OOC: Instead of posting in what seems like 18 different threads, lets just make this the one thread for the Latao Conflict.

IC: The Nedalian Navy had already made moves, leaving their respective ports and stationing just behind the Starblaydi Navy. With a full out assault on Latao inevitable, Nedalia were not going to risk anything this time and instead were going to take care of the nuclear warhead problem once and for all.

*Meanwhile in a Lamoni conference room*

The First Archon was flipping through some papers and finalizing an economic deal with President Stone, whe one of his aides cell-phones rang. Turning to the aide and giving him a rather nasty look, the aide smiled sheepishly, taking the phone and quickly leaving the room to answer the call. Just as the First Archon was about to ask a question about one of the fine points of their new alliance, the aide came running back in, his face red and the phone still attached to his hand.

"Yes? What's so important that you had to interrupt these talks?" The First Archon asked. The aide finally caught his breath. "Latao has declared war on Starblaydia after Starblaydia killed their delegation to here. Also, they say their nuclear weapons are going nowhere. However, Latao contends that they are now acting in self-defense." The First Archon slowly closed his folder and placed it on the table and then motioned for the aide to come close. "Notify General Hamar to begin some troop movements and exercises. Get our men read in case we need to enter this conflict. Also, get me the Director of the Special Service." The First Archon whispered to his aide. The aide nodded and quickly ran out of the room again.

Now that Lamoni had declared war on Latao, (OOC: in the IC Latao-Starblaydia talks thread) the long warm ups had proved well worth it. Lamonian troops were boarding troop ships, and the Navy was out in force, searching for any Latin ships dumb enough to be near Lamoni.

*In the conference room with Khazaron*

"First Archon," President Stone made it sound more like a question. "the Free Republic has officialy declared war on Latao. We have indications that Latao might have kidnapped our nuclear weapons experts, and retained their nukes for use against Starblaydia. Nedalia has already joined in the conflict, and my troops are almost all in their troopships. We're ready. Can we count on Khazaronian support in this conflict?"

Posted by: Khazaron Aug 10 2005, 12:23 PM
The First Archon simply smiled in reply and leaned over to his aide Johnathan. "Notify General Hamar that there has been a change of plans. Due to Latao's hoarding of nuclear weapons, and it's state of war with our allies, we are now at war with the Confederacy of Latao. Furthermore, tell him to gather 200,000 of his best men and join up with Admiral Calen in the port city of Aska. Give them explicit instructions to join up with the Starblaydian, Nedalian and Lamonian forces in Latao." Johnathan nodded as he got up out of his chair and prepared to go call back home to deliver the message. The First Archon raised his hand, grabbing Johnathan by the arm to stop him. "One more thing, tell the Director of the Special Service to add about, oh 200 or so of his best to those troops as well. I'll have need of their services." Johnathan's eyes seemed to widen for a moment, and then he nodded and quickly exited the room.

The First Archon turned to President Stone and nodded. "I believe our first course of action should be to soften their defenses, as well as come up with a plan on rescuing your team of experts Mr.President. What say you?"

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 10 2005, 12:28 PM
"I think that that would be a wonderful idea, First Archon." President Stone went on with, "I'm going to give the order to have Lamonian forces move south towards Latao; and your forces can meet up with them. In the meantime, we can have our militaries determine where Latao put their hostages, and how to get them out."

Port City of Aska, Khazaron
Thousands of troops began boarding the multiple battleships that had been lined up in the Askan harbor. Loved ones had gathered just outside of the loading ramps to the ships to wish the soldiers a farewell and to return home safely. Towards the back of the fleet, large carriers where being loaded up by military personell with tanks and artillery. Overseeing the loading process was a grey-haired man dressed in a red uniform, with four stars on the shoulders. "Be careful with that stuff men, those beauties cost our government a pretty penny to make." Somebody tapped the man on his shoulder and he turned around to be greeted by a much younger looking man with a brown goatee, balding head, and dressed in a white naval uniform. Smiling the man slapped his right handed fist over his heart in the traditional Khazaronian salute.

"Peace through Power General Hamar." The man in white said. "Peace through power Admiral Calen." The man in red said as he returned the salute. "How go our loading procedures?" Admiral Calen asked. General Hamar nodded with a stern look on his face as he watched the men board yet another tank. "Very good, we should be done before ngithfall. Your men ready to set sail by then?" Hamar asked. Admiral Calen nodded. "We could set sail now if you slow-pokes would just hurry up." Calen chuckled a bit as he said that. The General turned to him and grinned, then turned his attention back to his men loading the tanks. "You here that you sorry sons of curs?! Go faster!!!" A few of the men looked like they where about ready to collapse as they ran back to get the next one ready for loading.

The next morning

The Khazaronian Expeditionary Force had already made it out to international waters on where well on their way to joining up with the allied forces around Latao. On the deck of the flagship of the fleet, The Invictus, General Hamar and Admiral Calen stode watching out over the fleet. Admiral Calen turned to one of his men at the comm station. "Notify the Starblaydi, Nedalian, and Lamonian Generals that we are on our way."

Meanwhile, below deck, several soldiers where chatting with each other in the mess hall as several men in non-descript clothing walked by them and toke a seat together at the far end of the hall. "Is that who I think it is?" One of the soldiers asked. "I heard rumors." Another replied.

The Lamonian-built Destroyers and Air Craft Carriers flying under Nedalia's banner had began their push towards Latao, and the Southern Forces (approximately 250,000 men) were already on call, awaiting only the final desicion to push ahead for a full ground invasion of Latao. Commander Horacio had ordered heavy bombardment of Latin soil before such an invasion took place, but the Nedalian Forces were awaiting the arrival of Lamonian and Khazaronian troops, as well as the confirmation for attack from Starblaydia, before heading in.

Battle tanks, 4X4 Jeeps, Infantry Movement Vehicles, and all types of artillery was being set up on the 3 port cities of Honsfield, Frenna, and Brenelle. All were set up and ready to go, barring any major set backs. In the horizon, the "Red Sun" began to rise...

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 10 2005, 05:26 PM
The Lamonian invasion force steamed south towards Latao. While underway, they recieved word that Latao's leaders had fled their nation, but that didn't bother them one bit. It would just make the invasion easier.

Finally reaching the area around Latao, Gen. Smythe (who had helicoptered to the command ship as the ships were leaving their bases) was awaiting word from Lamonian High Command for when to strike.

Posted by: Nedalia Aug 10 2005, 08:45 PM
"Commander, word from Nedalia is that Latao's leaders have fled the country," called out the second-in-command.

"Then we will waste no time. I know Starblaydia hasn't moved its troops yet, but the word from the Lamonians is that they are racing towards Latao's northern shore. We shall land to the Northeast of the country and move in from there. Mobilize the troops and move out!"

With that command, the Nedalian Navy began loading up the 200,000 strong troops, while the aircraft carriers began making their moves into the sea. Pretty soon, the Nedalians would advance past the Starblaydi fleet and move right into Latao.

The F/A-80s lifted off from the carrier decks as the troopships steamed towards the Latin shores. Naval warships fired Tomahawks and five inch guns at Latin anti-air installations. The invasion of Latao had begun at dawn. As the first Lamonian shock troops landed on the Latin beaches, the Latin return fire seemed to slack off for a moment, as if the defenders couldn't believe what was going on.

Aboard the command ship, General Smythe, Admiral Torban, and the planning staff were reviewing their plans after the first units had secured their beacheads. "Where are allied forces?" asked General Smythe. Pointing at one spot on the holographic projection, the Generals aide; Colonel Shane said "Here are the Khazaronians. Depending on how fast they move, they'll be here within a day or so. The Nedalians are currently here through here, and the Starblaydis are here. We seem to be the first ones to actually invade Latao this time around, sir."

(OOC: I think that i'll leave this half finished for now)

Posted by: Nedalia Aug 12 2005, 12:16 PM
The word was spreading throughout the Nedalian ranks that the Lamonians had landed on Latin soil and were facing little resistance in their march to the capital. This was good news and the exact motivation the soldiers needed as they began their final run towards Latao's shore. The Adejaani-built aircrafts had already done a few rounds over the landing site and bombed the little pockets of Latin defences around the area. Commander Horacio could see the shore coming up. Behind, a voice cried out.

"Sir, we've landed. Our invasion has begun. The early signs suggest that the Latins are not going to put up too much of a fight."

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 13 2005, 01:48 AM
There had been little resistance to the joint invasion forces so far, leaving General Smythe to wonder if this weren't some Latin trick, or the real thing.

When the lead Lamonian forces started to reach the foothills of the mountains, they encountered more resistance. It had been the first seeming organized resistance that the Lamonian expeditionary force had faced since they landed in Latao with 500,000 troops, and 200 special forces soldiers. As the Lamonians faced the enemy, aerial recon established that the lead battalion of tanks was facing at least a Latin Heavy Mechanized Infantry Division. With this in mind, General Smythe had the tanks pull back as Lamonian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G5_howitzer pounded the enemy positions from 39km away. The Free Republic had used the money from the nuclear weapons sales to Latao in order to purchase the weapons and it was a worthy purchase. Smythe chuckled when he thought of this, saying, "Quite ironic that we are using Latin money to buy weapons to kill them with, eh?"

(EDIT: Lamoni, please don't make it out like you invented the G5 in six months, the Starblaydi Armaments Corp was producing those 'under license' before you even came to AO - Star)

"Over the last few days, naval and ground forces from the nations of Lamoni, Nadalia, Khazaron, and Starblaydia have been working to crush the despotic regime of Latao. This morning, we officially declare war on Latao, and send the KNS Secklow and a squadron of the KAF to join our existing fleet in the oceans east of Latao."

These were the words of Chairman Andrew Hessenthaler yesterday morning. This morning, Captain James Devereux of the KNS Secklow spoke on the ship's arrival to the disputed area.

"Krytenia expects, gentlemen, so let's get out there and t**t it!"

Posted by: Nedalia Aug 14 2005, 10:46 AM
Advancement was going as planned, with most of the resistance coming in the hills just off the northeast coast of Nedalia. So far, the total Nedalian deaths has amounted to somewhere near 550 troops, a relatively low number considering the amount of ground covered. None of the teams had met up with Lamonian forces yet, and with the news that Krytenia had sent back up as well gave the troops an extra motivational push. The march to the capital was going to be over in a matter of days rather than the originally expected weeks, and the cost in lives looked like it was going to be minimal.

Back in Nedalia, President Bren addressed the nation and reassured everyone that the "March to Peace" was going well, promising the return of the troops before the years end.

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 14 2005, 03:21 PM
It seemed that the farther into the mountains that the Lamonian forces got, the more resistance was put up by Latin forces. In a way, this made sense, since it was ideal defensive terrain, forcing their enemies to dig them out of their positions, and (hopefully) causing massive enemy casualties. The Lamonian forces responded with ground observers directing aircraft and artillery into areas controlled by the Latins. As the shells and bombs hit their targets, Lamonian infantry advanced up the mountains, and attempted to root out surviving Latin forces. At the same time, the Lamonian special forces troops had been parachuted deep into Latao, and were generally making life miserable for the Latin forces in their rear areas.

Back on the FRLS Nova (the Lamonian command ship), word had come to General Smythe that Krytenia had declared war on Latao, and was sending forces to join in the fight. The combined firepower of the Lamonian, Starblaydi, Nedalian, and Khazaronian forces were already estimated to be FAR too much for the Latin remnants to handle, so the entry of Krytenia into the war was seen to be like beating a dead horse. Either way, the Lamonian troops continued to advance as best they could.

"My Lord Orfosi," Lord-Commander General Fyreskar was in no mood to suck up to the Minister of Defence, but this time he had to, "are you aware of what Starblaydia's involvement in this campaign will bring us?"

"Glory," the Minister said porudly, "and lots of it."

"My Lord," Aerys was attempting to find a subtle way to put his point across, "what did we do to bring down Latao's government previously?"

"A surgcal, strategic bombing campaign."

"And what has prompted the government downfall this time?"

"Um." The Minister was lost for words. "Not very much."

"Precisely," Aerys knew he had him, "Twice we have shaken our fists at the Confederacy and twice their government has crumbled. To invade now would merely be a waste of time, money, resources and ultimately Starblaydi lives."

"Your point?"

"Let the babies have their conquest against a fallen opponent, we have bigger fish to fry."

With their mere presence having been enough to scare Latao into threatening the use of WMDs, the Starblaydi Battlegroup, codenamed Indris, headed back to port. The other, more warlike nations would handle this one, and there would be no turkey-shoot for the Starblaydi Navy. Not yet, at least.

"Sir the resistance seems to be growing as we approach the capital..."

"Is it anything we cannot easily handle, General?" replied Commander Horacio aboard The Dalutha, one of the navy's flagship carriers.

"No sir, nothing we can't squash in a matter of days," replied General Samuel.

"Alright then, proceed as plan. The NGM has already been given its orders to split from the rest of the forces and begin their search of the warheads. People seem to be forgetting that's the only reason we're in Latao."

"Sir, yes sir. And the what of our approach to the capital?"

"I want you to blockade the city, no more. Not a single soldier is to enter before the Lamonians get there, undersood? Once we receive confirmation that the Lamonians are with us, we shall ascend on the city with full force. Before then, I just want a blockade and bombing of military positions, AND ONLY MILITARY POSITIONS."

"Understood, sir."

"Oh, and I want a feed from the NGM squad atleast once an hour in their quest to locate the nuclear weapons."

"Yes sir."

Once the Lamonian forces had gotten past the mountains, the Latin opposition slacked off considerably. About 220 Lamonian infantrymen had died, but that wouldn't even slow down the Lamonian Expeditionary Force. With the tanks back in the lead, the Lamonian forces steadily advanced towards the Latin capitol.

In the meantime, behind Lamonian lines; more Lamonian nuclear experts were searching for any hidden nuclear weapons that they could find. They had the map coordinates of the last transmission between the first team and the Free Republic, but the Latins might well have moved them by now.

The Lamonian special forces units were far in advance of the main Lamonian force, and they were looking for where Latao could have hidden their kidnapees.

Bridge of the KNV Invictus

Admiral Calen stode amidst a group of bustling sailors on the bridge of his flagship. Several of them where at the comm stations, relaying many messages to the other members of the fleet, coordinating their landing preparations. The landing forces had already begun assembling, the fleet itself was a couple of hours from the Latin shores. Turning calmly to a blonde haired sailor looking at some data on the radar station, and checking off some things on a clipboard he had, the Admiral cleared his throat. "Sailor!" he shouted at the blonde man witht he clipboard. The man startled and looked up, standing at attention as the Admiral looked him over. "How stand the Latin costal defenses?" The Admiral asked. The blonde sailor smile nervously, looked at his clipboard quickly and turned back to the Admiral. "According to our intel the Latin forces are attempting to reinforce their defenses around the capital, attempting to halt the Lamoni and Nedalian forces. What defense they have are slim."

The Admiral nodded at the blonde sailor. "What about submarines or other defenses designed to impede our progress?" Admiral Calen asked. The sailor looked at his clipboard again and smiled. "Again Admiral, most have been moved moved up north to cause havoc with the other members of the invasion. They do appear to still have some light defenses and also seem to be in the process of deploying some mines in the water to halt any landing craft." Crossing his arms, the Admiral looked like the anicent collosus of Rhodes as he turned to another sailor at the comm station. "Notify the fleet to take it slow and stop several miles out so we don't run in to any of thos Latin suprises. Also, deploy some countermeasures, I don't want to loose half our force before we even land." The comm sailor nodded at the Admiral's instructions and began sending the message.

Meanwhile below deck

General Hamar shut the metal door behind him and slowly walked over to the podium and rested his hands on the sides. Before him, sitting in multiple school desks, sat several of the men who had been wearing the non-descript clothing before. The thing was, that now they where dressed in wet-suits and sporting some rather fierce looking camoflage paint. Next to many of them sat some of their semi-auto rifles and air-tight backpacks. Nodding at the men, who numbered at about twenty, the General began his briefing. "Good evening to you gentleman. I'm sure the Director of the Special Service has already notified you of why you are here, so I'll be brief." Pressing a button on the podium, a large map of Latao was illuminated on a display behind him. General Hamar pointed to the northeast and the northwest. "Our allies are advancing south towards the Latin capital from these positions. We also know that Lamoni has dispatched several special forces in an attempt to rescue their experts. We expect to be coming up along the southern end of Latao, just about here." General Hamar pointed just southeast of Latao. "As you no doubt already know, there are some mines and light defenses already deployed at our projected landing area. You men, however, will not be waiting for them to be softened up by countermeasures, you will be leaving as soon as this brefing is over."

The General pushed the button, turning off the map behind him. "Your objective will be to aide the Lamoni in their quest to rescue their men. However, as I speak, other Special Service men are being prepped to go in and disable any silos and anti-aircraft stations they find. You need not worry yourself about those though. The lives of those Lamoni experts is paramount to you. Allow nothing..." The General paused briefly for dramatic effect. "...and I mean NOTHING, get in the way of you and your objective. Once you land, split up into five teams of four each. Move swift, and efficently." The men nodded at General Hamar. "Dismissed!" With those words the General watched as the men quickly gathered their bags and rifles, leaving the room in a hurry.

Several hours later

With torpedoes and depth charges taking care of any Latin attempts to counter the landing vessles, the Khazaronian invasion was underway. The initial wave, light transport ships, would deploy several thousand men to secure the beachead and make it safe fore the mechanized forces and artillery to be deployed. On one particular boat, sloshing throught he rough waves, a lieutenant turned to adress his men. "Remember men, our leader is watching! Make sure he is not ashamed!" The nodded and even a few let out a roar as they griped onto their M16 rifles.

Not long after, the boat made landfall, encountering severe gunfire from machine nests above the beach, as well as some artillery fire exploding near their vessle as they ran from the boat, letting out a vicious war cry as they leapt from the boat. All up and down, several other boats where landing and letting out their cargo. Shouting war-cries, the men surged forward, kneeling down and laying down covering fire, allowing their fellow soldiers who where still disembarking, time to get into position for the push. A few of the last landing vessles where caught in the middle of artillery fire and exploding in giant red and orange plumes of flame.

Try as hard as the Latin forces did, they couldn't seem to halt the landing force from amassing on their shores. Within an hour the Khazaronian forces had managed to secure several of the machine gun nests on the beach and had neutralized half of the artillery. The remaining men began to surrender as the situation appeared more and more hopeless for the Latin defenders.

As General Smythe was working on the dispositions of the Lamonian forces ashore, there was a knock on the door. It turned out to be Colonel Shane, and he reported that the Khazaronian forces were landing on Latao's southern shores.

Nodding, the General asked how the search for the nukes and the experts was progressing. "We have yet to find either of our objectives, but we expect that Latao would have hidden both objectives deep inside their own defenses by now. If I had to bet, we'll find both of them here." The Colonel pointed to a spot that was in the exact center of the pocket of Latin controlled territory. According to the map, it was really an unremarkable area, with nothing that would bring attention to it. Basically, it held a lot of farms. "You base this on what, Colonel?," the General wanted to know.

"Sir, it's the only place that would make sense. It's an unremarkable area that one wouldn't think much of from a military point of view; unlike some cave in the mountains which we would be more likely to look for. Second, there is a heavy concentration of Latin forces there, and they wouldn't be there unless there is a reason. Especially since they are severely outnumbered."

"Colonel, send twenty Special Forces troops to that area. That should tell us if you are correct."

"Yes sir."

After securing the southern coast of Latao, the Khazaronian Expeditionary Force began to set up makeshift docks to begin landing their larger equipment. Due to the excellent organization skills of General Hamar, Admiral Calen, and their respective staffs, the unloading went rather quick and by the next day all equipment had been unloaded as was already being prepped to move north and meet up with the Lamonian and Nedalian forces near the capital.

General Hamar had established his main base camp several miles north of the beachead where his forces had landed, in a small Latin village. Needless to say the locals weren't exactly happy at the presence of armed soldiers in their town, or the fact that the Khazaronians where taking most of their food and supplies to fuel the war effort, but it did provide for some stability in light of the evacuation of the government.

As the ground troops where securing the lands just north of their landing zone, ferreting out thos of the Latin Armed Forces that remained in the region, the 1st,3rd and 5th Armored Divisions, along with a generous compliment of artillery, began the hard push north. Their goal was to soften up the Latin forces and get rid of any enemy amored units or artillery nests, in order to make it easier for ground forces to secure the strategic points between there and the capital.

Meanwhile, the Latin forces seemed to have caught on to the Khazaronian movements in the south and where sending some troops to try and reinforce the region. However, the troops found it hard to mobilize or communicate as reports started to drift in that several Latin Comm Stations, as well as military outposts had been attacked by an unknown force. And of course, the Special Service group dispatched by General Hamar was slowly working its' way up North, after managing to secure some information that the Lamonian experts where being held up their.

The NGM was quick and ruthless in its pursuit after the nuclear warheads. They had already advanced to central Latao, with the final destination being the mountains in the western part of the country. There was suspicions that the warheads might have been moved somewhere else since the latest batch of intelligence, but it was still a good place to look.

They were quick to wipe out any resistance they faced, and their stealth allowed them to go mostly undetected. The Nedalian Forces were already establishing themselves outside the capital, awaiting the arrival of the Lamonian forces, so that objective looked pretty much set. It was now on the NGM to locate the warheads and complete their second objective....

Reaching a strangely unnamed river just outside the Latin capitol, the Lamonian forces waited until the final assault on the capitol (OOC: whatever he named it) would begin. All that was holding up the assault was the advance of the Khazaronian forces that were coming up from the south.

Meanwhile, the special forces troops were on their way to the 'supposed' location of the hostages, and the nukes. Despite the fact that the Latin capitol was pretty much surrounded, the troops stationed at the remote farmland hadn't moved at all. It was reasoned that the force was either a decoy, or that they were much more likely to be gaurding something that the Latins thought was of high importance.

From the point of view of the experts, they were bruised and bloodied from the repeated beatings that they had suffered from their time in Latin captivity. They had even been beaten with bamboo sticks, and that was VERY painful.

"Mr Chairman, the Khazaron-Lamonian forces are ripping through the nation of Latao, and the Starblaydi Navy have decided to take their battleships and go home."

"Hmm, I do believe this leaves us as the main offshore prescence. Tell the officers to patrol the seas, and take out anything that looks suspicious. Oh, and recall the Boartusk, Unity and Linford."

"Yussir."

In the distance the Corporal could say six Latin tanks headed their way. Turning to the other tanks in his group, positioned in a V pattern, he raised his hand back and forcefully brought it down in the direction of the Latin tanks, shouting: "Give em hell!!" With that the grouping of twelve Khazaronian tanks toke off and began firing on the six Latin tanks. Due to their outdated nature, the Khazaronian force lost four of their own number before defeating the Latin tanks. All across southern Latao, it was the same story, Khazaronians, while outnumbering the Latin defenders, were still suffering some rather nasty casualties, due to the overwhelming number of outdated equipment they had. Still, the resolve of the KEF was strong, and they kept pushing forward. Already they where 3/4 of the way to their objective at the Latin capital.

All armored divisions had been deployed and were wreaking havoc on Latin defense positions, making them ripe for the coming of the Khazaronian Infantry. One particular city had seen a rather nasty urban battle between Khazaronian and Latin forces. Apparently the Latins had established the area as a major resupply base for their forces in the capital. The situation got bad enough to warrant General Hamar to send the 7th-11th armored divisions in to begin shelling the city. When all was said and done the Khazaronian Infantry toke control of a city in flames. To their credit though, they infantry began helping put the fires out and restoring order in the ruined city.

As Khazaronian forces where coming ever closer to their objective of the Latin capital, the Special Service men had managed to secure most of the Anti-Aircraft, and missle silos in southern Latao, leaving only a handful of them left, located in the area just north of the Khazaronian Army's current position.

Total Khazaronian Casualties:
Infantry:1,384
Tanks:14
Aircraft:5
Sea Vessels:4(All of which where landing craft for the initial invasion.)

While the invasion in the mainland of Latao was going smoothly, the island to the east (Nyssa) had seen no military action taken against it. That is until about 35,000 Nedalian troops landed on its northern and eastern shores just after midnight, under direct orders of President Bren himself. By night-time the next day, the entire island, based on the information received portraying the Latin defenses, would be under Nedalian control. Little resistance was expected, and minimal cost in lives would follow.

The KEF HQ was abuzz with various personell packing up the equipment and preparing for the move north. General Hamar himself was overseeing much of it. Just a few hours ago he had recieved notice that the last noticeable obstacle to the advance on the capital, a rather sizeable contigent of Latin regular infantry, had withdrawn to a rather un-remarkable speck of land(OOC Note: The one where the Lamoni experts are.) As several Privates where securing the last bit of cargo onto the back of an army truck, the General climbed up into the passenger seat of a Jeep and with a loud roar pointed north and shouted: "To the Capital, and to Victory!" A loud shout came in reply from the troops that had been loaded onto the various vehicles, and continued even as they drove off north. Of course the General was going to leave behind enough men to maintain control of the village, but the majority would be coming with him to help oversee the Khazaronian assault on the Latin capital.

The Lamonian special forces troops had finally made it to within gun sight of where it was thought that the experts were being held. The Latins were there alright, but there as yet no indications of the hostages being held there. The problem was that the Latins were surrounding several farms, and they'd have to pick the right one to make contact with the enemy worthwhile. Worse yet, with the sheer number of Latin troops about, recon of the farms would be suicide. So, the soldiers called out for more troops on their encrypted UHF single sideband satellite radios.

As the main KEF force was getting into position around the southern part of the Latin capital, the select Special Service force was making it's way to the outer perimeter of Latin camp suspected of holding the Lamoni experts. In total, only ten of the Khazaronian Special Service group had made it to the area, with the other ten still enroute. The leader of the group there, a rather gruff looking brown-haired individual covered in camo, was looking through his binoculars at the base. After a few minutes the man shoke his head and placed the binoculars back in their pouch. Turning to his men, who like him where all laying prostrated on the ground, he whispered:"That place is way to heavily guarded for us to do anything but sit here and relay intell on the situation. We're going to need a heavy strike force in order to penetrate their defenses."

One of the men laying to the far right of the group replied. "It looks like most of the men here are the leftovers from our attacks in the south. That would explain why we where having such an easy time plowing through those suckers. They where all being recalled to reinforce the defenses around here. It makes sense really, it's the Latins last bargaining chip." The leader turned and nodded at his comrade. "Right." the leader said, then turned to the comm officer of the group. "Get on the wire and tell the General about the situation. I don't suspect they can spare any men right now, so we'll just sit tight until they can. But, if they can, have them send up some more Special Service guys to help strengthen our presence. As far as I know, we're the only ones out here." The comm officer nodded in reply and the grabbed the walkie-talkie and began relaying the message back to HQ.

Now that all three of the allied nations were surrounding the Latin capital, it was time for the attack to begin. Lamonian artillery opened up on the town in preperation for the infantry to enter and take the city. The bridges across the river were all ready for the assault to begin, and the infantry made use of them as they headed into the Latin capital, weapons blazing at likely spots for enemy troops to be hiding.

As soon as the Lamoni forces began attacking the Latin capital, the Khazaronian artillery and tanks moved into position. Forming a series of lines outside the captial, the tanks and artillery began firing on the defensive positions the Latin defenders had taken up. Within a couple of hours signifigant damager had already been delivered to the Latins, forcing many of them to fall back deeper into the city. General Hamar called for the tanks to give chase, with the infantry following close behind to "mop up" any remaining troops the tanks may have missed.

Upon receiving word of the Lamonian and Khazaronian attacks on the city, the Nedalian Forces began their push westwards into the suburbs. Instead of using mortar attacks, which the two other allied nations were doing, Commander Horacio had ordered the troops to move in and secure the eastern suburbs of the city, then hold off until the Khazarions had secured the south and Lamoni the north.

On the other hand, the NGM fighters had made their way to the west of the country in attempt to locate what they believed were the rogue missiles. They had received word that the Latin forces were bunching up in the farmland outside of the capital, presumingly guarding the Lamonian hostages and the nuclear warheads, but Nedalian intelligence claimed that the nuclear warheads were never in the possession of the old government, thus making it highly unlikely they were guarded by former government supporters. The nukes, claimed the NIA, were still in the mountains, in the hands of Osmec radicals who still had hopes of gaining power over the war ravaged nation.

Pushing the Latin troops deeper into the city, Lamonian G5 Howitzers were busy destroying the Latin Federal House. When that building had likely burned to the ground, the Lamonian guns shifted to a fire support mode for the troops and tanks that were busily blasting away at the Latin forces like the four horsemen of the apocolypse.

Here, a sergeant held onto a live grenade until four seconds were left, and threw it at a Latin machine gun nest, immolating it when the Latins couldn't get rid of the grenade fast enough. There, a tank mercilessly took out a platoon of Latin troops that were running from one destroyed building to another. At yet another place, a lucky artillery shot collapsed a shot up building right on top of another concentration of Latin troops.

At the same time, an operation was begun to use paratroopers to capture a Latin air base so that Lamonian planes would have extended range and a emergency landing strip. That this base would put Lamonian fighter/bombers in range of both the Omsec controlled mountains, AND the group of remaining Latin troops, was no accident. On the other hand, this would be an excellent opportunity to show off the vaunted Latin 'black hole' cloaking device for what it really was, a fake.

The Khazaronian forces began to cease their indescriminate use of artillery fire as they moved further into the Latin capital. With the military and civillian buildings becoming more tightly packed together it would be far more effective for them to use infantry to seize and secure the various sections of the city. The tanks would be used as back-up in case the fighting began to spiral out of control. With the Lamonian forces having secured the area in and around the Latin Federal Building, the Khazaronian forces toke it upon themselves to seize any anti-aircraft sites and the industrial sector of the capital, as it seemed to be supplying a great deal of the supplies to the remaining Latin forces in the country.

Due to the importance of the industrial sector, the Khazaronian forces were forced to relocate several armored divisions in order to be able to secure the area. It seemed the Latins where trying everything they could to prevent the Khazaronians from seizing the lifeblood of their war capabilities. Buildings crumbled, letting out billowy clouds of dust as thunderous sounds of tank fire could be heard amongst the battle cries of men. It looked like this would be a rather tough fight for each side.

The Lamonian forces showed no mercy to the Latin defenders, chasing and rooting them out wherever they chose to flee. It would not be long before the Lamonian forces had seized their half of the city. The plans to attack the remaining large concentration of Latin troops were already being drawn up with obeservations from the special forces troops in the area. One of the so called Lamonian 'supermen' had managed to silently kill a Latin soldier and steal his uniform, allowing him to roam around the armed pocket pretty much at will.

Meanwhile, all of the Latins at the captured airbase had finally either surrendered or been killed. The assault was so sudden that the victorious Lamonian forces had even managed to capture five Latin fighters, a C-130 transport, and a tanker plane. The newly captured base and planes were checked for booby traps, and were finally declared safe to use after two hours. That's when the Lamonian planes started to fly into the base nicknamed Rome by the LAF. The base would allow for an emergency landing strip, as well as a secure shore based HQ for the Lamonian forces.

Posted by: Khazaron Aug 29 2005, 04:17 PM
The fog of gunsmoke, gas, and dust cleared to reveal a multitude of Khazaronian fighters taking cover behind and long line of building rubble as they toke shots at the Latin defenders and attempted to break through the blockade of howitzers, tanks and machine gun nests blocking their path into a series of long industrial buidldings. Three tanks flanked the troops on either side, but had been forced to hold their fire due to the likelihood of them hitting the complex as well, as the defenders where keeping a very close proximity to it.

A gruff looking gentleman ran up to another soldier with a pair of binoculars. "Captain sir, our scouts report at least a total of 150 men guarding the facility. There's at least a third of them up front and the other two-thirds spread throughout the facility." The captain placed the binoculars down next to him, only to have them shattered seconds later by Latin gunfire. Ducking behind the rubble to avoid anymore Latin bullets, the captain turned to the gruff soldier. "150!!?" The captain swore under his breath. "What could they possibly have in that place worth that many lives? This is madness. We'll be here forever." A few more grenades where thrown, exploding and sending the Latins manning a series of machine gun nest flying into the air like rag dolls. Just as they fell to the ground however, several more rushed up to take their place with gunfire.

Seeming frustrated, the Captain swore again as he tried to contemplate his next move. As he seemed about ready to speak, a group of men crawled their way to the rubble where the Khazaronians where from behind a mass of twisted metal that at one point was part of a Latin parking lot, carrying RPGs on their backs. The captain turned and noticed them and smiled broadly. "Hot damn!" he said. "I was wondering when you boys'd get here." The men unshouldered their RPGs and toke up position evenly among the Khazaronian troops. The captain called for covering fire to distract the defenders as the demo experts placed their shots. Seconds later a huge explosion rocked the Latin defense position and flames plumed into their in brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows as several rockets found their homes in amongst various troops, howitzers and machine gun nests.

Not wasting time, the Captain turned to his men and shouted. "Take the building men, charge!" The force of Khazaronian infantry surged forward, a few men being taken down by snipers on the roof, who where in turn taken out by their Khazaronian equivalent. The fighting was fierce and bloody once the Khazaronians broke through the wall of the complex. Gunfire amongst the two forces laster for about another three hours as the Khazaronians hunted down every last Latin defender and shot them. At the same time the tanks where moved in to help set up an ad hoc defensive line while the troops searched the buildings.

In one building, that had been marked Top Secret, they found what appeared to be several crude drawings. At first they where mistaken for children's drawings that the commander of the facility had perhaps placed around his desk to remind him of home, but upon closer inpspection they revealed something different. One page in parcticular had a crude plane figure drawn in blue crayon with wavy yellow lines drawn around it. Beneath the plane was the picture of a smaller plane with and addition symbol next to it and then a black circle next to it, with and equals sign and the words invisible written their with backwards S. After laughing their collected butts off, the troops composed themselves as the Captain turned and smiled. "Looks like we found the Latin Cloaking Project."

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 30 2005, 12:28 PM
As word of what the Latin Cloaking project really was spread throughout the allied forces, you could hear the laughter all over Latao. Assuming that the allied forces were laughing at THEM, the few remaining Latin troops in their capital started shooting with renewed vigor. The only remaining major battle to be fought in the city was in the industrial complex, and Khazaronian forces were dealing with that. The Lamonian forces were mopping up any last resistance before heading for the big remaining pocket of Latin forces.

Meanwhile, Lamonian troops had managed to bring some embedded reporters in to take a look at the captured Latin R&D facility. Of particular interest to the news crew (after they finally finished laughing their butts off), were the crayon drawings of the Latin cloaking project. They decided that this (and the other laughable Latin 'projects') were good enough to base a broadcast on.

"Good morning viewers from Lamoni and around AO. We are currently walking towards a Latin military R&D facility. (the camera shows an attractive female reporter walking towards the building) Now that we are inside, we are joined by the highest ranking Lamonian officer currently in this section of the Latin capital city. Major Bruno, firstly, how is the war going to date?"

(the camera shows a somewhat short but well built guy with grey just starting to show in his otherwise brown hair)

"We are currently routing the Latin forces on all fronts. The only real pocket of resistance left is in the Latin south, but the allied forces will finish them off when we are finished here."

(OOC: R will be for the reporter, B for Bruno)

R: "What of the Lamonian nuclear experts being held by the remnants of this failed regime? Have they been found yet?"

B: "We have reason to believe that they are being held in the area with the remaining Latin forces, and are continuing to move the needed forces into place. It won't matter if the Latins know this now, we have them under surveilance from aircraft flying from a covert facility."

R: "I see; and what are those papers that you are carrying?"

B: [I]"These are the drawings of the Latin aircraft cloaking project. (he takes a page out from the stack to show it off) As you can verify, all of the other pages dealing with the subject are exactly the same. Crayon drawings. The Khazaronian forces that captured this facility tell me that they almost mistook these for children's drawings at first, but they seem to be how Latao does their R&D. I should say, what passes for their R&D, anyway. (Bruno shows the rest of the pages before giving them back to the Khazaronians)

R: "I see; thank you Major."

B: "Anytime."

His task of getting the sorry state of things in Latao to the outside world completed, Major Bruno then went on with his intelligence duties, helping the Khazaronians with finding and... 'attempting' not to laugh at the continued series of crayon drawings.

The man literally jumped out of the jeep while it was still moving and ran towards the commander's tent. The eastern part of Latao was completely under Nedalian control, making it safe for Commander Horacio to come ashore, setting up just off the coast in what was dubbed "Camp Drubbeyreh". The information he carried was of vital importance.

INSIDE THE TENT:

"Very well, let him in," declared the Commander.

The man, short of breathe and panting, walked in and took a seat. The Commander offered him a cup of water and allowed him to catch his breathe.

"Sir, the NGM force has located the nuclear warheads in western Latao. They are awaiting orders to engage in combat with the small group of Omsec supporters guarding the weapons," the man said.

"How many men have made in that far?" asked the Commander.

"All 304 of them, sir."

"And what of the Latin forces?"

"They calculate that they number just over 500, commander."

"The NGM, they say they can take them?"

"Sir, they are locked, loaded, and ready to go."

"Is that what they said?"

"Sir, they said they have hard-ons just thinking about going into this battle."

"You got me laughing on that one!, very well then. Lets finish this campaign off."

"I will inform them right away, sir."

The fighting began to subside in the industrial and southern sectors of the Latin capital. Slowly but surely the one stalwart defenders began to surrender or be overrun by the much better equipped Khazaronians. Due to the loss of their main source of supplies in the industrial sector, many of the Latins found themselves running short on ammunition, armor and things that go boom. Morale was said to be dropping like a stone amonst the Latins, with talks of a total surrender of the last stronghold in the Khazaronian held part of the city becoming more and more common. The Latins had managed to hole themselves up in a rather large high-school campus, surrounding it with all of their remaining troops and guns. Apparently the recent outbreak of laughter at the discovery of their R&D center had made these soldiers all the more determined to hold their ground, if only out of spite to the allied force.

Khazaronian tanks and artillery surrounded the campus, with infantry waiting just outside of the circle of the armored divisions. Hours passed on as everyone became more impatient for the surrender to be sent. One soldier was said to have remarked: "This is suicide, if they don't surrender they'll be crushed." It turns out that the soldiers words where prophetic as two hours later the commander in charge of the siege was given orders by General Hamar himself to level the building to the ground, after discovering that the area was clear of any possible civilian casualties. The shelling itself lasted for 45 minutes, and when it was over a large waft of gray and black smoke billowed up from where the last semblance of Latin power in the capital had been.

Khazaronian forces spent the next several hours securing the various positions in their territory by ferreting out any last ditch efforts by Latin soldiers, as well as setting up security checkpoints and base camps throughout the ruins of the city.

As for the southern parts of Latao, pacification had already been well under way. When it became clear to the Latin defenders in the south that the Khazaronians obviously had the upper hand, most either fled to the capital city or this small parcel of land where it had been rumored that the Lamonian experts where being held. Thus it had been a relatively easy job for the Khazaronians to secure the area, only a few partisan bands had sprung up in the various cities and towns, and they mostly began to surrender or collapse after the news of the fall of the Latin capital reached them. By order of General Hamar, all of southern Latao had been placed under martial law, with Khazaronian troops patrolling the highways and streetcorners. A curfew of 5 p.m. had been set and anyone caught violating it, or supporting the Latin partisans and army would be shot on sight.

Posted by: Lamoni Aug 31 2005, 02:10 PM
Now that the Latin Capital had been dealt with, a Lamonian cargo plane landed at Rome. Inside were the frozen bodies of the Latin diplomatic delegation that had been killed by the Starblaydis. A presidential order was now being enforced as the bodies were buried under the remains of the Latin Federal House, which would one day become a garden.

As in the Khazaronian controlled portions of Latao, the Lamonian western sector was under a strict curfew begining at 5 PM. Anyone even suspected of supporting the Latin army or partisans would be shot. (OOC: The allied nations are eventually going to have to create a map showing which nation occupies what territory)

Preperations were being made with the Khazaronian military leaders for a joint attack on the remaining major pocket of Latin resistance. So far, the joint discussions were going well, even as the first Lamonian mothballed military equipment was being turned over to Khazaron, and the training of those Khazaronian military units still in Khazaron was starting.

In the aftermath of the fall of the Latin capital, General Hamar and his staff had moved their HQ into the center of their section of control in the city. After their defenses where set up and their area secure, the General toke a ride in an armored SUV to the Lamonian center of command to meet with their commander to discuss strategy.

After arriving, he created the commander warmly, but with a stark look on his face he said: "I suppose this leaves only that area where your experts are being kept, correct? Our intelligence in the area says it's pretty heavily guarded against anything but an all out assault. What do your boys say?" The General asked, hoping that they where both getting the same intel, or this op might be alot harder than anticipated.

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 1 2005, 09:24 PM
"Henry, come in," called out Commander Horacio.

"Yes sir, how may I be of service?"

"I believe the capital has fallen into Allied hands. We havent had any contact with our fellow invaders. I want Sergeant Grondar to go over to the Lamonian HQ base and General Bitten to the Khazaronian HQ base. I want them there in no less than 4 hours."

"Yes sir, I will inform them."

(OOC: In case anyone wants to RP the arrival of the Generals, presume they have taken the trip.)

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 2 2005, 10:02 AM
General Bitten was welcomed to the Khazaronian HQ by a personel aide of the General. Dressed in the red uniform of the Khazaronian military and bearing a Colonels insignia, the man approached the Nedalian General and slapped his right fist over his hear in the traditional salute of his people. "Apologies General Bitten. General Hamar has stepped out for a moment to speak with the Lamonians on planning the assault to rescue the experts. He hopefully wont be gone long. You can wait here if you like, I can assure you we will make every effort to make your stay a most comfortable one."

(OOC: W00T! 100 posts!:))

While the joint discussions between the Khazaronian and Lamonian generals were underway, a Nedalian Sergeant (OOC: or did you mean General, Nedalia?) came up to the Lamonian gaurds at the base who were wearing standard Lamonian wartime uniforms ( http://www.tridentarms.com/New-Photos14/cuban-4s.jpg ). After a call to General Smythe, the man was escorted to the map room. "Hello sergeant, as i'm sure you know, I am General Smythe, and this is Khazaronian General Hamar. What brings you here?"

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 2 2005, 07:00 PM
General Hamar turned to the Nedalian commander that had just arrived and slapped his fist over his heart. "Greetings." he said, then turning his attention back to General Smythe.

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 2 2005, 07:30 PM
OOC: Yes, sorry about the mistake, I meant General Grondar.

IC:

"Greetings, fellow allies," proclaimed General Grondar. "I have been sent by Commander Horacio as the official messenger and official strategizer from our part. He informed me that any sector of the Nedalian Armed Forces in Latao are ready for any moves you might want to make. I am also here to tell you that the NGM has located the nuclear warheads in western Latao, and they are being guarded by rogue Omsec supporters. As we speak, the NGM should be eliminating what we hope is the final frontier in the battle for those warheads. The question is, what do we do with them?"

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 2 2005, 07:35 PM
General Hamar smiled broadly and turned to face General Grondar. "Most excellent new General. I'm glad to here we wont have to worry about those nut-case followers of Omsec having the ability to scour this place of life." He then stopped to think for a moment. "As for what to do with them, I say we destroy them as safely as possible. It has been the observation of my government that nuclear weapons are to unstable and destructive to be trusted in any human hands. What say you General?" General Hamar said this last part as he turned to face General Smythe.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 3 2005, 07:39 PM
[I]"My government was going to safely dispose of the weapons if Latao handed them over, and I do not foresee that this will change when the weapons are recovered by your forces, General Grondar. As for what was going on before you arrived, General Hamar and I were talking about how to take out the last pocket of Latin resistance. This is also where we think that the Lamonian nuclear weapons experts are being held. We were thinking of having our special forces troops parachute in, and then have the main body attack. Do you have any ideas, General?"[I] For General Smythe, this was something of a speech.

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 4 2005, 09:10 AM
"All it calls for is a simple decoy mission. We send end armed forces from one side to make it seem like we're going to fullout assault them, then we send the special forces in from the "backdoor", if you will, while their entire attention and firepower is focused on the army. We minimize lives lost, and we find a way to save the Lamonian hostages without having to worry about killing them ourselves."

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 4 2005, 06:20 PM
"That sounds like a plan," Smythe said, "Now all we have to do is to figure out what direction to attack them from. They are going to be expecting us to come straight at them from the capital, so I would bet you that they are laying mines and making obstacles. What I propose is that we loop around them; staying far enough away that they can't see us, and attack them from the rear with the main force. Then we'll have the paratroopers land where they will be least expected. In the meantime, we can have fighter bombers knock out any anti-air defenses that the Latins might have. Agreed?"

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 4 2005, 06:30 PM
General Hamar nodded in agreement with General Smythe. "Sounds like a plan. But may I suggest something? How about a double fake on our attack. If they are expecting an attack from the front, why not send one to make them think that? That way they prepare for it there, get distracted when our other diversion comes in from behind, and finally are completely overwhelmed when our special forces parachute in. We could give the idea that my men and I are overconfident from our victory here, and are going to try and take them head on, making the double-deception more believable."

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 4 2005, 06:39 PM
Nodding in agreement, Smythe said, "Yes, that would work. Have the Khazaronian forces attack from the front, the Nedalians and Lamonians from the rear. Like you said, they'll be overwhelmed. I think that we should find out exactly where the nuclear experts are being held BEFORE we attack. After all, we don't want to give the Latins a chance to kill them off. That won't stop our attack, but it will look bad. What about you, General Grondar?"

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 5 2005, 02:05 AM
"That sounds fine with me. Ofcourse, our main perogative is the safety of the hostages, so I suggest we send it a stealth team, perhaps a combination of our best special forces personnel, to breach through and identify the hostages. If things go bad and they are found out, we'll be in place, as to what we just agreed on, move in on them. After we've pounded and distracted them, we send in the paratroops. But ofcourse, this is assuming our special forces havent gotten the hostages out in time. If they have, then we just bomb the living -explicitive removed- out of the Latins."

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 5 2005, 04:03 PM
"All right, we seem to have a plan. Now we need to execute it. You are both welcome to stay here and coordinate the attack if you wish, or have underlings do that."

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 5 2005, 04:09 PM
General Hamar crossed his arms and furrowed his brow, thinking to himself for a moment and the nodded. "I think it might be best that we coordinate the attacks from a single location, so as to avoid any possible slip-ups. If you don't mind General Smythe, I would like to send for some of my command staff to come here, so that I might begin the preparations for the assault."

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 5 2005, 08:19 PM
"I have no objections. Bring whomever you feel that you need."

It was going to be fun decimating the Latins, Smythe thought.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 6 2005, 09:17 PM
It toke several hours for General Hamar to get his staff and equipment set up in the Lamonian camp, in order to create a more efficient central command for the upcomming operation. After things where finished, the General began to order the necessary troop movements to begin, to place them in position just south of the position of the last pocket of Latin resistance. The local special-ops team was in near-constant contact with him and kept him up-to-date on the Latin defenders and their positions. While all of this was going on, at a Khazaronian airfield that had been set up several miles outside of the capital, the rest of the special-ops teams where being prepped and ready to parachute in once the operation was underway. General Hamar had given explicit instructions not to begin any more movements than what had already been ordered, until the "command" was given.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 7 2005, 02:36 PM
The Lamonian troops were preparping for their joint assault with Nedalia on the other end of the Latin encampment. Of course, a lot of that time had been spent getting to know the Nedalians and making sub-unit plans.

Even the paratroops were getting to know their Khazaronian and Nedalian counterparts. Though, the paratroops were still trying to decide who would be in overall command of that operation.

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 10 2005, 07:04 PM
The NGM had lost a grand total of 3 men, with 5 injured. Helicopters were already on their way to tend them, but the battle was over. The nuclear weapons were in safe hands, and before long, they were going to be loaded up and shipped over to what was now Nedalian colonized territory. This mission....was over.

The hostages, however, were still captive. With the 3 Generals devising plans and strategizing, it was not going to be long before that mission would be accomplished as well. It was known that they were waiting on all the Nedalian paratroopers, and, as the Khazaronians and the Lamonian know very well, Nedalians are never on time. However, they had finally gotten into position, and were awaiting the final command to go.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 10 2005, 09:36 PM
Back at the command center, General Smythe looked at his two counterparts and said, "I am of the opinion that we should hit the Latins at three in the morning. It's the ABSOLUTE worst time for human reaction times, which would give us an advantage; and in this business, you create your own luck. Agreed?"

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 11 2005, 09:48 PM
General Hamar nodded at General Smythe. "Agreed." He said. "I'll radio in the order for my troops to begin assaulting the Latin base with artillery just a little before then. That should make them nice and squishy for your arrival." General Hamar let out an evil grin, then tapped his hand on a layout of the Latin base, placing his index finger just a few inches away from where the front gate was. "My intelligence tells me that the Latin minefiled begins at this area. Fortunately for us, they have been so ill-equipped since the fall of their major production centers that they haven't had the ability to place as many mines as we where expecting. It's still dangerous no doubt, but my artillery should still be able to get within range to pound the living crap out of them." With that General Hamar excused himself to go radio his troops and give the order.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 12 2005, 02:02 PM
At three exactly, the Lamonians advanced on the Latins as the Khazaronian artillery was still killing the Latins off. At the same time, the planes loaded with the paratroopers were taking off, heading for their assigned targets. The hopes of three nations were riding with these elite warriors, and they would do their best.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 12 2005, 02:32 PM
As per General Hamar's orders, the artillery had advanced to just outside of the minefield near the entrance to the Latin stronghold. In the early-morning, with most of the guards near the base asleep or taking a relaxed watch-out for threats, the men began positioning their artillery quietly and quickly. By the time a Latin scout was seen as having spotted their position, the artillery where already set and loaded. Taking carefuly aim at the walls and defensive clusters of troops, the Khazaronians let loose a barage of artillery fire down on the Latins. Explosions roared and fire consumed man and concrete wall alike. Rubble flew up into the sky, intermixed with human bodies, and came crashing back down to the earth, usually on top of some of their other fellow soldiers.

After the initial shock of the mortar attack wore off, the Latins began hitting the Khazaronians back, reinforcing the front positiong with troops from their rear side of the base. Khazaronian snipers toke flanking postions on the side of the artillery, picking off what Latin soldiers they could find, primarily those manning the Latin artillery, as they where among the only ones capable of having enough reach to fire directly upon the Khazaronian positions.

Meanwhile, the Khazaronian special forces units readied themselves with their Lamonian counterparts as they flew to their position. By the time they reached their destination, all three of the allied forces would be engaged in a vicious ground battle, leaving the rescue of the experts and the disabling of the base's key defensive networks to them. Several of the Khazaronians in the plane clutched Bibles, others uttered declarations of "Allahu Akbar." quietly while praying, and even a few men could be seen bobbing their heads and clutching Stars of David that hung around their necks. It was clear they where all trying to prepare for this as best they knew how. Alot was riding on them and so it was understandable they where more than a little nervous.

The Lamonian ground forces kept up the attack as they got closer and closer to the Latin strongholds. Reaching the first line of Latin defenses, they had artillery cut holes into a wall that the Latins had managed to put up. Some Lamonians broke through the holes, and died as they stepped on land mines. So mine clearing vehicles were called in to sweep the mines while the Lamonian forces kept the enemy from killing them.

The Khazaronian artillery continued to relentlessly pound away at the Latin defenders at the front. Working like a well-oiled machine, a line had developed near the artillery. One man would load the artillery, the other aim, yet another fire the machine, and several others would carry the ordinance to it when it was time to reload. The operation was going quite smoothly. Part two started when the Khazaronians began to send out their mine-clearers to take care of the minefield just ahead. Several of the groups sent where shot full of wholes by enemy gunfire or smeared to a fine paste due to enemy artillery. Despite these setbacks however, they slowly advanced. What seemed like an eternity passed as they sat there and waited for the field to be cleared. Finally, the go-ahead was given the Khazaronian infantry started moving towards the base, constantly under fire from enemy positions, and also having to avoid both their own artillery and the enemies'. Giant craters filled with bodies marked the areas where the troops had failed to move out of the way in time.

Enough of the mines had been swept that a 10 foot wide corridor for the Lamonian troops had been opened up, allowing them to continue the advance. Naturally this left the Lamonian troops vulnerable, so the Lamonian artillery and close air strikes took out the heavy Latin weapons, and even some of the anti-air defenses that the Latins were using. The Lamonians rushed in, firing from the hip as they went.

Meanwhile, the paratrooper planes were rapidly approaching the drop zone.

"10 minutes to drop zone!! Final check!!" came the shout from the plane's loadmaster. The paratroops checked their gear one final time, and got ready for the fight of their lives. The Lamonian veterans of the Nova Roman war were also passing on some of what they knew to their other unblooded fellows, who seemed to appreciate it.

The Khazaronian forces began to make their way through the minefield where they where, and not to long after the Lamonians had managed to breach the Latin defenders at the wall, so did the Khazaronians. They swarmed over the rubble and remaining defenders, screaming like banshees and cutting many of them down where they stode. Several had butts of rifles slamed into their face, while others where simple riddled with bullets at point-blank range. Within a matter of minutes of reaching the wall, the Khazaronians had full control of it. This was due in large part to the Latins being in a state of disruption and confusion due to the early time of the attack and the double-fake on the part of the allied Lamonian/Khazaronian/Nedalian forces.

The Khazaronians began moving forward some of their heavier machine guns and making impromptu nests amongst the rubble of the wall they had just secured. Meanwhile their troops continued to pour through the wall and fan out, forming a wide defensive line at the breach-point and making sure that anything wearing a Latin uniform got a spray of bullets to its torso. General Hamar had ordered that there be no prisoners taken in this final encounter.

After finally securing the area and setting up their machine gun nests, the Khazaronian troops began their advancement through the base, systematically taking out nearby concentrations of troops and attempting to secure any AA guns or SAM batteries that could prevent air-support if it was needed.

As for the Khazaronian paratroopers, they made their final equipment check when the 10 minute warning came to them from the loadmaster. Many of them where carrying the equipment they had just recieved from Lamoni as part of the new alliance between the two nations. Several still looked a little concerned, but once their checks where done, their commander slapped his right fist over his heart and they followed suit. This single act seemed to dispel much of the anxiety that was evident amongst their faces. Now, from looking at them, one could tell they where ready to kill.

At five minutes to the drop zone, a red light came on in the back of the para planes. "Five minutes!! Form up!!" yelled the loadmasters. There was a rattle of equipment as the paras lined up to jump out of the plane; while another plane crewman hooked their parachutes the rack. Five minutes later, the light turned green, and on all the planes you could hear another shout: "GO, GO, GO!!!!!" The paras started jumping out, the Latins too busy to notice them coming down to meet them.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 15 2005, 01:49 PM
The Khazaronians quickly followed their Lamonian counterparts out of the planes, falling from the sky like avenging angels. The paratroopers where careful not to stray to far from one another while falling, but also not to get to close and tangle their chutes up amongst each other. Below they could see the battle raging on, Khazaronian troops pouring in from the front and the Lamonians from the back. Thankfully they recieved no shots being fired or flak canons being shot at them, due to the combined effect of the ongoing battle and the fact that a portion of the AA guns had been taken out.

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 15 2005, 04:40 PM
The drop down went relatively easy, and from initial count, none of the allies lost any paratroopers. The Nedalians were the last to jump, but got down there in a quick enough time. They quickly caught up to the Khazaronians and Lamonians, searching desperately for the hostages.

Meanwhile, Nedalia had attacked the eastern flank of the site, with Lamoni in the north and Khazaron in the south, just like the initial invasion. They had received word that they had the least resistance to deal with, and were the first to break through the barriers. They split their forces into two....one heading north, one heading south. The defence wall had been breached.

When the paratroopers fired their guns into the backs of numerous Latin troops, it wasn't even heard in the chaos of the surrounding battle. The Latin's didn't find out that the paras had even landed until one Latin troop noticed his comrade falling, and looked back to see if he could fall back. A Lamonian para shot him dead, but not before he got a warning out, alerting the Latins to the danger. The reaction was mixed. Some Latins threw down their weapons and tried to surrender, others started firing on the paratroopers, and still others didn't even seem to notice that the paras were there. Since General Smythe had given the Lamonians an order not to take prisoners, their gunfire barely slackened. A portion of the paratrooper force broke off from the main body and ran to the nearest farmhouse, trying to see if the experts were being held there. An artillery round had hit nearby, but the building was still standing.

The Khazaronian paratroopers followed quickly behind the Lamonian counterparts, giving them cover-fire and watching their backs, so that they could focus more on seraching for the experts. Anything wearing a Latin uniform that crossed their gun-sights was riddled with bullets and fell to the ground in a bloody heap. As the Lamonians headed into the farmhouse, several of the Khazaronian paratroopers opted to stay outside and secure a defensive perimeter around the area to make sure no Latin troops could get the drop on the troopers that went inside. Still other Khazaronians went in with the Lamonians to make sure they had plent of back-up and to ensure that should the experts be in there, they would be coming out.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 16 2005, 05:23 PM
The Lamonian troopers checked the first floor, and found nothing of interest. Climbing the rickety stairs to the second floor, they found what looked like dried blood on the steps. Checking the rooms in the building, they found nothing in all but one of them. This particular door had been locked, but a swift kick had broken the door lock, and let the paras in. The experts were there, and it looked to the paras as if the Latins had severely tortured them. There were huge bruises and cuts everywhere on them, and it didn't look like the experts were going to be able to get very far. Sending one of his men downstairs to relay the information to the Khazaronians that were hopefully still standing gaurd outside the building, the commander of the para detachment got his men to help him unbind the ropes that the experts had been tied up in.

The Khazaronians were guarding the Lamonians, and the Lamonians were searching buildings. Outside of that little conclave, however, was the Nedalians, picking out any Latin resistance they could find. The paratroopers came in as they breached the defence wall in the east, and now the Nedalians were operating more and more freely inside the base. Word was dispatched to the north and south to start minimizing their artillery fire.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 17 2005, 09:45 AM
The Khazaronians where standing directly outside the front door of the farmhouse, fanned out and shifting their guns from spot to spot as they heard noise coming from those areas. The paratrooper standing closest to the door noticed the Lamonian coming out and turned to see what was the matter. After being informed of the state of the experts, the Khazaronians looked grim for a second the nodded. "I can send half of my men to go an clear the area, then we could send in for a heli-evac once the AA guns and SAMs are taken out." The Khazaronian then turned to several of his comrades, who had over heard him, and motioned to them with his right hand to move out down to their right to an area that would make a good landing site, but was surrounded by multiple SAM batteries and two rather large AA guns. The men nodded and held their guns tight as they toke off.

While the Khazaronians were taking on the Latins at the landing site, the Lamonian paratroopers managed to locate a first aide kit, and were tending the experts as best as the kit would allow. When the Lamonian para that had been talking with the Khazaronians came back, the commander; a Major Greene, had all but one other of the paras to go help the Khazaronians clear the landing field. A helicopter was getting ready to take off from the command base, and had only to have a clear landing field to be able to take the experts to a military field hospital.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 18 2005, 06:43 PM
The Khazaronian paratroopers toke cover behind a stack of boxes on the fringe of the landing pad. Ahead of them there where five SAM batteries and two rather large AA guns atop very tall towers. In addition to those, the anti-aircraft sites where guarded by about thirty heavily armed Latin troops. They all seemed a bit jumpy, from all of the gunshots and explosions going on around them, but nevertheless resolute in their duty. One of the guards turned his attention towards the boxes and the lead Khazaronian paratrooper raised his left hand and signaled for everyone to drop down closer to the gorund. His men acknowledged his request and some began to fix silencers to their rifles. At about the time the Khazaronian commander was going to give the go ahead to open fire on the Latin guards, the Lamonian paratroopers crept up behind them quietly, offering their assistance.

The commander instructed them to use any flash-bang grenades they had in their arsenal to blind the troops. He then motioned to the men who had afixed silencers to their rifles and stated that those men would then begin to take out the guards one-by-one with their rifles. To seal the fate of the guards, the rest would fan out on the sides of the landing area, keeping as low to the ground as possible, and open fire on any of the remaining guards. The lead Lamonian agreed and he and his men prepped to throw several flash-bangs at the Latins, warning everyone to avert their eyes. Counting to three, they threw the flash-bangs, heard a loud shout and then the silenced gun-fire from the Khazaronian snipers as they turned their attention upon the guards.

A few seconds later the Khazaronian commander motioned for half of his men to follow him to the right, while the other half and the Lamonians would go to the left. They would flank the guards on both sides and open fire. This was done while the Latin guards where just recovering from the flash effect, and still being fired upon by the snipers. A minute went by and the Latins had their guns trained on the boxes. Just as the Latin commander was getting ready to give the order to fire, he was shreeded by a hail of bullets, causing his body to lurch and contort and fall lifeless to the ground. He was joined just a few minutes later by the rest of his companions, he barely managed to get a shot or two off at the paratroopers.

Following that, the Khazaronian commander instructed several of his men to place charges at the top of the two AA gun towers, while the rest would move out to take out the SAM batteries nearby. The men where split up into equal groups, while the Lamonians where given the task of guarding the landing area and notifying the rest of the men back at the farmhouse of their success, once the SAMs and AA guns where taken out.

Thankfully for the Khazaronians, the SAM batteries and AA guns possesed only the smallest of men manning them. It was a simple matter to take them out, place the charges, and then get clear of the explosions. An almost simoltaneous thunder came from several different directions at the landing pad, followed quickly by puffs of smoke and bright red-orange flames in the area of the SAM batteries and AA towers.

After the paras hit the ground, the explosions came one right after the other. Each one made the ground shake like a small earthquake. When the last charge went off, the paras dared look to see if all the AA guns and SAMs were destroyed. Seeing that they were, the lead Lamonian ran back into the farmhouse and informed the Major of the good news. Nodding, the Major had the sergeant that had stayed with him set up the satellite radio to inform command about the situation, and to get the helo in the air.

After taking out the AA guns and SAM batteries, the Khazaronian paratroopers ran back to the landing pad and toke up a defensive position around the area, spreading out evenly along the edges of the concrete pad. With guns trained to be on the look out for anything that moved, their commander ordered them to stay put and hold the pad at all costs. After which he gathered up five other men and lead them back towards the farmhouse to secure the path between them and the experts. He was going to make damn sure that nothing would be able to stop the evac.

After setting up the remaining five men at hidden guard spots along the path between the landing pad and the farmhouse, the commander himself went back to check in on the Lamonians. Running up to the Major, the Khazaronian commander suggested that they may want to put a rush on things as he didn't know how long they would be able to hold the area, with all the Latins in a panic and running every which way. The chances of Latin soldiers accidentally stumbling onto their evacuation where increasing with each artillery strike or volley of gunfire. The Latins could smell their own defeat was coming, and desperate people do desperate things.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 19 2005, 03:58 PM
Nodding, the Major asked the sergeant on the radio about the status of the helo.

"It's on it's way, sir. It should be here in 10 minutes." the sergeant said.

Meanwhile, the helo was flying flat out in order to get to the landing site on time. The helo had been loaded down with extra fuel in order to make it there and back at these speeds, which meant that it would make a very nice fire if shot at.

The end of the battle was nearer. With every passing minute, there was less and less Latin fighters to take care of. The Nedalians were sweeping the base efficiently. In fact, in the south, the Nedalians were quickly approaching the Khazaronian frontline, having to take care of one more small resistance group that was standing in between them.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 20 2005, 11:14 PM
The last batch of Latin resistance between the Lamonian and Khazaronian lines had evaporated just before the helicopter landed to take the experts to the military hospital. The experts were taken out of the building surrounded by Lamonian troops to the waiting helicopter which promptly flew out of the battle zone when the last expert had been strapped in. Now there was only the remaining Latin resistance to take care of, and the allied troops took to the task with a vengence.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 21 2005, 09:54 AM
With the experts away, the Khazaronian paratroopers defaulted to their secondary objective which was to finally neutralize the Latin military once and for all. Parting company with their Lamonian and Nedalian counterparts, the Khazaronian paratroopers moved towards where the main body of their army was stationed in the outpost, shooting any Latins that crossed their path. What parts of the base that where still in Latin hands where to be secured and dismantled.

During one of their raids on what appeared to be a Latin-held barn on the outskirts of the Khazaronian battle-front, they discovered a pocket of Latin fighters who where prepping five jeeps for depature, in an attempt to escape from the wrath of the allied force. They where all dressed in non-descript civilian clothing, and appeared to not even be carrying weapons on them. Normally their fate would have followed those of other Latin fighters the Khazaronians had encountered, yet so unique was this find that the paratroopers opted to inform General Hamar of it. The order from him came back through to question the individuals, hoping that they could find out exactly where any last pockets of Latin military would be hiding.

Being the resourceful people they where, and lacking in any good interrigation devices, the Khazaronians randomly picked one of the five men they found, tied him to a post in the barn, hooked up his nether regions to one of the jeep's car batteries, and began "questioning" him. Several minutes, and three grieviously wounded individuals later, they where no closer to any answers. Several of the men became frustrated, and moved to hook up yet another of the men to the car battery. Only this time the man collapsed into a sobbing heap, begging for mercy and confessing that he and his comrades where part of the command staff of the outpost.

One of the paratroopers attending to the captives, a tall man with a scar under his right eye, turned to a soldier with the captain insignia and shrugged. "What now?" he asked. The captain grinned, slowly walking forward as he unholstered his sidearm and held it tightly in his right hand, while reaching forward and grabbing the commander by the scruff of his neck and dragging him out of the barn. Letting go of the commander rather roughly, he levelled his sidearm at the man and cleared his throat.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

With those words the captain fired three shots at close range at the commander then turned back towards the barn. "This is our land now gentleman." he said to the remaining captives. "The sooner you cooperate with us, the better off your life will be." The remaining individual, the only one left of the four who could speak, began agreeing profously to reveal whatever information they wanted.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 21 2005, 04:18 PM
Hearing the screams from the farmhouse, a squad of Lamonian troops raced over to see what was going on. When they reached the barn, they saw what the Khazaronians were doing, and decided to gaurd the barn for them, taking up defensive positions.

After whiping off any blood he had gotten on his uniform from shooting the Latin commander, the Khazaronian commander turned around to his men and the awaiting Lamonian guards. "I think we're done here. Lets take these guys back to base and see what info we can get out of them." The other Khazaronians nodded and collected the remaining members of the Latin command, dragging them if they could not walk. Turning to the Lamonians, the Khazaronian commanderd smiled and bowed slightly. "Thanks for the back up fellas."

Posted by: Nedalia Sep 22 2005, 09:36 AM
The Nedalians had wiped out the last batch of real resistance and had made direct contact with the Khazaronians in the south. The Lamonians in the north also had been contacted with, and now Nedalian troops were patrolling the area. They were waiting on the official word from their allies to see what the next step was.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 22 2005, 11:59 AM
The Khazaronian troops in the outpost, and all of what was once southwestern Latao, began to settle into a normal patrol routine, making sure to keep on alert for insurgents and other individuals who would dare to disrupt the peace they had brought once again to the region. General Hamar set up his permanent headquarters in the capital city, next to the Lamonian HQ, so that the allied forces could better coordinate their efforts in the area. The Khazaronians where, like the Nedalians, awaiting to see what the next step in their plan would be.

Not long after the news of the rescue and the fall of the last Latin stronghold reached him, General Hamar ordered that the strength of checkpoints across all borders and seaports be tripled, in an effort to prevent any Latin fighters from escaping, as there appeared to be a mass-exodus attempt from many of the Latins still in the area. Any Latins who attempted to flee the nation, where to be turned around and sent back home. If they further persisted, or completely ignored any warnings by the Khazaronian military, they where to be shot.

Also, across the former nation, under direct orders from the Patriarch himself, the Khazaronian special ops that had been deployed where gathering up all military technology they could find in now occupied Latin bases and outposts. Any technology that was found was to be taken directly back to Khazaron and reverse-engineered.

Posted by: Lamoni Sep 22 2005, 05:07 PM
The Lamonians had border, airport, and harbor patrols on their patch of occupied Latao as well. No Latin was to be allowed to leave the country, even if it meant that said Latin would be shot. All Latin diplomats that hadn't already recieved asylum in one nation or another would be subject to extradition requests, as were the Latin governmental leaders if they could be found.

Meanwhile, Lamoni had sent in more Military Police units to their patch of occupied Latao, and were starting to take up the difficult task of establishing some kind of law and order in the territory.

OCC: How does this treat match the current map ? I accept that this land is lost to Nedalia as a result of the war, that's why i created the after war scenario where the old Latao went down in the war.

Posted by: Khazaron Sep 23 2005, 09:44 AM
OOC:If you are asking what parts of your old borders we control, Nedalia obviously has the east, Lamoni controls the northwest, and I control the southwest.
