The Wild got all of that and more, getting the only goal of the match from defender Trevor Crenshaw and a 1-0 victory.

Goalkeeper Horace Sandt was the other star for the Wild, turning aside six Daii shots to post a clean sheet and advance his team and earn him some consideration for a berth on the national team.

"We had a lot to play for, no question," Sandt said. "This isn't the national team beating Starblaydia, but at least we're in the finals in our first go. It took five tries to get to the finals in the AOCAF."

The Wild continued to flash the form that earned them victories in 13 of their 17 matches against international club teams. Their only loss so far came at the Palestra in Woodstock to Calista Flock of Big Pimento. They earned draws against the Jamaica Giants of Bedistan and Strike FC, who will face the Wild in the finals of the AO Champions League. Woodstock defeated Strike FC away 2-1 in Matchday 3 of the group stages and earned a draw in the second leg. Coach David Bostwick said that would make things tougher for his team.

"They're familiar with us now," Bostwick said. "Not only that, but they'll be motivated for revenge. We're going to have to be prepared to give it everything we've got. They certainly will." Fortunately for Bostwick, the first leg will take place at Hendrix Stadium in Woodstock, where over 80,000 Wild supporters are expected to brave a cold war to attend the match.

"It's going to be great," midfielder Valentin Kienzl said.

[OOC: We're still doing a two leg final home and away, right?]

Wild aims to Strike first

With a spot in the championship final of the first Atlantian Oceania Champions League secured, Coach David Bostwick had his team travel to South Osettia to train for their match against Strike FC of the Vilitan league and become familiar with the sights and sounds of their new AO neighboring country. Bostwick is hoping that early trip will give them the advantage they enjoyed when the team stayed in Big Pimento after winning the second leg of one match and starting the first leg of another match.

"The best thing we can do is to make sure we have the logistics ironed out," Bostwick said. "We're going to need every advantage we can get against Strike FC."

The Wild earned a victory and a draw against Strike FC in the NS Champions League group stage as they won Group 6 with a 3-2-1 record and 11 points. While they will use their familiarity with Strike FC to help them prepare, they are also concerned that Strike FC will use their 0-1-1 record against Woodstock as motivation.

"They're going to be gunning for us," midfielder and captain Bobby Convey said. "We can't just show up and expect to win, that's for sure."

Woodstock has enjoyed tremendous success in football matches against foreign club competition, going 13-3-1, with the lone loss coming against Calista Flock in the first match of the group stages of the NS Champions League. Including Portland's 3-3-5 record, Sarzonian Football Confederation teams have gone a combined 16-6-6 in club competitions.

"I don't think that's going to be a huge statement about SFC football," forward Brian Wilson said. "The teams playing are the class of our league. I think any league's best teams can stand up with anyone else's best teams. We haven't seen the Nicksia Knights play anyone or the Saugerties Snakes play anyone yet."

Strike Look for First Regional Title

--------------------Jungle Strike FC head coach R.L. Cruisin has prepared his team well ahead of the first-ever Atlantian Oceania Regional Club Championship final, where his Vilitan-based team will square off against Sarzonia's Woodstock Wild in a rematch of the teams group stage clashes in the World Champions League. The Wild came out the better of the two in those matches, do to the errors in the goal-scoring calculators that had given Strike FC the defensive ratings of Calista Flock, and not of their own very impressive defensive lineup.

--------------------The Strike FC defense is full of international talent, including budding central defender Ricky Ezis, and the experienced D-L duo of Danilo Liguori and David Leacock. Cruisin is boosted by the news that starting goalkeeper Michel Rousoi will have no distractions ahead of the final matchup, with his national team, Eauz, knocked out of the World Cup finals at the second round stage. Only Turorian forward Jualiar Vumaou remains in the World Cup, after the Vilitan team was knocked out in the group stage, but Vumaou will be forgoing the Turorian Quarter final clash with Audioslavia in favor of the Club Championship in South Osettia.

Wild proves to be AO's best of the best

The inaugural AO Champions League trophy pitted Strike FC of Vilita's top league against a team that formed when Sarzonia's professional league was a "bunch of weekend footballers." Despite a wartorn country and despite some prognosticators dubbing them underdogs, the Woodstock Wild added to their domestic title haul by beating Strike FC 3-1 to capture the title.

Forward Brian Wilson was named tournament Most Valuable Player after scoring two goals and adding an assist and goalkeeper Horace Sandt made five saves to lead a stout defensive effort. The Wild improved to 14-1-3 against foreign club competition and can now focus on preparations for their matches against Hetkali Hetaki of Rejistania's national league.

"For us to be the first-ever AO Champions League cup winners is an incredible accomplishment," Coach David Bostwick said. "We had to beat some outstanding football teams to get here and we had another tough match against a strong team from Vilita."

The Wild looked like they'd be in trouble early. Midfielder Umberto Melli scored Strike FC's first goal in the 28th minute when defender Harvey Benson missed his assigned mark and Melli's onetime bid eluded Sandt to put Strike FC on top 1-0.

"The goal deflated us for the moment," Sandt said. "But [Wilson] picked everybody back up." Wilson immediately began exhorting his teammates to play with intensity and the team soon listened to the national team captain. Midfielder Valentin Kienzl knotted the match up 1-1 when he ran onto a longball by Wilson and tapped it past goalkeeper Michel Rousoi for a 1-1 draw in the 37th minute. The teams would enter the locker room drawn 1-1.

Shortly after the second half kickoff, Wilson took over. He stole an attempted back pass by Ricky Ezis and surprised Rousoi by tapping it between his legs to give the Wild a 2-1 lead in the 48th minute. Nine minutes later, defender David Leacock brought midfielder Darrell Bennett down in the 18 yard box, drawing a penalty, which Wilson cooly blasted past Rousoi for the final margin. When the final whistle sounded, the Wild's players all raced to the center circle and piled on top of each other in celebration.

"This is an incredible accomplishment," Wilson said. "It's something to give our country some pride in the midst of the war."
