With Sarzonia returning to Atlantian Oceania after a brief exit from the region, nearly 2.4 billion Sarzonian citizens were eager to reclaim their old homes and lands. However, they discovered something unpleasant. "Look, there are Chacorans living in my house," Schoolteacher Lindsey Cudniff said with a look of anger building. "My farm is in ruins thanks to those Chacoran scum," Jebediah Hostenlerder said in between shifts of his pipe in his mouth. Before long, word of the encroachment came to President Mike Sarzo's attention. "That's an outrage," Sarzo said angrily. "We're going to have to do something about it." From a makeshift leanto, Lieutenant General Wade Wilson, the commanding officer of the Second Incorporated Army reviewed the numbers and the mechanised units with a grimace. He knew his bunch had performed poorly in a recent combat exercise and he would have to get them to improve. And now, there was a possibility that they would have to undergo a live test of their skills by firing shots in anger. "Looks like we're going to have to deploy. F*ck," Wilson grumbled. Sarzo decided to give the situation an attempt at a diplomatic solution first before resorting to taking back Sarzonian land by force.
Ten kilometres from Sarzonia's current and temporary border with Chacor, the Second Incorporated Army began to conduct combat exercises, while the First Fleet under Fleet Admiral Stephen Marcus prepared to set sail with Rear Admiral Matt Lance and the Sixth Fleet providing support. The Army Air and Naval Air units began to mobilise and practice strafing runs to get a round of practice against their would-be opponents, while the naval ships prepared to set up shop in international waters 12.1 nautical miles off the coast of Chacor. |

OOC: Don't mind me, Sarz, but why did you leave for Haven and come back so relatively-soon? I would usually have TG'd you this question but I'm sure I'm not the only one around here who'd like to know. |
Posted by: Sarzonia May 1 2005, 10:46 AM |
OOC: Well, Doujin was angling to rejoin Haven and there was a LOT of extra drama from people who wanted him to rejoin and a lot of too-harsh comments directed toward me for being one of the anti-Doujin voices. When the tenor of those comments got entirely too personal, I just said to hell with it and returned here. |

OOC: Actually, I'd like to know why you skipped out in the first place. IC: Consul Davies entered the Consulate of Foreign Relations. With the Supreme Court falling to the wayside, the Senate allowed Davies to start this office. Sitting at the desk was the new Consular, Luther James Hargrove. "Counsular," said Davies, shaking the hand of the man who briefly assisted George Williamson at the Alliance Council, "How do you like the new office?" Hargrove smiled. "It's not the FLMS chair, but I like it indeed. You got the message, I presume?" "Of course. The Sarzonians are back, and they're not happy with Chacor, and probably not Latao either." "Don't they know the Latins revoked the deposit rule? And what did the Chacorians do?" "I don't know if they care about that, to be honest, though I hope we can work out a deal there, if the extradition of the Latins who've been incarcerated doesn't work. As for Chacor, apparently there has been some settlements built on the other side of the Crystilakerean Channel." Marcus thought for a moment. "Send out a memo to Sarzonia, welcoming them back, and hoping we can re-start a pleasant relationship. We'll worry about Chacor later, and hope they can work something out. However, Luther, watch this situation very carefully, and alert Williamson as well." |

OOC: I originally left because I didn't want to deal with Doujin and I was going to a region with other people I RP with most frequently. Little did I know that Doujin would leave hours after I did. I wanted to make a concerted effort to RP in the new region and get involved; however, when there was talk that Doujin wanted to return and I publicly opposed it, I was publicly vilified by one person in particular and it got abusive. With Doujin having removed himself from this region and with me quite frankly being "homesick" if you can call being in a particular "region" of the NS game "home," I returned. I'd like to keep this thread free of OOC comments from now on unless they directly relate to the prospective RP. Thanks. I have to add a postscript that Doujin and I have had a history of hostility and he said some things to me that gave me good reason to hate his guts OOC, and when he came into this region, it looked like he was pulling some of the same old BS that he always did... BS that contributed to the reasons I hated his guts in the first place. |

"Sarzonia?" Asked Lord-Commander Fyreskar, "In a ground war? What next, Druidans throwing frag grenades and not custard pies?" "Its a very distinct possibility, my Lord." "Crap." The President of AORDO sighed, "It doesn't help the matter that Chacor and Sarzonia are both members of ARODO. Should Sarzonia invade, Chacor can call on us to do the first useful thing since the Anti-Xilean Fatwah people in Krytenia. But then again, Sarzonia could be calling on us to eject Chacor from what they see as 'their' land." "You'd get the 'region' to go to war with Sarzonia?" "No, of course not," the General waved his hand dismissively, "we'd just pacify the disputed territory with our grey-hats and stay there until the disagreements were sorted out." "You want me to put that to the disputing parties?" "Sounds like a good plan," the General smiled. |

To: Atlantian Oceania Regional Defence Organisation From: John Newman Vice President for Defence, Incorporated States of Sarzonia Subject: Assistance requested The Incorporated States of Sarzonia hereby requests the assistance of AORDO in the removal of Chacoran citizens from rightful Sarzonian territory in the wake of our return to the region from a very brief sojurn. We believe the fact that Chacor has not made a good faith effort to return our rightful territory to us speaks volumes about their government's imperialist greed in spite of our heretofore peaceful relationship. We sincerely hope that the AORDO can handle our request with the most reasonable dispatch. |

President Jordan and Senate Majority Leader Herb Patterson were discussing the Sarzonian/Chacorian issue to the south of them: Jordan: Herb, I'm not sure if we want to get in the middle of this scenario yet, but I wonder if we can come up with a compromise. Has the Senate thought of anything? Patterson: Well, it has come up in the State Committee. The only thing we can think of is suggesting that the Chacorians either stay in Sarzonia and naturalize, compensating the land owners for their homes; or for Chacor to annex the fairly vacant space between them and us here, and move the settlers here. Jordan: You know, that might work. Why don't I send them telegrams on that? Patterson: I don't see the Senate objecting, Mr. President. Good luck.

Press release: Earlier today, Lord Sero Tenal announced that Ryloss's armed forces have been deployed to occupy and secure the old Rylossian homeland. 3 Corps are being brought in by sea, and Rylossian embassies in the Chacor-occupied Sarzonia will be protected by a company of light infantry reinforced by a platoon of armor and a platoon of artillery each. Lord Tenal declared his full support of Sarzo in his desire to remove the Chacoran presence in Sarzonia, terming them "-squatters and transients." |

(OOC: I don't remember giving permission for anything of this sort, but I'm not against it.) IC: To: Federation of Like-Minded States (henceforth known as FLMS), Atlantian Oceania Regional Defence Organisation (henceforth known as AORDO) From: Felix Gordon, Chacoran Consul to Lamoni and FLMS Representative; Henry Aspotal, ex-Chacoran Ambassador to Sarzonia Subject: Request for Help The Democratic Republic would like to request assistance from the FLMS and AORDO to counter any illegal manouveurs that may be made in the near future by either Sarzonian or Rylossan forces. The Democratic Republic would like to note that this land was taken over peacefully with no harmful intentions on the departure of Sarzonia from the region, and the Government does not appreciate Sarzonia's claim of a rogue takeover. We would also like to request that FLMS member nations help us as per the charter of the FLMS, as we have been attacked in a matter we feel has not been provoked by the Government. The entry of Chacorans into Sarzonian land is not condoned, but we have no right to restirct their movements per the Chacoran Consitution. Finally, we hope an agreement can be worked out on neutral soil with the Sarzonians. |

OOC: Continued off the back of http://www.3wideracing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=621, AORDO is claming the situation down a tad. And, Chacor, as for permission, isn't this far more interesting for the Region than a simple TG from Sarz saying 'can you ask Vil to let me have my land back, please?' ? Thought so IC: Twelve C-130 Hercules aircraft , part of the Starblaydi Air Force's 10th Support Wing, made their final approaches into the largest of the airports within the disputed territory, supposedly owned by Chacorian people but re-claimed by the Sarzonian government. Carrying mechanised troops, the occasional tank, plus lots of equipment. The 1st Mechanised Brigade and 3rd Light Armoured Brigade were well represented within the aircraft, their helmets covered in that special AORDO-grey to denote they were here on official business. As both parties had requested their involvement, they were sure they wouldn't be impeded. Now all they had to do was find a place to set up Headquarters. |

Official Telegram From: Tommy Douglas, Deputy Premier, The Democratic Republic of Chacor To: Mike Sarzo, President, The Incorporated States of Sarzonia Subject: Tensions Warmest Greetings from Chacor, It has come to light that a few Chacoran citizens - approximately fifteen hundred by government estimates - have settled into what used to be Northern Sarzonia. I understand that the Incorporated Sarzonian government would like to "reclaim" what is rightfully yours. I would, however, like to point out Section 81©, Code 4.15 of the Chacoran Constitution, and the Chacoran Penal Code Section 14(d), which reads, "The Chacoran Government and prosecuting authorities have control over citizens (of Chacor) within the limits of Chacor. Any acts that may be seen as crime, delinquency or inappropriate behaviour committed outside of the nation can not be punished by the Chacoran Government or the respective prosecuting authorities unless it also breaks Chacoran law." In this case, there is no clear passage in either the Constitution or the Penal code about assuming control of abandoned homes, and thus we do not have any right to forcibly remove them. I hope that you understand the situation, and please do note that we are, and I am, doing the best we can to resolve the situation. I hope we have your co-operation. Yours, Tommy Douglas Deputy Premier The Democratic Republic of Chacor [EDIT: OOC: Star, What I meant is I never even said anything about a land takeover, nor had I given the go-ahead for such an RP. Anyhow, since this makes for some good RPing, I don't mind.] |

[OOC: Odd... I thought you had claimed territory after I left the region. Maybe the intent was misunderstood. As for permission, I'm usually just as strict about permission to begin such a RP, so I apologise for not notifying you.] To: Tommy Douglas Deputy Premier, The Democratic Republic of Chacor From: Nicole Lewis Senior Vice President for Internal Affairs, Incorporated States of Sarzonia Subject: Removal of Chacorans Since your government has chosen to cite its own penal codes as they represent the actions of their own citizens and seem to be distancing itself from the prospect of compelling its citizens to leave Sarzonia, it will fall upon us to take matters into our own hands. Your citizens must be removed from Sarzonian territory by the deadline previously given or we will consider it criminal trespass and will respond accordingly. If you or your weak-kneed liberal government are so hell-bent on curbing your imperialist designs on territory, I suggest you move your transient freeloaders to the land Giustizalia is offering as a compromise to end this rape of soverign Sarzonian land. Otherwise, you may find that we'll take a lot more than "our" land if you don't remove your citizens by that deadline. |

Marcus read the report regarding Sarzonia's last response with disgust. "Goddamn it Mike, are you trying to start a war here?" was his response to Hargrove. Meanwhile, Luther tried to put a point on it: "Wouldn't you be angry if a bunch of settlers from another country settled on your land, and then when you went to get it back, they wouldn't do anything about it?" "Yeah, I would, Luther. But surely we can do this without a war. Any ideas?" Luther handed Marcus a sheet of paper. "Try sending them both this" Marcus read:
"Hmm", said Marcus after he was finished, "do you think that's a little harsh?" "Perhaps," responded Luther, "but it's what we need to say." "Alrighty, then. Let's send it." Luther smiled. "Yes, sir, right away." |

Telegram to Legalese, Chacorian, and Sarzonian Goverments: Ryloss would like to offer it's assistance in removing Chacorian citizens. "I remind you that the Chacorans illegaly invaded our territory," Sarzo said with disgust as he read the telegram from Legalese. "I'm getting really sick and tired of this FLMS," he snapped at no one in particular. Going to his laptop, he typed out a message to send to Davies:
Before he could click send, he saw First Partner Jay Tyler look at him with a disapproving glance. Thinking more carefully, he softened his reponse considerably.
Sarzo clicked send this time. |

Official Telegram (CONFIDENTIAL) To: Marcus Davies Consul, Judicial Republic of Legalese From: Thomas Douglas Deputy Prime Minister, Democratic Republic of Chacor Subj: Chacorans in Sarzonia Warmest Greetings, The Government would like to once again reiterate that we have no right to do anything about them. We will issue a police bulletin for immediate arrest upon entry into Chacor, but it is impossible for us to do anything while they are overseas. With Sarzonian military action likely, I would like to request a full deployment of FLMS troops in Chacor along the border with Sarzonia. This is a dangerous time for the Crystilakeran Channel and nations around it. We hope a peaceful ending can be found. Yours, Tommy Douglas |

News release: "With the official go ahead from the Sarzonian goverment, Rylossian troops have begun transporting the Chacorian squatters off of the disputed territory, acting with the authority of the Sarzonian goverment, the rightful and legal owner of the land." < 0511 Hours, Portland-Sarzonia> The Lieutenant drew his sidearm, confirming the address in the dim pre-dawn light. He pointed it in the air, and fired it three times, then walked to the light tank nearby, and the tank commander, seeing him with his night-vision goggles, took them off, hitting the searchlights, and tossing the Lieutenant the microphone for the tank's megaphone. "Attention, Chacorian Illegal Residents! As of this moment, you are hereby served a notice of eviction. Exit the building with your hands in the air, immediately. Do not bring any possesions with you. You will be transported to a holding facility to await a flight out of Sarzonia. There, provisions for the transport of your possessions can be made. You have 5 minutes to comply." The Lieutenant waited, trying not to appear nervous to his men, who were standing ready in front of the apartment block with riot gear, tear gas, and the like, in case this group was going to make this difficult. The truck drivers, in their trucks, gripped the wheels with white knuckles, praying their thinly armored vehicles wouldn't come under fire. (OOC: Chacor, if you want to RP out how this incident goes, feel free, otherwise, consider this just a post showing how they're being handled.) |

"Mobilise the Ready Reserves." "But Mr. Vice President, you don't have the authorisation from President Sarzo!" "Doesn't matter. It doesn't look like those vermin are leaving here anytime soon." John Newman paced in a slight orbit around his desk at the military command centre in Saugerties. "Looks like the FLMS is going to mobilise." "And you're willing to risk a war against a full alliance?" "I hope those AORDO folks aid us in this mess," Army Chief Antonius Santius said. The Sanctaphraxian grimaced when he saw the mobilisation efforts. "Even with the Ready Reserves called up, I don't think we can win wars on this many fronts. Not without the reforms in the army--" "I'm sick and tired of hearing you bitch about our army," a deputy Vice President piped in. David Johansson was one of the loudest voices that opposed reforms for the army that Santius was pushing for ever since he arrived in Sarzonia. Eventually, Santius would be able to point to facts, but right now, the Navy was still Sarzonia's darlings. The Navy would take care of it. It always had. "I could walk all over our army with 100,000 Sanctaphraxian troops," Santius said with a grimace. "Our men and women haven't seen a battlefield except on the History Channel. We've got to make major changes in our army." "Right now, we've got a larger problem," Vice President for Naval Operations Kathy Bunhall said, forcefully cutting off discussion before it got heated and nothing got accomplished. "We've got to focus on getting those bloody Chacorans off our property before we've got a full-scale war on our hands." "I say get 'em out while the getting's good," Newman said. "Once they're off our property, we won't care about their hellforsaken lands." "You know that means war with several countries John." "With who? Latao? We could crush them into next week without losing a speck of kevlar. Lamoni? Please. My grandmother could beat their entire military with a rolling pin and ten giant curlers. Druida? And their assortment of pies?" "Legalese. They're the ringleaders of that FLMS." Our football team just beat theirs. We can do the same on the battlefield." Just then, the phone rang. "Newman." "John, what's going on over there?" "Mike!" |

OOC: Sarz, you didn't see the bottom part, remember? Marcus's phone rang. "Yes?" "Sir, we are recieving reports about the settlement dispute", said the voice on the other end. "Well?" "We have no reports of incidents so far, though it appears that Ryloss, and not the AORDO have taken the active role in it." "Alright, then. Thank you for the information." Marcus hung up, and thought for a moment, before making his next moves: Secret IC (if you're not listed, you didn't see it ):
After forwarding it to Marcia for sending, Marcus pulled out the secure texter. Meanwhile, at his desk in FLMS headquarters, George felt his mobile device vibrate. He pulled it out, and read what was written:

"Good evening, you're watching Chacor News Today. We start with Breaking News that the Premier has been ousted in a non-violent coup for not doing anything to end the Chacoran-Sarzonian tensions. [Breaking News bar disappears for a second, then reappears] "We've just gotten word that southern Chacor has come under heavy cross-border fire from Sarzonia, and we can confirm reports of at least one, I quote, "explosion". There are as yet no reports of casualties although the CIBC (Constitutional Investigation Bureau of Chacor) have said they are investigating the matter." |

"John, I want an explanation and I want it now. What in hell is going on over there?" Newman replayed the dialogue between Sarzonia and the FLMS countries. Unseen to Newman, Sarzo shook his head vigourously. "Unbelieveable, John. What's this I hear about shooting?" "Rylossian troops are rounding up Chacoran citizens and are arranging for their deportation from Sarzonia." "Ryloss?" "Yeah. We have a mutual defence pact of sorts with them, remember?" "Oh, that's right." The nature of the pact was such that Rylossian troops were permitted on Sarzonian soil and Sarzonian warships could sail in Rylossian waters without penalty. It was an unusual agreement, to be sure, but it played to each country's military strengths. Sarzo began silently thanking Janis Hedge, his Vice President for Business and Commerce for that one. He also owed Rear Admiral Barbara Tucker of the Portland Iron Works a big favour. "Now Chacor is offering to send their police in to arrest their citizens." "I don't know about allowing armed Chacorans into Sarzonian territory." "If we keep an eye on them, we can make sure they don't try anything funny. I'd rather defuse the situation than have a border war that could lead us to a war against the entire FLMS." "If we keep an eye on them. I suggest we do that so those imperialist bastards from Chacor don't think they can steal any more of our land." "Very well."
Newman clicked send, hoping this step in the direction of concession would be enough to help prevent full-scale war. |

The Confederacy of Latao Member of AORDO Member of FLMS Honored Folks of Atlantian Oceania As a nation, having an open bill with the Incorporated States of Sarzonia, we have observed the situation carefully, but kept in the background so far. Now, that the issue is taken officially to the AORDO-council and the FLMS is involved, Latao clearly stands that it will not support any Sarzonian aggressions in no event. We have seen the real character of President Sarzon’s regime, this is just another act of this well-known terrorist regime and its myrmidons. The Confederacy of Latao will not follow any AORDO-requests regarding this issue and fully supports the FLMS - where needed using military options. We urge Sarzonia to think carefully about every step it takes, as a war, raised by the incorporated states of Sarzonia will lead to the downfall of this doomed regime. <E-mail from Lord Tenal to President Sarzo> Mike, Sorry about the alarm with Chacor, some Chacorans weren't where they were supposed to be when we came to pick them up. Turns out some Chacorian tabloid spread a rumor the holding camps were really concentration camps, and we were killing all we rounded up. They got their hands on some weapons somewhere, and launched an attack against one of our facilities. Light casualties, no fatalities, and they've been routed. We've pursued them all the way to the Sarzonian-Chacorian border, and have them encircled. We're trying to take them alive, if possible. Not sure why they're firing at Chacor, I'll have my units double check their positions to make sure they haven't crossed Chacor's border, and if they have, I'll issue a formal apology to them. However, the deportation of the Chacorian settlers will have to be delayed, all flights carrying them to neutral territory have been diverted, until the extent of this little insurrection can be cleared up, all Chacorian's in Sarzonia are being declared POW's. We'll make sure they're treated well, to avoid any flak from the international community, but we need to weed out any conspirators among their ranks before we release them. -S |

[Secret IC: E-mail from Sarzo to Lord Tenal] I am disappointed that the Chacorans have resorted to violence in our attempts to ensure their removal to the disperal camps and they were under the mistaken impression that we were holding them in concentration camps. I would like to ask that your government assure the Chacorans that they will not be sent to concentration camps and that they will be treated well in their temporary arrangements until they can be relocated to Chacoran soil.[/secret IC] "My fellow Sarzonians, fellow members of the Atlantian Oceania Community. As you are well aware, we along with our Rylossian neighbours have endeavoured to remove a population of expatriate Chacorans from Sarzonian territory. That effort has unfortunately met with violence instigated by the Chacorans who were under the mistaken assumption that we intended to put them into 'concentration camps.' "Rest assured that I would never do that to the Chacoran people. We are striving to ensure the safety of the people until we can arrange to have them transported back to Chacor. We believe we can best ensure that safety by moving them to centres where their needs can be provided for and we can protect them from potential violence. "We would like to address the Latin government's continued slander of us in the wake of our recent tensions with them. Their government has shown its true colours: Those of a bigoted, hypocritical, aggressive reigime that is more concerned about revenge than they are about ensuring the peace and tranquility of this region. I remind you that we were forced to threaten military action only after their president was shown on television brandishing a weapon and suggesting launching an invasion. "We would prefer to have the Chacoran expatriates returned to their rightful territory in a peaceful manner and avert a potential crisis. However, provocative words such as those by the Latin President bring those attempts at peaceful resolution into jeopardy. History will be a harsh judge of Latao's words and actions." |

Marcus saw the message CC-ed to him, but paid no mind. He was going to Giustizalia for other reasons, anyways. But for now, he needed to contact Williamson... Hours later, George closed the door to his office behind him. Also in the office were delegates from Latao, Lamoni, Falcania, and Chacor. "Gentlemen," said the Legalese delegate, "I'd like to discuss the settlement issues in Chacor for a moment. As we know, the removal process has begun with some shooting. However, the two parties at odds here are not Sarzonia and Chacor, as anticipated, but rather between some rebellious settlers that don't want to leave, and Rylossian forces assisting in the move. As we also know, Chacorian police officers are attempting to facilitate the move. I've also been informed that their northern neighbor on the island, Giustizalia, is calling for a meeting for those four to handle matters on their own, which I think is a wonderful idea." "In other words, what we have here is a situation that does not require intervention by the alliance. In fact, I further attempts to get involved," continued Williamson, as he shot a look at the Latin delegate, "may in fact turn this situation into one of a more serious matter, which we should avoid." "So," concluded George, "I suggest that, if the Chacorian delegate agrees, we back off for now. We should always be ready to send assistance if needed, but for now, we should stay out, unless we really are needed." |

In the AORDO main announcement hall in the AORDO HQ in Tabeck, Starblaydia, the AORDO Chief Aerys Fyreskar stands to give out his prepared statement to the members of the Press from across the region: "Ladies an Gentlemen, distinguished leaders of Chacor, Latao, Legalese, Nedalia, Ryloss and Sarzonia, I am Aerys Fyreskar, President of AORDO, Lord-Commander of Starblaydi Armed Forces and a General in the Starblaydi Army. "I have been watching the proceedings with a growing sense of disbelief and horror. From Sarzonia and Ryloss' striking of their borders in the past, to Chacorian citizens settling in the then-unclaimed area of their own accord, to the re-claiming of land by the governments of Sarzonia and Ryloss. "The answer to this situation is uniquely simple. With the growing threat from the Federation of Like-Minded States against the Incorporated States of Sarzonia, I hereby request the removal of all Federation troops from the landmass, whether they're on AORDO or FLMS business. "I also request that Sarzonian and Rylossian forces withdraw to their respective and undisputed areas of territory or embassy grounds. The only troops remaining in the disputed area must be non-Federation-aligned AORDO forces. Currently that consists of the Protectorate of Starblaydia and the Nation of Abattoir. Fitting, indeed, that the cheif AORDO and U.N. representatives are the only nations calming this situation down, rather than inflaming it. "AORDO will perform its duties on behalf of the region. Chacorian citizens who have unjustly claimed Sarzonian lands will be removed from the homes and farms they have taken, with these places returned to their rightful Sarzonian owners. Once removed, they will be handed over to Chacorian authorities for the proper legal processes to begin. Only then can Sarzonian citzens return to their homes, and the Sarzonian forces can regain control of the territory. "This situation, brought about by the selfish acts of a few greedy Chacorians, has nearly been the spark for a war within this region thanks to all parties involved throwing their supposed international weight around. I hope this matter will be resolved peacefully, as it always should have been. "Furthermore, in light of the declarations from the Confederacy of Latao, I will be instigating processes to remove the Confederacy from the Atlantian Oceania Regional Defence Organisation, pending full investigation and enquiry into their actions. The betterment of peace in the Region is valued by both the Regional Council, AORDO and the Strategic Alliance, though not, it seems, by the members of the Federation of Like-Minded States. That is all I have to say. I'll take any questions now..." |

OOC: Chacor, if there's a warlike situation going on, any country with even a moderately decent intel satellite network is going to spot any kind of mobilising by an would-be enemy and if you're gathering police together, that's going to be noticed. Since we're in the middle of an RP and it looks like we're about to get into negotiations, I'll let that part go. TO: Victor Jordan Allied States of Giustizalia CC: Thomas Douglas Democratic Republic of Chacor FROM: Mike Sarzo President, Incorporated States of Sarzonia SUBJECT: Negotiations Sarzonia would be willing to attend talks in Tazilik with the idea of ending this period of tensions between our countries on the condition that Ryloss is permitted to send its own delegation as a full and equal partner in the talks. I must insist on their presence at the talks as we have a mutual defence arrangement that allows Rylossian troops on Sarzonian soil and Sarzonian warships in Ryloss's soverign waters. The arragement allows each country to patrol the other's territory as if it were their own. We would be willing to allow a delegation from Legalese to serve as the official observer from the Federation of Like-Minded States and a delegation from Starblaydia to serve as the official AORDO observer. However, I must request that Sarzonian peacekeeping forces be allowed to supervise any policing action that is forthcoming from AORDO to ensure the safety of territory that rightfully belongs to us and to any Sarzonians who may be in that particular area. We believe the FLMS must do a better job to ensure that certain member nations do not cause the alliance as a whole to be cast in a negative light. Were it not for the impetuous words and actions of the Latin government, this situation might have met a resolution far earlier. We are disappointed that we have not yet seen action by the alliance to prevent Latao from casting a black mark on its reputation. |

Assembled Gentlemen, Mr. Sarzo This is is not a question, if someone likes a nation or not or how it acts as part of the international cummunity in Atlantian Oceania. Fact is, as a regular member of AORDO and FLMS, any international binding decisions made by these organizations require the approval of the Confederacy of Latao. It's also a known fact to the world, that it was the actions taken by the decision-makers in Woodstock that made Sarzonia a dubious dark nation, that is being watched with suspection. Since there are citizens of the state of Latao residing in the area, we will ensure our people will not be abused ever again by the Sarzonia-myrmidons. To guarantee their security, Latin citizens are protected directly by forces of the Latao Military Police. Thank You Latao NEC |

To: Mike Sarzo; Tommy Douglas; Lord Tenal; Lord-Protector Starblayde; Marcus Davies From: Victor Jordan Re: Meeting in Tazilik Gentlemen: I thank PM Douglas and President Sarzo for their swift reponses, and their willingness to find a peaceful solution. If you haven't noticed, I have added Starblaydian Lord-Protector Tiberius Starblayde to the invitation list, though it may be just as fitting to send General Fyreskar instead. To address some concerns about the meeting: -First, I feel that it is essential that the nations that are directly involved in the situation should be the ones most directly involved. That is why I anticpate that most of the negotiations will happen between three or four parties: the Sarzonian delegation, the Chacorian delegation, the Rylossian delegation, and my own delegation, who will be represented by myself and Secretary of State Triaree. -In addition to us four, I feel that it would be helpful to have an outside observer, hence the invitation extended to Consul Davies of Legalese, who will be present for other talks as well. I also invite Starblaydia at this time as an outside observer, and one whose general leads the AORDO peacekeeping forces currently in Sarzonia. -Lastly, there have been some issues with certain members of the FLMS seemingly causing trouble. I hope that the members of said alliance who will be involved in this discussion can deal with that. While it is admirable to stand behind your fellow member-state, this is not a situation where they, nor the SAAS, needs to be presently involved. I look forward to seeing you all in Tazilik. Yours, Victor |

On behalf of the Lord-Protector of Starblaydia, In regard to the proposed meeting: Foreign Minister Lord Isaac M.C. Chisoko will be sent to the Tazilik Conference, owing to the fact that the Lord-Protector's schedule is unaccountably busy at this time. In regard to Latao's opinion of AORDO: If the esteemed members of the NEC, specifically Roger Omsec himself, would care to browse through the actions already taken by AORDO, they will find that they have all been proposed and initiated by Lord-Commander General Fyreskar. He, as you may have noticed, is not responsible to the Latin people, nor is Latin himself. Any Latin troops operating uncalled for in Sarzonian, Chacorian or Rylossian territory are there completely on the orders of the Latin government and should be treated as such by those respective governments. AORDO actions, through precedent, have not and never shall require or even request the official support of the Confederacy of Latao. Latao's ejection from AORDO due to its words and deeds now seems inevitable. Lord ricardo Gomez, Minister for Communications, Protectorate of Starblaydia |

Official Telegram To: Latin NEC; Latin Government CC: Mike Sarzo; Marcus Davies; Lord-Commander Fyreskar; Victor Jordan From: Thomas Douglas Subj: Latin Involvement Warmest Greetings, We must at this time emphasise to the Latins that NONE of their involvement is required at the time of intense conflict in a region where there have been past skirmishes between them and one side of the conflict. Your prescence, my Latin counterparts, only serves as a catalyst for further conflict, which I am desperately trying to avoid. As such, any Latin troops found operating in the south of Chacor, or the north of Sarzonia, by Chacoran forces will be taken as Prisoners of War, until they can be brought back to Chacoria in the north for deportation. Should the Chacoran forces meet resistance, they have been ordered to fire in self-defence. This is not a declaration of war, instead, it is hopefully a method to bring peace. The Latin involvement leaves us with no other decision. Should the AORDO or FLMS object, we hereby request the respective forces remove Latin forces themselves. Karl Tiresen was tiring of his role as supereme ruler of the Sacrosanct Realm of Xile, and hoped only for a quick end to his service. However, his reach into politics was innately limited, so his attempts to regain President Adonis Lauir were taking beaucracy-ridden time. The intermin-president, with all his limited diplomatic knowledge, did understand how to react to the current situation. He understood that any action that went forward to undermine the FLMS was a move that strengthened the SAAS. With that idealist maxim in mind, he decided to act. He personally called six commanders to his office. To two of them, he ordered them to have their 20 troops each uniformed in usual Sarzonian regalia. He also ordered this group to search out, identify, and massacre any Chacorian citizens without prejudice. To the other two commanders, he had them dress as ordinary Chacor citizens with a red bandana on their heads. They were to pronounce themselves as the 'Chacor Liberation Army' and fire upon any and all Sarzonian/Ryloss peacekeeping forces, maintaining and screaming their mission upon each successful kill. The last two commanders were sent to watch over the other four. These two were given orders to kill all troops who were close to being compromised, and to refurbish the troops with wepaons and ammunition should the need arise. With these orders in mind, Tiresen sent the troops ahead. The killings would ensue, as firefights broke the silence of the night. |

Official Transmission To: AORDO, FLMS, Sarzonia; n/inc Ryloss From: Thomas Douglas Re: Chacoran POWs Greetings, While at this time I personally pray for peace, I must ask that the AORDO, FLMS and Sarzonian government help the Chacoran people. Ryloss has taken POW's and have claimed that they would be released only at their "sole discretion." We cannot accept this. For the safety of our people, we must make it known that it is imperative our POWs are released, safely, unhurt, at once. There is no foreseeable end in sight, however much I wish for it. Side conflicts like this, however, only serve to heighten tension. Tommy Douglas Official Transmission (PRIVATE) To: Mike Sarzo From: Thomas Douglas Subj: Everything Warmest Greetings, Mike. Let me start by emphasising how much I wish to end this conflict, but as you may already know it is too dangerous at the current time, with Xilean forces in the area, to risk doing anything. I ask for your help to safely remove all Chacoran troops as deep into the conflict zone as you can, as we will Sarzonian troops. They can later be returned safely, perhaps via a neutral country so as to avoid them being shot at by these said Xilean forces. Also, I'd like to request help to diffuse the POW situation. I understand that you and your government has direct relations with Ryloss. We must request that all POWs be returned as soon as possible, if not at once. To allow the Rylossian government to release them at their own discretion is ridiculous and utterly unacceptable. I sincerely hope we can co-operate on this matter. Yours, Tommy |

In the much-troubled AORDO mobile HQ that roved around the disputed Chacor/Sarzonian territory essentially not doing anything, Colonel Heider Nicholson had sat waiting. Waiting for orders, mostly, or perhaps even a clue as to what was going on in the area. Conflicting reports had been telling him all sorts of things, until he had a message from someone important, Lord-Commander General Fyreskar himself.
It wasn't all that long of a ride in the jump seat of a Starblaydi Army Helicopter, suitably painted the dark-grey of the organistaion with AORDO nin big, bright, white letters. Passing over the streets around the Rylossian embassy he could see Rylossian troops manning barricades, razor wire, tank traps and all sorts of nasty-looking things. Better then than me in a slog-fest down there, he thought to himself, I'l be glad when this Rylossian General takes this force over, perhaps she'll have some ideas. |
Posted by: Ryloss May 9 2005, 05:11 PM |
<Several minutes later> Col. Nicholson was lead by the Rylossian infantryman to the Ambassador's office, where General Redwing was at work with her staff coordinating with the units keeping the rebels pinned. "Ah, Colonel. I assume you're here to transfer command? I'd just recieved word you were on our way. This is good, it will give us the man power to calm the situation down. You're 1st Mechanized Brigade and 3rd Armored Brigade will be in charge of capturing the Chacoran rebels. We're implementing a pamphlet drop over them, announcing we will be dropping a Fuel-Air Explosive on top of them if they don't surrender within an hour of the pamphlet drop, which we will. Lamoni's mechanized infantry brigade get's the pleasure of informing the Chacoran army that they're to pack up and move out before the first Sarzonian civilians arrive, which will be soon. My own men will be running rear echelon support and security. This whole situation should clear itself up soon, since the processing of the POW's is almost complete, I'm told. Honestly, though I have total confidence in the Architector, a lot of this political grand-standing is a pain... You're welcome to enjoy some of our hospitialities here, Colonel, but otherwise, we're done here." General Redwing turned back to her planning table and went to work. |

Newman fiddled with his binder where he kept the information surrounding the tense period in Atlantian Oceania history. He was getting more and more nervous. He knew that as soon as Sarzo returned from Pacitalia, he would have a lot of explaining to do. He also knew that if he said the wrong thing, he'd be sent packing. Needless to say, this was not a good time to be Vice President for Defence. He checked his e-mail and noticed the warning message to Chacoran citizens to vacate their homes or fuel air explosives would rain down on them. Oh great, he thought. Just what I need. The cold war that was developing between Sarzonia and the FLMS was just a misstep away from igniting into a period of bloodshed and thousands of lives hung in the balance. "Mr. Vice President, word is that Xile is behind some of the explosions to the north." "Xile?! Are they trying to go to war with us?" "Not likely John," Jared Calvin, an aide who was a potential star in the Defence Department said. "They're probably trying to ignite things between us and Chacor. I'm sure they'd like nothing better than to see us go at it with the entire FLMS." "They damn near succeeded," Newman said. "What can we do about Xile?" "I say send them a threatening message and if we come to a peace accord with Chacor, go after them." "I'd rather set those prats to rights sooner, not later." "Look, we're stretched pretty thin as it is. We can't afford to get militarily involved with Xile. If we can get past this damn Inkanan Civil War, we can go after them." "If we can get past this Chacoran situation, we'll be able to bring our muscle to bear on Xile," Newman said. We'll focus on Chacor and the disputed territories for right now and when that resolves itself, we've got a little 'surprise' for those bloody wankers." Both men nodded. Now wasn't the time to brag. Now was the time for resolute intensity. Somehow, the dogs of war would be loosed. The only question was who their prey would be. |

[OOC: Sorry this is a bit late, but anyway...] To: Francis Syuka Minister of Military and Defence, Chacor CC: Lord Sero Tenal Architector, Republic of Ryloss From: John Newman Vice President for Defence, Sarzonia Subject: Your recent transmission We have received your offer of forcible removal of Chacoran citizens currently residing in the disputed territories and are willing to accept provided that you allow the Sarzonian military to provide oversight. Due to the close relationship that exists between Sarzonia and Ryloss, I must also ask that Rylossian military officials are allowed to oversee the operation in conjunction with their Sarzonian counterparts. Once the citizens have been removed from the territories, I will ask that Ryloss allow the Chacorans in their custody to travel without delay back to their homes in Chacoran territory. We thank you for offering to take this step to ensure the peaceful conclusion of this unfortunate dispute between our two great countries. |

To: John Newman Vice President for Defence, Sarzonia From: Francis Syuka Minister for Military and Defence, Chacor Warmest Greetings, I am glad to hear that you are willing to take us up on our offer. However, we must object to Ryloss being involved in the military removal. I hope you understand that while Chacor is intent on peace, it is not willing to work with nations holding Chacorans captive. I am afraid that Ryloss canot be part of this operation, or we will have to think of a way to remove these people without intervention of any kind from Ryloss. I reiterate that we, too, want peace, but it will not happen where Ryloss is involved. I hope that you are able to work a ompromise involving Ryloss; perhaps if we receive our PoWs first, we would be willing to work with them. I look forward to an agreement on this matter. |

[OOC: Since I don't want to keep the thread from being developed any longer.] To: Francis Syuka Minister for Military and Defence, Chacor CC: Lord Sero Tenal Architector, Republic of Ryloss From: John Newman Vice President for Defence, Sarzonia Subject: Responce to your latest communication I must inform you that having Rylossian military officials along to observe the removal of Chacoran citizens is not a matter up for negotiation. Asking us to exclude Rylossian military officials would be like our asking you to only send eastern Chacorans at the exclusion of western Chacorans. Unless you ascede to our wishes to have Rylossian military officials observe the removal of Chacoran citizens, we will undertake the forcible removal ourselves. If that is the case, we can not guarantee the safe passage across Sarzonia into Chacor. I have directed the First Incorporated Army under Lieutenant General Ryan Kennedy to assemble near the border of the disputed territories. You have 96 hours to comply fully with our demands. If you do not comply within that time period, we will take matters into our own hands. By the time we are done, you will lose a lot more than the territory you poached. |

To: Mike Sarzo, President of Sarzonia From: Thomas Douglas, President of Chacor Subj: Rylossan troops Warmest Greetings as ever, I understand from Mr. Syuka that you intend for Rylossan troops to jointly-oversee the removal of Chacorans. We would be willing to work a deal au contraire to what Mr. Syuka told Mr. Newman earlier. Rylossan troops will be allowed to stay in the area to oversee the removal only if Sarzonia will confirm that Ryloss has turned over all Chacoran PoWs safely into Sarzonian hands, and that they are unharmed. Should this compromise be unsuitable, we certainly cannot think of anything better - we are not willing to work with Ryloss while our citizens are in their hands. Good day. |

[OOC: Sorry for the long delay. I was waiting for Ryloss to post, but since I've got more time than usual, I'll post something now.] Camp Freedom, approximately five km north of Portland Kennedy sat at the makeshift command centre at an undisclosed location roughly 10 km from the border of the Disputed Territory. The Sixth and Seventh Infantry Divisions had just gone through extensive training as part of the reforms package pushed through Parliament after Sarzonia's legislative body finally listened to Army Chief Antonius Santius's repeated demands. The Fourth Armoured Division was due to arrive within six hours. "Blitzie, how's it looking?" "Training's gone pretty well. Those Praetonians sure bark louder than any pit bull I ever came across," Major General Geoff Tolliver said. "These are some of the finest troops Sarzonia have ever produced. We should be ready for anything. Especially if Sarzo gets us into more hot water with those Chacoran bastards." Kennedy gave Tolliver a knowing look, then pointed at the digital display. "I'm glad you're optimistic Geoff, but we've got a job to do. These are the satellite images in the Disputed Territories and in here," he said, pointing to the three southernmost provinces in Chacor, "are some images we've gotten from UAVs. Right now, there isn't a lot of buildup at the moment, but I bet you my last paycheck they'll build up in a hurry if we get too aggressive." "Are you saying we launch an invasion?" "No, Tolliver, I'm not saying launch an invasion. What I am saying is we begin combat exercises. Make it look as though an invasion will come at any day. I don't think Sarzo's going to like the sound of the compromise Douglas proposed." Situation Room, Gray House "What'd you hear from Tenal?" "He's saying they won't release the POWs," Deputy Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Grant Haffner said. "Apparently, they have evidence of some terrorist activity among some of the squatters." "Terrorists?" "Well, they did steal our territory, did they not?" "You have a point there. But what do we make of their continued refusal to work with Ryloss?" "You know what I think about that, Mike." "I know, Nicole," Sarzo sighed. "But we're this close to resolving this conflict peacefully. They just won't budge on that point. "Well, if they won't budge that last inch, it's time for us to push them that last inch." "What do you mean?" "We've got the First Army at their doorstep, right?" "Yeah." "If they don't cooperate by the deadline, tell that obnoxious little prat Douglas that you're going to take the Disputed Territory by force. And if you do, you're not going to stop until Chacor is burnt like charcoal at a barbecue." "So you mean to say you're willing to risk all-out war with Chacor and God knows who else who's on their side?" "Look at it, Mike," Newman cut in. "Who is on their side? They've got Latao, whose entire country is in ruins. They've got Druida, whose best military weapon is an assortment of pies and they've got Legalese. Wait, Legalese ceased to exist. We could take out the entire FLMS by ourselves with one hand tied behind our backs. If we got some help, we could take Chacor as our territory and expel the Chacorans from the landmass entirely." "You're talking ethnic cleansing and that's completely out of the question," Sarzo said. "You're also talking genocide and that's out of the question. At the very least, you're talking imperialism and THAT is not an option I'm willing to even put on the table." "No, Mike, we're not talking about any of those things. What we are talking about is forcing Chacor to give back the territory they stole from us and as part of the reparations they'll have to pay, they'll be forced to allow us to annex some of their land." "I don't like the sounds of that," Sarzo said. "Remember, I'm commander in chief of the armed forces. I do not authorise any of that. However, if Chacor continues to refuse to work with the Rylossians, we will have every right to consider that a tacit declaration of war. And we can respond to that accordingly. But let's keep our objectives limited to regaining the stolen territory. If they give up any more than that, great. But otherwise, I just want our original territory back in Sarzonian hands. Then we'll work with the Rylossians to return the POWs to Chacor." Sarzo called Vice President for Naval Operations Kathy Bunhall. "Make sure the Fourth and Fifth Fleets are in positions along the southern coast of Chacor," he said. "I want the Second and Third Fleets to patrol the central portion. One or two Carrier Action Groups should be able to cut Chacor off from the north. John, I want your best strategic targets for a massive tungsten rod attack, preferrably military or government installations." Sarzo grimaced as he gave the commands that conceivably edged Sarzonia closer to war. He knew time was drawing short and the time to play chicken had ended. The time was coming when the world would find out who'd blink first. |

"Tom, reports are coming in... the Sarzonians are mobilising." "Sarzo should know better. Perhaps he could take down the FLMS, but I'm sure he won't be able to do anything about one more nation on our side... he can't possibly risk international condemnation by attacking a fellow World Cup nation." "You're saying you're going to ask...." Thomas Douglas' assistant, Henry Gringer, gives a little shudder as he mentions the name which most Chacorans view with hatred, "... you're going to ask Newells, Tom?" "I'll do anything in my power to resolve this peacefully, but if Ryloss is refusing to co-operate it's not our fault, and we have to protect our sovereignity, Henry." "Tom, you are part-Sarzonian. They can't possibly deny a citizen into the country. Go over there and have a good talk with Sarzo." "Sarzo wants peace, but he wouldn't listen to a single second of what I have to say, I'm sure. That'd be very futile. Whatever it is, mobilise our troops and reservists. That may not be a lot, but an army of strength 200,000 plus help from Liverpool England will I'm sure force Sarzo to perhaps at least reconsider. MEanwhile, I need to work something out - peace is better than war." ----ChacorTV---- "We interrupt regular programming for Breaking News. Reports are coming in from Sarzonia that Sarzonian troops are mobilising. President Thomas Douglas is set to make a press briefing, and we can go over LIVE to Woodstock, Sarzonia, where President Douglas, who is half-Sarzonian, is having, quote, "a personal respite", end quote, from the ongoing events. "My fellow countrymen, Chacorans, Sarzonians.... Most of you understand the current conflict our two nations are trying to solve. Chacorans apparently claimed land vacated by Sarzonia in the north of Sarzonia, and our two countries are working hard, working together, to find a peaceful way of solving this conflict. However, Chacoran citizens are in Rylossan hands, detained on alleged terrorism charges. Chacor does not stand for this, and thus talks have slowed drastically. I am personally back in Woodstock, in Sarzonia, which I consider to be my homeland, being born on the border and all... I am back to take a personal break from the events of the past two months. I undertand that the Sarzonian military has begun mobilising, and I have instructed Chacoran units to do the same. However, I am still holding out for a peaceful solution, one without causing bloodshed. I stand here today, making a pitch to Sarzonians and Chacorans alike: We are one people; neighbours to each other; family to some. We can work together to end his conflict - only IF Ryloss agrees to work together and cooperate, which I do not expect them to do. I realise that your two nations share a great .... share great military ties. However, they are standing in our way of solving this peacefully. Go to the Rylossan embassy and protest. We want a peaceful end, and Ryloss is what's stopping us. Thank you." |

[OOC: Chacor/LE, a reminder that puppet wanking is HIGHLY frowned upon. It's Sarzonia v. Chacor, not Sarzonia v. Chacor and Liverpool England.] |
Posted by: Chacor Jul 25 2005, 05:25 AM |
[Yeah I know it's frowned upon, but the two nations DO have prior history and not LE just coming in like some n00b and saying "We back them" . It's legal, as far as I'm concerned. 'Sides, it's just a mention, I don't intend to do so.] |

[OOC: I'll grant the fact there may be prior history between Chacor and LE, but my opposition to puppet wanking remains. Do NOT try it.] "Mr. President, Chacor's President," Executive Secretary to the President Becky Davis began. "What the hell does that dipstick want now?" "Uh, Mike, he's here and he wants to meet with you in person." "How did he manage to get through the checkpoints at the border? Some guard's head is going to roll." "He showed a Sarzonian passport. He says he's half Sarzonian." "You go out there and you tell him that he has 72 hours to get his lily livered arse back to Chacor or he will be placed under arrest." "Mike, are you trying to start a war?" Davis stood up and glared. "I'll send him right in." She walked out before Mike had a chance to stop her. This is just fecking great, Sarzo thought as he waited for Douglas to walk into his office. He stood up, folded his arms across his chest, and glared as Douglas started walking into the office. |

"You can almost smell the tension," Kennedy said as he listened to radio reports of the escalating tensions between Sarzonia and Chacor over the disputed territory. His army continued their daily, ceaseless drills that Kennedy insisted would turn his large group of volunteers into a crack, professional unit. He knew that sentiment among his troops was growing that they were looking for real action and they wanted to fight a war soon. "Ryno, I've got Army Chief Santius on the phone," Colonel David Whitney, Kennedy's aide de camp, said as he walked into the tent that served as Kennedy's quarters. Kennedy sighed. "All right, let's have it." He picked up the phone. "Kennedy." "Ryan, I've been asked to give you the word that you are being brevetted Field General for the duration of the tensions with Chacor. You are also given overall command of the operation should it come down to war." Santius hung the phone up, not waiting for Kennedy's answer. "Guess I'm stuck with this command," Kennedy said. "What do you mean, sir," Whitney said, suddenly snapping to attention. "Dave, drop ranks for a bit," Kennedy said. "I've just been given command of the whole Chacoran operation. The Third Army is en route to the Northeast Border with Ryloss with Major General Amanda Thompson." "It gets worse Ryan," Whitney said. "Newman sent an e-mail. You're in overall command. That means Admiral Newman is waiting for your next word." "Sheeite," Kennedy said. "All this because Sarzonia wants more from Chacor than simply handing over territory?" "Well, if they simply handed over the territory, we could release the ex-pats into their custody and head back home. But they keep refusing to acknowledge Ryloss." "So now you mean to tell me we're close to all-out war because they're whining about Rylossian involvement?" "Or because we're too stubborn." "Dave," Kennedy said. "You know about the treaty..." "We're still separate countries Ryan. We're not part of the same country. The treaty doesn't mean we've given up our sovereignty or they've given up theirs." "I didn't say that," Kennedy said. "But you have to remember that gives both of us vested interest in the other country's affairs. Their army troops patrol our land as if it's theirs, but our naval ships patrol their waters like they're ours. It all ends up in the wash. "Now Chacor's talking about bringing Liverpool England into the fray." "Do what? If Liverpool England enters this, there'll be a lot more than a sporting rivalry going on. There'll be some serious bloodshed." "Or some of their stadiums will be target practice for the Godrods." "Hold on a sec," Kennedy said as his communications device beeped. "Kennedy. All right. See you in five." "Who was that?" "The Rylossian general of the army. He wants to meet with us to go over invasion plans. Operation Body Slam, I think is what he called it." That's just great, Whitney thought as he watched Kennedy stride briskly out of the tent and into his Humvee with notepad in hand. The operation would commence soon enough. |

"Sarzo! As always, good to see you..." Douglas' voice rang through the room. "I suppose you've heard of Chacor's AOCAF bid then?" Before Sarzo could say a word, Douglas continued, "Good. I don't want to harm our chances. I'm sure you, our good neighbours, don't, either. I'm offering this: Ryloss gets to oversee the withdrawal, but otherwise gets minimal intervention. We'll of course need our PoWs back, so if they can be flown into the Chacoran Embassy in Woodstock, I think we can make this a smooth end to tensions." "I'm not going to have my cities blown up because of some frickin' dispute, and I don't think you'd like to see... we'd like to see any civilian damage. What do you say, Sarzo? A truce?" [OOC: If you want the tensions to go on, you can always reject it, Sarz. No worries.] |

Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in, Sarzo thought as he picked up a piece of paper. He walked out from behind his desk with the paper and walked up to Douglas, standing approximately 50 centimetres from his Chacoran counterpart. "I'm not too pleased with my security teams at the moment, so forgive me if I'm not exactly jumping with enthusiasm at your presence here," Sarzo said firmly, fixing a steady glance at Douglas. "It's not everyday that a national leader in the middle of a warm war is able to flit through Sarzonian airspace like it's his own." Sarzo lifted the sheet of paper in his left hand to shpw it to Douglas, taking care to keep the contents well-hidden. "Your poorly-disguised threat notwithstanding, I'll accept your proposal," Sarzo began at last. "I'll contact Lord Sero and have him release the prisoners. I'll also contact my military commanders and have them demobilise." Sarzo turned the paper around and moved his right hand to a position mere centimetres apart on the top. "This sheet of paper," Sarzo said, "is a declaration of war. Parliament passed it just minutes ago. All it needs is my signature and a state of war exists between our countries." Sarzo tore the paper, then walked to his laptop and hit a button. "I've just transmitted a veto of the declaration of war. All I had to do was sign that paper and we would have been at war." Wearily, Sarzo sat down, making a half-hearted motion to Douglas to sit down. "Care for a drink? Lord knows I need one." |
